@Tally89 really sorry, never been through this before although I do have friends who had bleeding in early pregnancy and ended up with healthy babies, but I don't know if that was a bit further along?

Can't give any advice but just wanted to reply as I'd be so confused and frustrated in your situation! All of this is hard enough without our bodies doing extra weird shit

Thanks for replying lovely! appreciate it. Weirdly I actually feel OK about it, but yeh it's a v strange situation. It's also now turning into a longer period than normal for me and a bit heavier so I'll keep testing and hopefully the line fades off (I know it seems wild to wish for this but if not then I'd worry about an ectopic) and I can chalk it to a chemical and just keep on trying. The early pregnancy unit in margate were very not bothered and said they wouldn't even scan me til I was '6 weeks', which, if you have an ectopic feels like too long to wait.

Hey everyone. Help please. So the strangest thing has happened. My period started bang on time on Tuesday, but I had a bit of a pulling pain that was a bit odd the day before. Today, just on a whim, I took a pregnancy test and it came back as a faint positive. I've called the early pregnancy unit and they say to wait a week and take another test to see. It's either a chemical or an ectopic (altho it doesn't feel like that as I've had one before). I'm fairly certain I can't be having this much bleeding like a normal period and be actually pregnant... right? Has anyone else been through this before?

They're supposed to give you progesterone if you're bleeding and have a positive test! Please please demand it from them. The guidance changed in 2021 but so many aren't aware!

Wisher88 · 10/01/2025 07:50

In my first pregnancy I had my chemical/early MC at 4wks ,3ds which is tomorrow for me. So I feel like I'll be on edge until I get past that date.

Those with BFP, how many weeks until you'll relax?
I'm planning on having a private scan at about 7wks to see if there's a heartbeat, and if there is then it'll feel more real for me.

they only give progesterone once they know it’s in the uterus and not ectopic.
If the test is still positive next week they should scan and then prescribe it but they can’t give it before then.
Hopefully what you think maybe period is implantation 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hey lovely! I wanted to share my experience of my early MC in December... my period was a week late (which made me 5 weeks and tipped me over from a chemical to a MC). I'd gotten faint positives beforehand but I knew something was off as there was some progression but not much. My period was heavier than normal and lasted 2 days longer so I took that as it. But then 3 days later I started light bleeding again and so I took a test to check and it was an even stronger positive (over a week after the bleeding started). So I went and got checked out and had a scan and they confirmed a complete MC and told me to take another test in a week to be sure there wasn't a pregnancy of unknown location. I did take a test after a week and was still positive but was fainter, however took another week to turn completely negative (literally a few days ago). The light bleeding that restarted carried on for over a week and I actually ovulated whilst still bleeding and whilst testing positive. So it was a super confusing time for me! So I completely understand how you might be feeling.

I think the advice they've given you is probably right and whilst I hope this is a good outcome for you it does sound very similar to my experience. Your body can just hold on to HCG a bit longer sometimes I think. I've had 2 early MCs and a few chemicals across both times TTC and my tests have never taken than long to go back negative before.

Sending hugs and solidarity! Xx

Morning ladies, making the jump to join but still trying to not get my hopes up too much...!
Think I'm around 8dpo this cycle. Traumatic MMC at around 9 weeks in Nov, and a likely chemical last cycle. Cruel!
Desperately wanting a happy healthy pregnancy this cycle... we shall see. Having lots of crampy pulling twinges like last time, and super vivid dreams which I had last time too... could be a cruel trick!
Good luck all and hope everyone is feeling ok (and not too cold this morning!!).

Seems ridiculous then that they won't just scan and have a look. Can you get a private scan just to see the position?

Top one is from today. When I first did it I wasn't sure if it was any darker but the photo looks stronger I think?
I feel like with my daughter around this time it was super super dark so feeling a bit paranoid.

