Anyone TTC after a recent early loss and wanting support? (Aug 26)

Hi, I thought I’d start a separate thread for anyone who is TTC after a recent early loss, so we can support each other through what can be a really difficult time. 💕

I’m 39 and TTC for my first. I conceived after around four cycles, but sadly had a missed miscarriage mid-July at around 9 weeks, (development had stopped at 6).

I stopped bleeding last Sunday and have started noticing some cervical mucus returning over the past few days, so I’m hoping my body is beginning to get back into its normal rhythm.

I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so can’t use LH strips to track ovulation yet, so for now, my plan is to get back to some exercise, eating well and have sex every 2-3 days. I’m feeling positive and hopeful but also trying to take my mind off the waiting!

If anyone else is going through something similar and would like to share the journey and support each other x

I keep saying I’ll wait but just did one this morning at 7/8dpo and got a negative which predictably ruined my mood despite its relative meaninglessness!! I never learn!

It is so hard not to! For me I think it’s because the TWW drags so much, and I crave something to control, like taking a test! At least the first half of cycle I feel like I am doing something with dtd and lh strips, which keeps my mind occupied!

That’s exactly it for me too.
How long has everyone been at this?
For me, the pregnancy that ended in miscarriage was the start of us trying - that happened in June. I then had a chemical in September.
Falling pregnant is happening but staying pregnant isn’t.
I am desperate to quit my job but need one more maternity leave out of my employer and so getting pregnant is literally my everything - life plan, career plan, all of it! I just want it to happen so badly 🙈

I started trying in January this year, got pregnant on 4th cycle which was MMC in July. Now 1 DPO on 2nd proper cycle (there was the weird recovery between).

I was feeling really positive falling on my 4th cycle as it was the first cycle I tracked ovulation, I was just guessing to start with as had no idea after being on pill for 20 plus years and never trying before.

I know exactly how you feel in the job front - I was ready to apply for new jobs earlier this year after structural changes, but have a great maternity package and so thought it would be the wrong time to move and just to carry on. Luckily things are improving at work so the pressure is off a little bit if it doesn’t happen straight away but now I’m getting worried at turning 40 next year!

Sorry if I have forgotten this, were you able to get any support from your gp?

We were two years before the pregnancy that ended in miscarriage this year. A bit of a shock as our first DC was cycle 1. But that was now 7.5 years ago.

I’m not sure if now I’ve conceived things are better or worse. Thinking about IVF though.

TwoBoysAndATabby · 25/10/2026 22:08

I’m 39 and have been trying since January, with a miscarriage in June. I’m on CD2 at the moment, but I’ve got really light brown bleeding, which I’ve never had before, I’m not sure what it is! I’m just so fed up and miserable that I’m here again. DC1 was 2 months and DC2 was 5 months of trying. I know I should be grateful for what I have, but honestly, I’m finding it really hard right now. I was just searching for others and found this thread!

Witchfoot · 26/10/2026 10:01

I cracked and tested this morning at 10/11dpo and it's a BFN of course. Feeling distinctly crampy and emotional so I'm pretty sure my period's on the way again.

We've been trying (feat. varying levels of tracking) since Dec last year. Got pregnant on cycle 7 and it's been another 4 cycles since I miscarried.

Feeling pretty rubbishy today to be honest!

Hope everyone else is hanging in there ❤️

Wow, such different experiences @ElinorDashw00d. That must have been a real shock ❤️

I have my first fertility appointment in a few weeks so we'll be starting to think about that route as a future possibility too. I'm still hoping that everything is okay and it's just taking time, but I'd rather get in the system just in case!

Hi, I’m glad you found us, it can be really lonely and I’ve found sharing here with others going through the same so helpful! I’m sorry you’ve also had a loss. Was the bleeding really light on CD1 too, did it continue?

I’m sorry you are having a rubbish day, it’s such a rollercoaster of emotions. I hope you can plan something nice for yourself as a distraction.

Good idea to get in the system, even if you don’t end up needing to,

I’m 2DPO and have terrible bloating, which is causing a bit of discomfort, had a lovely bath earlier!

@Witchfoot im sorry- the end of each cycle is so tough. I feel I go from optimistic that this is the month to feeling really down by the end of it. Good to hear you’ve got an appointment lined up. Hopefully you don’t need it!

@TwoBoysAndATabby sorry that you are having a hard time too. I also found for the last couple of periods I’ve had light brown spotting before it gets going, is that what you mean? It makes it difficult to know when to count CD1 from!

Thank you, it does help a lot. Yes really light pink. And very light! AF has finally started today, so now very confused to if this is CD4 or CD1!

Yes now AF has finally started I’m not sure if this is CD4 or CD1!

My fertility clinic said to count CD1 as the first day of full flow only. So don’t count spotting or very light bleeding etc.

Janey3090 · 27/10/2026 09:59

Sigh.. feeling a bit despondent today.

Had a D&C early Sept after a MMC and desperate to get pregnant again. Had one period since so now on second cycle. I often have anovulatory cycles, but when I do ovulate it tends to be day 20 onwards.

I thought over the weekend I was getting my surge early as I got to 0.71 and had fertile CM, only for it to drop yesterday but then pick up a little today. CM is more creamy though and not stretchy so not really like fertile CM. 😞

Has anyone had similar but still ovulated? Could it be that my body was trying but failed but could still do it? Help! X

Sorry you're feeling down @Janey3090 ❤️

Could it be possible you had your peak at a different time of the day (not sure whether some times are AM or PM in your pic)? I tend to only catch mine in the late afternoon/evening, so it might be that you peaked but didn't see it on a strip?

Though if you normally ovulate after CD20 it might still be on its way 🤞🤞🤞

It's so hard to know what's going on sometimes.

If it's any consolation my CM seems completely random though the month and I don't think I noticed any the cycle I actually got pregnant!

Posypear · 27/10/2026 11:28

Sorry to hear this @Janey3090 . Do you track BBT? Last month I had positive clear blue smiley but my ovulation occured a week after this which I could only tell by temperature measurement. Apparently that's more accurate than the ovulation tests.

It’s so hard to know what to count! My first proper cycle after MMC I had 3 days of brown spotting before proper flow (usually AF arrives straight away). I used chat gpt which said to count the first day of flow as CD1, but even then I found it confusing!

I had a false start this month with ovulation. Got signs and a light surge on 6th but then real surge on 16th - I’d this helps. It was also my first cycle after a chemical pregnancy so I reckon that’s why it was a bit skewiff - perhaps same for you after your MMC.

In other news am 12dpo now and got another BFN so think I’m out this month.
Now to wait for AF to arrive… just in time for a week away with my in laws, as if that wasn’t bad enough 🙄

Janey3090 · 28/10/2026 13:38

@Witchfoot Thank you lovely! I don't think I have had my peak as my LH test is still a little elevated today and they normally drop right back down again post ovulation. Hoping it's just an unusual month (cycle getting back to normal) but that I do ovulate in a couple of days!

@Posypear Sadly I don't, I have tried it before but it just doesn't work with me as I'm up so often in the night plus a mouth breather. I could do with an Oura ring or something like that (maybe I could ask for one for Christmas haha!)

Janey3090 · 28/10/2026 13:39

@fluffycauliflowers Thank you, hoping that is the case for me.

Sorry to hear about your BFN, not good timing being with in-laws but are you going somewhere nice at least? 🙏

Janey3090 · 28/10/2026 13:41

FWIW this is today’s test.. so a little darker but not peak yet. Definitely think my body is trying to do something but failing.. let’s just hope it does manage to ovulate 🤞🏼🥺
