I'm 39 ttc for my first. Been trying for 6 months now so just start fertility testing but hoping I get my BFP before my 40th in September!
I would say at 37 you still have a good few years so don't be disheartened, seeing lots of baby dust your way!

Meryemg · 25/02/2024 06:13

Goodluck with everything hope you get you're bfp soon. I had day 3 hormone Run around 3 cycles ago and she emailed me results said didn't need to see me as all within normal range to keep trying husband she said didn't need testing as we have other children so im lost as to why its taking so long

Didn’t want to read and run.

Im 37 I have 2 children already (youngest is 8) very luckily conceived straight away with my previous 2 but they were to my ex.

Me and my partner have been trying for 9 months now all the fertility tests have come back fine , I think/hope I got a vfl this morning but only time will tell.

It took my body a while to adapt after having mirena coil removed, I’d say only the last 4 cycles (I have shorter cycles) have actually been proper cycles.

YorkshirePeridot · 25/02/2024 11:46

I'm 35 and trying for the first time. Had my implant removed at the end of December and having never been pregnant this is a whole new world!

BabyBorn · 25/02/2024 15:12

We've been trying for around 6 months too. TTC our 4th. This is the first month I have been clean eating, no alcohol and I am doing the seed cycling too to try and improve my fertility. My youngest is 20 months old. I am 39 next month. Just hoping I am not pregnant for my 40th 😆😂 if I am lucky enough to have another that is! Are you doing anything in particular to improve your chances of conceiving?

Meryemg · 25/02/2024 17:03

Nothing too much as i promised this time I would take the relaxed uncareful approach so stopped opks a few months back but have been taking vitex which they say is really good for balancing hormones i have found an improvement on how much discharge around ovulation etc. Hoe long did you're other 3 take?
Mine were in my twenties and first took around a year second took about 8 cycles and 3rd was a one of accident lol it would seem when we dont try it happens i had an early loss last march that was 4 cycles so i was told should fall pg quickly after a loss but unfortunately not the case for me

BabyBorn · 25/02/2024 18:26

Hi @Meryemg. That's good. Relaxed approach is much better. Gets you when you least expect it!
My first was not planned! I was on antibiotics whilst on the pill and the pill failed. Child is now an adult and is 19 😆 My second took 5 months but I was 27 then, she is almost 12 now. My last was a huge surprise. I had been using the Clue app to avoid pregnancy after being off the pill for 2 years and boom, I got caught out! 😂😂 So we figured that a sister or a brother close in age for her wouldn't be such a bad idea!! 🫣 Youngest is 20 months and I am still breastfeeding. Got my cycles back when she was 10 months old and I am ovulating.

Sorry to hear about your loss 🤗 Hopefully with a laid back approach it will happen. Where are you in your cycle? X

Hzky3 · 25/02/2024 20:10

On day 3 so it has been another disappointing month when period showed up. İm stressing i think without realising i am x

BabyBorn · 25/02/2024 20:23

How long have you been trying for @Hzky3 and do you already have children?

Wanderdust · 26/02/2024 07:41

Can I join? 38 (although 39 soon!) TTC number 2. Annoyed at myself for waiting so long to try again... Similar to OP, it's been about 8 or 9 cycles (I say cycles rather than months as had a break at the end of last year as burned out).

Going for 21 day blood tests on Friday, feel anxious. GP was lovely and didn't seem concerned about my age as I'm healthy, which I was surprised at. Said they wouldn't do any more testing (and not on hubby) til it'd been a whole year... Maybe cos I already have a child?

I have a shortish luteal phase of 11 days so sometimes wonder if DC1 was just luck! Just started B6. I had no idea that a shortish luteal phase could be a problem the first time around (conceived DC1 after about 5 cycles). I laugh now when I think back that I used to think "oh lucky me, I don't have this TWW that everyone else talks about!" 😂

Wanderdust · 26/02/2024 07:46

@BabyBorn interested to read you're still breastfeeding, I fed DC1 for 2 years and my doctor thinks that may have something to do with it taking so long! I stopped breastfeeding a year ago though... I got my periods back before the 2 years though. Very confused.

