Ttc after an hsg test

Hi, just as the title says really, had my hsg test this week, have read lots about increased chances of conceiving in the months after and the consultant said that it can "open everything up". Would obviously be lovely to have success but at the same time not getting my hopes up too much.

Anyone else in a similar position or have any experiences of ttc after hsg?

I got pregnant after having an HSG. I was given clomid to start taking when I next had a period and I was pregnant within 3-4 months. Good luck!

I have mine next week and I'm so afraid. I have heard it can help improve your chances but like you I'm not getting my hopes. I think of a hsg as remember as a child going on a slide that had dirt, anything sticky or weather beaten... It was slower to go down the slide bit when that slide got washed and cleaned you were able to go down super fast... That's how I'm looking at it.

I'm happy to share my experience if it helps.....
when I arrived, they needed a urine sample for a pregnancy test (so don't go to the loo before your appointment as I did!). Once that comes back negative, I had to sign forms to say we didnt dtd this cycle.
Got changed into a gown and went into the xray room, there were gynecologists there and xray technicians, all were very lovely.
Similar to a smear you need to put ankles together, drop legs to side and then the speculum is put in. Then something else is done around the cervix... not sure what but all of this was slightly uncomfortable but totally fine.
After that they put a catheter into the cervix, then release the dye, this part felt like really strong cramps, it was only a little sore, but honestly, i had just took a deep breath ready to deal with how it felt and it was over, so so fast, it was well under a minute for me.

So the whole thing was completely fine for me. It was uncomfortable, but I would get 10 more done if it helped me conceive. The consultant said that even if your tubes are clear, it can open everything up to help.

I had my HSG on cycle day 12 and tubes were not blocked which was great. We had sex day 12, 13 and 14. Cd 12 easy at home ovulation and clearblue pink ovulation test both not peak. On cd 13 about 11am I took both tests again and got a static smiley and on the easy at home was pretty dark. I was at a wedding and stayed the night in a hotel but unfortunately I'm forgot my ovulation tests so I couldn't take anymore tests until 9pm on cd 14. And when I took the easy at easy at home it was very dark it was Def a peak. Previously I tracked ovulation with ovusense and I only ever ovulated on day 13,14,16,17,18 or 19. This makes me feel I won't ovulate untill day 16 and I'm afraid this is not enough to get pregnant. My husband is now awake to the airport for work so I'm unable to have sex day 15 and 16

How was your ovulation test today?

Hi I got a positive ovulation test on cd 14 so hoping I ovulated day 14 or 15

After years of heartbreak TTC with no success I conceived the cycle after having HSG! The procedure itself isn’t too bad but the after effects were harder than I’d anticipated - I had to take a day off work sick which I’ve never had to do before so be prepared to perhaps need a day in bed the day after!

Sounds like you are well covered then with dtd @March2023CH. Hoping this tww will go in fast!

Period was due today.. it came 5pm and still didn't get it so really got my hopes up so was about to take a test and boom it came. I am gutted.

I'm really sorry to hear your period came, it"@ horrible when you get your hopes up. Hopefully this new cycle post hsg is the one for us both!
I am on cd3 so we will be similar timings this cycle

@Sunf10wer ,I really thought by getting the hsg so close to ovulation it would do the job. I usually get my period in the morning so when it was almost 5pm and still no sign I thought maybe this is it but then it came:(. It's nice we are both on same timing. Hope it's bfp for us both

I thought the same, although I had a weird cycle with not being well I still had my hopes up because of the hsg. We still have a great chance this cycle and next few though.
Are you trying anything dif this month? I am sticking to healthy eating, going to exercise more and I have doubled my dose if ubiquinol coq10. Also going to do SMEP

I'm taking everything I can think of.. folic acid, vitiam b, mnm, coq10, Naitre... This month is started taking mucinex before and during ovulation and baby aspirin after ovulation. I don't know what else to do. Im hoping to see my fertility specialist soon. I think my issue is I don't see any cervical mucus.
What is smep?

What is mnm? I'm thinking of the chocolate m&Ms 😂.
Did you find the mucinex made a difference this cycle to your cervical mucus? If you don't have alot you could try fertility lubrication like preseed?

Sperm meets egg plan is this:

Dtd every other day starting on the eighth day of your cycle until you get a positive OPK then you dtd 3 more days in a row, Skip a day and the dtd once more. It is alot, especially the 3 days in a row lol but it is meant to give you the best chance x

I seen nmn on tik tok it's meant to restore egg quality so I thought sure why not what's one more pill.... Yes I did notice cervical mucus when I took mucinex this month and I had never noticed it before so I'm definitely going to use it this month as I have never seen it before (well I did years ago) I use concieve plus gel too.

I’m going to be having a hsy and the fertility team have sent me the swab test to do as they need to check for chlamydia before the hsy. Do you mind if I ask how you do the test and do you then hand into your GP. Had my scan last week and I’m ovulating which is good but have fertility appointment on the 18th and want to make sure I get this test done lol

Hi.. I went to a private gynecologist and he done the swabs and booked the hsg in the hospital for me. When I got the hsg done the results were told to me on the day and also emailed the results to the gynaecologist. He has now referred me to a fertility specialist.

Aw that sounds amazing hun, the fertility team have sent me the tests to do myself and I’m lost lol 🤣

Oh god... Maybe contact your GP or a private doctor and ask if they can do it for you? Who is organising the HSG for you?

I’ve done them myself and I’ve just parked up ready for my fertility appointment so hopefully they will refer me for the HSY? I had my ultrasound done 2 weeks ago and they confirmed I’m ovulating and no issues so no further action. It’s horrible not knowing if it’s going to happen isn’t it.

How are you getting on? I am 2dpo now. I ovulated on cd12. This is my least favourite part... the tww @March2023CH

I come out feeling deflated. I don’t know why, think reality hit that this is a journey and it might not happen. She said my blood tests look fine for my age and mentioned would we consider private IVF as AMH is looking fine. . I cried driving home. We are on 4th cycle TTC this year but did try for 6 months beginning of 2024. Thank you for checking in with me. Are you okay?

I'm sorry you are feeling that way, especially when you should of came out feeling hopeful. Did they make a plan for next steps or anything?

It's positive that your tests are good but also tough to have nothing to fix.
I'm ok, also wondering that after so long, will I ever see a bfp again. Also still have that little hope, which I wish would go away because it makes each month with no success harder.
