Hi ladies!
CD 1 for me today, so I’m moving over from the July thread and starting this one (don’t think there is already one).
Anyone else now ttc for a BFP in August??

Hi @Bellabubble I think this is one surge, it's common for LH surges to last a couple of days. Mine on the other hand are very quick so sometimes I miss them!

Hi @ttcjourney20001 most women who have periods ovulate once a month, that is when an egg is released from the ovaries. If when the egg is released there is sperm waiting then there is a chance of getting pregnant. That's why the best time to have sex is 1-2 days before ovulation, but you have a chance up to 5 days before and up to a day after ovulation.

If you ovulated on the 9th you would now be 3dpo. Ovulation tests will not be positive after ovulation because, as @Cakeisafoodgroup says, they test luteinising hormone (LH) which peaks 1-2 days before you ovulate. You can generally take pregnancy tests from 10dpo, with most reliable results from 12dpo. Hope that all makes sense!

@MrsKurz I feel like I have had every pregnancy symptom under the sun since starting to TTC. 7dpo tends to be the worst for me to symptom spot. Hang in there, the next few days will be torture but you'll know soon enough 😅

CoolSummer89 · 12/08/2024 21:47

My cycles have been (with one exception) 27 days clockwork since starting TTC but today I noticed some symptoms which mean that I am probably going to ovulate two days early. Silver lining is that we were busy the two days before ovulation so gives us more of a chance, hopefully 🌝

KGeeGee · 12/08/2024 21:47

7dpo today and I suspect teetering on the edge of symptom spotting. Trying to remember how I normally feel before my period but tbh literally the only things are I get v grumpy/tearful/emotional the day before. Oh, and also 'The Headache', which usually means AF will arrive in 0-2 days. Never normally notice anything else so you can guarantee anything at all I'll be like 🤔 ooh maybe!... 😂

I’m 7DPO too! I feel like this is the worst time as it’s too early to test really, but it’s been going on a while too.. I feel you. I’m going to try to hang on until 10/11 dpo to test. To be fair in my last pregnancy I felt TOTALLY normal that cycle and didn’t expect to be pregnant at all 😂 I tested at 12 DPO.

Zo85 · 12/08/2024 21:56

Ah I really, really want to hold out with no testing unless I miss a period. But do I also want to get excited for a pregnancy that doesn’t even exist and risk being even more disappointed when I’m not pregnant after more days of symptom spotting?! I’m so torn.

What does everyone else do and what is your reasoning for your decision?

km9371 · 12/08/2024 22:09

@Zo85 it's hard! I test before missed AF, but it doesn't make much difference to being excited and hopeful for a pregnancy as i continue thinking i could get a positive until AF comes.

This cycle I tested on what I think was 10dpo and got a faint positive. I've still felt anxious / kept testing / don't quite believe it yet because the lines are so faint.

I've no idea what's best!

I think I'm going to wait for a missed period as I've just seen the price of pregnancy tests in tesco #howmuch?!

AF has arrived right on time 😭
Good luck to everyone still waiting ❤️

14 DPO today. Tested this morning, BFN. No signs/symptoms of AF yet other than the normal sore boobs. I am 5 days late today. My ovulation was also around 5 days later than usual - could this explain why AF is delayed? Is it normal to ovulate later in a cycle or should it usually be around the same day? This is my first cycle I haven’t been 29 days in months.

I think it is fairly normal for many women. Have you recently started taking any new vitamins or supplements, this may delay the cycle a bit? I always get longer cycles when I travel that month (flights, time difference, general tiredness). I don't think there is a reason to worry unless it starts going really long or you have other symptoms then it is worth checking out. I once had a long unexplained cycle, but blood tests confirmed all is fine.

Blue2020 · 13/08/2024 07:40

@ScarlettSloth yes ovulation is usually the reason for AF being late. The luteal phase for most people is a set length, it’s the ovulation that’s usually delayed and in turn AF delayed (or doesn’t appear if bfp).

One cycle mine was 6 days late. I had a sore throat at the start of that cycle (swollen lymph nodes or tonsils in my neck) and that’s the only thing I can think of why ovulation might have been late. It might have happened regardless of the sore throat.

rebecca199 · 13/08/2024 08:35

Think I'm still within a chance this month even though we DTD a day later than ideal, as my temp has only just gone up today 4 days after positive LH so maybe it wasn't quite peak/I ovulated a couple of days after peak!

lv565 · 13/08/2024 08:37

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all doing ok. Congrats to those who have BFP ☺️

I’m on cycle day 8 today, this is only my 2nd cycle ttc - this is the first month I’m using ovulation tests. Last month my BBT graph looked a little different to normal so I wasn’t sure when I ovulated exactly. This month I’m trying to gather more info to get a better idea. I’m going to start testing later this week, just so I definitely don’t miss the LH surge.

Blue2020 · 13/08/2024 10:06

@lv565 if you are using the cheap ovulation tests- eg easy at home - when you think you are near your window (or if you have lots of tests and you don’t mind) then test twice a day. It helps have a better chance of catching the peak, or catching it earlier if you happen to have a longer peak that stays for a while.

