clairebear thank you hun, by active i take it you mean in the bedroom or pilates type active? DP and i are doing both!

i also really want a rabbit but dp wont have any of it even though i want a house rabbit as we dont have big garden. have no dc either and miss the family dog terribly

the HSG i am so so scared- convinced there is something wrong which is why i think i would rather have the op. as then i wont be awake but dp is worried about the general had 3 in the last couple years always been fine but i know it is a risk. what you think?
what did they do for you after the hsg?

hope your ok x

paddington21 · 16/06/2009 16:14

i stupidly started looking on the internet about follicles. i only have one big one on one side is this enough? having a minor freak out now.
any thoughts?

have day off work...spending too much time on here!

stac14 · 16/06/2009 16:26

Hey clairebear The are doing an echovist scan is that the same as a HSG? They said at the hospital they scan your stomach and insert air in your cervix, but online it says its a dye they put in.

paddington have you already had HSG? My consultant wants to check tubes before continuing with treatment as if tubes are blocked they have said its straight to IVF. Sounds good bout your folicles hun xxx

awen yeah your right about a checklist but when dp and I were talking about it, it shows its all about money, if they can get away with sending you away with tablets then they will. I just hope my tubes aren't blocked we never really considered IVF

My exam tomorrow is part of my degree in health and social care, so nervous as I probably have already said lol xxx

paddington21 · 16/06/2009 19:23

hi stac no i havent had one yet am terrfied!good luck with your one- when you having it? you will let us know! im hopeful about the follicles but hey- am feeling all over the place so what ever happens, happens.

good luck in the exam you'll be great!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 16/06/2009 19:38

Paddington

Have had HSG done and its okay really, it is better if the dye is injected slowly and carefully. Do wear sanitary protection afterwards, that dye has to come out!!. I was given a couple of painkillers beforehand.

It is a useful test to have done as it can give information not easily accessed by other methods e.g laparoscopy. Deformities INSIDE the tube can only be seen on x-ray. Would not suggest lap surgery unless deemed necessary by the gynae cons.

HTH, any other questions just ask

Attila

paddington21 · 16/06/2009 20:51

Thanks Attila will go have the hsg done next month. thanks for the towel advice- obvious but i probably wouldnt of remembered that. painkiller wise i cant have any kind of antiimflatory so i hope its paracetamol.

my doctor says its unlikely there is anything wrong but i am finding it so hard to believe her.

she has put me on clomid until october now this is my first cycle on 100mg had 3 cycles on 50mg. what do you think?

stac14 · 16/06/2009 22:34

Hey paddington the first appointment they had for the scan is 6th August so I am off all treatments till then, so frustrating. As atilla say your best not to go through surgery unless you have to. You will probably have it done before me so you canlet me know how you get on lol. xxx

Clure · 16/06/2009 22:36

paddington I had hsg done in my preliminary round of fertility tests when trying to conceive first time round. It was a bit uncomfortable. Definately need sanitary towels. Afterwards I felt really bad period pains but they were gone that evening. Good luck x

KiwiKat · 16/06/2009 22:51

Hi everyone, am on cd11 of the second round of clomid, and went for a scan yesterday. I halved the dose this month to one a day, and STILL have managed to produce four eggs or follicles or whatever they are. So they've asked me to go in for another scan tomorrow morning to see what's going on - but I've already decided that I don't have any more time to waste and we're going to go for it no matter what he says.

clairebear88 · 17/06/2009 08:53

Hi

Paddington + Stac - They say getting a pet is good when ttc as it takes your mind off it. Sometimes we all think way too much about it and it must make you tense.
Please dont worry about the test Im not sure its the same thing but HSG is ok i promise. Defo take paracetamol before you go in and take a towel with you. Just feet up, hot water bottle and a bar of choccy for rest of day.
I was sure I had problems but didnt show up anything Its natural your worrying but its good the tests are being done and then they can sort out the best treatment for you x

Paddington they also tell you not to ttc if you have more than 2 follicles anyway so one big follicle is ideal. good luck

Kiwikat - Do you have pcos? Its so hard when they tell you not ttc coz you have too many follicles as its against everything you have been trying to do for god knows how long. Up to you at the end of the day and as I have said before imagine you were not being monitored how would you know how many follicles you had so would be trying anyways. Whats meant to be will be x

baby dust sprinkled ~~~~~~~~~

pinkypanther · 17/06/2009 09:21

Ooh, Kiwikat, that sounds promising.

Stac hope your exam went ok yesterday and that the wait for your echovist test isn't too tortuous. I agree that there should be a more organised approach to infertility treatment - it seems to be a bit hit and miss really.

