cricri thanks for info about NCT classes - am quite looking forward to them now

Sparkly I can't see your profile page - have you uploaded pics ? Hope the Christening went well and glad you didn't all float away

Fruity 12 weeks hurray, what a great milestone

scully any symtpoms...? I have everything crossed for you xx

Yarnie I know the feeling about scan - I was a nervous wreck beforehand. Remember once you are there to enjoy it and take it all in as it is over so quickly. I am going to a NCT sale on Sat, can't wait ! I think they let you in 15 mins later if you are a non-member.

FruitynNutty · 08/09/2008 13:47

Afternoon
DP forgot to take the laptop to work with him hahaha

Yarnie how exciting! You must get a DVD with your pictures. Let us know how it all goes

Well I've just come back from collecting "diaries" from the Merton CIS for this sodding EYFS malarky. Diaries? They're bloody great big ring binders! Each child has to have their own one. So I've got 6 of these things plus an extra ringbinder with all the legal crap in. You would not believe the amount of written bits of paper we need
To name but as few:

  • Written information detailing activities for children (inc daily routines, staffing provision, food and drinks provided)
  • Written formal risk assessment of indoors and outdoors (This includes everytime we leave the house, so just going to the corner shop to get some milk needs a formal written risk assessment )
  • Written security plan (fair enough)
  • Written details/posters about the need for security displayed for parents and visitors
  • Written procedure for nappy changing, baby feed preparations etc
  • Written procedure for supervision of children on outings
  • Written equal opportunities policy
  • Written permission from parents prior to medication being given (if a parnet gives me antibiotics or even Calpol I can't give it unless written permission)
  • Written no smoking policy (also to be displayed on door to premises - sorry kids, you're not allowed to smoke) So a sign on MY FRONT DOOR!

Oh it goes on and on! There are SEVENTY ONE written pieces of literature which I have to write and comply with.
On top of that we have to follow the EYFS foundation stage for under 5's by doing constant written observations and planning.
I'm soooo pissed off. If I could afford to send DS to a childminder/nursery so I can go out to work I would. If I was working in a nursery I wouldn't have to do half of this. This is the job of a manager of a nursery which I'm not qualified to do

Why did I become a Childminder? I need a PA!!!!!!

Yarnie · 08/09/2008 14:38

Jeesus, Fruity! That's a ton of paperwork. It does sound a bit mad - I mean, kids are important, obv but it sounds like you'll spend more time form filling than actually looking after them, which is nonsense.

I don't think we're offered DVDs, although we can certainly get pictures. DF would get about 50 if it was down to him

Let us know what the sale is like Mibbes. If it's any good, I'll sign on the dotted line for NCT membership.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 08/09/2008 16:50

Hello. Well, Mollie been back at school for 3 whole days and I've got a sodding cold already. Feel horrible. Sick, snotty, lost my appetite, headache and soooo tired. These kids are just hothouses for germs!

Had a brilliant time with DH on Friday. Swnaked about in The Berkley Hotel in Knightsbridge. Had cocktails in The Blue Bar (Maddonna loves it don't ya know!) and then off for supper to Hibiscus. Massage on Sat morning then trip round Harvey Nics where I almost wet myself actually touching real couture clothing and Jimmy Choos. Was in heaven!!! Back to Wimbledon to watch Rock N Rolla. My god, Gerard Butler ROCKS. Woof woof! Then back down to earth with a bump when got home to 2 slightly mad children whost grand parents had fed them too many sweeties!!!

Fruity Ah, there's nothing like a bit of red tape to make you really appreciate what a bunch of muppets there are working at Merton Council. Bloody nanny state. Grrrrr. God forbid you actually look after the childrena dn they have some fun. Gasp!

Yarnie Good luck for tomorrow chick.

Scully Hope TEW doesn't find you. Hide under the duvet with a bottle of wine and tell her to naff off!

