Well done getting that colonoscopy out of the way @worldwidetravel2017. You’re doing really well- so much more information to work with now than a week ago and more coming. You’re getting there. This is one heck of a thorough MOT you’re going through x

I have a vitamin confession to make! I take pregnancy vitamins rather than pre conception ones. When I first looked, I realised that the pre conception ones were significantly more expensive, so I looked at the vitamin content to figure out why they were so much more. Turns out- no difference. They were just trying to make more money out of the more desperate market, so I bought pregnancy ones 😂

Thus was admittedly when preparing for pregnancy in 2019 and I haven’t rechecked since, so it might be time to re evaluate my decision, given that four years have passed. I’m afraid I’m pretty lax with supplements etc. I just figure that just by taking any, I’m taking a positive step and I guess I don’t truly believe different types will make that much difference. However I am several months in now with no hint of a pregnancy, so there may not be much weight to my assumption xxx

@JC084 I’m so sorry to hear you’re out this month and hope December will be your time 💕

@worldwidetravel2017 you’ve really been through it over the last few weeks. Well done on the MRI and colonoscopy. I don’t know how you’re coping with all of these investigations whilst also thinking of babies etc. You’re so brave. I really hope they call you with the results soon 🤞🏻

My lines are thankfully still there on the easy@home pregnancy tests but still reminding guarded as only a few weeks pregnant and anything can happen. Booked a private viability scan for the end of December and nervous about it. I do think at if I lose it, that baby wasn’t meant to be. @Bumblebee413 , I used Pregnacare conception and cut all caffeine and alcohol over the last few months which may or may lot have made a difference (??) but thought I’d be as healthy as possible when trying. It’s hard though ..every time AF came I’d have coffee and wine for my period week!

Hope the rest of you are doing ok? 💕

worldwidetravel2017 · 28/11/2023 22:49

Thanks guys

4 a number of reasons baby making may be off the radar til March 2024..

I have the private dr tomorrow so should hear something re private liver mri

Thank you , & i have indeed

Hi all, this is going to sound so silly but since my MMC and treatment from that my cycle has changed to be a big weird. I now have two days of pink discharge before I get proper blood (before my period would literally start pretty hard with blood). I don’t know whether the pink discharge counts as day 1 of period and therefore day 1 of cycle, or whether it’s when I get proper blood. Sorry if this is a silly question, it’s just so I’m tracking right and starting my ovulation tests on the correct day. Thank you .

I am feeling better this cycle as I have had a couple of days of my period being really heavy (which I know sounds a weird thing to be happy about, but this is what I’ve always been used to since I first got periods and felt quite worried about my periods getting lighter). The GP and gynaecologist have explained that with 2 lots of medical management plus surgical management this will have knocked my hormones a little more than if I had naturally miscarried so may just take a few cycles to settle, and this cycle makes me feel a little more trust that they were right.

^ that sounds v true

My miscarriage was natural and cycle was ' normal ' next month .

Ovulation wise - test from day 9 of your cycle.
Count day 1 as day with a period thats more than tiny tiny spotting..
So enough blood / spotting to say cycle has begun..

If your cycles are 28 days - ovulation likely to be somewhere between day 12 and day 16 ish

If you put your cycke dates into tommys ovulation calculator - tends to work well

Sometimes after miscarriage can take 2 - 3 months 4 cycles to return to normal ish

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 29/11/2023 09:18

I went for a fertility MOT and they basically said Day 1 is your first full day of 'proper' bleeding. It also doesn't count if you come on later in the day.

ETA: in case anyone is interested(!), when I went for my fertility MOT my bloods - tick, my ovaries - tick, vitamins - tick, exercise (less than 4 rigorous hours a week) - tick, BUT protein powder - big fat cross, and processed foods (I eat meat substitutes) - big fat cross. He said the biggest change I can make to my lifestyle to conceive is my diet. Consider the Mediterranean diet. Literally food for thought.

RoseH36 · 29/11/2023 13:00

@Bumblebee413 I was on Pregnacare conception before so will have another look at their range. I do think you're right that there probably isn't a huge amount of difference and it's a money making thing. Bit like baby formula. I was told there is zero difference between mill powder for babies and the follow on milk, the follow on is just more expensive and they aren't allowed to advertise the first step one due to the "breast is best" advice. So I just stuck to the initial first step stuff throughout.

