I am not sure about a early scan @RoseH36 - i had one with son about 7 weeks as I had such bad back ache.. so I did have some symptoms.. but it was fine. I guess we won’t this time unless feel there is a issue. There is a window to Womb place not too far away.

Ohh gosh @worldwidetravel2017 always something else, so they think the chemicals in he deodorant will be causing the estogen dominance?

I guess this is easy enough to change - there are these eco friendly wild ones I have been meaning to try actually. Might be worth a go.

Ive changed / am changing the deodrant

They think my health may be linked to it all .
The lady went on about how i need natural progesterone..

I spoke to a tommys midwife this pm - she said she hadnt heard of natural progesterone

Given our miscarriage history - before today's news / phonecalls - i was hoping to get progsterone from drs when preg next time etc ..

Have sent an email to my gastro consultant
.and a msg to nhs gp

The lady re the thermal imagery - said about link between high estrogen and low progsterone

worldwidetravel2017 · 29/01/2024 17:25

Theyve said its v good that im taking a lot of vit d daily - that helps reduce estrogen

RoseH36 · 29/01/2024 17:36

@Lalaland13 thats good everything was fine last time so you should be ok to wait. If everything stays fine this week I'll call EPAS and ask when I can be booked in for a scan. I'll be so nervous to go.

@worldwidetravel2017 I assume by natural progression she's saying that prescription one could intefer with other things you've got going on linked to estrogen. Hope you get some more clarification on what it means.

worldwidetravel2017 · 29/01/2024 17:41

Im due to see gynae in feb ish anyway so they can check what they are pretty sure are ovulatory cysts. Wish i could ask them estrogen questions but will probably be in and out.

Estrogen can be tested in primary care so ive contacted gp too

RoseH36 · 29/01/2024 17:54

@worldwidetravel2017 at least that's not long to wait but frustrating for you having to see so many different people all the time. Hope you get your break soon.

SnookyPook · 29/01/2024 17:55

@RoseH36 I've been so nervous before every scan. Unfortunately it's not got any easier even with passing certain dates etc. I had some spotting last night and it's sent me down a dark path 😑 But my EPU were fantastic and have me booked for a scan tomorrow even though my official 12wk one is on Fri "because you won't want to be going to that one overly anxious". Really can't fault the care I've had so far. Hopefully you will be similarly well looked after. Glad to hear that everything is looking good so far 💕

SnookyPook · 29/01/2024 17:55

@worldwidetravel2017 how frustrating but also I guess good to get some answers, and something you can be proactive about!

Thinking of you tomorrow @SnookyPook

CurlyWurly1991 · 29/01/2024 19:30

@SnookyPook glad you are being looked after and hope the scan at the EPU goes well and all is OK xxx

RoseH36 · 29/01/2024 20:56

@SnookyPook all the best for tomorrow and hope the spotting wasn't anything. Its so horrible feeling anxious isn't it? Just feel so many of us have robbed of the chance to enjoy pregnancy. Someone else I know has announced hers tonight on Facebook. Her DD is a few months older than my DS.

Bumblebee413 · 29/01/2024 21:35

I’m sorry @SnookyPook, that sounds like a horrible evening for you. I’m really glad that they have booked you straight in. We’ll be thinking of you tomorrow.

@CurlyWurly1991 I love your links and your knowledge x

I’ve got my gynae appt tomorrow. I’m really looking forward to it being done and finished. They’ve sent it through with a two week push as I think they want to rule out cancer. When the GP checked she found a hard area on my cervix that she couldn’t explain. I’ve had my hpv vaccines and I’ve always been fine on my smears so I’m hoping it’s nothing/ something benign.

If it isn’t I don’t know what that would mean for this pregnancy. So, fingers crossed all is well. Mainly I’m disgruntled because it’s my first day back after two weeks off and I’m missing a team meeting. That and I think it will be one of my very old Consultant colleagues and I just don’t relish the thought of them poking around in there on a casual Tuesday 😂

@RoseH36 I thought we were test/ date buddies, but I think I might be 5 weeks today rather than 4. My lmp arrived on Christmas Day- have I done my maths wrong? 😆

CatCaretaker · 29/01/2024 22:56

Best of luck tomorrow @SnookyPook ,sorry that you've had such a stressful time last night and today.

