Anyone TTC after a recent early loss and wanting support? (Aug 26)

Hi, I thought I’d start a separate thread for anyone who is TTC after a recent early loss, so we can support each other through what can be a really difficult time. 💕

I’m 39 and TTC for my first. I conceived after around four cycles, but sadly had a missed miscarriage mid-July at around 9 weeks, (development had stopped at 6).

I stopped bleeding last Sunday and have started noticing some cervical mucus returning over the past few days, so I’m hoping my body is beginning to get back into its normal rhythm.

I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so can’t use LH strips to track ovulation yet, so for now, my plan is to get back to some exercise, eating well and have sex every 2-3 days. I’m feeling positive and hopeful but also trying to take my mind off the waiting!

If anyone else is going through something similar and would like to share the journey and support each other x

Hugs @Maybebby and hoping you have good support around you. It's so rubbish 💐

Lots of luck to everyone in fertile window too.

CD4 here and and I'm trying to up the wholesome distracting hobbies! Today's adventures are baking soda bread and starting to make a Christmas stocking for my new little nephew ❤️

Ah that sounds lovely @Witchfoot!

I’m 8 DPO and have booked a few swimming sessions this week to help pass the time in the evenings 😊

How are you ladies getting on that got positives recently? I’ve been thinking about you and hope you are doing okay - I haven’t tagged in case you are taking a break from threads 😊

I'm still watching this thread and hoping to see some more BFPs soon too!

Am about 7-8w in but was tracking behind in growth at a reassurance scan, so having a very anxious time currently. Hoping it won't end up a MMC.

I’m sorry you are having an anxious time @tabbycatslave, do you have another scan planned? Are you having any symptoms?

I know how worrying it must be and hope everything turns out okay ❤️

@Springcloud26 I guess I must have a quick surge now! I got pregnant on my first try using clearblues with dc1 and I remember a flashing smiley. But only tried the last 2 months with CB ovulations tests and both times jumped straight to static smiley. Let's see if I can fit in all this dtd!
I'm not sure about ovulation symptoms - I did feel cramping yesterday but I often get cramps anyway so probably symptom spotting.

Sorry to hear this @Maybebby . Totally get where you're coming from saying it's a relief - such a tough time for you.

No suspicious symptoms - have my first midwife appointment tomorrow so hopefully they will be able to advise.

Thinking of everyone waiting for appointments 💐

How are you doing on the holding-off-on-testing front @Springcloud26? Hope the swimming has been a good distraction!

Springcloud26 · 03/11/2026 18:50

@Witchfoot 10 DPO today and I haven’t tested! I am anxious today though as got my 21 day blood test back yesterday and it was 13 nmol for progesterone which is low. I’m reading mixed things about what it means and have asked for a call from gp.

Swimming again tonight to switch off!

How are you doing?

ElinorDashw00d · 04/11/2026 06:51

@Springcloud26 how’s the swimming going? Do you set yourself a target or just swim for however long? I keep passing out local pool and thinking I’d love a swim!

I’m CD21 today- no temp rise and had a static smiley on Saturday night (but when I pulled out the stick it didn’t look very positive to me!). Not really sure what’s going on but have my first appointment with an IVF clinic on Friday where I have a scan so maybe they can see if I’ve ovulated?!

Thinking of everyone going through a tough time x

ElinorDashw00d · 04/11/2026 06:51

Passing our local pool not passing out- that would be dangerous! 😂

Springcloud26 · 04/11/2026 07:48

@ElinorDashw00d I’m finding the swimming very relaxing, and defintely don’t want to pass out! 😂 I have been doing 25 mins, quite relaxing pace, will increase to 40-45 mins tonight as won’t go again until next week. It’s just all the hair washing that goes with it! 😂

I hope you get some answers at your fertility appointment. I’m still waiting for a letter about my referral.

I’m out, 11 DPO started spotting today, which prompted me to test this evening and negative. Caught me by surprise and just waiting for period to arrive tomorrow or Friday.

Hope everyone is doing okay x

Ahh, I'm sorry @Springcloud26, it's just so gutting isn't it. Did you hear back from the GP at all about the progesterone reading?

Take care of yourself ❤️

Posypear · 04/11/2026 19:39

@Springcloud26 I'm sorry it's really tough seeing a negative. Hope you are taking care of yourself. How are you feeling?