Lucy, Lissie, Amelie and Fruitbowl - any news from you girls?

I am super proud of myself for not testing this morning. Only two days to go! It'll probably be a bit early even then but at least I will have the hen weekend to cheer me up when I get another BFN...

lucygrif · 17/06/2009 09:35

no news from me yet, am not going to test unless AF hasn't arrived by Saturday am - but I am thinking it is coming because my boobs REALLY hurt now like they always do pre AF, and I have got that "heavy" feeling. Bummer.

paddington21 · 17/06/2009 10:28

hi all thank you for all your advice and kind words. feel much better about having it done now.
i would love a pet but dp still wont have any of it!
feel better about my one follicle now too... just hope its good enough.

will keep you all updated.

anyone had preseed? thoughts please ladies i have tube in front of me now!

dust and hope x x x

lucygrif · 17/06/2009 10:40

whats preseed?

KiwiKat · 17/06/2009 12:54

Just had second scan, and found out that two follicles are growing and the other two are not doing anything much, so he said that there was still a risk of having a multiple conception, but that we could go for it. I nearly kissed him - I would LOVE to have twins. Or just one! Please, please, please ...

Good luck everyone else. My half day is over, and I'm off to work.

(I'd also like to know what preseed is.)

lucygrif · 17/06/2009 12:57

ooooooooooh its that sperm friendly lubricant - saw an advert on TV

lucygrif · 17/06/2009 12:57

wonder where amelie and fruitbowl have gotten to?? perhaps they have moved over to the pregnancy threads!!

stac14 · 17/06/2009 15:31

Hey ladies
Exam went ok I think, answered the questions to the best of my ability so hoping it was enough. I wont get the results of that till August either lol

Does anyone who has pcos get pains in the ovary region throughout the month? I have been getting a few pains over the past few days and was wondering what it was.

Now that you mention it I wonder how our grads are? If your out there ladies let us know how you all are.

Thanks for puting us at ease regarding hsg hopefully the time will fly in as of next Friday DS is on summer hols so I am sure he will keep me occupied. I also have a job interview on Friday, its all go my end lol xxx

amelied · 17/06/2009 15:38

Hi Girls

Huge apologies for AWOL!! Broadband issues will give you a quick "me,me,me" post then go back and read up on what I have missed out on. Thank you for thinking optimstically that I maybe on a pregnancy thread, unfortunately not -

Well, I am on Day 35 and still no AF. Did a Clearblue digital test on Day 28 and it said not pregnant, so waited until this morning and did another and it was the same. I think my missing AF maybe due to losing 16lbs in 3 weeks that may have knocked out my cycle.

Right off to read up on the past couple of pages - be back on later....

sarashy · 17/06/2009 17:57

paddington I've used preseed. It helped!
Have held off testing, its too early but still resisting!

hope you all well. Off to DD's nursery parent evening xx

islegrin · 17/06/2009 18:20

Congrats sarahshy!

Just a note about HSG - Most people say there is just a cramping sensation, but for me (probably because I have a tube blocked due to an ectopic years ago) it was quite painful. I went into pain sweats and nearly levitated off the table because I wasn't expecting it. It was as bad as kidney stones for me. All the docs and nurses told me it would be "a little discomfort" and I was shaking by the time it was over. I would have much rather been told "this will hurt like hell - but it will be over in 30 seconds" so I guess those are my words of comfort, even if it does hurt, it's over in 30 seconds or so. If your tubes are not blocked I'd say there's very little chance of pain.

Sorry to be the bearer of pain news.

paddington21 · 17/06/2009 19:54

islegrin- knowing my luck i will be in a lot of pain then!

preseed ladies is a sperm friendly itimate moisturiser that helps where clomid hasnt in terms of mucus and lack of it. were trying it tonight!
was anyone else sore for a few days after their follicle scan?
kiwikat- good luck on the follicle front hun!
stac- glad the exam went well.
amelied- mine was late last month its unbearable!

Hi girls!

Congrats Sarahshy! Brilliant news - sticky vibes.

Kiwi - yeah - go for it. 2 eggs seems like a good number. My consultant recommended I have 2 as I'm over 40. Get to bed!

Me BIG preseed fan too! It's a necessity round these parts! It's one of the few lubricants that is "sperm friendly" (I think it waves to the little fellas and offers to buy them a pint)

No news from me except AF turned up as I was hoping this month because I had a very rare opportunity to go partying and think it did me the world of good to go out and get wrecked! makes a change from the years of trying to be mother teresa!
