hi lb gr8 2 hear from you hope you are taking it easy

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 08/09/2008 16:25

erm i'll only be 8 weeks today... but its getting blimin awful even despite the medicine working for the first week or so...

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 08/09/2008 16:28

sorry- i sound so me, me,me... i just feel like i'm the only one... i dont know anyone else who's ever suffered hyperemesis, and with DS i had a 50% chance of coming out the other end ok, and then if i came out ok only a 30% chance of his survival because of how malnourished i'd been... I know i'm getting seen to this time but just worry it'll spiral so fast and i'll be in a hospital bed for weeks on drips!!

Diege · 08/09/2008 16:29

Hello! GYO, good advice there from SES re; your 'friend' - I'm sure the direct apporoach (albeit tactful) may get through. Is she a very close friend? Just wondering how she'll be with you when baby is born?
SES, I think 8 weeks is the best time to go for a early scan personally as you can see a heartbeat, but can appreciate how scary this must all be for you.
Good to hear from you LB - sounds like you are tackiling things really well. Don't qorry about harming the baby with stress - women live in war zones and have perfectly healthy babies!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 08/09/2008 16:29

maybe i should start a thread about it so others who've had it a second time can tell me of their stories and hopefully reassure me!!

SesHasapinkline · 08/09/2008 16:31

Glaskham - don't worry! I feel like I'm always me, me, me too! I can't imagine how draining and worrying hyperemesis is and would far rather you posted so that we can listen and support. Is anything staying down at the moment? Water even?

lardybump · 08/09/2008 16:32

Thanks everyone and diege I had never thought of it like that..

Diege · 08/09/2008 16:33

x-post Glask - sounds like you are really suffering. I've had hyperemesis with all 3 (in hospital with dd1 and 3) so do have some feel for what you are going through. Sounds like your GP is trying to pass the buck a little, as there are far stronger and more modern anti-emetics than what you are on (but of course it starves the budget!)Maybe mention trying something different to him/her?? Tell him your friend who is a dr. told you : I am a dr. of Sociology (PhD) but he needn't know that

lardybump · 08/09/2008 16:40

Wow diege I didn't know you were a Dr of sociology you must be so clever. I did it at A level and that was hard enough!!!!

Glask I am so sorry you are so ill, really hope your doc gives you something stronger, I really feel for you.

I am 16 weeks now but am the size of a bus. I normally wear size 8. So I should be in size 8 or 10 maternity clothes right??? Well I am not I am in size 12 maternity wear. How unreal is that. The stuff I wore for the first 2o weeks of my last pg doesnt even fit. My legs are huge as is my bum (and the rest of me infact)!!!!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 08/09/2008 16:46

thanks Diege- never knew you had hyperemesis.. glad i'm not the only one... i'm able to keep food down for about 10-15mins at the moment... so at least its able to go down, i know without the medicine i'd have not eaten a thing in the last 2 weeks, so its doing some good at least!!

Diege · 08/09/2008 16:46

LOL LB, thanks for the complement but I am not especially clever (OK, I am at sociology but not much else!).
I don't think size 12 maternity sounds big at all

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 08/09/2008 16:51

and i also dont think size 12 doesn't sound so big at all either... i understand where you are coming from... but i'm the same this time, normally a size 14-16 and already filling all my size 16 maternity clothes at only 8weeks!!

lardybump · 08/09/2008 16:52

You are all so kind thank you...

Diege · 08/09/2008 17:02

Glask, that sounds really similiar to my HG. Food down for 10 mins or so, though really lost appetite so ended up brining up that awful bile stuff (sorry!)As SES says, feel free to talk about it on here - it's part and parcel of pregnancy for a lot of us.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 08/09/2008 17:17

thanks you lot- make me feel less silly about coming and moaning... after all, i am pregnant, i planned it so it's something i knew could happen again!! but i know others on here are suffering and getting no meds for it, so i should be lucky i'm getting something!! Going to try and get an emergency app tomorrow so i can see about getting some stronger stuff, i think being sick all the time is making me even more sorry for myself and the hormones are bad enough on their own!! I'll not moan about the sickness again until i know what they can do about it!!

oooh- the DC's playhouse arrived today for xmas, and i have a playgym coming for them too, and the see-saw arrived a couple of days ago too... and have sorted all DD's xmas clothes, and DS has got lots of jigsaws and toys already for xmas so i'm almost sorted!!! just need a few more little toys for DD and some more clothes for DS...

then i need to make a start on DS's birthday presents for december too... i always sort xmas for them both then decide what to get him for his birthday afterwards... though i think it'll be hot wheels for him this birthday- he's mad on the things... and his train-set, but he has plenty of that!!

GruffaloSoldier · 08/09/2008 18:39

Hello all

Scan tomorrow morning! Eek I dont think Ive ever felt so scared and excited all at the same time!!

Gyo - re friend I have worked in the field of autism/aspergers for 6 years and my nephew also has Aspergers, and it is hard to tell from that one description whether your friend has it or not. If you want a more reliable source look at National Autistic Society website here NAS are great Im currenty applying to do some volunteer work for them. It is thought that many adults are still undiagnosed and just passed off as 'strange' so it is feasible that your friend may not know of her condition.

Glaskham - sorry to hear you are suffering so much - my symptoms sound so insignificant next to yours and I am struggling, so I don't know how I would cope with everything you are going through.

Welcome back LL nice to have you back with us. Glad you are working things out.

I went back to work today which was a big shock to the system. I now have a four day week now I've finished my MSc and I think it will take a bit of getting used to!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 08/09/2008 19:09

Hey gruffalo- hope all goes well with your scan, i cant wait till mine, but haven't even got a date yet, not even seen the midwife either!!

GruffaloSoldier · 08/09/2008 19:17

Thanks Glask! Do you have a midwife apt booked yet? Cant be too far off surely?

I only have an early scan cause have no idea when I am due! I think I am somewhere between 8 and 9 weeks but we shall see. If I get put back I will be gutted!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 08/09/2008 19:27

well you're not too far ahead of me are you?? i'm 8 weeks today, LMP of 15th july.

not heard a thing from the midwife, though she only found out i was pg 2 weeks ago...maybe i'll get something in the next week or so from her.

GruffaloSoldier · 08/09/2008 19:33

Yes quite close indeed. You can hold my hand and show me the way in this pg malarkey, this being my first and all

I dont have an LMP to go by so just going on guess work

Yeah surely you'll hear soon. Not far to the 12 week scan afterall!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 08/09/2008 19:38

nah not really- i can hold out another 4 weeks!!

well i have been there and done it twice over so should know what to expect by now!! haha!! i kinda wish it was my first in a way as it would mean the sickness wouldn't be so bad, i'd not be looking after 2 little ones at the same time!! haha!!

GruffaloSoldier · 08/09/2008 19:51

yeah it cant be easy! I have had a taster as I look after 2 and 5 yr old mon-wed and a 1 and 3 yr old on thurs. its tough! but so much better than an office job or something! (different when its 24/7 though im sure!)

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 08/09/2008 19:55

well my two are being very good considering i'm veging on the sofa most of the day, they have long naps, go to bed on time as normal, almost keep themselves entertained all day... ahve bought them a stack of colouring books, and DS is playing with his train track all the time now too!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 08/09/2008 20:00

and god i couldn't imagine what it must be like to have an office job and suffer from MS!!

GruffaloSoldier · 08/09/2008 20:04

ah that sounds alright then. Im coping ok with work ok so far I just make sure i get plenty of sofa breaks
