Hi just wondered if people ttc on Clomid wanted to join this thread unless i have been stupid and missed one.

We are due to fertility clinic on 22nd and expect to go on clomid again.

We have 2 dc. Ds1 is nearly 9 and was concieved without fertility help. THis was a big surprise as have PCOS and was told would never conceive naturally.

Ds2 was conceived after 1 course of clomid 50mg. My day 21 test was awful and still no period after 45ish day. Was put on progesterone to induce bleed. Didnt happen as was pregnant.

Was also on metformin but not currently, waiting for all clear next week. I have dodgy lft generally on medication and also bfing.

Ds2 is 1 now and still breastfeeding. Hoping this will not hinder any treatment as really want to continue this too. I am now 33 so fertility decreasing too.

I dont have a cd currently as all up the shoot so waiting to see what happens really.

Hello guys - I've been ttc for three years now and had 1 mc. I am type II diabetes, and have been on clomid once before for 3 months with no results.

Saw consultant today and they have finally agreed to try me on Metformin with clomid. Does anyone have any success stories with this combination? I don't have PCOS but the have glucose intolerance (as some PCOS patients do).

I'm really hoping this will do the trick

Lisylou1980 · 03/03/2009 18:47

Hey ladies,
I have yet another question for you, this month i got a funny felling i aint gonna catch negative attitude i no but i only have a weekend with my partner and its not definate when i ovulate, typical he's home for 2 weeks in 2 weeks time (not impressed as it'll prob be all over and done with by then)
Anyway when i am roughly due to start taking clomid again i dont think he is going to be home for about 3 weeks, so seems a waste taking it, would it still work the same if i had a month off it? that would be my last month of taking it as i only got given 5 months worth. any advice or shall i just let nature take its caourse and give up?

Baby dust to you all xxxxx

stac - vbac means vaginal birth after ceasarean. Nearly needed a ventouse with ds2 tho but managed to get him out. He wasnt to well at first and needed help to breathe. Very scarey. Re the damamged down there, had eposiotomony and needed it bridged which was painful. THe metformin was prescribed for PCOS symptons although it is a diabetic medication wasnt for diabetes. Wasnt too bad though 12 hours start of established labour to finish. With ds1 i was 48 hours only got to 5cm and emergency section, lost of alot of blood post partum haemorrage as uterus wouldnt contract back after. BOth my boys back to back so very painful... still while i was having ds2 they gave me a epidural in the end and i was saying (between contractions and gasping it.. 'I want another baby, i know it hurts but i do want another baby') They thought that was rather funny.. The recovery time from section is a lot longer though than from an episiotomony (though that was very painful too).

Brandybaby - i have to agree with attila, it sounds like you are putting yourself under so much pressure. Our bodies arent perfect (unfortunately) and they wont do what we want.. It will happen though, i am trying hard to relax about it all too.

Mummycat - We just had new ikea opened near here. I tried it yesterday and hated it.. though it was a bad day for me anyway. Sounds like your going to be busy! We moved last may and it was hectic.
I am pleased with my consultant, she is really genuine and even calls from her home.

Poppy - i conceived ds2 on clomid 50mg and metformin tds. Not on metformin now as not guidelines and also breastfeeding.

Clure - sorry you had crappy day. Year 6 kids can be really mean, mine is in year 4 and they get picked on sometimes.

Hey awen
Thanks for info about metformin the reason I ask is a lot of people hae said they have been prescribed it to regulate periods so I was wondering if it was an alternative to the progesterone as they are giving me bad mood swings.

Has anyone used anything else to bring on periods or is progesterone the only option?

On last dose of clomid tonight should be oving by the 8th so going to get plenty of practice in at the weekend lol. Have a party on Saturday night so looking forward to that.

How is everyone else? XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Hello can i join you ladies.

Im 28 TTC number 2 and have been trying for 5 yrs 50 cycles am currently on cd9 and took clomid from cd2-cd5. i have taken clomid before, last yr in Oct and then Nov i fell on clomid in the Nov but Miscarried at 6 weeks so have had a 3 month break and started again this month. heres hoping ay.

