here's some interesting facts i read on reddit about ovulation 😍

Most women are taught that ovulation takes place the day before the temp rises, and that is misinformation. The majority of fertility charting apps will even mark your suspected day of ovulation as such. What those apps do not tell you is that there are many varibles when it comes down to your actual ovulation day. The truth is that ovulation can occur 4 days before the temp rises OR up to 2 days after the temp rises, so there is a 6 day span of when the follicle can rupture.

A positive LH test does not guarantee that an ovulation will follow. All an LH test does is detect the lutenizing hormone (LH) in your system. You can have all the signs of an ovulation, including fertile cervical mucus, positive LH tests, ovulation pains, etc., and not successfully release an egg. That is why it is imperative to confirm an ovulation each cycle with a sustained temp rise.
Ovulation typically follows a positive LH test within 36 hours from the START of the surge or within 8-12 hours of its peak. But, one thing to keep in mind is that the lutenizing hormone is first released into the bloodstream before it is excreted in urine. Once it is released into the bloodstream, it can take several hours for the lutenizing levels to build up high enough to trigger a positive result on a test. Therefore, by the time you actually see a positive result, ovulation may already be underway or already over. There may also be cycles when the egg may not be released until 2 to 3 full days from the start of the surge. It is solely dependent upon the type of LH surge you have and whatever your body decides to do during that cycle.
Immediately following follicular rupture, your cervical mucus will change from fertile to non-fertile consistency due to an abrupt drop in estrogen levels. Your fertile window for any given cycle does not close until after you have a sustained temp rise AND you are no longer experiencing and/or observing any type of fertile cervical mucus.

Wow, I’d never read some of that information before. Thank you for posting that.

LuckyDuck93 · 26/08/2025 09:15

@Ec2808 that's so interesting, so basically its even more of a guessing game than I thought it was initially 😆

Ec2808 · 26/08/2025 09:17

@EmPeEf my exact reaction when I read it 😂
@LuckyDuck93 i know right but it was soo interesting to read 😂

Interesting read, thank you! Then I guess my ovulation was earlier then I guessed, right around the time that I was feeling the twinges 🤔I'll start testing earlier then 😂

Ec2808 · 26/08/2025 10:52

Edited

I think ovulation should happen after you feel the pain / twinges, so for you, it might have happened yesterday evening! How exciting! I think I'll start testing today or tomorrow, some tests just arrived today 🤔

summertime94 · 26/08/2025 11:31

Is anyone using the easy at home Lh tests and Premom app? It's my first month and I got a reading of 1 yesterday (which said high but not peak) and 0.4 today, does this mean I have ovulated already?

i also did clear blue today and just got the blank circle. I wasn't expecting to ovulate until the weekend so haven't BD much (only yesterday)

Ec2808 · 26/08/2025 11:33

@Anya23 i would prefer that tbh that would mean i hit the most fertile days O-1, O-2 , O-3 and O-4 soo we shall see hahahah oooh soo exciting ! can't wait to test this month tbh!! this might sound crazy but for months i've been seeing the number 19 everywhere and if i conceive this month estimated due date would be 19/05/2026 soooo feeling very positive this cycle weirdly 😂

OP posts:
Ec2808 · 26/08/2025 11:35

@summertime94 do you have a screenshot maybe? if you had ratio 1 yesterday that was your peak and ovulation most likely today, the clearblue one did you only use it the once yesterday? or had you been using it multiple times?

I'd use it every day next month, but for now keep testing, to see if it stays low. When my LH starts to rise, I do a test twice a day, and then when it goes above 1, I might test three times a day 🫣which might be overkill but I'm able to catch my peak that way
For you the peak could have been your '1' or before / after that, I don't think we can tell this way

Ec2808 · 26/08/2025 11:42

@Anya23 thank youu !!
@summertime94 based off of LH tests your ovulating today, your LH levels have come down again, the clearblue ones set a baseline with the first test it's always negative, plus your ratio was 0.4 today anyway, for example i started testing with clearblue on CD7 got a blank circle then flashing smiley from CD9-12 and static smiley on CD13 😊

Update: Still no AF so far and still have weird symptoms. Negative test yesterday. 48 hours for HCG increase right?

Should be. When is AF due for you? Today? Has it ever arrived late?

Ec2808 · 26/08/2025 12:39

@rainbowsnack sorry to hear that how many dpo are you? I know by 14dpo you should have a pretty good line if you are pregnant...

OP posts:
rainbowsnack · 26/08/2025 13:34

Definitely over 14 DPO. Periods are irregular and I came on a day early last month. Don't normally have nausea as a PMS symptom and been feeling like this for a few days now so I have no idea what's going on. My pregnancy with DC, I had no symptoms at all

Ec2808 · 26/08/2025 14:21

@rainbowsnack hopefully you get answers soon 😕

Hey all. I hope you don’t mind me joining. I’m currently in the tww for baby 2. So confused with my chart and all tests so far are negative although I don’t feel 100% myself. Who knows!!

fullofhope2024 · 26/08/2025 16:42

Hi @bellaflower 🤗 welcome. How many dpo are you?
I’m 5/6 dpo and overthinking every little twinge. Will wait as long as I can to test. TTC no 2 x

fullofhope2024 · 26/08/2025 16:54

Anyone using easy at home pregnancy tests this month? I’m tempted to buy a box from Amazon. Not sure I’ll be able to wait until day af due/late. Not used the tests before or if anyone has a recommendation for cheaper tests before digital etc

bellaflower · 26/08/2025 17:00

Thanks @fullofhope2024well I think I’m 11 days but tests are negative. My period is expected today but nothing yet. My temp is still above baseline but it has been dropping. It feels like this cycle might not be the one. we shall see.

oh same here!!! I’m overthinking everything. I had a wave of nausea on Saturday - which is so unlike me. Plus headaches. Trying to remain positive but it’s so tough isn’t it!

Ec2808 · 26/08/2025 18:24

@fullofhope2024i use easy@home or premom and they are good for serial testing 🤣👍🏻
