Right where were we...?

Hi everyone,

Well, I caved in and left the conference a day early

Long story, but going to post anyway to vent my frustration!

So, I left for the conference this Tuesday morning, which was CD10. I've been using a Clearblue Fertility Monitor this month for the first time, and it was showing 'high' fertility, but I figured it would do that for a few days at least.
Then Wednesday morning (CD11) I get a 'peak' fertility and lots of creamy, almost foamy CM (sorry, TMI!).
I was giving a presentation that evening so couldn't do anything. Wanted to shout noooooo!!! and called DP in despair, but had to stay.
Yesterday morning (CD12) I got another 'peak' fertility on the monitor, and decided to go home early (for the career ladies out there, I am a little about this).
Anyway, National Express East Coast from Londong to Edinburgh yesterday was supposed to have me home in Edinburgh at 3.45pm. Then there was flooding at both Grantham and Berwick. I got home at sodding 8.15pm!!!!
I was stuck in a train for nine hours full of grumpy, stressed out people. At some point I wanted to stand up in the train and shout 'I AM OVULATING AND NEED TO BE INSEMINATED RIGHT NOW!!!' but not sure if that would have gone down too well.
Pluss I think DP would have been miffed

Anyway, point is I think I missed my chance this month. We did get down to it eventually last night and this morning, but from what I understand it's better to do it right before ovulation?

I know I'm lucky that everything seems to be in order and working the way it should, and I'm grateful for that. I'm just so frustrated about the absolutely worst possible timing of this conference and train delay!

Hope everyone have a good weekend!

bluesnow happy belated birthday!

pepperoni the metallic taste does sound promising actually!

ozzie I was the same when I first noticed EWCM, far too excited for my own good! But it's a great sign! Glad everything seems to be working!

claire your husband made me It's good that he seems to know how it all works!

curly I've just spent ages studying your picture. I've been temping as well this month, but not able to see anything useful so far. Will refer to yours occasionally to compare. It does appear that things happen for you around CD14...

kkas it's impossible not to symptom spot I've found, so you might as well accept that's what you'll be doing Still, nausea is a good sign (not often one says that I think!)

fulham nice to have you back, even if you're not officially TTC right now!

Immaterial Thanks for the brand new thread!

LOL about your need to shout something to all of the world. Totally understand the mentality! Glad you made it home safely though. Don't give up hope yet!

If you don't mind me asking, what do you do? I'm a lawyer so should totally be career minded, but find myself only thinking TTC at the moment and am really finding it hard to concentrate at work. Believe me, if career came in the way of TTC, I would definitely choose the TTC so I know what you mean!

Thanks for starting the new thread ImmaterialGirl!

Things still same with me. No sign of AF. Ugh! I've been really busy catching up at work to make up for the days I was out. I'm really looking forward to the weekend.

Best of luck to everyone!

ImmaterialGirl · 04/09/2009 17:08

kkas I'm glad you understand
I'm a researcher at one of the Edinburgh universities. It's probably not the wisest idea for me to be TTC at the moment, as I don't have a permanent lecturer position, but the nature of academia these days mean you usually spend up to ten years post-PhD in various teaching positions and on specific short-term research projects before obtaining the holy grail of permanent employment. And quite frankly I don't want to wait that long. At the moment I'm on a year-long teaching post, hopefully the last before I take some time off I'm lucky in that DP's income can support both of us.

sevans good to hear from you, very that you've still not seen AF, how long until you go see your Doctor again? Fingers crossed that it works out for you soon!

Evening all.

Thanks for the chart feedback, Just hoping hoping we've been successful this month then the wonky charts won't matter. Otherwise, I really must work out what's going wrong.

Hope you are all ok. immat academia can be awkward, so too right to do the baby thing now!

Have a good weekend everyone

pepperonipizza · 04/09/2009 23:17

Ooh, shiny new thread!! Thanks IM! Loved reading about your epic journey home. It really does sound as if you did the best you could this month under the circumstances, so you never know....don't give up hope yet!

