Tips on how to not test before missed period

Laria19 · 18/02/2025 17:00

I tested early on my two pregnancies before and had two successful pregnancies then I had an early miscarriage and a chemical miscarriage last year and I was trying my hardest not to test early because of the heartbreak I experienced from the last two times. I’ve been trying this month and hoping I get a positive next month but I don’t know how I am going to stop myself from testing early, I worry so much after having the miscarriages anyone else finding it hard not to test so early x

All good with me thanks for asking 😊 @curliegirlie im so sorry you are going through such a hard time, I was in a bad space last year with the two miscarriages and felt like I was failing because I had two previous successful pregnancies. Do you think that stress is playing a part in your cycles being a bit up and downs? I also know what it feels like to learn other people are falling pregnant and you can’t. Here if you need to chat x

I've no idea if stress is a factor- I have a tendency to be slightly random anyway. I reckon it's just one of those things, or maybe peri approaching.

I'm usually ok with other people's pregnancy news, but that one stung a bit, especially when I'm probably going to go back on contraception if it's not happened by the end of the summer. I'm too old for all this shit and need to somehow make peace with it.

Laria19 · 30/04/2025 14:58

I’m sending you lots of baby dust don’t give up just yet 🙏

I was just thinking last night about how everybody from here was getting on!
@curliegirlie ugh I'm so sorry youre having to deal with so much and the sting of that pregnancy news.
If it helps, I found my cycles after my last mc were absolutely caos too. Hopeful for you that they settle into a semi normal rhythm soon so ttc is easier!
Do you think you may just not try instead of contraception in summer? Or Definitely contraception?
Ttc is such a hard journey

How is everybody else?
How are you managing @Laria19?

Laria19 · 30/04/2025 15:11

I’m doing well, finding it hard to hide my pregnancy in work as my belly is starting to show 🫣only one more week untill my 13 week app and I can relax and tell the world it’s so hard keeping it in 😅how are things on your end x @LaTable

I've got my 12 week which will be closer to 13 on Monday. Kids have been off school for Easter for two weeks (back on monday) so I've been just pretending nothing is happening and trying not to think about it. Pooping my pants though excepting the worst every evening.
I'm all bloat and no bump still. Even though I had a bump with my 2nd this early. I'm telling myself it's just because of the age gap 😣
Although my youngest told me yesterday I have a big belly... so maybe not working out so much has taken its toll more than I thought! Yay for bikinis and hot weather and honest kids 😅
Very excited for you being able to tell everybody!

Laria19 · 30/04/2025 17:26

My eldest was off for 2 weeks as well thank god she is back in crèche 😅Ah I’d say you have a little something ☺️Ye I’m excited I can finally let my belly be free 😂

Hahaha when I lay down there is absolutely nothing. Can't feel the fundus at all. It's absolutely all just me looking 5 months preggo already. Half my wardrobe for spring is out of action because I don't want everybody asking and me having to tell anybody yet 😂

Yours are much younger too, even more hard work! I don't envy you on that front!
Have your symptoms eased up at all?

Laria19 · 01/05/2025 07:19

Same 😩I’m stuck wearing light jumpers abs oversized t shirts. Ah ye I have a full schedule with my two 😂sure keeps me busy lol. Symptoms are still there but not overly bad, hoe about yourself x

LaTable · 01/05/2025 11:05

Everything went at about 8 and a half weeks. So that's helped me be able to pretend nothing is happening 🙃
Usual tiredness and insomnia so can't blame that on the littlest one!
I don't think I'm mentally prepped for the even more lack of sleep yet... my two were horrendous haha

EMC2022 · 01/05/2025 13:39

Hi All, glad to hear everything is going well @Laria19 and @LaTable.

@curliegirlie sorry to hear you are having such a hard time.

I'm going onto my third cycle since my CP (5th cycle overall) for TTC baby number 2. Still feeling sort of positive. The cycle after the CP was definitely the most disappointing, simply because my hormones were crazy and my cycle was like 40 days so I felt like I was waiting forever.