@Khanga27 I also count day 1 as the first proper day of bleeding. I used to get a bit of old blood type spotting 2/3 days before anything properly happened but interestingly that's stopped since taking proceive.

MrsBP15 · 29/11/2023 15:19

@Khanga27 i started spotting two/three days before my period when my body settled down after having coil removed. Had never had it before so definitely thought it was implantation bleeding the first time…good times!!! I always count from when the heavy flow starts rather than spotting when I wipe.

@ChildrenOfTheQuorn my husband and I have been following Mediterranean diet for several months now and I LOVE it! Such tasty food, all the stuff I love anyway but wasn’t eating much of and relatively easy recipes. Who knows if it’s making a difference for fertility but it’s certainly made us be a bit healthier.

Supertrooper101 · 29/11/2023 17:11

@ChildrenOfTheQuorn did they say why it was a no for protein powder? I have about 3 shakes a day lol

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 29/11/2023 20:46

@Supertrooper101 Definitely a no-no for men as it lowers sperm count. For women he was just a bit more vague and said it was junk that I shouldn't be putting into my body.

Bumblebee413 · 29/11/2023 20:47

@RoseH36 you’re spot on with the formula- there’s no benefit to babies from the follow on milk at all. The best example I think of formula companies is Aptamil and Cow and Gate. Look at the back of both packs next time you’re out shopping and then look at the cost. Same content, same factory, same company, different branding.

I do appreciate that I sound like a crazy packet checker today, but these are genuinely the only two packets I’ve really looks into 😂

Bumblebee413 · 29/11/2023 20:48

Although. There is something about the smell of Cow and gate that gets me, whereas I don’t notice it with Aptamil. Weird 🤷🏼‍♀️

Catson · 29/11/2023 22:30

I used kendamill formula. No palm oil and British milk 🙌🏽

RoseH36 · 30/11/2023 07:42

@Bumblebee413 crazy isn't it? Yet if I hadn't been told I would never have known. I used the Aldi one as when I looked into them I'm sure that one had more vitamins. Was a long time ago now though although hopefully will need to buy it again one day 🤞. There must be loads of products out there made by the same factory and just branded and priced differently though.

Bleeding seems much lighter today so hopefully coming to the end of things now. Getting the tree up today to cheer us up, only doing the lights and then DS can help decorate it properly tomorrow (first time of helping so who knows how it will look 😂)

SnookyPook · 30/11/2023 10:01

Morning all... Well... Best laid plans....!! Bloody hell 😂

Suddenly last night I felt a bit... Weird and looked at dates. CD31 and AF is usually CD28/29. I know a MC can mess things up but I had the most mega spot CD14 and presumed that was ovulation as around the right time for me. We dtd CD17 and 19...

Anyway, this morning I checked as got work Christmas party this eve... And here we go again. I'm weirdly excited as I feel like it's slipped through despite no effort from me.. however that said... Past form this year isn't great! So got to ring hospital now and then we'll see. Not even told hubby yet! He asked me last night if I thought I'd be ready to try again next cycle and I was umminhg and aaahing a bit as its been so nice having head space from it all!

What I've done different this cycle:

  • Not tracked ovulation - no opks etc
  • Had the occasional glass of wine
  • Rough-housed with my toddler
  • Felt completely chill during tww as knew it wasn't happening this month so wasn't symptom spotting or anything...
  • DTD during implantation window (normally avoid just in case!)
  • had appointment with MH midwife and sobbed to a professional for an hour and then felt lots better about my shitty year..?!

Back on the roller-coaster... 😬 Really wasn't the plan until the New Year!

They believe i have fatty liver disease

Getting 2nd opinion on nhs next week

SnookyPook · 30/11/2023 12:43

@worldwidetravel2017 oh ok... Don't know much about that - is it something manageable and not too scary? Does this mean more hope that it isn't the big C? 🤞🏻X

Its better than liver cancer

Issue is - i have consistently abnormal ca125
They dunno
Why

Cancer marker / inflammation marker

Im guna get my boobs checked
Ive not found a lump
But breast cancer can be ca125

Need to find a / the reason

Fatty liver disease does not elevate ca125