IM and Kkas, I am totally with you on the IIC vs. work. Work is definatley not number 1 priority any more! A lot of my friends have mentioned they feel the same in the last few years too, I wonder if it's an age thing (I'm nearly 30)?

Welcome Spirael!

pepperonipizza · 04/09/2009 23:18

oops, TTC, not IIC (not sure what that wuld stand for!?!!).

Ohhhhhh....go I join please? I'm on the may bus and in the que for the june bus. I am now overdue, with no signs of Af (other than moodswings), and no real signs of being Preggers.

Ladyemmalou83 · 05/09/2009 00:02

Kkas and Immaterialgirl I really understand the work Vs TTC. Until very recently my whole life has been about progressing at work.

Im a Operations Controller at our local Airport, the youngest in my department by quite a long way. I should be career orinentated, but there is nowhere to progress to unless one of my seniors retires. Without blowing my own trumpet, I'm sometime quite important, (Em hums 'I have the power')(Gosh how self centred do I sound?)

Literally overnight all I can think of is having a family. Its possible that getting married had something to do with it (got married in June). I feel as complete I can at the moment. Between my parents and I, thousands has been spent on getting me a decent education etc, but now it all seems so pointless, when the one thing DH I really want is a bundle of joy, made by us, that has my DH bright ginger hair, baked in my oven, and sprinkled with our love (Yes, im sorry, far too soppy, but there we go)

bluesnowfalcon · 05/09/2009 08:55

Welcome ladyemma I know what you mean with the work v TTC I'm a teacher so surrounded by kids all day as well!

CJ2007 · 05/09/2009 10:29

Hey all!! I seemed to have missed quite a bit so will try to catch up!! Belated happy birthday to you blue hope you had a lovely day.
Welcome to the new ladies on the thread!
I totally understand the whole ttc and work imbalance, I'm a social worker with foster carers and often find it a struggle to focus... Not aided by the fact that a close work colleague is pregnant and wants to share all the details with me!!!
I'm having a bit of a challenging week with af being very late and the raised hope that went with that then her eventual arrival I'm feeling pretty low. A good friend has also just announced she's pregnant which sent me into fits of tears! Poor dh didn't really help by saying people will get pregnant around us... No really!!!!!????I think I know that!
It's not about them getting pregnant I'm genuinely thrilled for them it's the fact we're not that I struggle with....
Guess it's difficult for both of us and neither of us are particularly good at talking without crying...

Well time to pick myself back up, stop with the self pity and get on the June bus!!!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you all. A nice bfp on here would definately lift my spirits!
Xxx

ImmaterialGirl · 05/09/2009 10:44

spirael and ladyemma welcome! I know you both from the May bus, and yes, it is indeed rather crowded!

ladyemma I know you've been testing and getting down about the bfn's, and don't want to get your hopes up for it all to come crashing down, but there are of course women who don't have any symptoms and get bfn's for weeks after AF is due. As long as she's not here there is still hope! And I think a little soppyness is in order once in a while I hope he/she does eventually turn out to have your DH's ginger hair...

CJ I'm so sorry you're and Sometimes it just really gets to you.
It's weird isn't it, how we all have started on this and suddenly it really is the only important thing that matters. Must be some strong hormonal/psychological thing going on...

CJ I so know where ur coming from! Im working with two preggers friends at the mo, both of with conceived on 1st month TTC. (There DP's who I also work with, now think they have superspearm). 1 of them came to tell me they were pregnant on the same day the doc confirmed early MC, I wanted to say thanks for the kick in the teeth, but it wasnt her fault. To try cheer me up she asked did I want to go baby clothes shopping.....ummmm No!

DH exactly the same. He is totally in love with having a child, but he never is very good when it comes to the supportive comments, the other day it was "We will get there even if it takes a few years". I knew he meant well, but I didnt take it very well. Bless his little ginger socks for trying though

claireinthecommunity · 06/09/2009 12:23

A new thread and new people!!

