HerNameWasLola · 28/02/2009 16:13

Very quick post, off to the ILs... Just wanted to say welcome back to Ei, I'm glad you're getting through this together Will keep everything crossed for the consultant's app for you as well xx

Fruity re 7th: our plans have changed slightly since my friend blew me out But current thinking is that DH and I will drive up together and get to london about tea time, so if you have time for tea (and cake, obviously ) that would be lovely DH says he'll go and have a wander around while we gossip Anyone else about? I know Georgie's busy, but Bella maybe??? Be lovely to see any of you! xx

Fruity will fb you my mob no now xx

FruitynNutty · 28/02/2009 16:29

Tea time would be lovely. Where abouts are you aiming to be? Somewhere your DH can amuse himself for a couple of hours? and somewhere that's not a fortune to park would be nice too

I'm babysitting tonight, I reckon this one should be my last - just in case. I'd hate to have to call the parents half way through their evening if I go into labour Let's hope it doesn't happen tonight!

DS had his 1st gymnastics class this morning, it was so cute! He loved it
Mollie Who are you insured with? What does it cost?
Ei Good luck for Thursday - will be thinking of you xx

Emmsy1 · 01/03/2009 09:01

morning ladies,
a little on the worried side here, had my blood results back and Dr called me in to discuss them. Most of them were fine. the RF and ESR which I was very happy about but still no explanation about the joint pains.
Dr was concerned about my Gamma T (GGT) liver function test, it was 125! 2 other LFT's were only slightly raised but Dr said they were insignificant. He doesn't seem to think that it's alcohol related, told him I used to drink alot before children were born and that I still can over do it on the odd occassion, he still didn't think it was alcohol related. Dr is sending me for a Liver scan, he said he is not treating it as urgent so it will probably be about 6 weeks before I get my scan. One minute I'm up then I'm down, just want it over and done with so I can move on. Sorry to bring this crap on to this happy thread, just needed to let someone know how I'm feeling X

Molliemooma · 01/03/2009 11:20

Emmsy Do you drink a lot of diet drinks by any chance? Apparently they can cause a high reading for this particular test. I know it's hard but try not to worry, do not google and make sure your kids distract you for the next 6 weeks!
Fruity Originally insured the cats with sainsburys but they doubled the premiums the following year even though neither of them had treatment! So now with healthy pets.co.uk but if you get time have a shop around, the supermarkets are quite good, but I found direct line and more than quite a bit dearer. Hope you didn't give birth whilst babysitting

For those of you that need cheering up or want a laugh read this

SparklyPseudonym · 01/03/2009 17:30

Mollie LOL at that article. The food does look a bit mank...How many dpo are you? Can we symptom spot?
Emmsy I'm so sorry to hear you've been worrying. What is the normal rate for a GGT? I don't know much about the liver. I'm sure it's not alcohol related - even if you consumed a hell of a lot of alcohol pre-kids and I mean every day, your liver would have repaired itself by now. My mum had a liver scan last year because she was getting some pain and odd readings and they found some small lumps which they treated with medication and a slight change of her diet...I'm sure if it's anything at all then it will be something simple. Am thinking of you. Try not to worry. xx
Fruity How was babysitting? Did you pop?
Ei Lovely to 'see' you here and glad to read that things are improving. Lots and lots of luck for appointment. Let us know how you get on.
Bella I'll be 6 weeks at the scan on Fri. When did you have your first scan?

Not much to report here. Woke up this morning without sore norks so got in a huge panic but without in an hour they were hurting again. This week is going to drag....

HerNameWasLola · 01/03/2009 18:25

Fruity we're staying near Clapham Junction. We'll probably come in from the M3 but due to being rubbish I can't remember which roads that will be... do you think that will be any good for you? At least it's the right side of London Hope the babysitting didn't keep you up too late, are you sleeping any better now?

Emmsy no advice sorry, but at least your Dr doesn't seem unduly concerned. Hope the next 6 weeks go quickly for you, and that the symptoms improve

Sparkly LOL at "this week is going to drag" - this one, and the next 34! You're only allowed to go for your scan on Friday if you promise not to despair/throw yourself off a tall building if you don't see a hb or a fetal pole. It would only take implantation having been delayed by a couple of days for you to see neither, and all would still be fine. I know how overwhelming the urge "to just know" is though. Will be there holding your hand in spirit. There have been plenty of women on Knicker Checkers who have had 'inconclusive' first scans in what has turned out to be a healthy pg, so if it isn't quite as you hope please don't lose heart. I think the earliest I have heard of someone seeing a hb is 6+3. We saw one with Thomas at 6+5. You know it probably won't be an abdominal scan though right... The joy!

