Anyone TTC after a recent early loss and wanting support? (Aug 26)

Hi, I thought I’d start a separate thread for anyone who is TTC after a recent early loss, so we can support each other through what can be a really difficult time. 💕

I’m 39 and TTC for my first. I conceived after around four cycles, but sadly had a missed miscarriage mid-July at around 9 weeks, (development had stopped at 6).

I stopped bleeding last Sunday and have started noticing some cervical mucus returning over the past few days, so I’m hoping my body is beginning to get back into its normal rhythm.

I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so can’t use LH strips to track ovulation yet, so for now, my plan is to get back to some exercise, eating well and have sex every 2-3 days. I’m feeling positive and hopeful but also trying to take my mind off the waiting!

If anyone else is going through something similar and would like to share the journey and support each other x

@fluffycauliflowers sounds like you are covering well! Yes, also it will happen if you relax? How do you relax about it?! 😂

@Posypear I think you’re still in! I can understand feeling so upset at seeing the negative though.

We had our gp appointment this evening and have been referred, which can take 3 months to come through. They will take bloods locally end of this month though when I’ll be day 25 to check what they can, including hoping to catch the progesterone surge. Feel better that we have this in progress if nothing happens over the next few months!

Thanks girls - I have honestly LOST it this month!?!
@fluffycauliflowers yes hate it when people say that- clearly you can see I'm not relaxed- ha ha. Also literally everyone asks me if we'd like another baby at any opportunity - so frustrating!
@Springcloud26 glad to hear your appointment went well. Do you know what tests they are running on your bloods?

Springcloud26 · 14/10/2026 22:41

@Posypear they are checking things like thyroid, folate, vit d, iron and progesterone. They did say the specific ovulation fertility ones will need to wait until the referral. I think just seeing if there’s anything they can catch earlier that we can fix.

That will be good either way - always nice to have any kind of MOT!

re my weird lack of ovulation… I think we may finally be cooking with gas…!

@fluffycauliflowers yay that’s a strong line, definitely positive! What CD are you?

OP posts:
fluffycauliflowers · 15/10/2026 20:40

CD 22

Witchfoot · 15/10/2026 22:09

Wow @fluffycauliflowers that's an impressive line!

I had an LH surge today too (CD15) so here we are again... staring down the barrel of another TWW 🙃

Springcloud26 · 16/10/2026 07:19

@Witchfoot @fluffycauliflowers happy ovulation day and good luck for the TWW!

CD10 for me and don’t think I’ll ovulate for another 10 days, it seems like such a long time to wait but know I have daily testing and dtd to focus on!

Good luck to everyone for this month. My cycle returned yesterday so looks like I can start trying again this month too. I have mixed feelings but feel ready to start again.

Happymama04 · 17/10/2026 08:21

Hope everyone is doing ok! I’ve just finished AF, bought clear blue digital ovulation tests this month but we’re in Spain staying in an apartment with my in laws over the fertile period this month 🫠😂

Springcloud26 · 17/10/2026 09:42

Hope you’re feeling okay @DearKoala, that’s good news that your cycle returned but I understand the mixed feelings, be kind to yourself x

@Happymama04 Ah that’s unfortunate timing! 😂 Can you find inventive ways to cover?! Hope you have a lovely time away.

I was awake most of the night and ended up researching about fertility treatment. Then started panicking that I’ve left it too late to be funded by the NHS if I do need it, as I turn 40 in May and I was reading that treatment needs to start before then. My referral went in this week with about a 3 month wait - it’s very tight?

I do still hope that it happens naturally again for us but it would be reassuring to know other options were still open.

@Springcloud26 I hope your appointment comes through quickly. How are you feeling about it all?

@Happymama04 that’s typical. I thought we were away this month but actually was a few days later so you never know.

CD2 for me now as well. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Springcloud26 · 18/10/2026 09:14

@ElinorDashw00d thank you, I’ll give a couple of weeks and see if I have a date and if not will chase just to check it’s gone through okay.

CD 12 today and got my first flashing smiley! I have been feeling quite down and disappointed about getting BFN last cycle, and my mood has completely changed seeing the flashing smiley - I feel hopeful and excited for this cycle. Has anyone else experienced this? Hormones? Or psychological?

OP posts:
Posypear · 18/10/2026 09:23

Good luck for everyone just starting their cycle! Finger's crossed it's a lucky one for all of you. Hope you get your referral in soon @Springcloud26 !