I feel realy emotional this time taking clomid i want to cry at everything and getting some very strange pains, it feels like a dull ache constantly anyone had the same ?

i hope no one minds me butting in it would be nice to have some support with people that are also taking clomid.

cheekymonkeywanted · 04/03/2009 15:12

hi ray81,welcome. ive only joined not too long ago and everyone is very welcoming.

did you take clomid with your 1st? sorry to hear about your mc , i lost my boy at 4 months in november so know how you feel. just started my first month back on clomid this month, on cycle day 16 and ovulating today/tomorrow (got signs today) clomid seems to work for me on 50mg to and im hoping i fall pregnant first month this time (cycle 2 last time)

is clomid the first line of treatment you have had in 5 years of trying for number 2...seems along wait.

welcome poppy im not sure on your situation as i have pcos but im sure some of the other lovely ladies will be able to help. what dose of clomid are you on? when did you last take clomid? i think sometime a break to relax may do the trick to.

question is anyone back on clomid straight away after having a baby (or a few months) ...im just getting a little ahead of myself and wondered whether the dr would put you back on clomid if you wanted children close together. surely everytime you wanted to concieve the dr should just prescribe you clomid (if you know your not going to concieve with out it) ????

baby dust to all.

and im feeling lucky today woohooooooo!!!!!

mummycat1 · 04/03/2009 15:47

Stac they say babies are getting bigger generally and that people often have to push the shoulders out too now. I wasn't offended by what you said - just sharing. I was surprised as my boys were smaller 8lbs and 9lbs and I didn't have to do the shoulder thing with them xx

Lisylou I think having a break is fine. I asked my clinic about this and they said that it is ok to take a month off - I'll be doing it myself in April as we are on holiday when I need scanning and HCG shot so just thought - let's have a nice holiday and not worry.

Cheeky I wanted to have two close together. I went to the Doctors when DD was just under a year. By the time I got the appointment I had fallen pg naturally so cancelled the appointment. I then had MC and then had to wait for ages and go through hy-co-sy and lap which were both horrid before I finally got treatment.

I had to go the doctors lots of times before I finally got referred. Not sure that you are such a priority when you already have a baby. Nurse seems to make a point about how I already have children every time I go.

That said - just try to relax and when you do get pg and have a baby - just enjoy every minute of it.

Welcome to Poppy and ray

hopeforbundleofjoy · 04/03/2009 15:57

any one else took clomid and not ovulated? what is the next course of action if i dont ovulate at all????

stac14 · 04/03/2009 17:42

Hi Ladies,
Bit of a weepy day today think its been the clomid, kind of got that way last time. Was getting a bit worried it was all getting too much so spoke to the doc and he says it is stressfull and with the hormones flying around its natural to be a bit moody, weepy, psycho bitch lol How is everyone else?

Welcome poppy, ray and hopeforbundleofjoy

hopeforbundle of joy I took 50mg of clomid in January and never ovulated my consultant upped it 100mg think that may be what the do to you, they tend to put you on clomid for about 6 months upping the dose were necessary, think I have that right lol

Lisylou1980 · 04/03/2009 18:05

Hi ladies,
I will give the month break a go then.
With regards to the not ovulating on clomid, i didnt on my first go and i kept on the same dose of 50mg for cycle 2 and when i had my bloods on day 21 i had ovulating and my reading was on 60. i think for some ppl it takes a while to get in the system.
this clomid is really messing me up this month, i feel like absolute crap, i thought if i took it before bed i wouldnt get the side effects as bad, but how wrong was i, one min i am on a high and stomach feeling fine the next i could kill someone and my stomach is up and i look 3/4 months pregnant, and the spots that have come up are flipping rediculous!!! i just hope its worth it.
Any ideas what happens after i have taken my 5 months of clomid and have concieved?? got the rest of this months to take and then next month (well the following month as gonna miss a month) then thats it??

Baby dust and hello to you all i hope you are all ok xxx

Millymolly - CD ??

LIsy sorry you are getting bad side effects fingers crossed it works for you this time. I was told will give up to 12 months to work have they said only 6 months to you?

Stac - i know what you mean. It is so hard not to be in control of emotions but worth it. Dont think there is an alternative to progesterone as it is this dropping that brings on period x

Bundle - doesnt look like i have ov'd this cycle so if it happens that i havent they are upping the dose for next month and monitoring with scan and blood test.

Cheeky - my referral went through quite quick. The bfeeding has been an issue but as ds is 14 months not feeding as much as if he were alot younger. I have also had comments from nurse as i already have 2 boys but i let it wash over me.