Kate You still alive? How did the wedding go? Did you get rip roaring drunk and throw some funky shapes on the dance floor?!

Sparkly How was DD's christening?

Hmmmm. Think the cold medication is making me go more do-lally than normal. .

Hello to everyone else.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 08/09/2008 16:52

Piper Sorry TEW got you. But on the bright side, means you can enjoy a glass or two of the good stuff at your wedding. I was 5 months pg when I got married to DH and it was murder having to watch everyone else getting lashed whilst I eeked out my half glass of champagne.

MollieMooma · 08/09/2008 17:51

Right this is my 5th attempt at posting the computer at work was playing up, would let me read but not post
Piper So sorry she got you, but hope you took up Mibbes's suggestion of wine and chocolate
Scully Let's hope that this cycle for you is a 28 day one, less time to wait til testing!!
EI Sorry to hear that you're having a wierd cycle this month, you sound rather frazzled and frustrated with all the BDing you've been doing, let's hope it is successful, sending you a hug
Emmsy Hope your taking it easy missus x
CriCri Glad to hear your ante-natal weekend went well, you're going to be the most informed new Mum on the block
Sparkly So pleased you haven't floated off this weekend, can't wait for a christening update
Yarnie Good luck for tomorrow
Fruity I'll come and be your PA if you like! What a bureacratic (sp) red tape nightmare for you
Georgie What an ab fab weekend you've had, sounds like you had a wonderful time, very
Kate How was the wedding weekend?

Well my first day back was Friday, opened my drawers to be faced with all my MS cures, biscuits, breadsticks etc which set me off so I fled to the loo. Then I had about 10 people who all felt the need to come and hug or stroke me and ask me how I was, which is lovely don't get me wrong but just set me off again, so spent the first half hr of the day sobbing in the toilet . Just got on with it after that.
Had my blood test results today, doctor decided to pre-empt consultant so did tests for ALP (I think that's what it's called anti ph? something) and SLE (which I think is Lupus) and blood glucose. All came back clear and normal. Part of me is relieved, but another part is a bit disappointed that they couldn't say "oh you have such and such so we'll give you so and so and then everything will be alright next time" and life will be all smiley again! Will see what my consultant says in 2 week

teeheelaydee · 08/09/2008 18:07

HTGG Your weekend sounds fantastic, worth the sweeted up kids for I'll bet.I hope you put on that "bored, I do this all the time" look on in the hotel that I try to perfect when I'm somewhere swanky and usually fail dreadfully.

Mollie You beat me to it - I want to be Fruity's PA - I'll do you a good deal Fruity. I know exactly how you feel about the tests, I remember almost feeling weird that I almost wished there was something wrong with me when I got to that stage. If it's any consulation the fact that they've found nothing wrong with me has given me comfort this time around. I also remember going back to work and thinking "last time I was here I was pregnant" Can't tell you how many times I had to rush to the loo in those weeks! Hang in there honey.

Sparkly Looking forward to seeing your photos - did you spill the beans that you were expecting again.

Yarnie Lots of luck for tomorrow. It's a strange old mix of excitement and worry isn't it but I'm sure it will be fine. Let us know how it goes won't you.

Cricri & Mibbes Now I have worked out what NCT stands for I will check it out. Although not yet of course as far too early - not that I've been checking out nursery decor and prams on the internet when DP not looking.

Sorry to those who have been got by th EW- wallow in it with wine!

Kate Update re wedding please. Hope it was OK.

Ei How is the job going?

MollieMooma · 08/09/2008 18:34

TeeHee I can offer a better deal to Fruity as I won't need maternity leave in a few months time See I knew there would be some advantages to being not pg Well that and the wine, chocolate, prawns and brie
Oh and DH told me off for not telling you how horrible I was him to him yesterday, I think he feels I should confess my sins at the MN confessional! I seem to have horrible mood swings yesterday, went from happy to crying to happy to moanie to happy to whinging to happy to nagging, after about 3/4 hrs of me being vile to him he finally snapped and we had a huge argument and I cried for an hour, felt much better after though I think he should just have force fed me chocolate and I would have been fine!

