Hi ladies.

It's my third month trying to get pregnant. I'm 39 years old, my partner is 40, and I've never been pregnant before. I'm dpo11 and starting to get nervous.

Is there anybody else in a similar situation? I'm just trying to find somebody who's going through this as well.

Good luck to all of you.

Hi @Rain11 I am 42, my OH is 44 and we are trying for our first. This process has not been kind to me so far. We started and Xmas, I had a normal period mid Dec, a 1 day period in the new year and then nothing until 11th April. I didn't track as I thought I would do the first month au naturel!! It was so frustrating as it turned into 101 day cycle with all the pregnancy symptoms going and negative tests

Anyway, I started tracking after this period and then CD 19 I got tonsillitis so stopped tracking. I am now on CD68, negative tests (last one was 6th June) and cramping. I feel the same cramping as last cycle. I have a feeling I'm not ovulating 😔

If you are having regular periods fingers crossed you don't have too many issues. Are you waiting to miss your period before testing? I wish you all the luck and baby dust to you x x

Hey Becky. I tested negative today. I know it's early (11dpo). I'm due on Friday according to the Flo app.I was feeling impatient, and my partner encouraged me to do it. I'm a bit disappointed that it was negative, but I'm not losing hope. Luckily, my periods are regular, so I'm trying my best to stay positive. Have you ever used ovulation tests? How about tracking your basal body temperature? I'm very new to I've recently started to read about how to properly track everything to be more effective, and it's quite overwhelming, there's a lot of info. If you aren't sure if you are ovulating, it might be a good idea to get some of these ovulation tests. Thanks so much for replying and good luck xx

Hey @Rain11 , yes 11DPO is still early. There's still time.

Yes. I started tracking BBT at the end of Feb and it has been all over the place. I have been tracking every day since but stopped a couple of weeks ago as it was getting frustrating not seeing it rise or fall that much.

Again, I have been using OPKs but when I got ill with tonsillitis I stopped.

I've had my hormones checked and the Dr said they are all fine. I've been referred to the fertility clinic but but heard anything. We have said that once I have my next period we will have the private tests done, ultrasound, AMH, sperm analysis etc. So we will see what happens.

It is so weird as my periods have been a little irregular over rhe past few years but not going so long without a period. I do think it is the start of peri 😢

LoulouM12 · 18/06/2024 09:51

Hi @Rain11 I am 39 and just got my BFP two days ago at 14DPO... I have a daughter who's 18 months already. Been trying for no. 2 since Feb, CP last month, and strong positive this month... Early days tho. It does happen! I doubt mine would have shown at 11DPO so hang on a few more days...

I track ovulation (have tried many different brands but settled on Easy@Home and the PreMom app myself) and BBT, and threw myself into learning about it all. Any Qs please feel free to msg me, as there's a LOT of info! Best of luck and baby dust to you x

PennyPencils · 18/06/2024 12:16

Hi I'm 40 and TTC #3. Have an 18 yo and an 18 month old.
Partner is 39. We are on cycle 1 so would be a miracle as we tried for 2 years before getting pregnant with the last DD.
I hope this time it's quicker as that was agonising. I've tracked ovulation with the tests and BBT straight away this time. I'm on a mission!!
Oh and I'm 9dpo. Tested today and nothing in sight yet...

Joleyjojo · 18/06/2024 12:20

me, I am 39 BMI of 31 😭. We had a chemical pregnancy 1 week ago and waiting to ovulate again.
I have had to stop googling because from that we have no chance.
I am really starting to panic and the CP has hit me emotionally really bad because I keep thinking it was my last chance.
nice to hear there is a few of us. CD7 praying it happens again quickly .
sending us all lots of baby dust x

Rain11 · 18/06/2024 17:14

Thanks for sharing your experiences, ladies. I must confess I feel less alone now. I have just bought the easy home ovulation tests, just in case this isn't my month, I'm not feeling any weird symptoms, so it might not be... I'm planning on waiting a few more days. I'll try again over the weekend if I don't get my period. I'll start tracking my ovulation. So far, I've only been using Flo, but I've read it's not very accurate. Do any of you use any apps? Good luck, everyone!! Please keep me posted, I'm excited for all of us xx

Hi yes, I use flo for a general glance too but then fertility friend for charting bbt, ovulation test strip results and any other symptoms if I feel I'd like to see back how I was the month before. It's been useful to see my chart from the month I conceived DD2 actually.

I've done another test this evening for goodness sake. Luckily they're the cheap ones, but you do see a faint line very early with them when you have conceived. I think they're great.
Was good to know early when when I had a few chemicals. Good to know everything is getting to where it should be, so to speak.

I use OvuSense which works out a bit pricey but it has given me the peace of mind I need knowing I’m actually still ovulating.

its a sensor that you wear internally overnight so it does your temperature. The OPKs work well for, however I didn’t know you could surge but not ovulate. At least with my temperature I actually know I have.