Hello ladies...I'm 39 and been trying for about a year...have a 13 yr old daughter that was also difficult to concieve...I just had my 2nd IUI yesterday (also taking 50mg Chlomid, 2nd month) and hoping for good news this time around...no male fertility issues here either...Been reading through this blog, you all sound lovely and it's like I already know you...hope you don't mind me popping in!!!(wink) Love and BD to all!!

ray81 · 05/03/2009 10:04

Hi Cheeky,

I didnt have to take anything with my first infact i was on the pill and had a tummy bug and the rest is history, was such a shock to realise i was pg but also great of course. So when we first starting trying this time i was convinced that i would be pg very quickly, how wrong i was!!! .
We had IUI a yr ago and that failed but as i have a dd they wont let us have treatment on the NHS and therefore we couldnt afford another go at that point hence why doc put me on the clomid. It worked last time on secong month but was a mc so i am hoping that it works this time although trying not to hold my breath or anything.
So So at the loss of you boy that must have been awful for you, my mc was in Nov too so we must be in line with eachother.

Awen Please can i be added to the rollcall i am on CD10.

Sissy welcome i have only just joined too. May i ask why the long wait trying to concieve a secong? How does DD feel about it? I worry as i have a DD and she is only 7 but the older she gets the more worried i am that she will find it realy hard having another around. So sorry if i sound noisy(i am LOL) and you dont have to tell me if you sont want to of course.
I realy hope the IUI works for you i had one cycle last year that failed and i was devastated and couldnt face doing it again maybe one day we will do it again but probably not we will just go for IVF i think.

stac14 · 05/03/2009 12:14

Hey ray
My DS is 10 and really looking forward to having a brother or sister, theres 10 years between me and my sis and we got on great although she was a pain when she was younger lol

Welcome sissy I'm a bit new to all this and don't know what iui is sorry for being nosey but to be honest I haven't researched further than the clomid yet. When will you know if its worked?

How are the rest of you ladies? all good I hope. I have stopped crying thank goodness, feel more like myself today, as you say awen it's well worth it, but DP was very worried I was getting depressed, as I have suffered it in the past so he was kind of torn between a new baby and my health, bless him.

cheekymonkeywanted · 05/03/2009 18:53

anyone up to anything exciting over the weekend? {smile}

Lisylou1980 · 05/03/2009 19:13

Hi ladies
Awen - i had a letter through today to say i had produced an egg last time and to take clomid for a further 4 months then if not pregnant i have to go back and see her.

Its so difficult as onl see partner at weekends but he has assured me he will be home ever weekend and we are hoping that he will be home for a month soon so i just hope we catch. all we want is a baby together. I have a daughter and after 4 years and a mc i got her but unfortunately her dad dies when she was 5 months so things have been a struggle, but now i have a new partner and life is on the up a baby would just complete things and he wants it more than anything i just feel crap as its just not working
xxx

mummycat1 · 05/03/2009 20:19

Lisylou you've had such a hard time (((hugs))). Getting the letter about producing an egg must have been nice though and now you know that you can stay on the clomid - hopefully this will make you feel a little more relaxed.

Only one more tab for me to take. Why do the first two weeks of the month always seem to fly by and then the second two just drag on forever?

Had really sharp little pains like elastic snapping inside of me on the left today - so guess that clomid is taking effect.

Feel so desperate for a baby this month. Am working very hard at home and at school (teacher).

My weekend plans: My 34th birthday so no housework! But will be making big chocolate amaretti cake and eating it with blueberries and cream DH and I are going out to the theatre in the evening to see Singin in the Rain! Bit naff, but it's what was on so hopefully it will be a laugh. Especially with a couple of glasses of wine inside me!

Alfiemax · 05/03/2009 20:36

Evening Ladies,

Welcome to everyone that has joined this week. It's getting lovely and full in here now and it's wonderful to hear everyones stories and hopefully we can all share our wonderful news with each other soon.