BabyBorn · 26/02/2024 09:12

Hi @Wanderdust it just takes older women a little longer I suppose 😆 I don't think it's anything to worry about as you already have one child. Just a matter of time and luck 🍀

Yes I am breastfeeding still. My LO goes to nursery twice a week so I have long spells without feeding on those days. I also try to distract her and have started to say no a bit more when she just wants to latch on for the sake of it. She still feeds through the night but sometimes I tell her boobies are asleep, she does go a little wild some nights but if she's feeding too often it won't harm her if I say no. I think some women conceive with no problems at all and some struggle. We will see what happens but I don't plan to wean LO until she is two as they need milk until then and she won't drink any other milk.

Good luck for your 21 day blood test, I am sure it will be all good. Keep up posted! X

Confusedddddddd · 26/02/2024 11:17

Please can I also join?

@Wanderdust you sound very similar to me. Trying for #2 since an ectopic in July 23 so it's been 8 cycles. I'm 38.

Gynae said she doesn't want to do any testing until we've tried for 1 year but I've decided to go privately next month as I think the stress is not helping me. I just want to know if my remaining tube is blocked and know whether everything is OK hormonally. But gynae reckons because we've conceived twice relatively quickly, and the main issue (a large cyst on an ovary that was removed with the ectopic) has now gone, we should conceive again easily.

#1 took us 6 cycles to conceive at 35, and the ectopic was an accident at 37.

Confusedddddddd · 26/02/2024 11:19

And I also have a 11 day luteal phase.

I have a prolactinoma which can cause this, but afaik it's all well controlled with medication. Have made an appt in a couple of weeks to check though

Meryemg · 26/02/2024 12:34

Everyone is welcome to join this thread its emotionally draining when it doesent happen and there is no known cause we all need a place to talk get advice and just rant if needed

Hi @Confusedddddddd

I have an 11 day LP too. It has been 12 days once a few months ago. 11 is classed as normal though so try and not to worry.

I have also had an ectopic in 2006 and had my tube removed. I have had 3 pregnancies since so it depends if you ovulate on the good side each month. Hopefully everything will be ok and won't show any blockages.

How are you @Meryemg?

Not half way through my period so feeling disappointed and miserable really may take a break this month make some me time. Think it's because have been upset this month as had a dream i was expecting so guess i had convinced myself this could be it. X x

BabyBorn · 26/02/2024 16:30

Sorry to hear that @Meryemg I had been obsessing up until this last 3 weeks. I focused my energy on walking at least 10,000 steps a day and eating really well. That's massively taken my mind off things. I also go to reflexology every 2-3 weeks too which totally relaxes me and is known to help balance out hormones too. I was advised to start taken Bach rescue remedy too which is helping a lot too. Maybe you can try a few things to take your mind off things. Xx

Meryemg · 26/02/2024 16:56

Yes i prmoised myself not to obsess this time no opks tracking etc as drove me mad last time but here we are time is ticking on nearly 37 i feel like im guna go into peri any time hence why I think so much pressure mentally for it to happen soon will give some of those a go x

Feels good to have someone who is on board with ttc#4 everyone üs so negative

OP posts:
BabyBorn · 26/02/2024 17:01

@Meryemg the good thing about all of this is that we are still lucky to have the three wonderful children we already have. We are either greedy or crazy!! Ha ha. Don't worry. You are far from too old!! There are so many couples starting to just have their first child at our age!! X

Meryemg · 26/02/2024 17:07

Yes i honestly believe its the love & joy they have brough over the years that makes me want one more before my body closes shop as they all grow independant and the youngest now begins to not want tucking in or a glass of milk with a story my heart feels with sadness too that all these moment's may be our last lovely to talk to someone who understands and is so positive so thank-you

Hi all,

Can I join you? I am 37, almost 38 TTC #2. One cycle 3 - had a chemical in January and BFP last month. Hopefully ovulating this weekend. I conceived #1 after two cycles - one of which was another chemical. A mix of hopeful and catastrophising about what will happen this time seeing as I've been able to get pregnant quite often (even if I haven't held on to them every time).

Sounds like we have quite a varied experience on here!

Meryemg · 26/02/2024 17:15

You certainly are very welcome here. Sorry to hear about your losses and sticky happy healthy vibes you're way.
İ am on month 8 of ttc#4 had an early loss (5w2d) last march.

Hi! I’m 41, will be 42 soon. Have been trying for over a year now and nothing. Both of us have had tests and all seems normal. Very frustrating!!
