grownupbabes you're right, of course. But I'm not cross with myself or anything, just sick of the emotional stress, so decided to step back and not obsess. This is actually quite easy this month as I was so upset last, and there's no way I want to put myself through that again for no reason. But I am quite upbeat in a general way. If AF arrives then I can have lovely wine and pate for Christmas, instead of trying to convince everyone that my normal relatively bibulous approach to the festive season is a lifestyle change, or some such..

rhetorician · 13/12/2008 09:11

xserial I can't get pg either... so know how you feel.

rowingboat · 13/12/2008 15:57

Hi all,
I knooow, I actually don't feel like being positive in a big way, just in a 'it's possible' kind of background way and getting on with life in the foreground. Not that I am ready to hang up my bootees yet, but not willing to get all miserable every cycle.
You do need a bit of something to keep going, but you can't sustain the excitement of the first few months unless you are taking some serious drugs.
We are on day thingy, nine or ten I think.
Have lots of appointments in January for IVF, but not getting too excited because a.) don't believe I can get pg until proven wrong and b.)don't want to get a huuuge let-down if it doesn't work.
I am one of those Scroogy types who actually feels irritated by very happy positive types though, so please ignore me if necessary.

fruitbowl · 14/12/2008 00:31

Just lost a post half way through (big raspberry icon with knobs on)

Was saying...

Hello to all you despondent types and all you positive festive types. I'm with you both depending on what day of the week it is and how much choc is in the cupboard - cheers to you all.

We've had a few months off TTC and actually ahem done No BD-ing . Just shows yer how our sex life has been dominated by this malarkey for so-ooooooooo long . Or, perhaps I'm always up late on t'internet when DH goes to bed (so shall be brief).

CDay 1 today and back in the saddle for us this month - woo! No doubt I shall be joining you with the usual wishful thinking and 2WW craziness. This time round since finding out I have 1 blocked tube, am wondering whether a little eggy (coddled or not - like that joke grown=up!) will come down the right tube at all!

Warm wishes to all x

rowingboat · 14/12/2008 00:45

Hi Fruit, that is so typical isn't it!
That usually happens to me when I have, carefully, written a long email. Stupid Outlook logs me out. Grr! Then I write a short, curt email instead. Poor old recipient, must think 'what a cow!'
I'm sitting here watching the final X-factor which we recorded. Must go to beeed, work tomorrow.
Good luck with the bding. Nice to hear from you!

msdynamo · 14/12/2008 15:39

Hello Everyone,

Long time no see. Thought I'd drop in and say hi, especially as I'm in the list at the beginning as having disappeared. Well, my news is that unfortunately, after conceiving naturally and my PG this summer ending in a MC, I seem to have gone straight into menopause . I've had a couple of blood tests, an ultrasound and one of those special tests that tells you about ovarian reserve. I still can't quite believe it, but it's what the doctors tell me. Me and DP have decided to move straight onto IVF with donor eggs, using a clinic abroad. We have an appointment in a week, and apparently wont have to wait for a donor more than a month, it's not the perfect scenario but I've come to terms with it, so it's something exciting to give us hope

Having a quick browse throught the threads, just wanted to say to fruitbowl, that my friend who was 43 conceived immediately after having her tube unblocked. Fingers and everything else crossed for you xx

rowingboat · 14/12/2008 18:19

Ms Dynamo, that's such rotten luck. I'm sorry to hear about your mc, but glad to hear you aren't letting that stop you.
Where are you going for the IVF?
We are booked in for our local Edinburgh clinic, but also have an appointment on the 22nd of January in Hungary.
There's a great thread called assisted conception and all the bit in between, where a lot of people have had IVF and some have been overseas.

fruitbowl · 14/12/2008 21:47

Hi again rowing. Someone up later than me on this thread? Hope you managed to get up for work!

Big wave to MsDynamo! U were so lovely to me when we both had our MCs in the summer and now more kind words - lovely you - thanks! Sorry to hear about the menopause. I bet that was a nasty shock. I'm kind of expecting I might be told the same after I get all these test results back in Jan. Glad you've got a postive plan to focus on. Best of luck to you both for those appointments.

Hi everyone else. Got a splitting headache and a cat that's demanding attention and treading and dribbling on my pc. I'm gonna escape to bed. Only place for some peace and ruddy quiet!

x

xserialshopper · 15/12/2008 12:57

MsDynamo sorry to hear about your mc and that you've gone into early menopause

Fruitbowl Good to hear from you again

Rowing You've got a busy time ahead of you. I hope everything goes well.

Well, tis the season to be jolly - so - since I'm not I'm going back to lurking until after Christmas.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

((waves and closes the door on the way out))

OP posts:
fruitbowl · 15/12/2008 21:13

(waves some tinsel in a festive sort of way to xerial and any other lurkers) .

It's kind of quiet in here...

(goes back to eating jaffa cakes)

FertilityFiend · 15/12/2008 23:07

fruitbowl - may I gesture to the Christmas tree that I have just decorated and the picture and mirror that are sporting festive (if not entirely symmetrical) tinsel drapes?

Feeling slightly guilty as I need to do a big catch up with everyone so have been putting it off till I can do it properly, I'm so crap... as well as infertile... hrummmph.

