@InWithPeaceOutWithStress @blackberryhill
Thanks for this - if no luck this cycle or next I might invest. Not cheap though!

@flowersinthecloud Will try the inner wrist trick.

i did get a rise today (surprisingly as another awful night).

Also 7DPO today and managed to resist testing so far! 😁If I can just hold out another day! Then far less opportunities for negative test induced disappointment!

@OnePinkDuck def a trend of rising temps which ultimately is all that matters.

I’d forgotten how expensive it was but you’re right it really is. Not sure l would spend that now! I was really struggling with taking temps using the bbt thermometer method due to disrupted sleep patterns completely messing it up so think that is what drove me to AVA. One good thing is you don’t have to pay a subscription fee to the app and you can keep using it as a period tracker.

Not sure it makes a huge difference all in all to chances of conception but it does give a sense of control to be able to track all the metrics.

The Superdrug sperm test looks good @worldwidetravel2017, I’d like my partner to do that.

sirensong · 01/05/2024 20:10

@worldwidetravel2017 Would love your feedback after you've completed the test and got the results. Looking for the least arduous way to get my partner tested.

OnePinkDuck · 02/05/2024 21:04

Cycle day 22 today, 9 DPO and getting some very mild brown tinge to discharge (a bit like old blood) I usually spot a day or two before each cycle (starts like this and then a bit fresher the next day) and last cycle this started on day 22 as well (and day 24 and 23 the cycles before that), so I think I’m out. Did a pregnancy test this evening given AF feels imminent and was -ve. Will do a test tomorrow for the hell of it before I start bleeding on Saturday if I’ve got my predictions right.
These just don’t feel like long enough luteal phases. Any recommendations for lengthening them? (And on to cycle 4)

RG84 · 02/05/2024 21:40

Hi ladies hope you are all doing okay.
I have a progrestone blood test on Saturday to check if I ovulated. Due to bank holiday, I could only get an appointment on Saturday so I hope its not too early to check. The other thing is I haven't had a period for 4 months so not sure if I could be pregnant. The earliest I can check would be 13th May. Anyone around a similar date?

ButItHasCheese · 03/05/2024 01:27

Hi ladies! Anyone else in shark week? Mine just started and due to ovulate around the 16th
Feeling way less anxious after skipping last month, fingers crossed it stays that way during the TWW

RememberZen · 03/05/2024 08:12

Well I couldn't feel any less optimistic. I finally managed to see my GP, practically begged him for a referral, still denied.
Asked him to do more bloods, since it's been nearly three months since my miscarriage and I'm feeling there's some kind of hormonal imbalance, he said no, my bloods were done in November along with a day 21 test and everything looked fine, and he didn't think there'd be any major changes since then. I told him I was worried the miscarriage had rushed me into perimenopause and he said he didn't think that was the case because I got pregnant five months ago.
He wouldn't do anything to help me, nothing, told me again I have to have at least another two miscarriages before they'd refer me to fertility or egg checks ect.
He told me he knew he'd see me get pregnant soon again, I literally started crying at this point, and it takes a lot to make me cry, I told him you can't say that, you don't have any solid proof to tell me that, that made me angry.
I took the list of things I wanted to be tested for and he basically just told me to go away and keep trying.
The system is awful, I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
This is so important to me, I feel like it's never going to happen, I'm never going to hold my baby in my arms, and my heart sinks.

ButItHasCheese · 03/05/2024 10:56

@RememberZen that's truly awful, I'm so sorry you're going through this.
Is there any way you could get the same tests done privately? Even if just to put your mind at ease?

Thanks, yes, I'm going to get some of the tests done privately, I'm not sure I'll be able to get any help with the results either way though. Unfortunately it's just not going to be achievable for my partner and I to afford private IVF, we are trying to save for private IUI at the minute, but again, I'm not sure if that will get us there, especially if my hormones are still imbalanced.
I'm trying to stay positive, thanks for your advice 🙏

@OnePinkDuck I have also been worried about my cycles being short and periods light since coming off the pill. I haven't found much info on how to lengthen them, but will let you know if I find anything!

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 03/05/2024 16:42

Sorry to hear that @RememberZen . Unfortunately some GPs are just crap and don’t listen. Can you see a different GP?

Use hertility health

ButItHasCheese · 04/05/2024 02:47

@flowersinthecloud I had the same issue coming off contraception - super short and light cycles, which I didn't have with DC1. I freaked out and thought I'd gone into early perimenopause. GP advised to track everything for 6 months, and things have been getting more 'normal' - but it does create anxiety since time isn't on my side... so totally sympathise on that front!

Lalaland13 · 04/05/2024 08:25

Oh gosh @RememberZen this sounds so frustrating, can you ask to see a different and female doctor? So sorry you’re having to experience this

OnePinkDuck · 04/05/2024 08:30

Cycles have been short since my periods came back a year after DS was born. Definitely even shorter since I stopped breastfeeding. I can’t see 10 days as being long enough for an egg to implant! my bbt chart has been all over the place but there is a clear drop today to baseline and low and behold AF here as predicted. Always had light cycles so not so concerned about that aspect. 10 days just doesn’t feel long enough for implantation to happen 🤷‍♀️

sirensong · 04/05/2024 10:14

My cycle has recently lengthened by 3 days from 28 days to 31 days. I am using Pregnacare Conception which seems anecdotally to be notorious for this. It could easily be something else but you could consider it.

OnePinkDuck · 04/05/2024 17:53

@sirensong will look into this!

worldwidetravel2017 · 05/05/2024 08:44

Thanks, me too. This is the second GP I've seen within a year in that surgery. They are renowned for being quite poor service to be fair. I am debating contacting NICE or something, just to see if they suggest I'm entitled to help right now or not, despite what my GP is telling me.

Thanks! yes I'm using them now, but still unsure what I'll be able to actually do with any results I get either way.

Thanks, it has been year of going around in circles. I'm not sure any doctors are good there, the first GP (female) I saw a year ago, gave me zero information or help besides telling my how celebrities are having babies later in life now, I still don't know what I'm supposed to do with that.

Just typed u a long reply
Then pressed wrong button and lost what i typed
Arghhh.

Once u get hh results - give a copy to nhs drs and ask 4 them to go on nhs record

In the mean time - given your age - dont be afraid to ask to talk to practice manager at drs
Ive done that b4

Given your age - gynae should help u fast.

Also - hh results are v detailed.

I paid hh an extra 40 gbp recently 4 a hormone and fertility consultation

This tues i have nhs dietician as i have ibs , fatty liver etc

Very unhelpful of them

Hh will do your amh etc

Hh dont do progsterone

If i was u , id pay randow health 30 gbp and do your progsterone - 7 days after ovulation
