Letrozole / Clomid 2026

Hi everyone!

Just thought I'd see if anyone else is planning to TTC with the help of ovulation induction in 2026.

Am 33, PCOS, have a lovely 16 month old boy conceived on letrozole, have been not using contraception since his birth with no success... so I think it's time to go on the meds again. Got in contact with the GP yesterday, waiting for a call back and hopefully a referral to the fertility team.

Will have to stop breastfeeding which I feel pretty sad about. But hopefully will be worth it in the end. ❤️ 👶🏻

So I’m now 6 days post trigger shot and my pregnancy tests are pretty much negative (I always choose to test out the trigger shot 💗)

However on previous months my tests were still quite strong. Seems like my body is getting rid of the HCG a lot quicker this time? I’m guessing this isn’t a good thing?

Can’t help but feel already like this cycle (number 4) hasn’t worked. 😭

My tests are now negative and no symptoms. Did my trigger shot on the 16th, so assuming I'm not pregnant again this month! xx

Hi all just joining the thread. I’m doing letrozole cycle hoping to conceive dc3! I have mild pcos, ovulate fine on my own with regular 29 day cycles, but I have autoimmune issues that mean I need to time meds from ovulation so my clinic offers letrozole+trigger to help with that. I conceived DCs 1 and 2 on this on cycle 1 and cycle 3 of trying, but I was 31 and 33 then - now 39 so expecting it to take a bit longer!

This is my first cycle trying and I have my follicle scan tomorrow…so wish me luck!

10dpo and no line on a FRER… I think I can rule myself out. I had a clear line at this stage with my DD. Feeling heartbroken!

@Janey3090 did you trigger/are you sure of ovulation?

I always had nothing at 9dpo and then very faint at 10, so if you’re even 1 day out there’s still a chance?

I just had my follicle scan and have 3 good sized follicles and a good lining, so all systems go this month!

Thanks for the reply! I did my trigger on the morning of 16th Feb, so I’m pretty certain ovulation would have been on 17th Feb, though I don’t do BBT tracking. With my DD I had a quite clear line on a FRER by 10dpo too 😞

Yes, trigger day. Follicles are 22 and 18 on the left and 22 on the right, and lining is 9mm which the doctor said was perfect. I’ve just turned 39 and had an 18 month break from trying and have been worrying about the impact of my age, but so far at least all looks ok. Just down to DH now over the next few days!

@Janey3090 i think it’s still worth testing in the morning, just to check. What cycle is this for you?

How is everyone getting on? We finally have a date for our next appointment - 10th April! Fingers crossed we will be given meds then! 🤞

Hey @Em3009 that’s exciting! It’s always good when you’ve got a next step to work towards. Are they going to discuss the hycosy results with you then too?

No news here, I’m on cycle 3 of letrozole, 1DPO I think. Had a consultation last week and the doc suggested we increase my dose from next month for 3 cycles, then there’s nothing else they can do really as we don’t qualify for NHS IVF funding! So we’re starting to work out what we’d do next, but still hopeful the let will work its magic x

Im 3dpo today and it is seriously dragging already. I’ve been telling AI all my info and it says I’ve got a 30-35% chance of pregnancy this cycle which is pretty good but obviously more likely that I won’t conceive.

@JLP256 hopefully they will although I don’t think they seemed too concerned as I have one good tube! But we will see :) I’m excited to hopefully be starting medication after the appointment! 🤞 oh that’s rubbish that you don’t qualify! Really hope the increased dose does something for you! Or even better that this month is the one 🤞

@BurningOutt I’m not sure! I have PCOS and really don’t have a cycle so tend to take meds to induce a bleed so hopefully they will tell me to do that then I could start end of April time! But we will see what they say 🙈

@Em3009 this is cycle 1 for me on this round of ttc, but it’s dc3 for me and the others were conceived via Letrozole. My situation is a bit unusual as I don’t have pcos/I ovulate by myself, but I have to time medication with ovulation so my clinic does the trigger to help with that. Having some extra follicles now I’m a bit older (39) to boost my chances is also welcome!

@BurningOutt I’m on 5mg at the moment. What about you? The consultant wants to increase to 7.5mg from next month if nothing happens, which seems high to me based on what I’ve read, but I figure I might as well try anything at this point! Have you had any side effects? I’ve had some stomach cramping during the pill days and bad skin during my TWW (could be coincidence) so I’m hoping these don’t get too much worse if I increase my dose.

@JLP256 im on 7.5mg and I don’t even have any ovulation problems! I’m 39 though - when I had DC1 at 30 I was on 2.5, and then 5 when I had DC1 at 33 - I think doctor is happy to increase as egg quality declines. Ive never noticed any side effects from letrozole. I had 3 good follicles this month and lining also good so doctor said the dose was spot on.

Hello ladies. I realise this hasn’t been posted on in a couple of weeks but I’d like to revive it.

I’m 42 with horrifically low AMH and high FSH and irregular cycles, but my fertility doctor has said with two previous spontaneous quick conceptions I might as well give ovulation induction a go.

Just heard yesterday that the first round of letrozole hasn’t worked as my oestrogen isn’t rising so I’m pivoting to FSH injections this cycle. I can’t see how it’ll work as my FSH is so high anyway but trying to trust the process! Has anyone else had this?

Hey! All ok here, I’m now on my first cycle of the 7.5mg letrozole dosage after 3 unsuccessful cycles at 5mg. I’m on CD13 so hoping to get a positive OPK soon. Getting pretty fed up now but also trying to stay hopeful one of the next cycles of let works and we don’t have to go to IVF!

How are you? Have you had your appointment yet or is that next month?

Thanks @JLP256 - yes, day three today. Had some acupuncture and got some industrial strength supplements 😅 so we’ll see how we go.

Hope the increased letrozole works for you. If you don’t mind me asking - what didn’t work with the 5mg? Did you ovulate and just not conceive, or not ovulate? I’m trying to figure out how it all works!

@SherlockHolmess I don’t mind at all! My clinic hasn’t done much monitoring but I had a day 21 blood test during my first cycle and it looked like I did ovulate but maybe was a day or two out with the test. I’ve been getting positive OPKs too and my cycles are regular etc so it seems I am ovulating. The consultant was pretty honest that we increasing the dosage was basically the last thing the NHS can offer me (because I already have a child). So keeping fingers crossed for these cycles! How did you find the acupuncture? I’m tempted to try it.

Acupuncture was relaxing @JLP256 and I got some good supplements. Nice meditation while the needles were in!
Hope the increased dosage works for you. Would you do IVF if not?
Oestrogen still not rising so the dosage of the FSH got upped today 🤷🏻‍♀️

@SherlockHolmess we’d definitely consider IVF if the increased dosage doesn’t work, as we’d really love a second child. Would just have to work it all out from a timing/financial perspective. Hope this cycle is going ok for you!
