TWW feels like forever

WHY does the TWW feel like forever?! I thought I was 7dpo then I actually hit my peak late, and now I’m 3dpo and just want to test😂 fertile window being 28th-2nd with ovulation on 3rd and BD every other day so really hoping it’s done the trick. Had a chemical on Nov 10th. Did anyone fall pregnant the cycle after a chemical?

@TashieWoo I stopped my pill on Nov 29th, got my first period Dec 29th so not too long but didn’t even get a period last time around! Technically tomorrow is my expected ovulation date according to the app but there’s not much data to go by. I wasn’t going to use ovulation strips but I’m glad I have as I can see a clear surge happening now. Also reassuring to see a surge!

Bassbeh17 · 10/01/2026 18:40

I’m really hoping you can all see these clearly, should I be taking this as a positive ovulation strip??? It was barely there yday so I think it is but I’ve not done them before. We dtd yday and two days before and will tonight so I’m hoping we’ve got it at the right time 🤞🏼 my ewcm was back on the 7th and we did it then too, we’ve basically been every other day since my period finished on 2nd so im praying we get it this month.

The test line should be as strong or stronger than the control line for it to count as positive. Do you have a picture of it when it had finished processing? It still has that pink background colour.
I’ll show you the pic of my positive

@Plumchumm i just went back to look! Didn’t realise I was meant to wait for the pink background to go 😂

@Bassbeh17 you look very close to your peak. You may have gotten your peak right after this test like couple hours later. If I see a test this strong, I’ll test the next few pees in a row to see the trend, that way I’ll be able to catch my peak (see it get the strongest it can go and then drop down), but I’d also have sex tonight and next day just in case I miss it in the test.
in my opinion if you had a period on 29th you’re likely to ovulate tomorrow

SKLM · 11/01/2026 07:19

@Bassbeh17 your lines are looking strong, good luck!! 😃

SKLM · 11/01/2026 07:21

@TashieWoo lovely to meet you. I'm 38 and trying for number 2, I have a little boy aged 15 months. I'm cycle 2 atm, i'm 6dpo today! I got a bit obsessed (well really obsessed) with testing last month so trying to dial it down a notch this month!!

SKLM · 11/01/2026 07:22

How is everyone today? x

Bassbeh17 · 11/01/2026 07:45

Ahhhh thanks everyone! We did have sex last night and the night before and will again today so hopefully we don’t miss it! I’ll test again this morning at some point and see if it’s dipped or not but hopefully we catch 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Bassbeh17 · 11/01/2026 08:06

So since I stopped taking my mini pill I have been experiencing cramps on and off which I expected but one thing I didn’t expect was I seem to now get pain with a full bladder. Not UTI pain or burning I’ve had that before but this feels like something else. When my bladder is full in the morning it is excruciating, worse if I also need a bm (sorry!) and then sometimes in the day it hurts in the pelvic/bladder area after I’ve peed like it’s been inflamed almost. I do have IBS (although they sort of gave me that label after giving up looking I feel) and now I wonder if the pill was covering hormonal symptoms of something else 🤷🏽‍♀️ I want to ask my doctor but given today could be the day for ovulation I’m scared anything they do will interfere with that!

Bassbeh17 · 11/01/2026 08:52

I’ve been googling and my symptoms are a lot like internal cystitis, I’ve had flare ups like this before after sex but naturally as we’ve been having it way more regularly it’s gotten much worse! I’m gonna make anGP appointment tomorrow I think. Currently sent OH downstairs with DD so I can curl up in bed! Good thing is if it is that it’s worsened by sex and shouldn’t be something that affects pregnancy.
sorry for my rambles this morning but wow the pain was like early labour pains!!!

Bassbeh17 · 11/01/2026 09:20

I know it’s not fully cleared yet but I definitely caught the surge last night. Now my dilemma is, do I have sex again today and risk exacerbated the symptoms of internal cystitis (I’ve read loads of this now and am 99% sure I have this as I’ve been suffering with it for years but regular sex trying to conceive has made it flare up!) or do I pray we’ve done it enough but potentially miss the opportunity! Might have to see how I feel later 😕 going to call GP tomorrow to get the ball rolling on internal cystitis though!

Hi @TashieWoo welcome to the group. I’m TTC for second too with a new partner. My daughter is almost 13. I’m 35 :)

@Bassbeh17 nice to see lines on your test strips 😊😊 I’m going to buy some ovulation tests next month if I need them.
When I was doing a bit of research about conceiving after hormonal contraception, it says it takes on average 4 months to conceive once we come off. Then to add age in to it too. In my head I’m expecting it to take a while to conceive. It doesn’t make it any less disappointing when af turns up though :/
Also sorry to hear about the pain during urination, definitely speak to your GP asap or pop in to your pharmacy, they are very good nowadays and can prescribe antibiotics if needed. Just make sure you tell them you’re ttc :) Good luck, keep us updated.

I’m still suffering with (what I assume to be) gastroenteritis. It started Wednesday evening so I’m going to visit a pharmacy today to get something for it because I’m fed up, feel rotten and I’m pretty sure it shouldn’t last this long.

My boobs are still really hurting me to a point where it’s waking me up in the night. 3 days of pain now which is unusual for me. They usually hurt only in the 3/4 days before af. I couldn’t say if I have any other symptoms because I’ve been poorly. The pregnancy test strips aren’t ultra early, so the chances of it giving me a positive over the next week is very low 🙈 but I’m also refusing to spend stupid money on other tests. So I’m going to wait it out and just keep dipping my little strips.

