@Andrasa how long have you been trying for up until now? If it was me I would keep going. You don't know how long it could take and you don't know how you'll feel in the first trimester. You might be ok. I've had two losses though so that's changed my perspective on things.

Hi Andrasa. As surelook says, you just don’t know. Personally I would have been absolutely fine doing that kind of holiday during my pregnancy. You just don’t know what kind of pregnancy you are going to have! I think I’d make my decisions based on my age / length of time trying etc.

Thanks! This month was our first time trying (plan was always to start after holiday, but i was just sick of waiting and figured second trimester would be ok) so no real idea if we are going to have issues or not. Just waiting for af to start probably tomorrow before new cycle.

@overwork really helpful to know you would have managed fine! I’m just scared I’ll ruin the holiday and dh feels like it would ruin his holiday knowing I’m feeling bad. To be fair he is the one who would have to put up with me whining about feeling sick and tired.

overwork · 18/08/2025 13:54

Ahh. Well maybe if you haven’t started trying yet you could delay.
You might not catch on in the next couple of months even if you do start trying now, some people do but as you’ll see from this group, others take months

givingitanothergo · 18/08/2025 15:43

Is anyone else waiting to ovulate? Or am I late to this thread? 😂
I think I’m CD9 or so, so ovulation is sometime this week/weekend I guess! Still planning to not use opks.. must resist but I used to get pretty hooked on doing them 2 or 3 times a day 😬

Does anyone believe there’s any theory/way to pick gender based on when you dtd or what positions? It’s all nonsense right?
We have 2 boys already and would be happy with either gender but obviously would love a girl

@Andrasa since you’ve only really started it is only a few months to wait so maybe wait?

SureLook · 18/08/2025 15:58

@Andrasa same as overwork, I would have been fine in my first trimester. Tired, but fine. If you've only started trying then maybe you could delay it if you want.

@givingitanothergo I feel like waiting to ovulate is the worst part, after the TWW of course. The old wives tale is if you want a girl you have sex further away from ovulation and if you want a boy you have sex closer to ovulation. That "worked" for us with my DD. We only managed sex once as DP was ill and it was at the start of the fertile week. But it's probably nonsense to be fair 😂

Hi all! Joining this thread - I am 28 and TTC #1. This is cycle #2 for us. Currently on CD8, and I normally ovulate very late (CD20-24) so still have a little way to go!🤗

EmPeEf · 18/08/2025 16:23

Andrasa · 18/08/2025 11:02

Someone please talk some sense into me. 😆 I have a once in a lifetime three week trip beginning of November in Asia that involves a lot of travelling (both the long flights there and also only staying in one city for two/three nights before getting a train somewhere else). There’s going to be a lot of walking and sightseeing. I also want to enjoy the food experiences - I don’t drink much anyway so that’s not a concern.

i know I should stop trying until October, so I don’t have to struggle with first trimester fatigue/nausea if I’m lucky enough to get pregnant. It’s only two months. And yet I’m so tempted to try anyway. A may/June baby is much better than a July/August one, I feel stuck waiting now as everything is ready and it’s a bit Groundhog Day with not a lot changing week on week, and it’s ruining my excitement for the holiday a bit since it feels more like a thing in the way to get through vs something I’m super looking forward to.

Personally I’d just get some anti sickness from the doctor to take with me if it were giving me problems. Otherwise I can’t see why a holiday like that wouldn’t work whilst pregnant.

Taysonic · 18/08/2025 16:49

@Andrasa I agree with the others - the only reason I'd have probably delayed TTC was if the planned trip was around an expected due date if I were to get pregnant where I know flying wouldn't be possible. I went on a belated honeymoon when I was pregnant in the first trimester. I was about 8-9 weeks pregnant I think when we went to Marrakech, and the trip included a few days of trekking in the Atlas Mountains. It was fine and exciting at the time.

I'd perhaps be a bit more cautious now after a couple of losses in quick succession in case anything were to go wrong but also, very unlikely to delay TTC as I don't think time is on my side.

BUT, ultimately - it's your call. If it's a big trip and you want to just focus on enjoying it to the max without worrying you're missing out on certain aspects or have any anxiety around it, then hold off for a few months.

SureLook · 18/08/2025 09:27

@MyPeppyLimeBear sorry to hear you weren't ovulating for so long but at least you know what's going on now. Hopefully the metformin will help things along.

@PeonyPatch did you have any symptoms of ovulation like EWCM around the time you DTD? I would say it's more important to have sex before ovulation so the sperm are, hopefully, sitting there waiting. But it only takes one so you're definitely in with a chance.