Stac you hubby is soooo exactly the same as mine. I suffered OND with both of my 2 but was fine while pg and we did run into alot of ups and downs after I had the kids so he is really worried that it will happen again. It wasn't just PND though at the time, it was a number of things and none of them factor in our life anymore so I'm hoping it wont happen again. The difference between myself and hubby is that my need/desire for another baby outweighs my fears of depression where as he would be on the receiving end again and obviously doesn't get that maternal tug for another like I do. It is hard and I hope you're hunny can look past what 'may' happen. (((HUGS)))

Well, as for me, I have started spotting so will be CD1 tomorrow, bang on schedule again. Argh!!!! Well I actually feel ok about it I wasn't expecting a miracle like last cycle lol. Plus my boobs are absolute agony at the min so I'll be glad the pain will wear off when she's here full flow. I'm going to ring the GP tomorrow for my swab results and I also have to book in for a smear as it's been 3 years since my last one and they sent me a reminder about it (woops!).

Hello to everyone and loads and loads of BabyDust ~ ~ ~

hopeforbundleofjoy · 06/03/2009 09:52

ive been told to wait 10 days if no period to take clomid for 5 days and see what happens then but ive been told to take the same dose again- going to see him on the 8th of next month will see what he says then. not building my hopes up of a 2009 baby now tho.

Clure · 06/03/2009 11:19

hello all

Welcome to new ladies.
Well STILL waiting for AF so as I can begin the clomid. Its ready and waiting!! Feeling so apprehensive. I do want another baby but at the moment the fears surrounding conception (or lack of), preganancy, being over 40 etc seem magnified.

Well off to take DD out to indoor playcentre - that should be fun

hugs to you all

sissy0928 · 06/03/2009 15:50

RAY - Not sure of your age, I'll be 40 this May so the FS isn't wasting any time trying everything he can I suppose...I understand how you feel regarding disappointment, this 1st IUI, I was so positive it would work, now I just had the 2nd Tuesday and am trying to not even think about it, but you know how that goes! I'm now on CD18, so it seems like forever until I can test. It almost seems that I'm living from AF to IUI to AF again...I'm taking the last week of the month off for DD's spring break, we'll have a nice relaxing week off together and go see what's fun in this new state we live in...hopefully that'll take my mind off of whatever the outcome is, and what next month will bring....
CLURE-I'm having the same fears, I'm scared I'm out of time and don't want to waste any and get right to it, but scared of the complications that could arise. I see so many others in our age range having babies and they are healthy, why can't we have the same?

sissy0928 · 06/03/2009 16:00

RAY and STAC - I'm so sorry, I just reviewed and see that my 1st message never went through to your first questions! I'm technologically disadvantaged, I apologize! I had my DD after 5 years of no BC at all, didn't think it was possible, but she surprised me! The relationship was awful, to say the least, so I got out of it. I married almost 3 years later and we tried for about 6 years when he came out and told me he actually knew he had infertility issues. I tried to stick with it, but after 9 years of another bad marriage, We divorced. I have now been in my current relationship for 2 years, he is still loving and wonderful, as if it were the 1st couple of weeks, and I went off of the pill about a year ago. My DD is so excited we are trying, she's been wanting a sibling since she was a tot. I actually didn't want to tell her we were trying as to not get her hopes up as well...but being the nosey girl she is, found an envelope with the FS name and info on it...
By the way, IUI is where they wash the sperm and inject it straight into the uterus...they scanned me first to make sure OV had occurred...if this one doesn't work, next month they want me to have it done on the day of the surge instead of day 2...

Clure · 06/03/2009 17:17

sissy hi to you and fingers crossed for a good result for you. Its always good that others totally get where you're coming from. My DD is 4 initially put off having another due to horrendous birth. Took clomid to concieve her, miraculously I concieved first time round!! Here's hoping that my eggs have not dwindled too much in quality.

BrandyBaby · 06/03/2009 18:00

Attila

Thank you for your kind words. My doctor and my mother said actually what you said! My doctor has told me she thinks I?m stressing to much and over thinking it. I just scared. I?m scared that I won?t ever get pregnant and won?t be able to provide a family for my husband and I, and grandchild for my parents. It?s my biggest fear. I guess I could be to anal about timing and ?everything having to be perfect?. I feel like I can?t waste another month though... Do you have any suggestions how to stay calm and not to try and do everything ?right?? I think I should still take robitussin though because of the clomid. My husband has good sperm and the doctor said sex every 24 hours will be good and wont deplete his sperm count. The doctor said we didn?t have to worry about that, my doctor and his doctor said the same thing about that.

Awen

I know... I know you guys are right. I just want to do everything I can to help my body get pregnant. I don?t know if it will happen though. I mean... All my testes and my husband?s testes came back all good. I still worry though.

ray81
