CLOMID first time... questions, questions, questions!!!

hello... can anyone shed any light? i have pco and have been ttc for 5 years. i am in my first cycle of clomid (day 14) and had a scan today. They said i have 3 big folicles on one ov and one big one on the other....so triplets would be likely! i dont understand fully tho....i thought i ovulated 2 days ago (day 12)...clear, stretchy stuff in pants and pain in ov but the scan showed the folicles so i couldnt have ovulated yet, which is really disappointing as my hubby is away now so no more getting busy! we got busy from day 11, 12 and 13 but am now thinking i may not ovulate as today is 9 days after taking clomid....oh how confusing...i'm giving myself a head ache....oh no...thats clomid!!! anyone have a suggestions for me?! ps have had an ache on the left ov since day 12.....

Why have you only just started on the clomid if you have been ttc for 5 years? It was prescribed for me as soon as I was diagnosed with pcos and then there were no scans after the initial diagnosis. That was 15 years ago though.

My suggestion is calm down but keep trying at every opportunity - never mind whether you are ovulating or not.

i wasnt really in a rush when i started trying 5 years ago and then it just went on with nothing...at christmas we had tests and they thought it was my thyroid so wasted months looking into that when actually it looks now like my thyroid is fine but i have pco...obviously now i am SO DESPERATE for a baby....it seems so impossible! thanks for replying

Hi babymadness sorry i havent got much info on PCOS but i am on my second month of clomid.

I have heard you should start getting busy 5 days after your last clomid tablet, i.e. if you take clomid on days 2 -6 then you should BD from day 11 , and i would try and do it every other day for 10 days.

I havent had any follicle scanning , i did ring up today and asked for it but the doctors receptionist said its not necessary!!

Also i had quite bad stitch pains last month in my ovaries, and this is a sign of the clomid working. I ovd around day 14 last month ( i used the ov sticks )

hi i have pcos and have been presribed clomid the first month i took 50 mg but never ov this month i took 100mg and ov at 32.5 i found out today i am pregnant and i am also overweight so it does work

Can't think why it took months to sort out your thyroid, OP; should be one blood test.

When I was on Clomid, I was told that 80% of women conceive within 3 months. It took me a lot longer - about 9 months, but dh was away a lot so that didn't help.

ah congratulations laura tht is great news. it must be a weird and wonderful feeling...at last!I have just done the first month of clomid 50mg...folicles were looking good on scan but not sure if i ovulated....i'm on day 16 now so if i was going to it should have been by now....my left ovary had three big folicles on it which probably explains why it is aching SO much everyday! fingers crossed i ovulated around days 11 or 12 as thats when i was busy with dh!!he went away on the day 14 (The day of the scan ) so who knows!!! find out on wed from blood test...x

hiya ive just finished taking my first round of clomid , im in the trying stage now!i have pcos and have been trying for years ,was just wondering if anyone knows how the doc can tell if u produce new follicles as with pcos u have multiple follicles on ovaries anyway???(hmm)

ok....i had my blood taken a day early...on day 20 as couldnt go on 21st....result today....i ovulated at 190!! before i started clomid my number was 16.5....all very exciting!! so nurse says with that and th fact that i had 3 folicles on one ovary and one folicle on the other ...i may be...you know.....but i'm scared to even think it yet...so fingers crossed....

.....forgot...i have a question for you lovely ladies!! sorry for tmi....today i've had quite a bit of white, watery mucus....does this mean anything?...is this to do with progestorone level being high....bad or good? mmmh!

ahhh,good luck babymadness.
i was suppost to have my scan 2day cicle day 14 but the lady who does my scans has gone away so now i cant have a scan this cicle ,ive had faint pains in my ovaries 2day so maybe im ovulating???i hope so because it will mean the clomid has done something so i will just have to wait and see but really frustrating i couldnt have my scan,my doc says just wait and see if u come on or not and if i do go straight onto second round of clomid,if i dont then test ,how early should i test?

ahhh....thats a pain cjll...try not to let it affect you tho...if you can just do it as often as poss i guess!!i'm going to try to hold out on the testing until around my due date. (28/29)...which is tue or wed....if i can at all manage it ....if af doesnt show by tue morn (ooooo fingers crossed) i'll probably test...its so difficult not to run to the loo right now and test but the odds are low that it would show and i've seen SO many BFN that i'm nervous! good luck

ill keep my fingers crossed for u babymadness let me know how things go!ive got another couple of weeks till i can test untill then im gonna keep on trying!just wondering is your pcos quite bad ?mine is an its making me think will the clomid work at all?i know i need to be positve but wen u have been trying for so long you start thiking that nothing will work!!!

Baby that sounds great!! i am keeping everything corssed for you!!
I am on my second month of clomid and am on day 11 so will be getting very busy over the next week or so!!

I am a little worried though on my blood test results. Last month my level on day 20 was 34. Before clomid i was on about level 20. What progesterone levels does everyone else have?? Cos i am worrying incase it is still too low??

Cjill have you used ovulation sticks??

Unfortunately it is no point at all in using OPK's if PCOS is an issue.

vix 67...my blood test showed my number was 190...which is very hig and almost hyperstimulation think but before clomid it was 16.5 one month. Nurse seemed suprised to say the least as i am only on 50mg at the mo! i wish this meant i was defo pregnant!! Fertility nurse said aything above 30 is good..so you are ok i think..youmust be ovulating.... maybe they will up the dose if you dont have a higher number this month.

Its such a waiting game. its horrid ey?

I'm really worried at the mo as last night i was inspecting my breasts and found a lump in the right side of on, not sure if this is to do with it all or something else...going to see if i come on i guess and then go see about that too!

hi vix67 i havent tryed ovulation sticks as i dont live in uk i live in spain and as far as im aware u cant get them here,might get someone to pick me some up when we have visiters!!
babymadness god as if u need another stress like a lump in yr breast try not to worry,it might just be all the homones they play havoc with your body ,as we all know!!!i think i need to ask my doctor about progesterone levels and whats a good number to have because i think they must record the level differently here in spain because compared to everyone elses level my number seems very strange.
im on day 17 of my cicle now still gonna carry on trying just in case i have been getting lower back pains could mean anything i suppose xxx

Do not use OPK's if you have PCOS: they are worse than useless if you have this condition!.

These measure LH; many PCOSers have an excess of LH to start with and thus the kit will read the excess.

Do not waste your cash on such things!!.

thanks cjll...i know its all very confusing...i have decided i'm going to test tomorrow morning as that is 14 days after the day i think i ovulated.....i'm still not sure i even got that right...but we'll see i guess....so testing tomorrow and a glass of wine tomorrow nit if negative. good luck to all xx

hi everyone, i'm on month 2 of clomid, i had my folicle tracking scana which showed that i released 2 eggs this month, had blood test on day 20 (monday) havent got results yet as have been busy at work and haven't had the chance to ring and find out yet! the scan also showed that my lining of the womb was a bit thin which may be a result of the clomid, so very unlikley to be succesfull this month!! i ovulated 2 weeks ago, my af was 3 days late last month so i don't know if i'm due tommorow or wednesday?! got lots of cramps and backache and very tender boobs so it doesn't look good that i will be pg. not sure whether to test or not??!!!

ahh sorry babymadness,just keep positive and look forward to trying the next round.....i know thats hard i should take my own advise really ,ive still got over a week till i can test and its driving me mad!!!all i can think is baby baby baby!!!