Oh by the way did anyone notice that thread the other night about the cervix
here
amazing...

Well on Day 10 (I think) here, getting some cramping already though it can't be anything baby related, as have done no BDing since AF (crap again...) Actually I have a cramping question - I get quite a lot of cramping between Ov and AF, especially on Day 9 (AF usually comes Day 12). I don't recall this happening before ttc, but then that's maybe just because I never took much notice. Does anyone else get this? Is it meaningful??

Well - sending everyone cheery(ish) festive vibes, will catch up properly soon

rowingboat · 16/12/2008 00:39

Hullo, I'm here. Up late as usual. We have a horrible tree, which my four year old has decorated by putting a heap of tinsel on one bit and chocolate decorations all around the bottom, so he can eat them. It looks ghastly and it isn't even near a socket so we can put the lights on.
Can't be bothered changing it, so that's the tree this year. I'm learning to let go, can't control everything - learnt that from TTC.
Merry chocccies everyone!!!

Kudu · 16/12/2008 16:56

Ladies, I hope you are well and looking forward to Christmas

I was formerly BroodyBroodyBroody and I joined this thread (or its predecessor) in the summer. I just noticed that my former name is on your BFP list so I thought I would update you with the latest.

I conceived as Broody in my first cycle of ttc (at 40yrs 6mths) but sadly had a mmc at 11wks 5days. We chose not to ttc during the first post-af. We started ttc again after this first af had ended. I was gearing up to test but then I thought af had arrived ....however, it didn't seem to get going and after 9days of spotting, I thought I would do an hpt to rule pg out but it came back +ve. I was and but cautious too.

The spotting has now stopped and my m/w has booked me in for an early scan at 7.2wks.

I conceived this pg at 40yrs 10mths, first month again so those statistics are rubbish!

Fingers crossed for all of you, myself included!

rowingboat · 16/12/2008 19:10

Kudu, that's fantastic news! You are right the stats are not. There doesn't seem to be much research really, as has been pointed out on this thread many times, but what there is has been conducted on couples with fertility issues.
Hope you are well and stay well.

fruitbowl · 17/12/2008 11:39

FertlitityF lovin the xmas tree and tinsel adornments! Yes my god! those cervix photos are shocking but strangely compelling!

Rowing I am SO jealous that you've learnt to let go. I am SO-oooo anal and controlling, especially about the tree decos. How can I be more chilled? (I know, a pint of sherry..)

kudu so sorry about your MC . Absolutely thrilled you are pg - wonderful news. Everything crossed for you this time.

I'm today as today is the due date for the baby we lost in the summer. My hub said I shouldn't dwell on the past but I said I needed to be sad and didn't want to forget the little one, after which he went out and bought me a lovely bunch of flowers ahhhh

effingnora · 17/12/2008 11:43

Hi ladies- 40 yrs 11 months and have just had a positive test after quite some years trying. Am in shock...

rowingboat · 17/12/2008 12:53

Fruit, sorry about your loss.

xserialshopper · 17/12/2008 13:02

Congratulations effingnora (your name makes me smile) How long have you been trying????? (clutching at straws since more than 5 years trying (((though not as long as FF))) Kudu Congrats and 'you go girl' Yay!

Rowing It's always such a joy to read your posts regardless of which tread you post on

FF what can I say that cervix shocker pages was - well - shocking

Merry chocccies everyone!!! (((waves to everyone))) [waving emoticon]

OP posts:
effingnora · 17/12/2008 13:13

x- over 5 years. Not wanting to release too many details at this stage (I hope you understand), but have had one confirmed pregnancy in that time that ended in miscarriage relatively late.

rowingboat · 17/12/2008 13:15

Thank you Xserial, and you!
Effinora, well done, hope this is a sticky one, you must be feeling so happy (and apprehensive)

xMASserialshopper · 17/12/2008 21:02

((stares at the Christmas tree - is it me or is that tree leaning to the left?))

rowingboat · 18/12/2008 17:36

Xserial I think it must be the tree. Mine looks a bit squiffy as well, after DS 'decorated' it.

grownupbabes · 18/12/2008 20:45

Hello everyone... it's hard-going at this time of year...

effingnora what can I say but effing heck you bring joy to my xmas heart. Everything crossed for this one to continue beautiful and healthful for you and same to you kudu superwomb.

As for the cervix thread, what can I say... eeeuwww I really don't want EVER to get this carried away with TTC!

In the meantime, back on the subject of Xmas trees... mine looks, as ever, like the waste paper basket has been up-ended over it. But each decoration has meaning - the cut-out thing that DS1 made in nursery (16 years ago!), the macaroni thing that DS2 made in nursery (13 yrs ago and a bit soggy now!!) and even worse, the flabby baked dough ornaments (likewise DS) ETC. Who cares??? Nothing a glass of cava won't fix . I just finished work today so HAPPY XMAS!

fifitot · 18/12/2008 20:50

I am sitting eating some Reeses cups (mmmmmmmmm) and wondering how I'm going to get some BDing when my fertile time coincides with Xmas Day and we will be at my parents, me and DH and LO all in the same room! Typical!

xMASserialshopper · 18/12/2008 20:59

Fifitot - that's a tricky one
