@worldwidetravel2017 good to hear things are in motion to clarify the situation. Hope all turns out benign/treatable xx

@H0pefull day 21 blood tests need to be taken 7 days after ovulation. This is when progesterone levels peak. It can be hard to time this. My last test was taken 7 days after I had ovulated on day 26, so it was actually day 34. It has to be 7 days after ovulation in order to be a reliable result. Do you mind me asking what your result was? Mine was about 28 which GP has said is borderline. They want 30 to confirm ovulation/reliably sustain pregnancy. Thing is that I’ve read research actually says 18 should be the threshold, and lots of nhs trusts use this number. I’m sure higher progesterone is better though, as it makes miscarriage less likely. I’m repeating my day 21 tests in a few days but annoyingly it will fall on a Sunday. I asked the GP and she said first thing at 8dpo is better than earlier afternoon 6dpo (closes early on Saturdays). In case you’re wondering about timing etc.

H0pefull · 20/11/2023 15:58

Thank you @CurlyWurly1991 , that's really helpful! My result was 27, I have spoken with my GP this afternoon and he also said this is classed as borderline, so he would like me to repeat over the next 2 months, so to paint a "better" picture.

That's really interesting about your research showing 18, definitely something I am going to read more on tonight to get my head around it better!

Due AF in the next few days, hopefully i won't need to repeat the tests if this is the month, but if not we have a way forward. GP said if my next bloods also come back low, then we will be in a good place for when our fertility clinic referral comes through. Such a mind game isn't it?!

Thanks again for your reply xx

CurlyWurly1991 · 20/11/2023 16:03

Seems like we are in a similar position @H0pefull as my GP has said the same about onward referral. Do you need to wait 1 year for the referral? My GP agreed to do the hormone and fertility tests from 6 months and said if needed the fertility referral would be from 1 year, so about April.

H0pefull · 20/11/2023 16:43

@CurlyWurly1991 my referral is in progress already as we're about 17 months in! Unfortunately the waiting list is very long in my area. I have been on the list since August, so hopefully not too much longer to wait😬

@worldwidetravel2017 thinking of you xx

FiddleLeaf · 20/11/2023 19:51

Evening, I used to post in this thread as summer began then I moved to the IVF thread. Was successful first time but sadly ended as a MC somewhere between weeks 6-7.

We’ve had 2 months off to physically and mentally recover. For the first time in 2 years I didn’t do a single OPK & something funky is going on… I had heartburn (only had that when pregnant) and I’m having some very strange sensations in my lower stomach. Almost like pinching and feels near the surface rather than deep within my body so lord knows! We have our first IVF appt since the MC tomorrow to discuss FET but imagine if this is the month after all this trauma and £20k spent! I’ll be thrilled of course but totally bamboozled!

@worldwidetravel2017 - I read through the thread and your story. Thinking of you xxx

CurlyWurly1991 · 20/11/2023 20:49

@FiddleLeaf I remember you… I’m very sorry to hear about the miscarriage and no wonder you wanted some time away from it all. I hope the sensations you are feeling are the start of something very positive…

CurlyWurly1991 · 20/11/2023 20:51

@H0pefull Ah ok, that makes sense. Sorry to hear that it has been such a long road for you. No doubt waiting lists are long everywhere. I’m just at the start of even considering any medical intervention, of course we all hope it happens naturally first time! And it just doesn’t. Sending you luck for this cycle x

SnookyPook · 20/11/2023 20:57

@FiddleLeaf so sorry to hear of your loss. That must have been a rollercoaster of emotions. Wow that would be wonderful if after everything it happens naturally! Everything crossed for you! When do you think you would test?

Cressie2 · 20/11/2023 21:51

@worldwidetravel2017 I hope you get your results for the bloods tonight/tomorrow and that you’re ok. It sounds like the NHS and private doctors are carrying out all of the investigations they can to get to the bottom of things and I hope you have your answers soon ❤️

Do any of you take 5 mg folic acid prescription

?

Due to weight/ BMI etc.??

I read the below today -

When taken by mouth: It is likely safe for most people to take folic acid in doses of no more than 1 mg daily. Doses higher than 1 mg daily may be unsafe. These doses might cause stomach upset, nausea, diarrhea, irritability, confusion, behavior changes, skin reactions, seizures, and other side effects.

^ im on 5mg folic acid - could that be making me itchy

5mg due to current weight current BMI

Prescription

As per Tommy's baby charity advice etc

Angelsrose · 21/11/2023 00:22

@worldwidetravel2017 I was on folic acid 5mg daily for a year prior to conceiving. I didn't experience any side effects. It may be an idea to discuss with your GP.

FiddleLeaf · 21/11/2023 11:56

Thanks @SnookyPook & @CurlyWurly1991 :) It was a rough summer but I’m feeling quite strong, mentally & physically at the mo. I do hope this is my time - finally! I think I’m 6 or 7DPO so will test this weekend. I realise I sound mad regarding symptoms but I knew only a few days I was pregnant previously due to the heartburn.

If no joy then we’re having a FET cycle in December 🙏🏼

VixFromThe6ix · 21/11/2023 18:08

@FiddleLeaf I remember you!! I'm so sorry about the results of IVF. I'm crossing all my fingers and toes that your symptoms lead to a BFP. 🤞🏻🙏💞
Out of curiousity... Do you get a free IVF cycle if one you paid for didn't result in birth? Or you have to pay again if you want another cycle? 20,000gbp sounds so expensive!!! That's like 33,000cad. Wow...

Results by next wed pm / thurs am

Bumblebee413 · 21/11/2023 19:50

I’m sorry @worldwidetravel2017, such a lot to get your head around. It sounds as though you’re being really proactive with the MRI.

@FiddleLeaf welcome back! So lovely to hear from you but equally I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Stranger things have happened with babies and IVF- my friend found out she had conceived naturally just prior to going to her final meeting with the IVF clinic to confirm that after years without success they were going to draw a line under it. Sending you lots of baby dust x

worldwidetravel2017 · 21/11/2023 20:27

Thank you. Had an encouraging/ hopeful NHS gp eve call

No one will know re liver until after mri

Im expecting biopsy - regardless of if its good or bad..

They did say my kidneys , pancreas etc are good and they had no ct scan of me ever before etc..

There is a chance liver could be cancerous but equally currently quite good ' chance ' it might not be - lets see ..
I dont wana be too ahh it will be okay as no one knows but equally - just that - we dont know yet

Cressie2 · 21/11/2023 22:37

Welcome back @FiddleLeaf So so sorry to hear about your loss. I’m shocked by how expensive IVF is too. Hoping this is the month for you now, all your symptoms sound very positive! When are you testing?

@worldwidetravel2017 I’m so sorry you’re still in limbo but glad that the GP was encouraging and more hopeful. I hope your colonoscopy on Tuesday goes well and your MRI. The docs are being super cautious and you will be in good hands. Hopefully you’ll have the answers soon and can put this all behind you 🤞🏻

H0pefull · 22/11/2023 08:55

Everything crossed for some good news for you @worldwidetravel2017 , glad everything is being done so quickly for you xxx
