Hi I'm brand new to Mumsnet. I'm 26 TTC for first baby, been trying a couple of months, was on pill for 8 years before this so appreciate it will likely take some time. Found waiting for af a bit tough last month, tested a lot. I know most people have much longer waits before positive test but would love to share the journey with others. Hope this is the right forum for this!

Thank you! Just counting down until an early dating/viability scan now... 🙂

Ahh how exciting! I have mine booked for this Friday and I can't wait! I'll be just over 7 weeks then so I'm hoping I get to see something and hear the heartbeat 🤞🏻

I'm 9dpo today. Is tomorrow too early to test (10 dpo)? I'm so eager to know if these symptoms are pregnancy ones 🙈

I think it is advised you wait until you miss your period so you aren't disappointed with a negative when it could still be too early, and also early testing can mean you are more likely to pick up chemicals which is obviously upsetting. But I always found it impossible to wait until AF was due, the tww is the worst!! It depends when you implanted as to whether it will show or not. Mine showed really early, the top one was 8dpo and the bottom one was 9dpo. I could never wait any longer than 8dpo! 😂😂. Sending you lots of baby dust! ❤️

Congratulations on the positive test! 🥳

I will try and hold out a little longer. AF is due on Saturday/Sunday anyway so nearly there, even though this feels like the longest 2 weeks of my life haha!

Aww well fingers crossed for your BFP! The tww is the worst isn't it! X

Congratulations to everyone getting bfps, so happy for you all! I haven't done an update in a while so thought I would! I'm not pregnant but also haven't had a period since 20th June, currently cd49. I'm feeling a little more upbeat but was really down for a while as I've obviously stopped cycling. I've found the tww stressful before but at least there's the end in sight of either a bfp or Af whereas I can't really do anything about it, just waiting for af to arrive so I can start ovulation testing etc next month and try again but I figure there's no point really at the moment. Has anyone else had experience with these long cycles? I started periods very young and was really irregular at times but seemed to balance out then I've just come off the pill earlier this year and seemed to go to fairly regular 29 days or so until this one! Sorry for the massive post!

Aww I'm really sorry to hear that! Maybe you could keep ovulation testing in the meantime? I have heard you can sometimes ovulate more than once per cycle so if that was the case you might catch it when you aren't expecting it? Xx

Poppins2016 · 08/08/2023 14:15

@GHJ I have PCOS and my cycles range from 24-50+ days... the only thing that gets them in check is Metformin (regulates hormones/cycles), so it might be worth a check? If PCOS does turn out to be the issue, Inofolic Alpha is a supplement that seems to be recommended by many consultants.

Ncl31 · 08/08/2023 14:54

@Poppins2016 inhave PCOS too. Not tried metformin yet but have a GP appointment (over the phone) on 23rd - I’m going to ask about it.
Did your GP prescribe it for you alright? I’m worried I’m going to be up against a battle.

Poppins2016 · 08/08/2023 17:41

@Ncl31 yes, my GPs have always been happy to prescribe it. The PCOS was diagnosed under consultant care and the initial prescription was given by them, however I've had gaps between taking it (as apparently it's now only prescribed on the NHS if you're trying to conceive), but no issues when I've asked for it each time I've tried to conceive.

Ncl31 · 08/08/2023 17:58

@Poppins2016 thanks, I’m hopeful that my GP will prescribe. I was diagnosed with PCOS by a consultant gynaecologist but wasn’t actively trying to conceive so wasn’t prescribed anything then.

Thanks for your message. To be honest I hadn't actually considered ovulation testing until after I've had this next period as wasn't sure I'd be able to see a trend or anything if didn't know the start point but maybe that's worth a try. Can you just start at any point in the cycle? Even if I might have already ovulated or might not be ovulating at all? Might give it a go, give me something to do! Xx

@GHJ I'm not entirely sure how it works but I've just heard it can sometimes happen more than once per cycle. I think it is rare but if there's a chance it's definitely worth keeping an eye out for🤞🏻. Especially when there isn't much else going on. Keeping my fingers crossed for you ❤️

GHJ · 10/08/2023 07:51

@Poppins2016 @Ncl31 thanks for sharing your experiences with pcos and meds etc, really useful to hear, it can feel like a bit of a minefield! I've got a scan in mid sept so hopefully will find out more then!

I actually dont think i can go through it anymore. Its it me or is it so emotionally draining eveeytime i think theres hope them my period comes :( feeling very low

ttcthoughts · 13/08/2023 19:03

@Jazz30 its soo hard. Hope you are ok lovely xx

Ncl31 · 13/08/2023 21:11

@Jazz30 i know what you mean about feeling low. Today I feel terrible. My period was due 18 days ago, nothing. No period, no BFP. I’ve cried all day today.
i have a GP appointment next Wednesday as it’s really getting me down now.

Jazz30 · 13/08/2023 21:17

@Ncl31 im having test done with gp already have had a appointment come through for hospital aswell but not till October. Just feel like loads people keep announcing the pregant when deep down i wish it was me... Just been cryong on and off and then the husband asks whats the matter and i just dont know what to say as its not his fault... Xx

Ncl31 · 13/08/2023 22:08

@Jazz30 i got you with that. I’m exactly the same. My husband asked me today what was wrong and I literally couldn’t tell him :(

GHJ · 14/08/2023 19:54

@Jazz30 @Ncl31 sorry to hear you're both having a rough time of it, it's horrible isn't it. I'm on cd 55, still no bfp, still no sign of AF. I realised today I would be pretty much 8 weeks pregnant by now from this cycle which really hit me. Keep seeing people announcing which is lovely and I'm so happy for them but feel like I would be close to announcing myself and getting excited but also can't even plan forwards as I'm not even cycling, no AF to reset. Ah sorry for the depressing speech

Ncl31 · 15/08/2023 09:07

@GHJ i know exactly how you feel. It’s really difficult. I think I could cope better if I had AF. At least then I know my cycles are pretty normal then. Just instead I keep wondering what all these cramps/aches/twinges are every day!!

GHJ · 15/08/2023 20:14

@Ncl31 I know exactly what you mean, I had some horrible pains lately bit better last couple days but last week was really uncomfortable. Think I may have an ovarian cyst but can't be scanned for another month which is super frustrating. Doc thinks unlikely an ectopic pregnancy which I'm relieved by. Hope your af or bfp comes soon, I hate the waiting but hope it helps to have a limbo buddy, I know it makes me feel a bit less lonely xx

ttcthoughts · 15/08/2023 20:25

@GHJ so sorry you are having a tough time at the moment with being so far along in your calendar.
Could you go for a private scan of the doctors can’t see you for a month? Zz

Ncl31 · 15/08/2023 21:41

@GHJ yes it does help knowing I’m not the only one.
Im going to do a HPT tomorrow just to be sure, got no symptoms but have no idea when I ovulated - if at all so just checking really.
i have a GP appointment next week to discuss hopefully starting metformin.
Do you have PCOS? Or is this a random long cycle? I hope you get some answers soon