FruitynNutty · 08/09/2008 18:39

Whoever can do it for free! hahaha

teeheelaydee · 08/09/2008 18:42

Mollie lol - v/funny- anyway who's to say you won't need maternity.
You also need to explain to your DH as I have to my DP you only have to tell us when he has been vile to you - as we can all pretend to be lovely angels - that's MN!

EisAHandbagaHolic · 08/09/2008 23:26

hi ladies
yarnie good luck with your scan tomorrow
mollie what date is your consultants appointment??? i have had my appointment through for 22nd sept to see the top man and i have heard alot of good things about him so i am happy about it hopefully we will both get some answers soon
sparkly i hope you and DH and DD had a great time on sunday did DD enjoy being the centre of attention??
i hope everyone else is doing well
i had a nice temp rise this morning so i might have Oved but well see what tomorrow brings good thing is is we have timed it perfectly if i have oved but i shouldnt get my hopes up as it never works out that way for me
anywho enough of mememe
xx ei xx

scully · 09/09/2008 04:02

Hope the scan goes well today Yarnie What a lot of palava Fruity, you want caring people to take care of your children, but I don't think it requires a million bits of paper
dd2's christening is on 21/9, how did your dd cope with it all Sparkly? Only thing I have left to organise for it now is the food/drink. Have ordered the cake, candles and dd1's dress and shoes fit dd2 so didn't need to buy a new outfit, yay Am thinking of ordering a sushi platter, doing some fruit kebabs, mini quiches, garlic and herb breads, chips and dips, not sure what else yet.
Well done for getting through your first day back at work Mollie, I had the same drawer moment when I went back to work and found the ginger biscuits there waiting for me Tell you dh he is getting off lightly if you were only like that for one day, I was like it for weeks after both m/c
I didn't do ante natal classes with NCT but I was a member and loved their Nearly New sales and the other meet ups as well. Found it a great way to meet people, especially if you don't bond with anyone on your antenatal classes through the hospital, where lets face it, there is a wide section of the community attending
Hi to everyone else

FruitynNutty · 09/09/2008 06:50

Morning
Ei I hope everything goes really well for you this cycle, Not long till the 22nd if it doesn't.

I posted this on the anti-natal but I need all your help as I'm really really nervous now about handing in my notice:

Another parent told about the pregnancy [grin ] Went very well Only two more to go! I can't wait to tell my Thursday mindee's mum, she's so lovely.
I'm starting to get very nervous now about telling the mean ones.
I have this mindee today and Weds. Then I won't see him again until next Tues again - hang on..... I think he's on holiday next week Anyway, do you think I should tell them about my notice and baby today? or wait until Weds when I drop him off (so I don't have to deal with them till I next see them).
If I tell them Weds then I have to act all normal today, a little misleading do you think? But then I've got the confrontation tomorrow. I don't know what to do!
Also I haven't really got my story straight yet. If you were the parents (bare in mind you have to be extremely precious and selfish and unappreciative) how would you like me to tell you? Basically I have a full-timer starting at the end of October which means I wont have space for current mindee. Also as pregnant, need the income from a full timer (current mindee only 2 days per week - used to be 5 days, then 3 days)
I will be telling them verbally as well as by email. Obviously verbally first. I hate confrontations

MollieMooma · 09/09/2008 08:53

Fruity I think (as your PA) that you should tell them today, get it over and done with and then you can confirm in writing tomorrow. I can tell them for you if you like!
At the end of the day if they get arsey then so be it, you've got what you want (a baby) and a better replacement later in the year full time so more money, so think of the positives and try and relax not good for fruitlet all this stressing

scully · 09/09/2008 12:05

As a parent, I would want as much notice as possible, to find an alternative. And for you, probably better to get it out of the way now. The new parents starting in October, they know you're pregnant? I just know what a juggling act it can be finding childcare you're happy with, and it's so disruptive moving children around, so I have my parent's hat on now, but I was never precious or selfish, promise I remember being in tears leaving both of dd1's nursery's, 2yrs apart, one when we left London and the 2nd time when we left the UK. God help me when she finishes primary and high school
Start of my working week tomorrow, so probably won't be on here much until Friday night, enjoy everyone