AF is three days late but definitely not pregnant! Tested dpo 9, 11 and 12 as I normally get AF on dpo 11. Cycle is already 32 days this month and it's normally 28 with no sign of AF. Ovulation was delayed 5 days so assume it will come in a few days.

Feels like everyone else I know is currently pregnant too!

Springcloud26 · 18/10/2026 10:36

Thank you @Posypear 😊 I hope you get some answers soon, I know how frustrating it is having to wait!

Witchfoot · 18/10/2026 12:32

Ahh, sympathies @Posypear, that's frustrating. I remember shortly after we started TTC I had a random period come 3 days late having been regular as clockwork forever. It really messes with your mind.

I also really understand the feeling of everyone being pregnant but you. Yet another friend announced their pregnancy yesterday and it kind of gutted me, as selfish as that sounds. I guess it's just the life stage lots of us are at but GOD it's relentless.

Yay for flashing smiley @Springcloud26, and I'm glad you're feeling positive about this cycle, that's really lovely! Long may it continue 🥳

Hahaaa good luck with the trip @Happymama04! If it helps, one of my friends conceived after a week of awkward, silent sex while on hols with the PILs in the next room, so there's hope! 😂

Posypear · 18/10/2026 16:07

@Witchfoot yes I completely get it! I'm genuinely thrilled for them but over the last month 7 friends have announced their due date which has been tough.
After the last pregnancy announcement I just got my DH to go for a drink in the pub with me to cheer me up! 🤣Even the last episode of TV I watched had an unplanned but happy surprise pregnancy in it - we had to switch off! 🤣

@Springcloud26 great news about the flashing smiley!
@Happymama04 typical - enjoy the holiday!

Haha I love that! We also have our 2 kids to contend with but hopefully we’ll manage once or twice 😂 I think my actual O day will be the day after we get back so not completely out if we don’t manage it 🤞

Springcloud26 · 21/10/2026 13:52

How is everyone doing?

I think I’ll ovulate this weekend, we’re covering every other day and watching closely for CM (noticed tiny bit yesterday). Still flashing smiley and I’ll start the strips this evening!

OP posts:
ElinorDashw00d · 21/10/2026 18:33

Good luck @Springcloud26 i hope this is your month!

I’m ok thanks. Always feel a bit more positive at the beginning of the month. I’ve gone a bit mad looking at statistics for my age range, but ultimately it’s difficult to apply them at an individual level.

Only CD7 for me!

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Witchfoot · 22/10/2026 08:01

Good luck @Springcloud26! How are the strips looking?

I'm on 6-7dpo (never quite sure when ovulation actually happens but had LH peak last Thurs). I'm starting to feel the odd twinge but that's pretty normal for me in the last week or so of the cycle.

Going to do my best to not think about it tbh! I'm tired of symptom spotting and being wrong 😂

Springcloud26 · 23/10/2026 07:33

Thank you @ElinorDashw00d @Witchfoot I’m very excited this morning, got my first ever solid smiley with one test to spare and also did an LH strip where the lines were very nearly as dark! So I’ll test again this afternoon to see if I peaked over night or if it’s today. In any case, I’ll count ovulation as tomorrow CD 19, which is a day or so early for me.

I’m also starting to understand and trust my body as I noticed a lot of ewcm yesterday, which is also reassuring.

@ElinorDashw00d I also find myself looking at statistics, especially in the TWW!

@Witchfoot It’s so hard not to symptom spot! Are you an early tester or will you wait?

OP posts:
Witchfoot · 23/10/2026 09:30

That's great news @Springcloud26!

I seem to get EWCM so inconsistently - some cycles not at all and others at seemingly random times though the month. Who knows what that means!

I am typically an early tester, yeah, but I really shouldn't be as I still hold out some hope until my periods come anyway 😂

I'm already finding myself thinking about it, so I'm sure I'll crack well before I'm due!

Edited

I have always waited until period is 2-3 days late, once I was a week late though and still negative which was disappointing so think I must have had very late ovulation (it was before I tracked)! I tested early last month and didn’t like it - like you say the hope lasts a little longer holding on, so I will go back to waiting until 14-15 DPO 😊

OP posts:
ElinorDashw00d · 24/10/2026 18:30

Yes I try and wait too. Both times I’ve been pregnant I’ve had a negative test before the positive one. This last cycle I was quite late with my period and did have some spotting, really got my hopes up so ended up buying a test on holiday which was negative. But at least I knew then.
