Hello again!
Been neglecting this thread for afew days as Missie and Mr Moo both had a tummy bug. Luckiliy I dodged that bullet, but still had two whiney children to look after even though I only gave birth to one of them and the other's in his thirties(hmm).

AF started yesterday, which means by my calulations I'll ovulate around about 1st Dec. I probably shouldn't ttc this cycle as my due date would be end August and, knowing my luck, I'll deliver a week early like I did with dd.

Don't think Mr Moo is really in the mood anyhow with his dicky tum

Bratnav No I don't hail from Taunton. I'm a boring Home Counties suburban type.

bratnav · 15/11/2008 11:54

Ah, sorry, must be someone with a similar name. HCs are not boring!

mosschops30 · 15/11/2008 15:59

Nowt wrong with this thread, it was the original

Plan is to wait for AF (probably 10th December), then decide whether to take a chance and ttc in December or wait til January. Still undecided as to whether to buy ovulation kit
Have put in next years annual leave in work which tellingly only has holidays up to August did throw one red herring in and booked a week in October which I hopefully wont need. At this rate will never get pg as so stressed and tired with work.

bratnav · 17/11/2008 11:36

What do you do Moss?

Nice touch with the holidays btw

Lovely weekend, but a bit worried that we seem to be out partying a bit at the moment, most unlike us.

makka · 17/11/2008 11:45

Hi ladies- can i join you? I am ttc dc2 and it's taking a while. Have just got af so based on when i will ov if i fall pg at that time my dc2 will be due end aug/beg sept.

How's everyone else doing?

mosschops30 · 17/11/2008 12:15

bratnav I am an ITU nurse, I work 12 hour shifts so am constantly knackered Hows it going are you actively ttc now?

hi makka welcome to the thread, and good luck ttc.

I am just waiting for AF now before we can start trying, dh is already enjoying getting it more than once a month

OP posts:
bratnav · 17/11/2008 13:45

Blimey Moss, what a fantastically worthwhile job! Must be really hard work, I just work in an office faffing about with marketing and I get tired enough doing that!

I suppose we are TTC now, but definitely chilling with it, just lots of sex

Welcome to you Makka, of course you are welcome, good luck TTC.

mosschops30 · 17/11/2008 16:19

dont say 'just in an office' from what i remember from my days as a secretary it can be equally demanding and stressful. I think most jobs are , I have good and bad days, sometimes I come from there feeling Ive made a difference, most days Im just glad Ive survived the shift

My friend just had a baby, am sooo our ds's are friends and we met at baby massage classes, I wish we'd done it together again, but am so pleased for her.

Bratnav what are your plans for birth, I am seriously considering home so am not in stinking hospital and forced to have unecessary interventions

OP posts:
bratnav · 17/11/2008 16:23

I would love home, but I think DP is a bit wary of that as his exW ended up nearly dying when she had DSD. I might try and raise the subject once I am pg, but I know that the experience really affected him, so I wont push it too much.

We have a lovely bathroom, plenty big enough for a birthing pool....

mosschops30 · 17/11/2008 16:26

Oh Im sorry about that.

I dont know, dh hates the idea of it he thinks its crazy, but I had 2 normal deliveries and we live close to birth centre and main univeristy hospital so wouldnt be too much of a risk. May start a home birth thread when I finally get pg and see what the general opinion is.
Did you have your other 2 in hospital?

OP posts:
bratnav · 17/11/2008 16:52

yes, DD1 no problems at all, 12 days late, 9lb14oz, G&A and a few stitches easy peasy.

DD2 induced due to back problems 15 hours of minute-long contractions every 4 minutes, ended up with a picotin (sp?) drip, epidural, bloody nightmare, she was 6lb15oz.

Will never be induced again, bloody awful

bratnav · 17/11/2008 16:54

Actually you mentioned a good argument to put to DP, we are a 5 minute drive from the maternity hospital thanks moss!