@Mash0917 ah, I'm so sorry to hear that. Those evaps are the worst!

@Taysonic I love that you have that phrase in your house and it's the boys job. That's brilliant. Getting your first period post loss is relieving cause it feels like things are settling again. I would plan a spa day, nothing better than a spa day. You deserve it!

@Iris2024 thanks for the kind words.

@EmPeEf I get that sometimes. Completely insatiable appetite 😂

What is EWCM?

Andrasa · 18/08/2025 18:10

Thanks everyone, it’s interesting to know you’d all risk it! I’ve got about ten days to decide I guess.

SureLook · 18/08/2025 18:31

@DaisyKG hello and welcome! Best of luck ❤️

@PeonyPatch EWCM stands for egg white cervical mucus. It's basically your most fertile discharge that helps the sperm get up there to the egg.

OP posts:
NiftySheep · 18/08/2025 18:43

Omg, I always thought EWCM was ‘ew cervical mucus’ 😂😂

SureLook · 18/08/2025 18:49

@NiftySheep close enough to be fair 😂😂😂

ThisZippyViewer · 18/08/2025 20:40

@Andrasa Have you looked into Zika advice for where you are travelling to in Asia? A lot of countries on the continent have the recommendation to wait 3 months after travel to TTC - may be worth looking into when you are making your decision 🙂

Ahh, I see!!!
Yes, I did have that but a few days before we dtd…
Hmm..
I think next month, I am going to suggest to DH that we basically dtd every two days after I finish my period to maximise chances. It’s difficult though as not always in the mood / busy / life / tired, lol.
I am going to keep going for another couple of months while I continue to take metformin and if nothing, I might book an appt with Gp to discuss seeing a fertility specialist.

TwinkleStarLight · 18/08/2025 20:50

What pregnancy vitamins do you all recommend? I took proceive conceive when TTC baby #1 and wondering if to go back to them or if there’s another brand people recommend? Currently taking Vit D, iron, folic acid and omega 3 so that might be enough? Wondering if I should include some CoQ10

BuzzBuzzMeow · 18/08/2025 21:03

Hey all, first time poster.
I'm 34, TTC #1, cycle #1, CD10 (usually ovulate between CD14-18). Both excited and nervous!
Thanks for sharing your stories and updates 😊

ttcnumerodos · 18/08/2025 22:28

Hi everyone, hope it's ok to join. TTC #2, had a chemical back in Feb. Just about to get my peak as LH rising, and of course DH is away with work til Fri 🙄 . What do we think the chances are of last Friday's swimmers still going strong tomorrow 😬

BlueLucy · 19/08/2025 07:05

@TwinkleStarLight I've been using Naitre. They're a bit spenny but they tend to send discount codes every 6 weeks or so even when you subscribe. I fell after being on them a month (had previously been on proceive for 4 months prior), but unfortunately lost it at 6+3. Can't say for certain they helped me conceive but I have continued them and now trying again from this month following polypectomy in July. Downside, although like a lot of them due to allergies, need to take omega 3 separate (for which I use proceive).

Mash0917 · 19/08/2025 07:31

@Taysonic I'm so sorry to hear about the ectopic, all the hugs and power to you! <3
@Iris2024 Thanks. It is. I can't help thinking if it is me. I have a pretty stressful job and I fear I am not giving my body the calm and happy state it needs for a baby.

That really made me laugh 🤣

Muddysocks1 · 19/08/2025 08:42

Hope everyone is doing ok ❤️ I’m a bit behind on the thread.

My ovulation seems to be getting earlier - usually CD14-15, last month it was CD13, this cycle it could be today which is CD12! Had positive OPK yesterday and today (and possibly CD10, looks almost as dark as control line?) so I’m assuming I’ll ovulate today if not tomorrow.
worried that my eggs aren’t maturing enough - a few months ago I had a scan the day of/before ovulation and biggest follicle was only 15mm which I think is on the small side. Got fertility appt soon so will ask what they think

@PeonyPatch that sounds like a good plan. I always have great intentions of every second day too but it's just so much effort 😂

@TwinkleStarLight I just take folic acid with vitamin D and omegas. I've also been wondering if I should add in CoQ10.

@BuzzBuzzMeow hello and welcome! Best of luck ✨️

@ttcnumerodos hello and welcome! Swimmers from Friday will probably be done by today cause it's maximum five days isn't it? But you never know, they're could be a super one in there 🤞🏻

@Muddysocks1 oh yes, it definitely looks like you're gonna ovulate today. Get down to it 😈 I'm not sure about the follicles being big enough. There's so much I don't know!