Springcloud26 · 04/11/2026 19:59

Thank you @Witchfoot @Posypear ❤️ I have a call booked mid-Nov to talk about the results but will try to bring it forward. I’m okay, I’ve gone through the usual wave of hope and disappointment, needed the test for some closure!

Hi all. I am definitely back/will be back to this thread unfortunately. Confirmed MMC today and D&C will hopefully happen next week. I knew it was very likely, but am gutted. It seems that I can get pregnant pretty much every cycle, but cannot get them to stick -- suppose it could be a horrible run of bad luck, but I am worried there is something wrong with me given it's happened twice in a row. The hospital said they won't check the tissue until it's happened another 2 times (!).

Not sure if this is this is the place to ask, but do you think the surgical option is better? I just want to start again ASAP without having to see the evidence, and the risks don't seem so bad, but not sure if it makes any difference in terms of ovulation. I also absolutely hate having smears done so am hoping the pain relief offered is a bit better than it is during those.

Hi @tabbycatslave- so sorry that it wasn’t better news for you.
We were pregnant at the same time I think- I had a chemical and yours has ended in MMC. Very sad.
before my chemical, I had a miscarriage and I went for surgical management. I actually miscarried naturally before as surgery wasn’t booked for until after the weekend, but I ended up still having the surgery because there was some retained product despite having passed the sac. So I kind of have experience of both.

If I was in the position again, I’d have the surgery again.
It was in and out and everyone was very kind and caring.
It didn’t affect me breastfeeding and meant there was no wondering whether it was done.
I fell pregnant next proper cycle, but that ended in chemical and I’m trying again now.

Personal preference but for me I chose surgical management simply because I wanted clarity around completion and to mentally be able to move on.

Sending lots of love xx

fluffycauliflowers · Yesterday 16:01

I should add that I had no pain for surgical management but found naturally passing the sac quite painful.

ElinorDashw00d · Yesterday 17:09

I’m so sorry @tabbycatslave .

I just want to say be kind to yourself at this time.

I kind of wanted surgical management but ended up having expectant management due to needing to travel for a funeral and not being able to get in before that. My experience was better than I thought it would be but I read lots of statistics that made me feel it was not going to all pass. The surgical gives much more certainty.

It’s a difficult time, thinking of you x

I’m so sorry @tabbycatslave , I am currently naturally miscarrying and have never had surgical so can’t offer much advice in that department unfortunately, I was going to opt for surgical to have it over with but I started naturally before I had the chance and it’s been pretty manageable actually. I hope whatever you choose goes smoothly and makes this awful situation less traumatic for you❤️‍🩹.

im in the same boat as you i think, i can fall pregnant quite easily, but getting them to stick is the hard part. EPU said the same thing that they won’t investigate till ive had 3 in a row! Fab. I will be under them though once I fall again for scans etc so I think I might lie and say I’ve had some spotting just to be put on progesterone. At this point I just want to do whatever it takes and if that’s the only way I can get it then so be it.

thinking of everyone having a tough time🤍

So sorry to read this @Maybebby

I’ve had two miscarriages in a row - first surgically managed for retained product after natural miscarriage and second was a chemical pregnancy.
The nurse in EPAU all but told me to lie for the next one about spotting for exactly that reason - so I think you should do that too.

I actually have some from this last time around so will just take it proactively as soon as I fall pregnant I think.
I doubt I would even need to lie as I’ve bled through every pregnancy regardless of outcome - have had 4 pregnancies and 2 children.

I feel the same as you and @tabbycatslave- getting pregnant isnt the problem so much as staying pregnant is.

Changechangechange1 · Today 16:40

Hi ladies, I stepped away from this thread a while ago as I’ve been in a pretty bad place and putting so much pressure on myself to conceive which is mostly out of my control really! I hope everyone is doing ok. It sounds like there are some pregnancies, I am genuinely so happy for you ❤️🌈

I’ve had my 3rd period since the MMC and entering my fertile window now. It’s been pretty dark times when AF arrived. I submitted an e-consult with my GP yesterday asking for fertility testing as I’m concerned as I’m 39! Has anyone had tests via the NHS. Any advice about what to ask for? x