ScarlettSloth · 13/08/2024 10:14

@lavafield @Blue2020 thanks for the responses….
I started taking CoQ10 2 months ago but it didn’t impact my previous cycle… I did have two trips this month and have had a change in sleep routine so that could also be it! Part of me still wants to hold on to some hope as I know you’re not out till AF arrives but seeing a negative is so heartbreaking. Just hoping AF arrives soon and I can start a new cycle asap x

lv565 · 13/08/2024 10:17

@Blue2020 thank you, that’s really helpful. I think I’ll start testing early in this cycle, just so I can see what’s happening when. I’ll test 2x per day too!

I did test last month, but only from day 15, and only once per day. All the tests were negative. My app was expecting my to ovulate on day 18, but then changed it’s mind and said it was day 16! Hence me trying to narrow things down this month.

Janedoe3 · 13/08/2024 10:27

my cycle used to be irregular and extra long but I started taking prenatal procieve supplements 3 months ago which helped regulate my cycle.. so the past 3 months my cycle has been on average 35 days which is great for tracking and ttc.

my menstrual period always lasts 5 days

keeping this information in mind, here’s my query..

  • my last period was July 4th to 8th
  • I had unprotected on July 10th
  • Had light pink /light red spotting on July 14th
  • Had nausea July 15th
  • according to Flo app: July 19th Ovulation started
  • Had mild abdominal pain and cramps July 22nd
  • Had spotting again on July 26th
  • Had unprotected again on July 29th
  • Spotted light pink on tissue the next day on July 30th
  • Spotted this creamy light brown/pink discharge in my underwear next day on July 31st and took a picture (won’t post it but if someone who has been pregnant before could message me to confirm if it could be an early sign.. that would be kind of you)
  • according to Flo app: 1st August Ovulation ended
  • Had unprotected again on August 6th
  • Spotted light red blood on tissue twice today & also having weird stomach feeling (not pain) which is August 9th
  • Spotted light red/pink blood in tissue and had mild cramps in the left side of my lower stomach on August 10th
  • spotted light pink/red again in August 11th
  • spotted light pink/red only on tissue on August 12th (yesterday)

i am still taking my proceive prenatal conception tablets

so, the Flo app told me I’m due for my period yesterday on Monday July 12th and there’s also a message on the app that says -spotting at this stage in your cycle could be a sign of implantation bleeding ..
& no period came yesterday even though my cycle has been consistent

new update: now it’s Tuesday July 13th , the day after my period due and my period is still not here and experiencing zero period symptoms to indicate it is coming

i haven’t gone for my first morning pee yet so I’m going to go to boots and get a few tests .. any insights would be appreciated

km9371 · 13/08/2024 10:45

I am still getting faint lines but they havnt progressed and its day 4 now 😢 im not sure what this means and just feel anxious.

km9371 · 13/08/2024 11:07

@Janedoe3 how was your pregnancy test looking today?

Rockchk31 · 13/08/2024 11:36

Hoping this month brings good news to you all! I have a question that someone may be able to answer for me…came off the mini pill 16th July….still haven’t had a bleed but been tracking ovulation…I had a peak on CD 15 - I counted the first day off pill as CD1. I did an ovulation test yesterday as no idea on cycles and it was high and Today I took an ovulation test and it was super dark and higher….does this mean I’m ovulating now at CD 29…I’m super confused and surprised at no bleed still. I’m bloated the last two days and having cramps but cramps have been on and off since I came off the pill.

TinkRose · 13/08/2024 11:41

Hi - hope it’s okay for me to join! I’d love to say how many DPO I am but I really don’t have a clue, I have irregular cycles and am currently on cycle day 40. Had some pink CM the past couple of days coupled with a very intense cramp across my entire lower abdomen which I thought was a sure sign of AF being here but nothing yet. Wondering if that was implantation (but also aware I’m probably grasping at straws). Been trying for nearly 2 years now, had a miscarriage earlier this year so grasping at straws is my default setting!

Blue2020 · 13/08/2024 11:41

@lv565 good luck. Also if you are really unsure about ovulation then just keep testing after the apps have said you have ovulated (if you haven’t had a peak/positive). If you tend to have a fixed length cycle then hopefully your ovulation will be more predictable going forward.

I didn’t know until I tracked that I had 31/32 day cycles and ovulated on cd17/18. Or that on very rare occasions I will ovulate late and that in turn makes AF late. It’s interesting.

Blue2020 · 13/08/2024 11:50

@Rockchk31 are you trying to conceive this month? My options below assume you have DTD at some point between cd10-16 otherwise ignore the pregnancy bit.

cd15 would be july30th, assuming that first peak you ovulated the day after 31st. Then you would now be 13dpo. It’s one of three things 1) AF will appear in the next day or so (assuming you have a 13/14 day luteal phase-who knows). 2) You could be pregnant, I think 13dpo might pick it up if you use a sensitive test eg first response. 3) that first peak didn’t ovulate and you are ovulating now.

I wouldn’t be able to say which unfortunately. I use bbt to confirm ovulation happened after the peak. Also takes away this unknown. Could be something to look in to for your next cycle?

CoolSummer89 · 13/08/2024 12:24

Hi @Janedoe3 ovulation only lasts one day, so it can’t last 12 days as you say that Flo suggests. If your periods aren’t regular Flo might say that this could be your fertile window, but in reality a woman’s fertile window is the 3-4 days before ovulation. I don’t use Flo, so I’m not sure what terminology they use.

were you using any ovulation predictor kits/BBT to confirm ovulation?

as it has been some time before your last period, the only way to be sure is taking a pregnancy test at this point. Best of luck.
