Hi I'm brand new to Mumsnet. I'm 26 TTC for first baby, been trying a couple of months, was on pill for 8 years before this so appreciate it will likely take some time. Found waiting for af a bit tough last month, tested a lot. I know most people have much longer waits before positive test but would love to share the journey with others. Hope this is the right forum for this!

Honestly I’m the same now I said it makes it so stressful and it’s not even testing for the pregnancy stage yet!! Think won’t bother with them anymore! Hope you get your positive soon x

Carebearbaby1 · 18/07/2023 20:55

Hello everyone! This is our 4th month of trying. This month is totally different from the rest, so I am very confused and wonder if there’s anybody who’s in the same situation.
July 13th we did baby dance and on the morning of July 14th I tested positive(solid smiley using clear blue digital) and an increased BBT from 36 to 36.8 which indicate clearly that I have ovulated. Also, I usually gets headache after I ovulate which I experienced the same day.
Next day(1 dpo) I noticed my temperature dropped to 36.2 and remains the same up to this day- 5 dpo(ranging from 36.—36.3). Also, im starting to get EWCM again and feeling of very wet down there so I thought of testing again, which I just did and voila I got another solid smiley using clear blue digital which is indicating that I am ovulating again.
Based on google women can’t ovulate twice in one cycle. But how come I got two positive OPK 5 days apart, confirmed ovulation at BBT, and EWCM?? Has this ever happened to anyone? Is this a sign of early pregnancy??

I am very hopeful to get pregnant🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Lily124 · 18/07/2023 21:38

@Carebearbaby1 I think it sounds like the 14th was your body trying to ovulate but actually didn't because you didn't have a sustained temperature rise confirming it despite having symptoms. Hopefully you're ovulating now and will go on to see sustained temp rise. If I was you I'd get bd'ing to be sure!

Belle199 · 19/07/2023 08:53

I gave in and decided to try ovulation testing. Not had a smiley yet and I'm on CD13. I did have EWCM on Monday which would have been CD11 so maybe the smiley is still to come - I have no idea!

Poppins2016 · 19/07/2023 09:41

Hi everyone! Hope it's OK to join halfway through the thread?! I'm on cycle 2 of TTC baby number 3... Currently CD 17 (yet to ovulate - my cycles are currently averaging about 32 days).

I'm pretty sure I had a chemical pregnancy last cycle (faint positives that didn't progress followed by an unusual period), so I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, but can't help myself!

I have PCOS (currently taking Metformin and Inofolic Alpha) and endometriosis, so I'm trying to gear up for a bumpy journey (although I conceived my first two children quite quickly, so I'm holding onto some hope, despite being in 'geriatric' territory)!

GHJ · 19/07/2023 18:18

Due af today but not arrived. Haven't tested today but have everyday for a week to no avail so annoyingly wondering if might have gone irregular which is a shame. I used to be badly irregular before starting the pill but been pretty regular since off it. Does anyone have recommendations for ovulation testing/ apps/ bbt testing etc please for next month?

Has anyone else had a weird period? So I spotted dark brown for 4 days prior to AF being due, then yesterday had ‘normal’ heavy period type of day but today I woke up and it’s gone back to dark brown and not much of it again!

Poppins2016 · 19/07/2023 18:26

@GHJ Femometer LH tests are good, they're available on Amazon.

For BBT charting I use Fertility Friend (free version works fine, or you can pay for added features, but I haven't bothered).

ReginaPhalange12 · 19/07/2023 19:26

@GHJ this month I have started using the Easy@Home ovulation strips alongside Premom. I'm not sure how accurate the calendar is as it's saying I am in my high fertility stage however still getting negative tests, as I said though this is my first month using it so it could need a month or 2 to give a more accurate fertile period. The strips seem to be working fine though Smile

ttcthoughts · 20/07/2023 06:59

@GHJ This month i have started using easy@ Home and Premom app too. I have found it to be ok and pretty self explanatory, I used to use the Clear blue ov tests but they have become to expensive,

MrsBmaybebaby · 20/07/2023 07:58

Hi there, hope it’s okay to join late on! We are TTC #2 and think my OH thinks I’ve lost the plot!

I had what looked like implantation bleeding at 5-6 dpo, very sore boobs, nausea, headaches, cramps.

today is 12dpo and I did a test, any good line eyes out there? I think I see something faint but OH just gave me a pity look! Don’t know how to do the inverted thing as terrible at tech.

good luck everyone, fingers crossed for lots of positives!

@ReginaPhalange12 I may try the Easy@Home strips next month. I have been using the Clear Blue digital and hate waiting for a smiley face! I am also unsure how accurate the calendars are as I am within the high fertility week and not had a positive yet.

CatiaR · 20/07/2023 10:43

@MrsBmaybebaby I can see a very faint line so fingers crossed for you!