Mollie I saw that complaint letter too Very good. What you been up to this weekend young lady? Are you giving your DP a rest now

Where is everyone else? Come and tell us how you're celebrating it now being March and stinky January and February being OVER for another year! Wooo hoo!

BellaHarry · 01/03/2009 18:45

sparkly I was 8+5 when I had my first scan but it was only beacause I had a bleed. Good luck with yours!

Lola I can do next sat thats if that's what it is?

Emmsy I'm sorry about the upsetting result, I'm sure everything will be ok.

HerNameWasLola · 01/03/2009 18:58

Bella yes next saturday, great!

SparklyPseudonym · 01/03/2009 19:59

Lola Thanks for the post. I feel odd going for a scan at 6 weeks (actually I'll be 5+6 [wink[) knowing that I'll be pooping myself all weekend because I haven't seen a HB or fetal pole. I've read 6+3 is the earliest too so I'm sure they'll book me in for another scan. We should get an indication of what is going on. I want to start feeling really, really sick..please remind me that I asked for it!

FruitynNutty · 01/03/2009 22:19

Evening all,
Just watched Lost - more confusing sh*te as usual and no Sawyer to drool over

Emmsy I'm sorry your going through all this worry I'm sure everything will be just fine and like others have said, your GP doesn't seem too concerned, chin up

Lola Clapham Junction seems fine to me, I don't really go there much so don't know where we could go. Maybe Bella has an idea???? I know there's a Costa or something around there.

Sparkly I can't wait to remind you about you asking for MS!!!

Mollie Thanks for the advise about pet insurance. I'll look into it before Pheebs does something stupid! - She's quite cautious but you never know...

Just been to see my friend's new born bubba He's a strapping 9lb 13oz (only an ounce heavier than DS though!) He's absolutely gorgeous, big rosy fat cheeks and a grumpy expression She's called him Jude which I love! and it really suits him.

I got some bad news today. My cousin died this morning. He had Diabetes so most probably was a diabetic coma but he will need to have an autopsy to confirm it He was only 39 years old and his 11 year old son found him - You just don't expect it do you? I never really think of diabetes as a killer these days as it can be controlled. I feel so bad for his little boy and my Aunty
I remember he lived with us for a quite a while - I think I was about 7 or 8yrs old at the time. He used to show me bits of his Viz magazine which I used to think was really naughty I can't quite believe he's not here anymore.

mibbes · 01/03/2009 22:34

Hello lovely ladies

Sparkly so sorry to hear about your scare. I had a bright red bleed with Evan and some brown too - please don't worry too much (easier said than done I know !). I didn't have an early scan but would urge you to stay positive regardless of what they do or don't see on Fri, will be thinking of you xx.

Ei glad things are improving with DH hun, these things take time.

teehee glad you liked the CD. How are you feeling about the birth ?

Lola hi missus ! Am celebrating March by have yet another probiotic yogurt to help with nipple thrush - wwoohooo I know how to have fun !

Fruity any twinges ?... am getting excited now ! Actually no sign of you today..... oooohhhh don't do this to us ! You must check in every day unless baby is on the way !

Emmsy sorry to hear you're feeling down missus. Have no advice but listen to the other wise ladies xx.

Mollie hope you are feeling well and have symptoms-a-plenty soon

All well here. DS has started only waking once per night - hurray ! B00bs are still very sore and have had load sof shooting pains today - FFS I am sick of these painful boobies, wish mine were a bit more efficient at this BFing lark. Those of you considering BFing, please don't be put off by my experience as for most other mummies I know it has been far easier - I am the exception not the rule. Having said that, it does always hurt to begin with apparently but for most it gets easier after a few days. Am soooooooooooooooo exicted about all of these babies on the way

mibbes · 01/03/2009 22:36

ah ha there you are Fruity, x-posts. So sorry to hear about your cousin

scully · 02/03/2009 02:33

Too hot here for me to post over the weekend, 34deg yesterday with ridiculous humidity, even enjoyed grocery shopping with 2 children, just because of the air conditioning Today is 33deg, I highly recommend vacuuming in this heat, not I have other housework I should be doing, but given it's midday, it's too bloody hot!
Sorry to hear about your cousin Fruity I remember that happening to a teacher at my highschool, she was in her 50's. Diabetes can be so unpredictable, even for those who have had it under control for a while. My mum was diabetic, due to pancreatic cancer, it was a pain in the ass to control. Must have been so sad for his son, to find him
ds only waking once a night Mibbes, that's great, took both my girls at least a year to get to that point, they stayed at twice a night for a while.
Hope everything is ok Emmsy, I'm sure there are so many reasons that could affect liver test results, I'm sure whatever drinking you did pre-children isn't affecting it, that would count for most of the adult population I'm sure
Really hope it't not too early to see anything Sparkly, this Friday. Would you consider postponing it to next week, or would that be all too hard to wait that long?
Hi to everyone else

