Hey both, I’m 17 weeks tomorrow. Glad to see you’re both doing well.
Sadly, things are going down hill for us. I’m my last pregnancy with George, I started to experience intermittent contractions and pain from 16 weeks with no apparent cause, and the same thing is happening again.
On Saturday, I had to be triaged with suspected Labour, though they were able determine my cervix was closed and nothing progressed. I’ve been having Braxton hicks with varied pain levels ever since. My own consultant told me they would not do anything and to go home and wait to go into labour.
We managed to get to see the specialist we were referred to in London for preterm birth and they were also stumped. They listened much better and were a little more proactive though, so they prescribed second line antibiotics as my back pain, cramping, abdominal tenderness and uterine irritability can all be symptoms of an undiscovered UTI. I’ve been tested and swabbed so many times and they never find any sign of infection, but they did determine from an ultrasound that I have hydronephrosis in my right kidney. They won’t do anything about it as it’s apparently very common in pregnancy, but I’ve had suspected kidney issues for years, so I’m going to push to see if they will consider further investigation as I’m not convinced it’s the harmless pregnancy version they assume it is.
So, in all, not a great update from me. The only positive, currently, is that I’m still pregnant. We just don’t know how long for. Last time I made it to 19+3. All we can do is hope, pray and try to force the NHS to help us.