GHJ · 20/07/2023 12:58

Thanks lovely ladies for your tips on ovulation testing. I expect I'll have loads of questions when I start next cycle! Still no AF I think I might have been a bit eager seeing a pattern after coming off pill, last cycle was 29 days so thought that was my new normal but I don't think I've had enough cycles to actually see a pattern yet. Now on cd 30. No AF and no signs of her either. Actually sorry if tmi but don't think I've really had any ewcm this month but seemed maybe slightly like it last night, obvs ridiculous on cd30 but dtd just in case haha. Still bfn on tests this morning so pregnancy shouldn't be why no AF unfortunately. Anyone else with irregular cycles had success getting pregnant and how do you start planning and when to ovulation test etc if no regular pattern? I had lots of testing when I was younger and do not seem to be pcos etc. But I guess things can change!

@CatiaR thanks, glad I’m not just imagining it! So continues the waiting and the peeing on sticks 😵‍💫

Mrsttcno1 · 20/07/2023 16:17

Hi everyone! Hope it’s okay for me to join! Currently ttc#1, feel like we’ve been waiting so so long to start trying I can’t believe I can finally say we are trying!

Currently on cycle 1 & using OPK’s to see if I can pinpoint ovulation after coming off the pill.

good luck everyone, hopefully we all get our BFP’s soon 🤍

Ttc2n · 20/07/2023 17:11

Also joining this month.
Had a late miscarriage in January. Ever since I've had irregular cycles.

I should be ovulating this week but ovulation tests still have a faint line. But Dh is totally on board this month which gives me a bit of hope for a positive pregnancy test.
Now I'm just hoping for some good news this year! Fingers crossed for everyone this month 🙏

moosey89 · 20/07/2023 22:06

@DHB not quite the same as yours but I usually have a pretty consistent 4-5 day period, last time I got pregnant I had a 2 and a bit day period, only 2 flashing smiley days on the clearblue before getting the static smiley, and only DTD once, 36hrs after the static smiley! Sometimes these things don't seem to make any sense 🤷

Poppins2016 · 22/07/2023 11:50

Poppins2016 · 22/07/2023 11:52

Oops. Finger slipped before I was ready to post! Re-try...

It's CD21 and I still haven't ovulated... cervical mucus is alternating between creamy and egg white, LH tests are getting stronger but I've had no peak and BBT is also yet to confirm. I'll be gutted if this turns out to be an anovulatory cycle (PCOS) as I had (unreasonably) high hopes for an April due date!

Belle199 · 22/07/2023 11:59

I’m on CD16 and got a smiley on the ovulation test this morning which is slightly later than the apps were suggesting and I was about to stop testing!

MrsBmaybebaby · 22/07/2023 14:18

I have a question if anyone knows the answer. 14dpo and negative test today so thinking im probably out this month but…

clearblue ovulation test gave me a peak fertility result. DTD that day and next. About 5 days later I got what looked like implantation bleeding (mucusy plus brown, only when wiping). Didn’t have this with my DD but thought might be a sign.

obviously now I’m thinking if that had been implantation I would be getting a positive test by now. Does anyone know if clearblue ovulation tests can give you a false positive? Wondering if what I thought was implantation was actually ovulation 😵‍💫 I’m so confused. Have felt sick, boobs are sore and easily a cup size bigger, skin breakout, headaches, heavy feeling in abdomen etc so starting to wonder what’s happening.

thanks x

ReginaPhalange12 · 22/07/2023 20:43

I am on CD12 today, Premom says predicated ovulation was yesterday but no peak tests. I have a shorter cycle of 24/25 days. Im not sure if I missed ovulation (although I have been testing 3x a day!) or it just hasn't happened yet. Flo has predicted ovulation on Tuesday so I'll keep taking the tests for another few days and will keep my fingers crossed.

Disneydreams26 · 23/07/2023 08:44

Hi all,

Joining this thread very late in the month but I’m CD8 today and it’s our first month ttc#1. I can’t believe that this month we will be trying properly!

I stopped taking the pill 1.5 years ago so I could track my cycles before getting married. I plan to track my ovulation using ovulation tests and I have a thermometer for BBT too, along with allll the apps! We’re going to try the SMEP this month.

Feeling a bit anxious about this journey but I need to stay optimistic and hopeful that it will happen ✨ Wishing you all the luck for BFPs very soon!

Ncl31 · 23/07/2023 09:28

Hi all, joining here if that’s okay. I’m kirsty, 32 with PCOS.
Came off depo October 2021. No positive tests for us, but had had very irregular cycles, the last 2 months have been the most regular. But we actively avoided the fertile window as we got married early July. Fertile window was towards the end of our honeymoon - lots of DTD, we used the Fertilily cup a few times and once when I removed it there was blood stained fluid, so hoping that was ovulation. I’ve not actively tried OPKs for months because I was so frustrated from the irregular cycles making it difficult to track.
Currently around 6DPO, have a full ache in my lower abdomen this morning. Whilst this is the one thing I’m desperate for and hoping for a BFP if this isn’t our month I won’t be super sad as we are going to Florida in September and I want to be able to enjoy the rides.

How is everyone doing?