HerNameWasLola · 02/03/2009 07:38

Just wanted to post quickly for Sparkly - Sparkly you'll be honoured to know I was thinking of you when Iw as awake at 4am this morning trying to stop myself worrying about work! Just wanted to say that if the scan is inconclusive, which you know it prob will be, they'll make you wait another week at least before they do another one. Just in case that makes you tempted to wait until early the following week - by waiting longer you might actually find out sooner if that makes sense...

Fruity so sorry about your cousin

teeheelaydee · 02/03/2009 08:27

Morning Ladies

At last the sun seems to be shining - Is spring here? Oh God that means this baby will be here soon

Not long to wait until the scan Sparkly as Lola says there may not be much to see as at that stage days can make a huge difference. My 6 week scan turned out to be about 5+3 I think and I remember being more anxious- just want to prepare you. However, it will show you that the sac is in the right place and they checked for any bleeding in the uterus, plus they'll bring you back for another one so at least you won't be fighting to get a scan. Sound like you've got the right expectations though. Yes this week and many following will go slow - until you get to about 30 weeks and then a new panic dawns that it really is going to be another baby!

Oh Fruity so sorry about your cousin. 39 is no age and his poor son. How awful. Like you say you don't really think of diabetes as a killer. . Ei Still thinking of you too and your DH, must be hard to deal with your own loss and yet be strong for him too.

I recently cancelled my pet insurance as they put the premium up and the excess and there was so much they didn't cover that we found we were shelling out anyway, but Biff is 13 so hard to get insured and expensive. We now put the equivalent money in a savings account then we can use it for jabs and stuff too.

Emmsy It's natural to be worried the unknown is usually worse than the reality. Take comfort in the fact that the doctor isn't too concerned.

Mibbes I listened to some of the CD before bed last night - think I fell asleep while it was on but hopefully it still went it! I am still a bit nervous about the birth but not too bad as am starting to feel better about all the stuff that comes when you get baby home. Dare I say I am getting excited! I am in awe of your perseverance with the BF, I know I've said it before but it is amazing. I just hope you are rewarded by it getting easier soon

Scully Poor you - bet the ceiling fans were working overtime. Does it get better?

Not much going on here - just more baby shopping? Spent some time pottering in the nursery yesterday and have started sorting out hospital bag. Can't have done too bad with the nieces and swimming last week as my services have been requested again today, although my brother did point out that they don't get to have a swim after their lesson and get straight out - oops! Although I think that's a bit mean but hey who am I to argue!

Updated myself on the list - not sure about everyone else - Mollie and EI I have a feeling you won't be on the bench for long as you both seem to be on the case and are being really positive and proactive and Ei Soooooo impressed with the weight loss - well done!

I'm so bored of work!! I've been working since before 8 and I've had enough already but at least I'm distracted from reading m/c stories and statistics, googling ultrasound pictures and generally driving myself bonkers...
Teehee and Lola I don't know why the doc and EPU booked me in for a scan so early. I'm just hoping it will show that things are developing as they didn't with the blighted ovum so I'm hoping I'll feel some relief as well as a whole load of new worry. Am still boob prodding.
Lola Even I was asleep at 4am. Bless you [grin[. I feel honoured. I'm not sure how I would re-arrange the scan as the GP booked it over the phone with the EPU..
Scully Sorry to read it's still stupidly hot. You should be relaxing missy. Buggar the housework.
Mibbes Great news about Evan sleeping so well but sorry to hear you're still sore. You've done amazingly well to go for this long given how difficult you;ve found it. You should be so proud of yourself. xxx
Fruity I could do with a cuddle fix so hurry up and pop!! So sorry to read about your uncle . Hope you're ok.

This post has taken me ages to write so I'd better get back to work...actually I think I'll go and pick up DD so we can enjoy the sunshine . Anything to avoid work.

FruitynNutty · 02/03/2009 13:26

Just back from midwife appointment. It seems I can only make massive babies.
My tummy is measuring 39cm (should be 37cm) That's two weeks too big! I've got to have a growth scan tomorrow morning which will also tell us which way around he's facing. That's all I need, a breech whopper!

