Dawn I'm so glad to hear the test itself went ok and you weren't as bad as expected afterwards. You take care of yourself and stay snuggled up under the duvet (best place to be at the minute IMO!!!!)

Hope everyone else is doing ok and not freezing in this crazy weather! I think I might work from home tomorrow - the bbc's prediction of 8 inches of snow scared me this morning

summerbird · 03/12/2008 11:36

I wish we had snow, all i get is a bit of icy rain, booo.

OP posts:
saz007 · 03/12/2008 14:45

I got my results this afternoon, they came back as low risk for both spina bifida and down's - I'm really chuffed with that.

summerbird · 03/12/2008 16:31

That's great news saz a lot less for you to worry about. I dont have my bloods taken for another two weeks.

The TTCers have been quiet - whats new? MAF are you any further forward on your EuroBaby?

DawnAS · 03/12/2008 18:02

Hi All,

Saz, brilliant news about your test results hun.

Summerbird, hi Hun, we haven't got snow either, but we never really get it down here, the sea salt in the air tends to turn it to rain before it lands.

Feeling fine today physically but a little up and down emotionally. Read something this morning that said if there is a Nasal Bone visible on the scan, it's very unlikely that the baby will have Downs. During the scan the Sonographer said that there was a nasal bone and looking at the scan now it looks like there is. But DH thought the nose was somewhere else so now I'm worried that I'm looking at the wrong thing. But surely the Sonographer wouldn't have said that the nasal bone was there if it wasn't would she? Also, my result from the scan was low risk at 1:743, surely that would have been higher risk if they hadn't seen a nasal bone as that's a classic sign of Downs...

Can you tell that I'm panicking a bit. DH really doesn't help sometimes...

xxx

crunchynutter · 03/12/2008 22:12

dawn as you know I am far from an expert but I don't think the sonographer would have mentioned the nasal bone unless she was pretty positive. Surely professionalism would keep you from giving any false hopes or worries?! Tomorrow will be tough for you but it will be her soon enough. I hope you see feeling okay in yourself today and not in too much pain xx

summerbird · 04/12/2008 09:46

dawn honey you are panicking however i would be too, in fact i would be an emotional wreck. As crunchy has said - the sonographer is a professional and wouldnt make a comment she wasnt sure of. Fingers crossed for tomorrow x

OP posts:
saz007 · 04/12/2008 10:01

Thanks guys

Dawn I agree with Crunchy and Summer the sonographer wouldn't had said anything they weren't 100% on. I know it's easy to say don't worry, but please try not to stress too much - you should be taking it easy and resting.
Do you have to phone up for your results or do they get them to you? Fingers and toes are crossed for you tomorrow hun xxx

The weather is a bit grim here, it hasn't stopped snowing since about 5am - it looks really pretty outside, but I think it's another day where it doesnt get above zero! I'm SO glad I'm inside keeping warm

fairywing · 04/12/2008 17:41

Well ladies hope we are well and those on the 2WW are resisting testing - i did one yesterday BFN but not actually due till the weekend. Symptoms, well there arent any really other than a tiny bit of EWCM. Ah well we'll see.

DawnAS · 04/12/2008 17:43

Hi guys,

Well, more bad news today. Apparently the Consultant didn't take enough blood so we have to go through the whole prodedure again...

We've decided though that due to the increased risk of MC with having another CVS and the fact that it was bloody painful, we've decided to have an Amnio at 16 weeks (although more likely 17 as I'm 16 wks on Xmas Eve). The risk of MC is lower, it's not as painful and it's a much easier procedure.

I've already missed the window anyway, if the results were bad and had to have a termination. We would have to have an induced labour now anyway instead of a surgical termination. My biggest fear is that I will feel the little one move by the time the amnio comes around and then it will be even more real.

I didn't realise so much could go wrong for one person - unfortunately it can!!

Gosh don't I sound selfish. I know that others are going through really hard times and I really don't know what I'd do without all you girls!! Thank you as always for your support.

fairywing · 04/12/2008 19:37

Oh Dawn i'm so sorry you are having an awful time. I hope everything works out for you.

FlirtyThirty · 04/12/2008 19:43

Dawn darling...I'm just catching up on all this drama...what a hell of a time you're having! I'm so, so sorry for you.
You don't sound at all selfish...you sound sad and frustrated and anxious...and all are totally understandable! You are actually coping incredibly well. Honestly.

I think your decision to wait for the amnio is wise. And really don't worry about feeling movement - I'm 20 weeks and still find it hard to decipher geenral stomach grumbles form anything that might be 'baby'.

I have a good feeling for you...not that that will mean much...but thought I'd say anyway.

Remember that the odds are in your favour, not against you. I hope taht you can get a firm date for your next appointment soon so that you know what your next target is. Hang in there...you're doing just great!

Huge hugs!
Flirty xxx

fairywing · 04/12/2008 20:41

Erm i jus had another moment of weakness and got a very very very feint.....BFP. Not going to get too excited yet, will test with a digital in a couple of days. Not actually due til Sun/Mon. Eeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!!

MichaelaS · 05/12/2008 01:21

oooh fairywing how exciting!!! I am also due to test sometime this weekend, planning on Sat morning I think which will be 11 or 12 DPO.

hang in there dawn, it sounds like you're coping very well considering. you don't sound selfish at all.

