Morning ladies!!
Hope everyone ok today? Linwin welcome back - I hope you are feeling better about things. It is so hard not to become obsessed with TTC, isn't it? I find myself acutely aware of every tiny sensation in my whole body (toes, ears - you name it - I'm like 'is it a symptom??'!) but I hope you're feeling a bit calmer?

Hever and Flirty please don't leave!! How are you feeling?

I went to the GP yesterday about something else (weird ligament strain - not a symptom!) and my GP was so excited about us TTC! I hadn't really mentioned it before and she was nearly dancing on her chair!! I've only ever seen her once before!!

Well, I have got really really sore boobs and a horrid spot on my chin (just so you know!). This is the second month I've had such sore boobs (can't lie on side) and as last month I had decided it was a symptom, this month I know it is impending AF. Thing is, if I were pg this month, it would only be implanting yesterday or today (ish) so when do pre-AF sore boobs become pg sore boobs?! IYSWIM?

eth i am in the same boat trying to work out what symptoms are pre AF and what are potential PG. I still have the spotty face(!) and felt a mini AF cramp this morning which has now gone.

Well today is 14DPO but only CD26 so it could be any day.

eth my GP too was hyper excited when i told her we were TTC

big hello to everyone else! sorry gotta dash as need to do some work now!!

saz007 · 28/08/2008 09:42

xx

summerbird · 28/08/2008 11:28

check this out girls - what do you reckon? should i test tonight?? (extract from a website)

'When can I test to see if I am positive on an home pregnancy test?'

In order to test positive on a home pregnancy test, there must be hCG present in your blood stream. hCG production starts at an early stage of development, just a few days after conception, before implantation in the uterus, but you will not be able to read until after implantation. hCG enters the circulation almost immediately after implantation of the embryo (blastocyst) on about 7 days past ovulation, producing 5mIU-50mIU of hCG and doubles every two days. Many women are able to get a positive reading at 10 days past ovulation. I recommend waiting until 12 days past ovulation to test. Here are averages:

DPO Amount of hCG in mIU/ml
7DPO 5 - 50
14DPO 4 - 426
21DPO 19 - 7,340
28DPO 1,080 - 56,500

Just because there may be 5-50 mIU in your bloodstream doesn't mean that your body has processed it in that strength in your urine. Every woman is different and even cycles can be different.

summerbird · 28/08/2008 11:30

it was from this website go here

Linwin · 28/08/2008 11:46

Seriously Summerbird I would hold on another day or two. I know its hard but if you wait then you will really be able to believe the results, whereas if you test now you could get a false negative.

I made myself wait until CD37 (my cycles are 35 days) and at least when it came back as BFN I knew it was true and hey presto the next day my old friend AF turns up.

Sorry, probs not the advice you wanted to hear!

summerbird · 28/08/2008 12:34

not what i wanted linwin but you are absolutely spot on with your advice! i am at the point now where i am thinking about it day and night, and you are righ too that it could be a false BFN, i will try to resist until Sunday!! (welcome back by the way!)

come on everyone else - give me the same advice as linwin!!!!!

makingafamily · 28/08/2008 14:05

Meant to post this here and ended up posting it on another thread so cuts and pastes !!

Hey Ladies

Been a bit quiet as had some rather crap news on Tuesday evening, which i have now processed and put into prospective and am feeling much more positive about. As i think i've mentioned before my lovely GP has referred me for all tests so that she can refer me to my local fertility clinic so should it take us a while and we need some medical interventions it would already be up and running. Had all blood tests back a month ago and and STI and Hormone Fertility, Liver Function tests etc all ok. The last thing was an pelvic ultrasound which to my understanding was to check there were no blockages. so along i went on Tuesday, laying there, trying not to pee, with cold stuff on my belly being poked when the sonographer says "have you heard the term polycystic?" my shocked response "yes, but i'm not quite sure what its got to do with this!". Sonographer then kindly showed me on the big screen my polycystic ovaries and advised me he would contact my GP and i would be sent for bloods for further info. Went home cried, had a large Pimms, cried some more, spoke to the boys who were unconditionally supportive, cried more, got on google and then cried a bit less. Spoke to my GP yesterday who confirmed my hormone levels do NOT indicate PCOS and that approx 1 in 5 women have polycystic ovaries and to try not to worry. My FSH is 3 and my LH is 3.4 which i am lead to believe are ok. So essay over and back to feeling on track although am now CD 16, No CM, No +OPK's and No Peak reading on the CB Fertility monitor so sod knows whats going on. So looks like another few days of raised ass yoghurt potting for us

Once again ladies thanks for listening, well reading!!!

Hope your all well and looking forward to fabulous weekends

and Summer STEP AWAY FROM THE PEE STICKS - DO NOT TEST

x.x.x

summerbird · 28/08/2008 14:36

hey MAF hunny please dont worry, i wondered why you had been quiet. i too have a 'mild' polycystic ovary but my GP and Gynae said it is fine and it is true that so many women have it and successfully conceive.

forget about it now and get back to those yoghurt pots! and your boys sound just fabulous!

group hugs

makingafamily · 28/08/2008 14:40

Awe thanks Summer. I'm back to feeling much more positive again now and we're back to insems at every given chance

summerbird · 28/08/2008 17:44

just got home and think AF is on her way, i knew i was getting way too excited !! got home to a bit of browm CM which is prob spotting in time for TEW to arrive tomos

ah well - DH is on his way home with some redvino, i am off tomorrow (going to see my BIL play at the Moseley Folk Festival - how cool!) so am gonna get trashed tonight in time for the big detox which starts - ooo - maybe next week!

eth37 · 28/08/2008 18:06

Afternoon everyone!

