It may just be my computer ( no broad band in the sticks!)but the other thread was taking a long while to load and accept new messages so maybe we can start again here...

I am confused! Am on day 9 of my cycle and appear to be getting the slippery, clear mucus that you are supposed to get when ovulating. Given that my last cycle was 36 days and the previous one 34 days, its all rather odd....

buttercup · 25/03/2003 11:53

flick - that sometimes used to happen to me. you'll probably find it passes quite quickly and is not the REAL thing.

Flick · 25/03/2003 12:01

Thanks - its very confusing...particularly when the books you read all seem to cover the regular 28 day cycle when you ovulate on day 14. How many women are that normal, particularly after having a baby?

dot1 · 25/03/2003 12:42

Hi Flick,

My cycles are slightly shorter than yours (between 28 - 31 days), but I also get the mucus early in my cycle - usually between days 9 - 12. Are you monitoring your temperature aswell? That might help indicate whether the mucus means you're about to ovulate/ovulating. I read somewhere (although if you read enough on all this it all seems to contradict itself...) that the mucus signifies you're about to ovulate in the next 2 - 3 days.

Sorry not to be much help...

Flick · 25/03/2003 15:23

Thanks - I think maybe that I am reading too much and that I need to relax about it all. Soooo broody right now!!

dot1 · 26/03/2003 11:30

Elliot - any news yet..?

I'm miserable as I tested yesterday (day 9/10) and got a negative. I was hopeful this month as I've been feeling really tired and had a dizzy spell the other day and seem to have lost my appetite - feeling quite nauseous. But, I think this is probably down to increasing my Metformin, not because I'm pregnant.

So, I'm not going to test again, but will wait and see what my temperature does. It's still high, but it's only day 26 in my cycle...

Jane101 · 26/03/2003 20:10

Bayleaf, you are so right. I'm now at the stage of being not convinced by a trickle. Actually I have pretty much accepted it now, and I'm so relieved not to be in limboland anymore that I'm feeling quite cheerful about it really.

I'm sorry your timings are being awkward. It's so frustrating when you just seem to face obstacle after obstacle isn't it?

bayleaf · 26/03/2003 20:12

Fingers crossed dot - even I think it's probably too early to test at the moment!
Feeling a bit down today as was my birthday yesterday which had unfortunate combination of reminding me that I'm getting less fertile and 3 people dropping me a line in their cards to tell me that they're pregnant. Hey ho.....
On the slightly more positive note my period has finally started so can start the down reg process again....

Oh Bayleaf - happy birthday anyway.... know exactly how you feel as it was my birthday a month ago - the day I inseminated on the last go! Also, everyone I know in the world (including someone about 13 years younger than me)is pregnant/has just given birth - still makes me grumpy hearing about people who got pregnant by accident/the first time they tried/etc.etc... (I'm not very good at being entirely happy for other people..!).

I'm avoiding testing again - if only because I don't want to be disappointed. My temperature's still high, but I'm going to try and hold out until Monday (if I get there) before I test again. That'll be Day 31...

bayleaf · 27/03/2003 18:53

elliott any news? Isn't today day 14?

Dot - if your temp is still high then the negative means nothing - as long as it stays up there it 's looking more and more positive!!! How many days since ov has it been rasied for now? Mine always dropped a couple of days before a period so if it stays high over the weekend I'd be feeling very optimistic....

Jane - it is so good to have people to 'talk ' to on here with parralel ( sp???) experiences, I felt just as you did - so relieved to finally know 100% instead of 99% that I was fine about it - until I then got a virus which made me feel so cr*p physically that there was no hope of staying cheerful.
I'm happier today tho' - just about got over all my friends' fecundity !

OP posts:
elliott · 27/03/2003 19:33

well, I did actually crack and do a test on Tuesday, but wanted to wait till the blood test before I posted, because.....it's positive!!

I had been feeling more optimistic since my cramping stopped quite suddenly and it occurred to me that it might have been implantation, but I just didn't want to let my hopes get too high...

I still can't quite believe it, and I'm now at that stage where you keep thinking its all going to be snatched away from you....just another two months to get through before I can relax....

bayleaf (happy birthday, btw, though understand the mixed feelings), jane, dot1 - thanks so much for your thoughts, and I really really hope your turns come very soon....

bayleaf · 27/03/2003 20:37

OH how wonderful elliott???? You must feel like the luckiest person on earth and soooo happy- to get a + first try both times is very very rare from my trawling thru the ivf boards ( even amongst icsi people) WELL DONE!!!!!!

elliott · 27/03/2003 22:30

Am joining this thread as a newcomer in the hope that the vibes will bring a successful result this month!! Fourth month of trying and we are gallantly attempting to 'practice' every night! DS is 7 months and cycles are still long and irregular but am feeling very broody. Anyone conceive so soon or sooner after the birth of their first? Stopped breastfeeding at the end of Dec.