Who else is still on this thread? Anyone watching but keeping quiet?

makingafamily · 05/12/2008 01:30

I'm here! I did post a message earlier but it doesnt seem to be here?!?!

The message pretty much said....

Fairy WOW WOW WOW a feint bfp is BFP

Dawn I'm so sorry for everythin you and DP are going through

and then i said to update my ttc status i started this thread......

"I have been trying to get pregnant for the last few months with a known donor (we are a gay couple) But last month (due to legal disagreements) we stopped. I had a pretty normal period, although a bit lighter than normal (sorry if tmi)

So we are now going down the unknown route and puchasing some swedish sperm grinand have our first appointment at the fertility clinic next month

Anyway, i have still been charting and this month OV'd early for me on day CD14. I have charted for the last month and have a 9/10 days luteal phase which has worried me. I am now on CD 30 and still no AF, thats 5/6 days late. I have done lots of pregnancy tests and BFN (although remember i havent tried to concieve this month)

Spoke to my Dr today and she has referred me for bloods tomorrow to check for an eptopic pregnancy as apparently your luteal phase doesn't usually change without a medical reason and for the last week i have had odd cramping in my stomach

HELP??? Any ideas/adice appreciated

D x"

Anyway, i've no response and will be sticking to this thread from now on (even though i feel a bit of a fraud being on a TTC'ers thread when i'm not TTC at the mo )

saz007 · 05/12/2008 08:25

Dawn I'm truly truly sorry for everything that you seem to be going thru at the minute. OMG you do not sound selfish at all, you're coping brilliantly - much better than I would ever do. I think waiting for the amnio is wise and I have to say that I havent felt a single thing and I'm 17 weeks today.

Ooooooh fairywing how exciting, as they say a BFP is a BFP [fgrin}

Good luck for the other girls testing this weekend

MAF sorry I don't have any advice but it's good to hear from you. I hope everything goes ok for you at the docs

summerbird · 05/12/2008 12:58

Dawn you are not selfish at all, you are doing just fine and i completely echo fliry's message (what a lovely thoughtful post by the way flirty). You are stronger than you realise, and waiting for the amnio is a good call too. You take care and get plenty of rest.

fairywing you cant get a negative positive - i think you are joining the club!!!! [fgrin)

MAF i cant offer any advice but can offer support in bucketloads!

girlwithacurl · 05/12/2008 14:50

Hello, Can I join you?
We have been TTC since last March, one MC in Sept and just settling down now! Have managed many years on this earth without realising how much about my body changed during the monthly cycle and have only just realised that for months we have been timing BD'ing as though we were "normal" (ha ha ha). As I seem to have a long cycle it would seem what we actually did was tire ourselves out way too early and give up by the time I actually ovulated . Now I am a fully proficient temperture taking, CM monitoring, POAS'er and fully aware of what my body is doing at all times .
All my friends and family seem to get PG soon as look at it... but I am now feeling in control... if only I would actually ovulate this month...

So, hello everyone [wave].
I do have a confession though... I hate grapefruit juice and am completly unable to make myself drink it!

fairywing · 05/12/2008 14:51

MAF hope everything turns out ok hun.

Well i tested again today with FMU and got another faint line so i guess i'm pregnant
I've just bought 2 more cheapies and a clear blue so that i can keep checking until after my period was due. Not sure i will beliee it till then and i suppose it could be one of those chemical pregnancies still, not sure how common they are. I have no idea how i managed to get through a day at work without telling anyone or bursting!! Wasn't able to concentrate very well!!! When did all you pregnant ladies accept that you really were pregnant??

What an early christmas present

summerbird · 05/12/2008 15:34

fairywing it took me ages I took four PG tests and wouldnt believe it until i saw the clear blue digital one. Then i kept waiting for symptoms and once i felt sick i was starting to believe it - in fact it wasnt until i saw the scan that it finally hit me.

Well done lady! Happy Christmas!! [hgrin]

summerbird · 05/12/2008 15:35

ps - welcome girlwithacurl sorry to hear about your MC but am heartened to see you picking yourself up - welcome aboard!

OP posts:
saz007 · 05/12/2008 15:37

Fairy when I had my scan and could see it moving on the screen!!!
No really, I had excepted it before then, but as I'd had no symptoms (I know I'm really lucky to have escaped the morning sickness with just a few queasy days) I did think I was just making it up!
Congrats to you, I'm excited for you!!!!

Hello GWAC welcome to the best TTC thread!

ttc2yrs · 05/12/2008 20:59

guys, can you tell me your opinion? We've been ttc for 2 years now... I had a faint positive the other day, but have had 2 negatives since?! Same brand as I got the positive with (Sainsbury's one), and another faint positive (just 1 week late)... help?

MichaelaS · 05/12/2008 23:25

Hi ttc2yrs, what time of day did you take the tests? Using FMU is the most likely to show positive.

If you had a positive then negatives after that time and haven't had a positive since, then I'd say its not looking great. But if you had a positive, some negatives, then another positive I would just guess its the hormone fluctuating in your blood.

best way to find out is wait a few days and try again.

good luck!

fairywing · 06/12/2008 10:43

MichaelaS did you test yet??