Nice to hear from you MAF and I agree with summer - your boys sound amazing. And you're right - so many people have PCOS and manage to conceive naturally. Your GP sounds v good as well. And glad to see the yoghurt pot is still in use!!

summer could it be implantation spotting or are you sure it is AF? It is so cruel, isn't it. I have had awful menstrual-like cramps today, but worse and AF not due 'til Tues. I had this at the same time last month (literally same CD) and got all excited that it was implantation, but tbh I am almost 100% it is IBS. I have somehow got into a tizz lately and it seems to bring it on. Does anyone else get low-down IBS by the way? It feels like bad period pain but with gurgles? IF that makes sense>?!

crunchy are you back at school yet? I went in today... Bombarded with stuff I had chosen to forget about for the last month. Eeeeew.

Hope everyone else had a good day. DH out all evening at gig so just invested in a yummy M+S curry ready meal - I am so lazy! xxx

Linwin · 28/08/2008 18:18

Evening girls,

So jealous of you eth - I am still stuck at work and will be here a while yet. Zzzzzz. DH picking me up an M&S ready meal curry for when I get home though!

Sorry to hear summerbird that you think AF is on the way...its crap isn't it

MAF I'm sure you'll be fine. My sister has that and also was anorexic for years and never had AF and she got PG within a few months of trying.

I have the worst AF I think I've ever had, she is getting worse and worse these days and is really starting to p*ss me off. Stomach ache, back ache, stomach twice size of usual. Even a whole bar of Green and Blacks hasn't helped today Ahh - maybe thats why stomach twice the size of usual

summerbird · 28/08/2008 18:32

linwin i get bad AFs too, since my laporoscopy they havent been too bad but i have been writhing on the floor in pain so i do understand, we just need extra strong ibruprofen and a cuddle i find!

i just read back on this thread a bit and it is a good job that i didnt test tonight, BSL gave me a stern telling before she went on hols so if i had tested early she would have bol*ked me!!!

eth i cant believe you guys are back at work already, my sis is a teacher too and i get so at her holidays - but she does work hard bless her.

eth37 · 28/08/2008 20:33

summerbird i can't believe we're back in work either!! The chaos begins... No children 'til Tues though, just mad planning and organising. We've got 3 new teachers starting (out of 10 teachers) so is even worse than usual...

Enjoy your red wine - make sure you take advantage of the compulsory AF-excess-alcohol-consumption!

eth37 · 28/08/2008 21:08

Right - need your help ladies! Have decided to start temping from next cycle (AF due Tues). Basically I have a v v v v v regular 27 day cycle, but get EWCM from CD13 - CD17 and so if I am OVing on CD17, I would only have a 10 day luteal phase. HENCE I want to start temping to work out the exact day I am OVing. Have tried OPK sticks and a) they are expensive b) I haven't got a + which freaks me out!
Can you tell me what type of thermometer I need to get?! I have looked in Boots and I can't find them. Did you get a celsius or fahrenheit one? Any tips welcome!
Thanks girls x

wildfig · 28/08/2008 21:22

Boots do a fertility temping kit in the pregancy/family planning area - it's got a celcius thermometer that you're meant to leave within arm's reach for first-thing-temperature taking, and a pretty useless chart book in a leatherette binder. I ditched that and use the Fertility Friend chart in line. I've been doing that and ov kits and it seems to work (well, I know when I ov and I finally understand what a luteal phase is, anyway!)

x

wildfig · 28/08/2008 21:23

online... celsius...pregnancy... worst editor of the week award... thangyouverymuch

Linwin · 28/08/2008 21:24

Hmm, eth I did ask this very same question a while ago on the other thread. The advice I was given was to get a basal digital thermometer - I remember seeing them on Boots online if that helps.

crunchynutter · 28/08/2008 21:38

hi all! I have to leave our lovely log cabin in the morning but I suppose that means I can come back on here a little more! eth I feel for you. Were not back tip Tuesday and I am dreading it! I have Also lost my calendar thingy so don't even know when the kids are back! I got dragged into doing a 'super learning day' on the 4th too so basically teaching 5 identical lessons to different groups of yr 10s all day-should be fun!

Well to update you ladies, still no AF, have lovely clear skin agAin (lovely welsh air maybe?) and my (.)(.) are not hurting too much (although can be a little sensitive if I sleep on my side!) so I feel More like myself but don't know if that is good or bad! Still taking the pregnacare but also tea coffee and wine (or champagne this week hehe I really don't think our little ones are In a rush to implant but I am feeling strangely calm Bout it at the moment- holiday must have done me good!

(I am still bugging DH to agree on names though just in case! LOL and suggested today that when we do have our babies we should get a puppy so my Alfie won't get jealous or ignored cos he'll have a friend to play with!)

Hope you are all well anyway. Crunchy xx

eth37 · 28/08/2008 21:42

Thanks Linwin and wildfig - will see if there is a bigger Boots I can find. (Scared Q - you take the temp in your mouth, don't you? And not anywhere scarier?)

crunchy it sounds like your hol did you lots of good!! Glad you are feeling chipper xx

summerbird · 28/08/2008 21:54

hey crunchy seems i need to go back to wales to get my clear skin back, it has taken me back to being 15 and getting told off for picking spots!!!

er right, so i had some brown CM after work tonight and nothing since, i need to stop obsessing and accepting that it is probably AF but in the back of my mind i am wondering if it is implantation bleed....

eth i havent done any temping as i get a little twinge as i OV, so good luck with that.

on another matter, i am sooo proud! my BIL is an aspiring folk/americana singer and is being interviewd on BBC Radio West Midlands right now as we speak, as i said earlier we are off to see him at the Moseley Folk Fest tomorrow, sorry i just had to do the proud big sister moment!!
