flower, welcome to the non-testers. the only advice i can really give you is to avoid testing for as long as possible. a lot of the brands that claim to be accurate early are only based on a tiny amount of women and the longer you leave it the more likely you are to get a bfp. besides, its so much nicer to see a big fat line rather than one you have to wave outside on a full moon under a yew tree aged 35y to see

I did loads of reading recently on account of the fact I was certain I was preg but the test where coming back saying no and here are the stats that should convince you to NOT test!!

The "6 days before AF" is actually taken back from AF due date +1 so it is really only 4 days before your period (AF DD counts a a day too) and then if you test on your early morning wee, only 51% of woman managed a positive test result. Where as if you test on the day or AF+1, there is a 99.9% accuracy.

PLUS...the cheaper tests (including Tesco homebrand I used) actually needs to detect 150% more HCG than the likes of Clearblue. Therefore you will truely struggle to get a BFP anything shorter than you AF due date.

Also HCG levels double every 2 to 3 days so the longer you leave it, the more liekly you will have detectable levels of hormone.

And finally.....at an average of £5.00 per test, think of all those booties you can buy with what you have saved if you resist the early test!

Hi, can I join?

On cycle 1 of TTC DC2, CD24. Cycle has been a bit variable since having DS but generally around 26-28 days. I have no idea when I ovulate, though -- I tried looking at CM but it seemed the same all month! So it's a bit pot luck as to whether we have sex at the right time...

MegBusset · 06/08/2008 13:48

I'm definitely feeling a bit mopey today but hoping that's not down to AF coming... haven't had any period pains or anything.

Heebychick · 06/08/2008 16:01

Thank you tictac great research! i wish i could cling to the 'it's too early' hope still, but sadly not for me.

I will do the CB Digi tomorrow but am 99.9% sure it will be -ve.

meg welcome and sorry you are feeling down, it's a long wait isn't it, how long have you been trying? do you have any symptoms? good news that you dont think Af is on her way!

petal68 · 06/08/2008 16:47

Hi all,

Can I join as well please - only on my first month of trying DC3 but DD1 was born 9 years ago so I'm not sure if I can still do it!

I've posted on another thread but thought I might get more answers from here! I'm CD 31 at the moment and tested this morning with FR test but BFN. My periods have been getting further and further apart for the last 3 months - last month was CD38 so I may be too early but I definitely feel pregnant.

Will have to try and resist testing again until next week - long time to wait tho! What does everyone think? Too early to test again on Friday this week or not?

OracleInaCoracle · 06/08/2008 18:26

i would avoid testing for another week petal. if you dont mind me asking how old are you?

OP posts:
TicTac · 06/08/2008 19:13

Hi Petal, do you know when you ovulated? Thats the key time really. You would be due your AF 14 days AFTER your ovulation date. I have a pretty random cycle too!

ebeson · 07/08/2008 08:50

Hi everyone, well cd 36 and i think af is finally here, so im out for this month. Heeby........any news?

RipMacWinkle · 07/08/2008 08:51

Hi lissie and everyone

Well af due tomorrow and she's definitely on her way. I have all the usual cramps and signs. Also........... (and you can slap my hand now) I did a test this morning, it was a definite BFN. Don't know why I did as I knew af was coming. Have been moping about ever since. A bit teary. Words can't describe my disappointment.

For next month, I think I@ll join the "May is a good month to have a baby" thread

Happy Thursday everyone - hope some of you do better than me

Heebychick · 07/08/2008 09:03

Hi guys, ebe really sorry about AF, maybe we can hand hold for next month?

I got a BFN again today, have a Dr appt later today so will get some answers, i still feel really yuk but to be honest i'm fine about not being pg but worried about what it all might be, and in fact i could of sworn i felt i'd OV last nite! It's all a bit weird.

rip i'm really sorry about AF, yes lets all join the 'may is a good month' thread, at least when AF is here properly you can focus on the next month and enjoy the BDing!

xx

RipMacWinkle · 07/08/2008 09:09

Good luck at your appt heeby - hope you get some answers. It's v crap not being pg but waiting to find out where you are is the pits.

Now just want full af to crack on so that I can move onto next month.

Fingers crossed for you

petal68 · 07/08/2008 09:11

Hi Lissie and Tictac,

I'm 39 nearly 40 so I dont think things will be so easy this time round. With my daughter I missed a couple of pills mid cycle and got pregnant.

Stupidly this month I didnt keep track of when I ovulated - I've been off the pill for 2 years and this is the first month my dh has agreed to actually ttc! And the first month I havent been obsessively checking my CM to see whether I have ovulated - dont know why but now it means I'm completely in the dark as to when to test.

Think I will have to hold off til next week if I can - fingers crossed!

scully · 07/08/2008 09:17

Hi ladies can I join you? Today is cd30 for me, the last two cycles have been 28days and this was the first time we have been allowed to ttc since my 2nd m/c in April. Not sure when I ovulated but trying to hold out testing until Saturday
I've been reading about your saga Heeby, sounds very frustating, hope you get some answers soon.
Hi to everyone else

Heebychick · 07/08/2008 10:22

Hi scully thank you for your message, it's like an ongoing journey hey ... especially when i read about others having periods and still pg, hmm. I'll be glad to see the Dr later!

Good luck to you, sounds quite positive for you tho! Sorry about your M/C however, good luck for Sat, please let us know.

xx

OracleInaCoracle · 07/08/2008 17:27

any news heeby?

OP posts:
MegBusset · 07/08/2008 20:06

Hi all

Heeby hope your docs appt went OK.

I have been having cramps all day so pretty sure my period is on its way. Only the first month for us so would have been very lucky to get pg straight away!

OracleInaCoracle · 08/08/2008 13:05

hows everyone doing today? period has stopped (i think) and am off out tonight for friends 30th birthday drinks. the only prob is that bf's dw is heavily pg (due this month) and i have mixed feelings about seeing them.

OP posts:
Jael · 08/08/2008 13:55

Can I join too, I'm only CD14, so got AGES till i can test! I'm ttc DC#2, have dd aged 2 1/2. Can I ask a question as I'm abit naive and new to all this ttc as dd was conceived in first month of trying, what's an implantation bleed? Jael x

OracleInaCoracle · 08/08/2008 14:02

i9mplantation bleed is when, as the embryo imlants it causes a little bit of the uterine lining to come away. this results in a small amount of blood usually around the time your period is de. hth. and welcome to the thread. good luck

OP posts:
Heebychick · 08/08/2008 23:00

Hi, how is everyone? hope you are having a wonderful night lissie* hopefully you'll not have too much of a hangover!

I had my blood test this morning and will get the results on Tuesday, she is testing for lots of things as well as hcg so hopefully will find out what is going on once and for all.

i keep thinking how awful it will be if all the bloods come back as normal!! then i wil be a certified crack pot!
xx

MegBusset · 09/08/2008 08:37

Hope you get some answers, Heeby.

I'm still feeling somewhat pre-menstrual but no AF yet (am on CD27) so there's still some hope for this month.

Lissie, hope your night went well

OracleInaCoracle · 09/08/2008 08:44

ouch my head.

OP posts:
Heebychick · 09/08/2008 09:24

Hurrah to lissie for a bad head .... hope you had a great nite!