When is AF due? Do you tend to test early? I did and wish I didn’t x

Rain11 · 18/06/2024 21:09

@Joleyjojo AF is due on Friday. I've only been trying for 3 months. This is the first month I decided to test early, and I wish I didn't. I'm trying to be positive, but I think I'm out. I'm resisting the temptation to test today. Thanks for the info about ovulation, I didn't know you could surge and not ovulate... I thought if you tested positive, you were definitely ovulating. 😕 that can make things trickier.

I know ! I didn’t know either ! The only way to tell if you have ovulated is the increased temp and it stays up.

you never know . I will keep my fingers crossed for you xxx

Oh no. Sorry to hear this. Are you going to track this month? I don’t think this month will be ours as I am away for 5 days which I think will be over my peak days. 😭😭😭 I don’t know for certain but I fly out CD 16 so will BD that morning then land about 10am on CD21, so will BD that day. I am covered I suppose for CD16,17 - 18 at a push. I even thought about not going because I will be very upset if I miss the window. I’m actually hoping for an earlier surge due to the chemical but I doubt it x

Rain11 · 20/06/2024 13:18

@Joleyjojo I'm going to France for work, I'll miss the first 3 days of my fertile window (according to flo I'm not missing my Peak, but who knows. I'm planning on using ovulation tests, so we will see...). I hope I don't miss it. Keep me posted, please. Good luck! I think the best thing we can do at this stage is try to relax and not overthink. Easy to say...

40.5
Considering it
It's now or never
But it's such a gamble

Rain11 · 21/06/2024 18:33

@solisolice84 I considered it for a while. I regret not starting to try earlier. It's a big decision, a life changing one, and I was scared. In my late twenties and for most of my thirties, I was dealing with many things (who isn't?, Right?), I just wasn't ready. My circumstances have changed, and although I'm still scared, I feel ready now. I considered not trying because of my age, I've just turned 39, and I know it isnt ideal, but I'm healthy, and I know people who have had healthy pregnancies in their late thirties, my mum had me when she was 41 and I had a fantastic childhood. If it's meant to be, it will happen. I'll give it my best shot. I wish you good luck.

Hi @Rain11 (and everyone else). I’m 38 (DP is 46), we’re around 6 months in. TTC our first together, but my 3rd (although my 1st was stillborn so only have 1 dc at home).

Sorry to hear that this month hasn’t been your month. I’ve found it more and more disheartening each month. Especially as I managed to get pregnant very quickly previously, albeit I was a lot younger! I’m 9 days po today and won’t test unless period is late.
Good luck to all xx

houserenohelp · 26/06/2024 19:50

No luck for us this morning monster period Confused back again next month

houserenohelp · 04/07/2024 17:01

Back into our fertile period and I have suspected shingles! Oh joy

Joleyjojo · 06/07/2024 08:18

Well I am 9DPO BFN this morning , woke up with sore achey boobs. I thought ok this might be it 😂 nope. Although I didn’t test positive until 10dpo last month. So I shall wait a few more days, (I defo will test again today 😂). I hope everyone is doing Ok xxx

MrBigsCat · 06/07/2024 09:41

I’m 39 and been ttc for almost year now
had a few chemicals in that time so have stopped all testing and trying not to think about it and hope it just happens.
hope to see everyone’s bfps soon

SparrowNest15 · 06/07/2024 09:45

I had my Ds when I was 40 years old. It took me 2 years to conceive , but there is hope x sending you all luck

Joleyjojo · 07/07/2024 07:32

I’m a bit in shock and not sure I believe it due to CP last month but I may have got a BFP at 10dpo , it’s definitely a squinter but the photos don’t do it justice I have darkend it in one of the pics. What do you think ? X

I think at your age (also my age), you can’t just leave it to chance. You need to use ovulation sticks to see when you’re actually ovulating. I highly recommend the Easy at Home ones used in conjunction with the PreMom app to measure and record the lines.

Start at 8dpo, one a day. Same time every day and never with FMU. As the second line starts to get stronger, test twice or even three times a day to identify your peak. Once you have found your peak, that day and the day after (ovulation day) are the best times to conceive.

You’ll read that sperm can live five days - only about 2-5% actually do so. The vast majority live 48 hours so accurate timing in line with ovulation is key.

Get your 35+ men on a Wellman Conception daily tablet. Leave it at least 24 hours (ideally more) between ejaculating for better sperm quality (remember there is a reason IVF clinics say the man can’t ejaculate for three days before egg retrieval).

Take CQ10 supplements for your own egg quality. The Kaneka form of the supplement is better. Take at least 200mg daily but higher is better if you can afford it.

Best of luck everyone!