Taking it all a bit in our stride for now. I did always say I wanted a March or April baby so maybe my body is waiting to deliver the goods 😂

LaTable · 02/05/2025 10:11

@EMC2022 hahaha here is to hoping for that march or April baby! How old is you first again?
Cp and mcs sure do like to mess our cycles up eh!

@LucyLou0527 how is
everything going for you?

I can't tag anybody else for some reason. But hoping everybody is that one step closer to their rainbow

EMC2022 · 02/05/2025 10:20

@LaTable he is a very active 2.5yo. Keeps me well and truly on my toes!!

LaTable · 05/05/2025 16:24

Any bfp yet from anybody? Or even positive opks, I'll happily celebrate those too!

Chocolateeggsarebetterthannormalchocolate · 05/05/2025 16:47

First month of OPKs! Taking yesterday as peak as I think it's darker than today's....

How are you?

Tips on how to not test before missed period
LaTable · 05/05/2025 18:11

Absolutely agree! I've always read that you need to read the first positive as the peak. But I mean so long as you've done the dead you've covered the day after incase we read it wrong anyway!
Plus all those swimmers will be sat just waiting patiently for the race to begin 😉

Chocolateeggsarebetterthannormalchocolate · 05/05/2025 18:37

Did it Saturday and Sunday, hopefully that's enough... I was hangry today so killed the mood 🤣 there's always tomorrow to try and catch the eggs when it's on its way down (if that's a thing)! Yesterday's swimmers better be ready to catch it, or I think we'll have to take 3-4 months off!

LaTable · 09/05/2025 09:41

How is everybody today?
Feeling any better @cucurliegirlie ?

curliegirlie · 09/05/2025 11:20

Frustrated with OPKs tbh. I'm CD16 today and haven't had a conclusive surge yet (0.35 last night and this morning but most recent one was 0.23 again, so 🤷‍♀️ I guess I potentially may have peaked overnight...and now I've run out of bloody sticks!).

I just all feels a lot of pressure. After the last MC I had it in my head it wouldn't be instant, but would probably happen within the year (and then, obviously ended up carrying on for a further 2...). Now I feel like we've only got a few more months to make it happen, as I can just about live with the idea of being a new mum again at 43, 44 just feels silly and unwise. I hate the run up to ov day as I have it in my head we need to cover O and O-1 ideally, and without the OPKs playing ball it's impossible to know when to stop. I have Pregnacare Max supplements, which I've been taking, but keep worrying it might further screw up my cycle (although I've never had vits do that before, but everything is playing on my mind....)....sorry for the brain dump....

LaTable · 09/05/2025 11:34

Don't be silly, you do not have to apologise for brain dumping on us! That's what we are here for! Please dump away!

The stress I imagine and also being super busy mum of 2 doesn't help with all of it I bet.
Bummer about running out of opks!
I think you're on the right tracks with on ov and the day before, but tbh, even if you manage just once on peak or just the day before you're covered.
Are your peaks usually really fast to happen and go?
Or maybe it's a messed up cycle again and it's just rising and lowering but not peaking yet?

Also, I think 44 is a fine age to be having a baby so long as you feel well within yourself. There are at least 3 mothers in my kids school (which is tiny less than 150 kids) that all had babies in their late 40s

Laria19 · 09/05/2025 14:19

@LaTable I feel good how are you feeling 😊had my 3 month scan yesterday and everything looks great, I can breath a sigh of relief 😮‍💨 @curliegirlie so sorry you are having a hard time I’ve been there to after my two miscarriages, fingers crossed you will get what you wished for x

OP posts:
LaTable · 09/05/2025 21:23

@Laria19 so good to hear your 12 week scan went well! Are you telling everybody now?

I'm fine thanks, keep flicking through my 12w scans and having mini meltdown moments because I think it's another bloody girl 😅 time will tell I suppose.

LaTable · 14/05/2025 13:48

@curliegirlie did you end up finally getting a positive opk with the new ordered ones?

@Chocolateeggsarebetterthannormalchocolate @LucyLou0527 any luck on the tests?

LaTable · 14/05/2025 13:49

@EMC2022 would also love to hear any updates from you too!