I'm still in shock about my cousin, I rarely see him and haven't seen him for a long time but it doesn't seem real. I think because the only other person in my family who's died (in my lifetime) was my Granny. But she was really elderly and had alzheimers so was sort of expected. Thanks for all the sympathy by the way

Teehee Good idea to put money into savings for pet insurance. I'm not sure we'd save enough though to cover any bills Could probably only manage a fiver a month!

FruitynNutty · 02/03/2009 14:14

OMG! I've just seen our old friend Yarnie's back. She's just poked her head onto the March ante-natal thread.

HerNameWasLola · 02/03/2009 17:54

I'M SO TIRED AND I FEEL RUBBISH. There. Done.

Fruity I know I shouldn't laugh, but 'breach whopper' did make me chuckle, sounds like a new delicacy from Burger King There are LOADS of coffee places on the Northcote Rd, just down from Clapham Jnct if you're sure that's ok with you? You too Bella? Teehee lovely to hear you getting excited

Sparkly given what you've said already and Teehee's comments above I think I'd probably stick with Friday's app in the knowledge that they'll see you again in a week's time. As you say, just seeing a sack in the right place will be ressuring. AND STOP GOOGLING!! That way madness lies

Scully hope it cools down for you soon. Just been reading about the shark attacks in Sydney Another one off the holiday list for you perhaps!

mibbes I salute you. What more can I say?!?! When do you plan to continue bf til ideally? You are an inspiration to us all! Don't think I would have managed it in your position though!

That's it for now ladies. Off for a lie down I think...

HerNameWasLola · 02/03/2009 19:13

Am back. Apologies for a quick and me-me-me based post, but need some reassurance. Have been feeling a bit rubbish, nothing extraordinary or, frankly, unusual atm, but turns out I have an upset tummy.... Can someone please tell me this isn't a sure sign of something hideous happening with bub? Having thought about it quite carefully, have concluded that I don't really feel sick or achy or have any abdominal pain, although still a bit rubbish generally...

So what do you think? WISH next scan was sooner than next monday, but think just hearing the hb would make me feel a lot better, it has after all been 11 whole days since I last heard it Don't know whether to try to see someone to have another listen tomorrow, I know the mw said to go whenever I wanted, but she probably didn't mean once a week! Plus work is a bit of a bastard atm. Nothing very complicated so far, but am picking cases up at the last minute and having to hold it all together. Can't help thinking that sooner or later I'll come unstuck...

FruitynNutty · 02/03/2009 19:40

Just to reassure you Lola I've also had a dodgy tummy this weekend. I think there's a bug going round as a few people I know (and their kids) have the same.
Nowt to worry about Just drink loads of water!

FruitynNutty · 02/03/2009 19:44

Oh and Northcote road sounds great. I'll try to leave DS at home, not sure what DP's up to though

BellaHarry · 02/03/2009 19:45

Lola and fruity Clapham junction, well probably best to park in Asda and there is a Costa by the station so DH tells me. fruity it makes sense if I pick you up on my way through, save on two journeys and I'll be coming your way??

fruity I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin, it really is such a shock! What a poor little boy, loosing his dad so young! That is terrible!

FruitynNutty · 02/03/2009 20:07

Yes please Bella come and pick me up

mibbes · 02/03/2009 21:36

Ei well done you on the impressive weight loss . I have stopped losing baby weight and horror of horrors have started putting it back on, so am cutting back (a wee bit) on chocolate treats .

Lola I had several upset tums when PG, I think you are more sensitive to upset tummies when you're PG so don't worry. However, if there is a chance you could hear the HB to reassure you then why not ?...t

Fruity sorry but LOL at your upside down monster baby - hope he is not as big as the bump suggests and that he is heading out in the right direction - good luck for tomorrow xx

teehee am so glad you are feeling better about things. I think as the big day drew closer I resigned myself to the fact that it wouldn't be pretty or fun but it was going to happen and I had to deal with whatever happened at the time. As for the 'at home' bit, I am amazed at how much easier it was than I expected. I thought I'd be checking the room temp constantly and just generally panicking I was doing stuff wrong... in reality common sense kicks in and I was surprisingly relaxed about the whole thing. There were obviously moments where we were frantically googling "how to calm windy baby etc..." but generally it was far easier than expected and the instinct that seems to appear from nowhere is to be trusted - people said to me beforehand "trust your instincts, mummy knows what is best for her baby" and to my shock they were right !!! Have you read the Baby Whisperer ? I have not followed her routine (as I had planned to) but she has great sections on spotting what baby's cry/body language tells you - very useful. I have a spare copy if you'd like it ? (DP bought me it for xmas even though I had it by my side from when DS was born - typical man paying no attention !)
