I think I’m going mad - I’ve had children and never known a strong evaporation line like this , however I’ve done two of these this morning and each time the line hasn’t appeared until twenty minutes after and then continued to get darker , the instructions clearly say disregard any result after ten minutes - so should I ignore ?

Look at this test !

Strange!

How many DPO are you?

MemoryLapsing · 13/06/2023 11:54

I’ve no idea ! I’m fifty years old and peri meno or so I assumed ! I’m on hrt and my period which comes regularly on it is now a week late .. surely it’s impossible for me to be pregnant !!!!

Unfortunately not. The oldest mother I know of was 51. Get a digital test.

Holy mother of crap - Ok I’ve already ordered a digital from Amazon , I felt absolutely ridiculous going into Tesco yesterday to buy this !! My youngest is a teen and my eldest is thirty and I’m a grandmother!

😳😳😳
I'll admit, I wasn't expecting that reply ...
They do say anything that appears after the time frame stated in the instructions should be disregarded, but what made me comment was that line has colour to it.
Of your still having regular periods though, I don't think it's 'impossible' your pregnant ... if it were me, I'd be straight on the phone to the Dr's x

Hazelnuttella · 13/06/2023 11:59

Pink dye tests are better than blue apparently.

In your case I might just go straight to the GP for a blood test though…

Beginningless · 13/06/2023 12:00

Jings! I don’t think I could wait for Amazon, I’d be back to Tesco pronto!

It will be a medical miracle if I am not least because it’s a rare window of opportunity that I can be bothered these days - I’d rather read a book! Hence recently starting hrt (4months ago ) periods had been fairly ok until then , sometimes a few days out either way but it was the flushes etc and lack of sex drive that made me start hrt .. right now I’m feeling quite faint tbh .. frantically googling evaporation lines .. tempted to send the husband out for a digital today

Any result that comes up after the designated time should be disregarded as inaccurate. I'd take a FRER and go with the result that comes up within the time frame.

Hazelnuttella · 13/06/2023 12:01

A negative test probably won’t reassure you though because you’d still be waiting to see if you got a positive in a few more days if your period didn’t arrive…

That’s slightly more reassuring- I’m currently a week late

@MemoryLapsing
Send the hubby out for that digital!!
And get on the phone to the GP!!
Try and stay calm (easier said than done) but try.

I'm currently in my 1st trimester - my partner and I did the deed ONCE in the space of two months!! Sometimes, it really does only take the one shot ...

ElmTree22 · 13/06/2023 12:07

I may be wrong but I think it's unusual to get an evap line on two different tests. I haven't ever had an evap line on these tests before, although it know people say they are common. My positive tests looking like this after a while.

Congratulations! I suspect you are considerably younger than me though 🤣 I must admit all my children were “first timers “ I assumed that at my age everything was shutting up shop , my husband is a lot younger than me , second marriage and no children together - he seems quite calm about it - we live quite rurally so it’s a trek to the supermarket but I’m considering it .. with a disguise

I must admit they look just like the positive tests I had with my teenager

"with a disguise" ... 😂🤣😂🤣
Just go get one ... you won't rest until you do.
Try and get more than one, for a double check tomorrow morning.

Ok I will head over after lunch and report back - should add I’ve name changed for this for obvious reasons 🙈

Oh gosh! Yes it’s a very very strong evap. Try a pink dye test and see how you get on

Does it look too strong to be an Evap ?
Are pink ones less likely to have Evaps ?

My thoughts exactly.

Handmaid2019 · 13/06/2023 12:18

Eek!! My tests were really faint until around 2 weeks after my period was due! Now sat here with a hot 13 week old!

Get a digital Grin

I think it does look too strong to be an evap but I’ve not used the blue dye ones.

in my experience the pink dye ones are a bit less prone to them (or at least any evaps are very very faint and obviously evaps).

orangie · 13/06/2023 12:23

Oh wow! How would you feel if you are pregnant?

SnookyPook · 13/06/2023 12:25

Oh wow @MemoryLapsing I'm shamelessly following having read the thread and curious about the outcome! How would you feel if it was a pregnancy? Hope you get the outcome you want, whatever that be!

Ah that makes sense - but then I suppose a digital would clear it up once and for all ?
