zsos, hpts are really not that accurate before your period is due, and for every woman who gets an early bfp there are 10 who get late ones. HCG varies so much from pg to pg, let alone from woman to woman, thats why its sensible to wait or as long as possible. there was a woman on one of the step away threads a while ago who didnt get her bfp until she was about 6w, and she is currently about 16 (iirc)

there is a fab chart knocking around, i shall try to find it tomorrow, it tells you what the %'s are of getting an early bfp.

Just a note to say how right you are to stay away from the tests!

I posted yesterday confessing to two early tests (which I kept - they were BFN's but very faint lines came up within a few hours). Today had to use so much will power to stay away from the pharmacy. And glad I did. Went to the loo this afternoon and there was a brown stain in my knickers and when I wiped reddy brown blood (tmi?). Tried to convince myself if was implantation bleeding (as I think I'm only 8-10 dpo and AF due Monday) but it seems too heavy, so have resigned myself and shoved up a tampon.

Reason for posting though is to say that while p*ssed off with myself for getting carried away and allowing myself to believe I was, the early testing made this worse (as the faint line gave me hope) and meant I basically threw away £15. Me and DH are really skint at the moment and we could have bought a really good bottle or wine or something, but no. What have I got to show for it? Disappointment and an empty purse. I HATE TTC.

littlemissmischief · 15/08/2008 16:45

Oh no Summerwhatsummer how annoying for you. I know what you mean about the money situation but if it helps I always buy the Asda 2 pack ones for under £4 and when i was pg with my DS this one showed i was so they are obviously just as good. Dont give up hope, next month could be the one. Just try to think of this as day one..Good luck!

summerwhatsummer · 15/08/2008 16:50

And one more thing while I'm on a rant. Yesterday while in the height of madness, waiting for my BFN to turn slowly and miraculously into a faint blue line, I ripped open my PG test so as to hold the strip more closely to the light. I was shocked to see that all it is is a flimsy strip. How they can get away with charging £10 for it is beyond me. I have blown a fortune on them. From now on I refuse to test before CD29.

OracleInaCoracle · 15/08/2008 17:13

summer, totally agree that they are ridiculous. what you have described sounds like an evap line, but it doesnt stop giving you hope does it? agree with littlemiss though, think of this as cd1, fresh cycle and this one will be yours. it is crap though

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 16/08/2008 13:29

hows everyone doing?

OP posts:
littlemissmischief · 16/08/2008 20:21

Still nothing for me Lissielou, have been good and still not tested but think 14 days should be wed so hope I can last that long although have had no symptoms today and dont 'feel' very pg so bit

OracleInaCoracle · 16/08/2008 21:31

littlemiss, try to hold out, i know how tough it is, but the odds of getting an accurate result rise every day x

OP posts:
littlemissmischief · 16/08/2008 22:44

Thanks Lisselou, im trying plus if DS1 was anything to go by if my concieved date was right it took 29 days after conception to get a positive (and he was born on his due date so must have been pretty acurate) Apparently my mum was the same and took ages to get BFP too, so even if I do get BFN's I will hold onto hope until AF arrives (fingers crossed she doesnt) x

nappyaddict · 16/08/2008 22:48

asda's and sainsbo's own brand preg tests are the most senstive you can get and i think you can get a postive 6 dpo.

nappyaddict · 16/08/2008 22:55

or if you email [email protected] you can ask where your nearest stockist is for suresign pregnancy tests and they are the exact same as the asda/sainsbo's ones (they told me this when my nearest stockist was too far away) but much cheaper.

littlemissmischief · 17/08/2008 08:51

Thanks nappyaddict, i did use an Asda one with my DS but still took 29 days but maybe i'm just odd Alot have people have told me tho that your paying for the name when buying Clearblue etc. cos they are all made the same, not sure if that is true tho?

Well have woke up this morning feeling awful. My belly hurst and my boobs are quite tender I feel a bit like I have the flu or something as I feel all bruised, so maybe I do just have a bug im not sure.

Hows everyone else? x

OracleInaCoracle · 17/08/2008 12:00

i always use CB now because it picked up my ep before any of the others, i am due to ov today, but the last 2m my cycle has been 30d so i may ov on tuesday. all the signs are there that im fertile atm, just have to hope that it comeout of the tubed side!

OP posts:
ClairePO · 17/08/2008 22:08

Good luck lissie

I've been away for the weekend so despite my freebie new CB arriving on Friday I haven't been tempted to test. I think period is due Fri/Sat/Sun. I don't chart anymore and my cycles vary 27-29 days. I will test Thursday morning because of the going on holiday thing.

TBH I don't really want to be pregnant this month as this time last year I was pregnant and about to embark on a road trip to Europe where I miscarried midway through our holiday so I think finding out I was would worry me with the deja vu thing. But then also I really do as we both really want our first little one so much.

littlemissmischief · 17/08/2008 22:35

Hi Ladies, firstly good luck Lissielou and Clairepo, make sure you keep us updated.

Ive been out most of the day but been feeling terrible today, really thought i was getting flu or something but my boobs are really sore (more than when AF is due) so taking that as a good sign plus ive had some more cramping so keeping everything crossed.

Still not sure when to test but brought two tests today, was thinking of doing one in the week and then if I get BFN i will keep the other one till beginning of Sept and test again (obviously if no AF) who thinks that is likely to happen with my willpower!

nappyaddict · 17/08/2008 22:55

the suresign ones (who are the people that make them for asda and sainsbos) detect 10 10mlU/ml which is the most sensitive you can get yet i think clear blue is 25 or 50.

TicTac · 18/08/2008 08:42

Hi ladies, can I come back and join you? I left you a week or so ago as I had a BFP however I am miscarrying now so will be TTC after my next period.

I too hate TTC and the early pregnancy tests but I am an adict so will need you all to kep me on the straight and narrow !

OracleInaCoracle · 18/08/2008 09:01

littlemiss, DO NOT TEST! leave it as long as possible.

Claire, has it really been so long? where are you going?

tictac, my sweet, I am so very, very sorry x

OP posts:
TicTac · 18/08/2008 09:30

Thanks lissielou. I am fine though.

Littlemiss....don't test!

littlemissmischief · 18/08/2008 12:25

Oh dear ive been told! sorry Lissielou and TicTac I will be good from now on (goes and stands in the corner!)

Tic Tac so sorry to hear your news x

So seeing as im going to be good and not test can I ask you when you think I should?

OracleInaCoracle · 18/08/2008 12:34

when is your period due?

OP posts:
littlemissmischief · 18/08/2008 12:44

That is the million dollar question Lissielou, could be tommorow could be next month or even next year - really have no clue, this is why im not sure what to do?

OracleInaCoracle · 18/08/2008 13:39

right, give it another week and test. and if you get a bfn go to gps