TashieWoo · 11/01/2026 11:44

Thank you @SKLM and @PandaLife , lovely to meet you both too.

I’m a bit less anxious today as my BBT is up again (I have an Oura ring which I actually got with TTC in mind), it has always been +0.2-0.3, I’m thinking of turning it off tonight though as it’s making me a bit obsessive.

I am 8dpo today and technically could get an early clear blue digital (I’d rather see the words than squint for a line I think) but I’m going to try and wait until Tuesday if I can unless AF comes before then.

Have just read some positive threads on Reddit about conceiving age 38 too 🙂. Distracting myself by colouring with DD and doing housework!

Plumchumm · 11/01/2026 12:26

@Bassbeh17 get gp to do a urine culture for UTI. I convinced myself I had interstitial cystitis because I didn’t have fever and all the other UTI signs and it just turned out to be a different strain of uti which was particularly resistant. Don’t suffer and make the conclusion until you’ve ruled out UTI.

i eventually got treated with 5 weeks if antibiotics and when I got better I realised my bladder doesn’t hurt when full and sex doesn’t irritate it either. UTI causes cystitis symptoms so you need to rule it out first :)

Bassbeh17 · 11/01/2026 12:51

@Plumchumm this is really interesting!! Ok I will phone tomorrow, thinking about taking the day off and just getting it sorted. I never take time off and feel super guilty but also it hurts 😞 can you take antibiotics if you’re potentially pregnant? Today’s my highest ovulation day so they won’t be able to check.

Yes honey, I’m on them right now and they make sure to give you ones that are safe. Also been pregnant before with a healthy baby and was on antibiotics the entire two week wait. Was totally fine, if anything it ensures that infection doesn’t intervene with implantation. I know I feel guilty too when I need to take care of myself as there’s always lots to do but you deserve this for you and your baby x

Bassbeh17 · 11/01/2026 18:45

@Plumchumm thanks this was helpful! I will get a urine sample in the morning and call before work that way I’m ready if they give me an appointment. The pelvic pain eased late morning and then I’ve just had aching and kidney area aches too. No urgency to wee though.
todays ovulation day for me, we have done the deed Monday, weds, fri, sat and this afternoon (very gently because of pain 😂) so 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 let the tww commence and let’s all pray I’m more patient than last time!!

SKLM · 11/01/2026 20:36

@Bassbeh17 I hope you manage to see the doctor tomorrow x. Sounds like you have symptoms of a UTI/interstitial cystitis but is it possible you could have endometriosis? I was diagnosed with endo after coming off the pill for a long stretch, in my twenties. I get urinary symptoms with it which are similar to UTI, but I am also prone to UTIs after sex too so can be a bit tricky sometimes to work out what is causing the pain! I also get pain after bowel movements. Endometriosis symptoms tend to be worse around ovulation and in the week leading up to your period. So for me at the moment, I get bad ovulation pain and bloating for about 5 days mid cycle with pain on having a BM too. If they dip your urine and it is negative, keep an eye on the symptoms. They will most likely give you antibiotics anyway! If you get pregnant and have endo the high levels of hormones tend to supress it for the whole 9 months. My last pregnancy was bliss pain wise. A lot of women with endo don't know they have it as they have been on contraception for ages - was the case with me! My plan is to get back on it after we have no 2 as my cycles are already horrid again. I hope you are okay! 😊

SKLM · 11/01/2026 20:38

@TashieWoo I am 7dpo tomorrow so a couple of days behind you! I know a lot of women who got pregnant successfully in their late thirties and early forties, so fingers crossed for us.

Bassbeh17 · 11/01/2026 20:57

@SKLM thanks for the advice, I have thought about endo but I don’t fit all of the symptoms, I don’t have heavy periods, even when I did have them they were quite light if anything! I’m going to try and get checked tomorrow and then go from there, if it continues I will go back and ask them to investigate further!

currently laying in bed with the most sore boobs 🤪

TashieWoo · 11/01/2026 21:37

I know this is so pathetic but every evening I’ve been so worried about going to bed and waking up to see what my BBT reading is first thing, knowing that if it’s down then AF is coming and this cycle hasn’t been successful. It’s like I had a good day today of not worrying too much because my BBT was up and that set the tone!

If my BBT is still up tomorrow ( I’m going to get some early clear blue digitals tomorrow (hoping I can find them cheaper than in waitrose yesterday where it was over £16 for just one!) then test Tuesday am. I’m working from home that morning before travelling for meetings in the afternoon so it’s a slightly gentler start to the day.

hope you feel better soon @Bassbeh17 xx

TashieWoo · 12/01/2026 07:04

BBT was a little lower at +0.1 today so think I might be out this month 🙁

SKLM · 12/01/2026 08:05

@Bassbeh17 how are you this morning?

@TashieWoo i'll Keep my fingers crossed for you. I know that anxiety, it's horrid! I had a chemical last cycle and watching the tests fade every morning was miserable just like checking your temp. But, you never know! You're not out yet try to enjoy your day 😊

Thank you so much, I think I’ll have to find some better coping strategies if this carries on for 6m+! But then I’m not out yet. I have a busy day at work today so hopefully that’ll keep my mind semi-occupied xx

PandaLife · 12/01/2026 10:50

How is everyone today?

My period is due next week, any time from Monday. My boobs are still really sore but the test strips are showing negative. I am very tempted to go out and see if I can buy a first response, I think Superdrug sell them .. if that shows negative, I’m pretty sure I’ll be out this cycle :/
@Bassbeh17 good luck with the doctor today. Let us know what they come back with. Welcome to the sore boob club 😂