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 09/09/2008 12:33

Hi ladies. Still feeling like pants. Cold spread to my ears now so raging ear ache. Might have to take some Nurofen, but I don't want to just in case.... but alternative is walking around all day with ear ache and swooshing noises from pressure build up. Am sure one nurofen can't hurt?

Mollie Nothing wrong with spending time in the loo sobbing. And nothing wrong with going thru emotional ups and downs with DH. Truely beleive much much better to get all your feelings out rather than leaving them festering inside you. Hope consultant appt goes well. And hope you're settling back into work.

TeeHee I did try the 'I'm too cool for school' thing in the hotel but failed disnmally when I found out that Tobey Maguire was in the hotel gym. Screamed like a school girl and had to be restrained from running to gym to stare. Soooooooo uncool .

Fruity Hello lovely. I second what Scully said re: parents. But like you, I also hate confrontations. How you feeling? MS going? Or are you still carb queen?! We need to get another date in the diary to meet up as Libs wants to ses your DS again. And of course I'd love to see you!

Emmsy Where are you? All ok? You trying to get some rest?

Scully Have a good week at work. Are you symptom spotting? When do you get to test? Fingers crossed for you.

Ei Spooky. We get to test on the same day. Oooooo, how cool would it be if we both got BFP's. Fingers crossed hon. For both of us!

Hi to everyone else. xxxxxxxxxxx

Yarnie · 09/09/2008 13:06

Sorry you're still feeling a bit pants HTGG. Earache's the worst. Like toothache, I think it's exacerbated because the pain is so near your brain that it doesn't have far to travel(!) I'm fairly sure that's complete nonsense, but it's always how it feels to me!

Fruity I'm with the others - I reckon it's better for you and for them if you tell them asap. It gets it off your chest and gives them as much notice as possible.

What's your temp like today, Ei? Still looking promising for ov?

Mollie Well done on surviving your first day back at work. It's good to know you have lots of supportive colleagues, even if you did find their sympathy a little overwhelming! Hopefully it will be onwards and upwards for you from here on in .

My scan went well today. There was some farcical goings on with my newfound inability to control my bladder. I had to run back to the house and wee when I got to the bus stop and then I had to wee when I was in the waiting room for the scan (which they specifically tell you not to do). Unfortunately, I was going hot and cold and feeling a bit funny so I just had to go. I downed a bottle of water afterwards but got called really quickly. I still needed to wee (I had managed to stop mid-flow(!), but my bladder wasn't full enough and I think made the sonographer's work a bit harder. I am so lame.

Anyway, the important thing is the Pip has all its appendages and was wriggling around. My NT measurement was well in the normal range too. I get my combined result in about a week.

I've got to go shopping for something to wear to a wedding on Saturday. I'm at that just-look-a-bit-fat stage, so I don't think it's going to be fun.

Hope everyone else is well.

Oh, and there's a pic on my profile.

Yarnie · 09/09/2008 13:09

hello lovely ladies - where's Sparkly ? Am worried she has floated away !

Yarnie any news from you missus ? get those pics posted ASAP please

Ei, HTGG and scully I have my fingers & toes crossed ladies !

mibbes · 09/09/2008 13:18

yeay cross-posted - what a lovely clear pic Yarnie congrats and LOL at your dodgy bladder !

FruitynNutty · 09/09/2008 13:28

Kids are in bed and I'm having a yummy Jacket otato and tuna/sweetcorn mmmmmmm

Mollie yes I know I shouldn't stressing about it but these aren't the easiest people to approach If you could tell them that would be lovely!