How about you, were yours relatively easy (well no complications anyway)?

mosschops30 · 17/11/2008 16:59

oops dont blame me!!!

dd took forever (25 hours) but delivery was easy, few stitches
ds was induced as I was 15 days over but only 6 hours and again easy delivery and no stitches.

I just know that in hospital they like to do stuff even when its not really necessary, they impose what 'they' think should be done rather than listening to you.
I think also that if anything went wrong its 5 minutes and I would be seen immediately, and as you probably know if youre on a labour ward you will wait much longer than 5 minutes to see a consultant.

Spoke to a guy in work (pretending I wanted to know for my 'friend') about his wifes home births, she had all 3 at home and he said it was amazing and that after the 1st one they could have done it without the mw's.

I just love the thought of having the baby, getting in my own shower, putting on some clean pj's and going to bed with my baby sounds perfect

What are we like not even pg yet

OP posts:
bratnav · 17/11/2008 17:03

I know, but that does sound fab. With DD1 I pleaded to stay at home once I was in labour, I only went to the hospital because exH and my Mother insisted, I was just comfortable there. By the time I got to hospital I was 8cm and had been labouring at home for 10 hours, after I got to the hospital it took another 8 hours for 2cm and pushing

mosschops30 · 17/11/2008 17:04

makes you wonder doesnt it?
I think if the pregnancy has been trouble free and youre not 50 miles from the nearest hospital then its ok.

Ohhhh i wanna be pg now (i just want a year off work )

OP posts:
bratnav · 17/11/2008 20:48

See that is the opposite to my situation, I love my job and have just started it after a career change, I am dreading telling them, although very excited about having a baby

TrixieVix · 18/11/2008 09:59

Hello all - I'm still here!!

I really fancy the idea of a home birth - DS was born in hospital, but was 12 hours from start to finish - no induction, no intervention - 9lbs 3oz and no stiches dunno what that says about me!!

So, I do fancy the idea of an HB, but DH is wary. We've moved house since we had DS and now live a further 15 mins from the hospital and he says it's just too far in case anything were to go wrong...like you, I like the idea of having baby, having a birthing pool in the en-suite, pop the baby out, then have a wonderful shower and get into bed for cuddles all round! Am going to research once I'm pg and convince DH

And another reason I'm in favour of an HB - DH's psycho ex works as a midwife at our local hospital - not sure I fancy her fannying about with my downstairs

bratnav · 18/11/2008 10:29

snort at 'fanny about with my downstairs'

MissieMoosMummy · 21/11/2008 15:06

I would love to try a home birth this time, since my previous hospital birth was very straightforward. Of course I think it was trouble free in hindsight - at the time I thought I was having the worst, most excrutiating and miserably painful time, moreso than any woman in the history of childbirth . The reality is that I had a shot of pethidine and pushed out, a perfect, healthy 5lb 8oz child with no worse to show for the experience than a teeny tiny tear.

So I'd like to try it again without the theatrics, which I might manage by being relaxed at home. Unfortunately, I live in a tiny, overstuffed flat with no room to swing a cat, let alone a midwife and birth pool (sighs). We're probably moving to a new town next year & will get some place bigger, but if my conception plans work, I'm not keen on changing my ante-natal care half way through pregnancy or taking on the hassle of house hunting when I've constantly got my face in a loo.

bratnav · 22/11/2008 19:20

Mentioned the idea to DP, he looked like this for about half an hour

MissieMoosMummy · 22/11/2008 23:13

Never mind bratnav. Or was he green with envy that he wouldn't get to lounge around in his own personal hot tub for 10 hours, whilst a bevy of women offered him praise, backrubs and cool refreshing drinks?

VerifiedLU4097 · 24/11/2008 09:28

Bad cough and TTC don't go together, esp when coughing fit coincides with post coital relaxation- my body is not interested in conceiving ARGHHH!!! DH only here at weekends too- getting fed up. December should be better what with Xmas hols and all.

bratnav · 24/11/2008 10:46

DP is off to France tomorrow for 3 days for work