Welcome Spirael and Ladyemmalou82 and congratulations on your recent nuptials Ladyemmalou82 Ozzie and Immaterial you both made me laugh, Ozzie with your joy at EWCM - well done (I feel the same when I notice mine) and Immaterial with your train journey home

Sevans hope something happens for you soon.

CJ hope you have a better week this week coming. I too found it difficult when I got AF last month, I wasn't late like you but I'd been having very strong symptoms and had convinced myself I was PG - then AF came bang on time! Think I was more angry at myself for getting my own hopes up than anything else and was left feeling rather frustrated and a little silly I see we are at the same stage in our cycles - all the best to you for a positive outcome this month (and everyone else!!)

Ozziegirly · 07/09/2009 01:07

Morning everyone. Well I have felt like crap this weekend with the most horrible heavy cold. Hacking cough and blocked sinuses really do not make me feel like a sex goddess....

Despite this, we still DTD a couple of times, and yesterday I think I got a line on my OPK, although to be honest it really wasn't that easy to see. If it hasn't worked this month I think I'll splash out on a digital one next month.

So I guess now I'm heading into the TWW...

CurlyCasper · 07/09/2009 06:48

Good luck ozzie and happy monday all

don't suppose a bunged up nose can be a symptom? either that or I'm coming down with something...

Anyone testing with me at the end of this week? Very nervous - especially as my mum and dad arrive on Friday.

Ozziegirly · 07/09/2009 07:38

Good luck CC 5 days of finger crossing from you then...

pepperonipizza · 07/09/2009 09:18

Curly, my AF is due Fri, so depending on what my temps do, I may test Fri.... but very surprisingly I'm not feeling like I'm dying to test at the moment. I'm really trying not to get my hopes up as I was quite upset last month. So, will (try to) remain calm, collected and not think about whether every little twinge means anything or not!!

Hope you are all okay and had a nice weekend. Get well soon Ozzie!

kkas · 07/09/2009 09:24

Morning girls

Welcome to all the newcomers!

curly I will also be testing later this week. Bought the 2pack from 99p store as well as 2pack of CBDs yesterday at Boots. Couldn't help myself.... but am determined to only use the 99p ones on date AF due (or day after if I can wait) and then, if good result, confirm with CBD on the weekend. We are at BIL's wedding on Sat and DH is best man. So am not going to let him know I'm testing until Sunday (don't want to make him more nervous than he already is for the speech!) But if I test on Thur or Fri, then at least I know whether I can have some champers! Chances are though, if I do get a BFP on Thurs/Fri, then I will have to tell DH anyway... Maybe I should just wait til Sunday to test at all? What do you guys think I should do?

No real symptoms over the weekend though... so am pretty convinced it will be BFN anyway.

Hope curly and Ozzie feel better soon.

I'll handhold with you, CC! I'm going to be testing towards the end of the week/over the weekend too. Fortunately next weekend is pretty quiet for me, but I have got the in-laws staying the weekend after!

I've heard that a bunged up nose can be a symptom, but there is also a nose and throat cold going around at the moment in my area (Yorkshire). Is there anything similar where you are?

claireinthecommunity · 07/09/2009 11:24

Morning all

So, there are four of us testing at the end of the week!: Curly, pepper, kkas and Spirael - good luck to you all.

I have a bunged up nose and a sore throat, you have my sympathy Ozzie and Curly. Have you got it too Spirael? (I'm near Cambridge)

kkas if you test before the wedding on Saturday and it is positive (fingers crossed) then perhaps impending fatherhood will make your DHs best man speech seem less daunting! Have a wonderful day either way.

Spirael · 07/09/2009 12:22

I managed to come down with the bug a few days before AF last cycle, so naturally thought that all the cold symptoms might be early pregnancy symptoms and got mightily disappointed when they weren't!

Managed to recover pretty fast though, which was good. Hopefully everyone with the bug will recover quickly, or even better that it will turn out not to be a bug at all... But a symptom ahead of an imminent BFP!

Sounds like this weekend is going to be a good time to cross all fingers and toes. Here's hoping for four BFPs for all of us!
