Strong positive 6dpo

Looking for any help or advice! We were unsuccessful trying to conceive last month, negative tests up until the day my period arrived on time. I believe I ovulated on Wednesday 11th Sept- we did not have any intercourse before this date.
On Tuesday 17th Sept I had light spotting so out of curiosity took a pregnancy test even though I didn’t think I’d see anything and was shocked to see such strong positives! I did multiple tests on 3 different brands and all were the same. I was definitely only 6dpo (or Less!) so what is going on here? I’m so confused why it’s so strong. Anything I’ve found online of peoples positive tests at 6dpo are extremely faint and even then responses say it wouldn’t be this strong so I’m starting to panic something is very wrong. Has anyone been in the same boat?

Either you conceived last month, which would make you 7 - 8 weeks pregnant now, or you've got a multiple pregnancy.

Happyapplehoney · 19/09/2024 13:25

Thanks @TheShellBeach All my pregnancy tests last month were negative and then I had a heavy 4-5 day period so I really don’t think I was pregnant from last month. When I’ve researched multiples it still largely says you wouldn’t necessarily get such a strong line so early so I’m just confused! I’ve ordered the digital tests that give you how many weeks so will see what that says

Oh wow I'm following to see how this works out for you! How exciting Smile

TheShellBeach · 19/09/2024 13:31

An ultrasound will give you the answer in a couple of weeks.

Is this your first pregnancy?

Olika · 19/09/2024 13:36

Those are super strong for being so early days. Maybe you implanted on Tuesday when you had spotting and it shows already. Definitely do a digital to see which week it gives you. 🤩

Happyapplehoney · 19/09/2024 13:47

The digital arrives later today so hopefully that will give a bit more info. It’s my second pregnancy, we have only been trying a few months although I did have a chemical pregnancy the month before last. I’m worried as have read high hcg could mean a molar pregnancy…. If the weeks are high on this digital it could mean my levels are just super high rather than the correct number of weeks? Think I’ll also give the doctor a call tomorrow just to discuss! Hoping someone on here may have had a similar experience and all was okay 🙏🏼 Thanks all for your comments

@Happyapplehoney
I hope all goes ok. I had a positive test 8dpo was strong throughout ended up being a blighted ovum. That was in April and I'm currently 3dpo trying again it's such a symptom checking time isn't it 🙈

Happyapplehoney · 19/09/2024 14:18

Thanks @Itonlytakesone How long was it until you found out about the blighted ovum? Sorry that happened to you!

OP posts:
TheShellBeach · 19/09/2024 14:21

Actually, yes - I was going to suggest molar pregnancy as another differential.

I really hope that isn't the case @Happyapplehoney

imSatanhonest · 19/09/2024 15:00

I'd say you got pregnant last month and your last 'period' must have been an implantation bleed (?)

As an aside, my DD is pregnant with twins, she had 2 really faint positives, then a negative digital, then a positive digital 3 days later. So I don't think the dark lines are always indicative of a multiple pregnancy, just that you're further along than you thought.

Happyapplehoney · 19/09/2024 15:49

Thanks @imSatanhonest , It would be great if this is the case! I did have a heavy 4-5 days of bleeding which I don’t think is right for implantation bleeding though? I also had a LH surge on ovulation strip the day we started trying with some ovulation like pains on my left side .. just all so confusing! Wish this digital test would hurry up and arrive!

I had booked a private scan at 6w 4days I was so excited in the whole run up to this and was so crushed when they found nothing. So a few scans at epu to confirm then a d&c at just over 9 weeks. Took a few months off ttc after it all but back to it this month.

I really don't know now about implantation bleeding but did think it was supposed to be light. I'm just flummoxed at the dark lines at 6DPO - but wish you all the best!

Happyapplehoney · 19/09/2024 18:06

@Itonlytakesone ah sorry that all sounds terrible, hope you’re doing okay now and you get some good news soon! I’ll definitely be booking an early scan as something doesn’t seem right

So I’ve done the digital test and it says 2-3 weeks (the packaging says this reading is from the date you conceived) so something definitely not quite right as I ovulated last Wednesday! (I’m 99% sure of it!) my husband and I didn’t have sex between the last ovulation window and this one so again just doesn’t add up. Will call the doctor in the morning and get some advice.

If I'm right in saying this means you're 4/5 weeks pregnant? So maybe your last period was implantation bleeding xxx

Bb542 · 19/09/2024 18:16

Definitely contact your doctor. Is it possible that last month's period could've been implantation bleeding?

Olika · 19/09/2024 18:21

Well either something is wrong or you had periods when already pregnant. Def a good idea to speak with your GP.

Lul00 · 19/09/2024 19:01

My test was super strong with my twins. I also knew I should have been less weeks pregnant than what the clear blue test told me. It goes off HCG levels which are obviously higher in a multiple pregnancy so the test picks it up as being further along than you are. I had spotting as well so texted my husband saying it wasn't to be this month as I thought it was my period!

Happyapplehoney · 19/09/2024 20:21

I really don’t think it was implantation bleeding a few weeks back. I tested negative right up until the day my period arrived and it was as my normal periods- heavy and lasted 4-5 days. If I had gotten pregnant last time I would now be 5 weeks since ovulation so the digital one should say +3 weeks? It’s all very confusing! I suspect the spotting I had at 6dpo two days ago may well have been implantation but just doesn’t explain why my HCG is so high. Hopefully the doctor can give some advice tomorrow. @Lul00 did you test early when you had a strong positive? Everything I’ve looked up says multiples still wouldn’t give a strong positive this early on. I’m now 8dpo and still have a super dark line showing on the standard pregnancy test plus the digital saying 2-3 weeks. Will keep updating once I have spoken with the doctor.

Good luck with the Gp I hope you get some answers. So frustrating especially as it's too early to scan but good news on a positive test

If the OP conceived in her last cycle, it wouldn't be too early to scan.

Happyapplehoney · 20/09/2024 11:40

Spoke to the doctor this morning and she said I just need to wait for now to see what happens as too early for testing but need to call back in a few weeks and can be referred to the early pregnancy unit for a blood test and scan so will keep you updated. Doctor agreed with the information I gave her that it is unusual to have such high hcg at this stage and doesn’t think I’m pregnant from last month but just need to wait it out for now.

OP posts:
TheShellBeach · 20/09/2024 12:01

I had a feeling the doctor would say that. Realistically, you'll have to wait and see what happens.

It's a bit frustrating for you though @Happyapplehoney because obviously you'd like to know what's going on.

I'm really interested to know the outcome. It's a pity scans can't be done so soon!

whateveryouwantmetosay · 20/09/2024 15:08

Could the bleeding last month have been a twin miscarriage? It would make sense why you are getting positive tests now. Digitals are not reliable with the weeks so possible that you are 6-7 weeks.