Just counting down the days until about 7wks when I'll get a private scan.

nothing tends to be seen before 6 weeks, i think even private companies won’t scan before 6 weeks? but maybe some do

Not sure if I ovulated this month or just missed peak when testing? Either way today is the start of the TTW 😬

Good luck! I'm sorry to hear you have had such a rough time. I had a MMC in June

7dpo today so I feel like I’m over the first week hurdle 😅 also had a dream last night that I had a positive FRER 🤞

Omg same!!! Then I got a digital test a week later and it read 3-4 weeks! Really hope our dreams come true 🤞

I had loads of milky discharge yesterday which can be a sign of implantation. I had this with my daughter, very watery discharge then a gush of milky discharge for a day then back to watery and that seems to be what’s happening now so trying not to get excited as body could be playing tricks after last months CP. My back has also started to hurt a bit but I do get that in the lead up to AF sometimes so still a guessing game for me. I had a big overwhelming feeling of nausea this morning whilst playing with my daughter, I was physically sick on the day that she must have implanted so again another good sign that I also didn’t have last month with the CP but I know I’m just driving myself mad with this symptom spotting 🙈

Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your story @MummyV2021 . So sorry to hear about your MC. I had one in June so I can empathise. The TTC is rough and we're all so strong honestly.

And yes, I did a test this morning and it's much lighter so I think this is most likely a chemical, but interestingly I've had the same as you with my period being longer than usual. Normally it stops after 3 days but I'm on day 5 now and still bleeding a bit.

@Wisher88 @Lavenderrose92 thank you both for coming back too. The nurse definitely seemed to think it's an ectopic or miscarriage, the likelihood of this being successful pregnancy in the end is unlikely, as I also didn't miss my period.

SarahB88 · 10/01/2025 10:43

@Tally89 I had a CP last month, the same time that @MummyV2021 was having her MC ☹️ I also found that my period lasted longer with the CP and was much heavier. I was advised to only test again a week after the bleeding had totally stopped, if I even had a faint positive I was to call triage again and they’d get me in for a scan. Thankfully (strange to say that) my test came up negative. I didn’t test at all whilst bleeding other than a test when I started spotting, I still had a faint line but digital test came back with negative. I hope you get some clarity soon x

I feel very energetic today and to be honest yesterday too. Has anyone else experienced this in early pregnancy? With my daughter I remember being fatigued but that might not have been til later?

I have felt exhausted with all my other pregnancies but not too bad so far but only 12dpo (period was due today) I also see your tests above. I have those tests and have seen progression from 8dpo but they are not super dark. I got a good line on a clear blue today though. Have you missed your period or still testing early? It's hard to keep track on here sometimes.

If we have an early scan we would plan for around 8 weeks. My first pregnancy was a mmc at my 12 week scan but baby had stopped growing just after 6 weeks. The research we did suggested a scan at 8 weeks with a heartbeat there was a very good success rate

Wisher88 · 10/01/2025 21:19

I'm unsure my dpo as I never tested.

My previous cycle was 30 days, but usually it's about 28, so it's hard to say. Today would have been day 30 of my cycle. I don't think I ovulated until day 17. We didn't DTD until evenings of 15&16. So l think today is probably 13dpo possibly only 12dpo?!

Lou98x · 10/01/2025 23:49

Hi everyone - I was in this thread early on but had to dip out as was getting very emotional at everyone’s stories/announcements etc. around Christmas! Back now, CD31, 11DPO and expecting AF on Monday. Had some v light pink spotting today when I’ve wiped which is unusual for pre-AF, but did have this when I was pregnant with DS….

Trying to not get my hopes up, and still trying to resist testing until Monday!

Still sending you all baby dust and hope for more BFP to come! Happy to see many have had theirs already!

I would say 12/13dpo is still pretty early (same as me) 36 day cycle here ovulated cd24. I had a friend who much have ovulated late and she didn't get her positive until after her missed period.

The easy at home tests all look fairly faint on amazon reviews I looked as mine have progressed but still lighter than some other tests but that does seem normal foe them

ThisHangryTiger · 11/01/2025 07:16

9DPO and did a 6 day early test as AF is either due tomorrow based on 28 days or Wed based on 31. Absolutely blank 😔 suppose there's still a tiny chance but not looking likely. Will have to wait and see.

Yeah that's probably true thank you that's very reassuring.

I just did another FRER and it's so much stronger than Tuesday (also featuring my very jazzy pyjamas)