RoseH36 · 30/01/2024 08:06

@Bumblebee413 good luck for today, hopefully it's not someone you know, sure that must make things feel a little awkward.
I think we were at one point, AF had been due Christmas Day but because I'd been convinced I was pregnant I'd taken progesterone early and it delayed AF arriving so it actually turned up on the 30th 😂

worldwidetravel2017 · 30/01/2024 08:27

Sending all the luck @SnookyPook

Mrsspoon3 · 30/01/2024 10:04

Thanks so much @CurlyWurly1991 xx
You’re so right one minute I’m feeling OK and looking forward to trying again, then the next I’m crying my eyes out and feeling overwhelmed with the loss. It’s so hard isn’t it?
I’ve done a couple of pregnancy tests - one 3 days after the surgery and one yesterday (a week after). Both had quite dark lines still, although yesterday’s was a bit lighter which was reassuring! I’m still bleeding from the surgery/miscarriage so I probably realistically won’t ovulate for a while, but trying to keep track of what’s going on in my body as much as I can. Thanks for sharing the link too! I thought I’d read there was a smaller risk of miscarriage in the first 6 months. That’s another reason I’m keen to try quite quickly too, once the bleeding stops. Like you I also often have irregular and long cycles so want to get on with it.
Good luck with this cycle!! Keeping everything crossed for you xx

Thanks @Lalaland13! I think period will be a while unfortunately as I’m still bleeding from the miscarriage, but hopefully won’t be tooo far away. It’s reassuring to read of others having no symptoms also! I guess as you say all bodies are so different. Wow that’s so good you went to hospital when you did!!

@SnookyPook Thinking of you today! Hope everything is ok and it puts your mind at ease xx

worldwidetravel2017 · 30/01/2024 10:39

@Mrsspoon3 - thinking of you

I know and hear you on the pain of miscarriage

From a practical and wanting to help point of view - when your ready you may want to consider some of or any of or none of the below

  • vit d - helps reduces miscarriage - taking 2000 iu or even 3000 iu a day helps some people
  • after our pain of early miscarriage - i read about how b6 reduces the risk of miscarriage by up to 50 percent for some people - you may want to consider taking 50mg of b6 - you could discuss with gp or tommys baby charity if desired
  • have you ever had progesterone or estrogen checked ? Both can be checked in primary care on NHS - low progesterone and / or high estrogen can play a role 4 some...

Buy yourself some lovely yellow / bright daffodils...
Listen to your fav music.
Eat your fav foods..

Be very kind to yourself

The miscarriage association can also be a great support...

We are all here too.

My head was a meh mess for at least 6 weeks after our early miscarriage

Gynae often advise a night away or weekend away / holiday to help relax

Supertrooper101 · 30/01/2024 11:57

@worldwidetravel2017 thing is with the supplements tho, do tommys tell you to take the high amounts when pregnant or stop when u get a bfp....in which case your levels will start to drop so how would it help prevent? Am curious. Obviously we all want to do anything possible for the best outcome so is 3000iu vitamin d recommended whilst pregnant?

I have a consultant and multiple conditions

Many people take more than 3000 iu
Vit d

Its said that you can take up to 4000 iu vit d a day..

I regularly take 2000 iu vit d

Sometimes more if winter or if i feel a cold / bug / virus - more

My immune system had a big 2021 infection and a big 2022 infection

Consultant has told me vit d will do no harm and j feel much better with it

Tommys baby charity talk about / have articles on a vit d and miscarriage link

Pregnancy / conception aside - vit d is v v good for you anyway
As is zinc.

My gp said 20 mg zinc daily wont do any harm - a fertility expert told me how much it helps with cycles / fertility / estrogen being high etc

In the it starts with an egg book - it talks a lot about vit d

@Mrsspoon3 take care, it can creep up on you. I think I’m one of those that is trying to cope with the loss by trying again. The idea of the MMC being the end of the journey feels very sad.

After saying I wouldn’t be temping I’ve cracked out the old thermometer again. I find it helpful to confirm ovulation has happened although don’t like that it makes me a bit obsessive!

Mrsspoon3 · 30/01/2024 13:30

Thanks so much @worldwidetravel2017 😊 I’ve been taking a supplement with vitamin D and B6 in and have a super healthy diet, so think I should be ok on the vitamin front. I think my progesterone should be ok too as I know low progesterone often causes spotting before your period and short cycles, and I actually have quite long cycles and have never had any spotting. In pregnancy, low progesterone often causes bleeding too and I had the opposite (a miscarriage with no bleeding at all). I have asked my GP to do some general blood tests though so will see. Thank you!

@CurlyWurly1991 I definitely am trying to cope by trying again too. I’m generally quite a proactive person and love problem solving, so it’s been helping me to try and take some action by planning ways to cope with the loss and also get my body in good shape for trying again.
I’ve started temping again too. It is hard not to get obsessive with it!

CurlyWurly1991 · 30/01/2024 14:02

@Mrsspoon3 yes - I’m similar. Preparing to start TTC again feels like having a sense of control over what is happening to me, I suppose.
I hope your bleeding settles soon and your body gives some clues. Up until about 2.5 weeks after surgical management I was lightly bleeding/spotting and having clear positive hpts, it’s only been the last few days that I feel my body is getting back to ‘normal’.

@SnookyPook Hope you are doing ok and thinking of you today xx