Scully Yes the new parents know about the new baby and are really excited for me, They live next door to us so we know each other pretty well which makes me realise how nice and accommodating most people are. I've had nothing but positiveness from the other parents.
Mindee goes to a nursery twice a week now (they took him out of my care to do this) so I'm assuming he'll be able to go there for an extra two days. Mum is on maternity leave so she's at home. I'm not sure if she has any plans to return to work any time soon. She hasn't said anything to me and their new baby is 4 months old now.
I just think that they would drop me like a hat if they wanted to.
The trouble is they are really nice people on the surface (except for the constant disapproving looks I get off the dad - maybe he just looks that way).

Oh, I'm just going to have to bite the bullet aren't I. I'll just have to think of how to approach them. I'm hoping I can just do it.

Anyway,

Georgie MS seems to have gone, carbing it up everyday
Id love to meet up again soon, when are you free next? Mornings are best for me. I'm pretty low on kids until my new baby starts (part time from end of Sept)
DS starts afternoons at nursery school next Weds.
If you fancy Wacky Warehouse one morning then Mons, Weds and Fridays are good for me. It's toddler time there now so it's £3 for 1st child then only £1.50 for each extra child plus tea, coffee and biccies are free

cricri · 09/09/2008 13:57

Congratulations on a good scan Yarnie and what a lovely clear picture Good luck with the clothes shopping - that "I just look fat" stage is not good. I'm sure you'll find something lovely though - something empire-line maybe?
Fruity Good luck with telling the parents. Don't envy you that at all
Where is Kate these days? Hope you're OK Kate and that the wedding went OK.
Mollie Glad your test results came back OK although I can understand that it would be easier if they had picked up something. Hopefully the consultant will have some answers for you. Your colleagues sound lovely but it must have been a bit overwhelming on your first day back. Take things easy and more time off if you need to.
HTGG Hope the ear-ache goes soon It's really horrible. I'm sure one nurofen won't hurt.
Ei Hope all goes well with your consultant's appt too.
Hello to everybody I've missed

NarkySparkly · 09/09/2008 18:27

Hi all,
Another quick one from me....have had an emotionally draining day and am feeling a bit . It sounds so silly ..... my best mate has such a difficult life...he lost his mum a few years ago (in an awful car accident in another country) and his father stuggles to look after himself, so when he visits Cardiff he has a lot to do and I try to help him as much as I can. Basically, he came back for DD's christening (he's now her godfather) and his found the family cat to be quite poorly. We took her to the vet and decided that the best thing would be for the cat to be put to sleep. He found this very upsetting..not because the cat was so ill but because it was his mum's cat. He's usually so resilient but the tears were pouring down his face and this really upset me...especially because he now has to drive back to London for work tomorrow. ARRGGHHHH it sounds so daft but he never opens up and tried to move on very quickly after his mum was killed (depsite feeling quilty for not being able to save her).

I'll catch up with everyone tomorrow Sorry for going on so much, it just sometimes helps to write it all down.

Yarnie Glad everything went well with you.

MollieMooma · 09/09/2008 19:13

Yarnie Really pleased it went well, lovely pic
Georgie Sorry your feeling poorly, sending you a big hug and some cake
Fruity Did you do it?
Sparkly You are not being silly at all It sounds like you're having a stressful time, trying to comfort and support your friend, who obviously still has grief issues, bless him. I hope it made you feel better to write it down hun, sending you a hug. How's your friend doing who lost her LO? You've got a lot going on with other people, don't forget to look after yourself
I thought I'd bring some baked goods in today as we haven't done it for a while, so putting out some freshly baked carrot cake, still slightly warm and a lovely pot of tea Help yourselves

NarkySparkly · 09/09/2008 19:26

And to top it all off I've been to the loo and to find I've had some brown bleeding. Am also getting fairly bad cramps so don't think it's going to be good news.
