Morning all!
We did the deed last night more of the same tonight hopefully.
I'm at work all day today and I'm so tired I'll probably be falling asleep into the ham all day.
Have good days all of you, I'll probably pop on at lunch.

BeMyLilBaby · 19/02/2008 08:07

morning all, dunno where boss is so wont be on a great amount today, NJ i lurve that mia moda cos you can have them fully laying down infront of you... i might look around for that style, im not adverse to graco's... DP doesnt want me to spend more than £150,. im thinking more realistically 200...is there a special name for that type of travel system that has a carry cot?

Kay i am forseein A BFP if you carry on like that lol

Anyway hope you all have a nice day!x

BeMyLilBaby · 19/02/2008 08:17

biscuits are soooo not a nutritious breakkie but they are damn tasty!

Playingthewaitinggame · 19/02/2008 08:55

Morning all. Looks like we might be fairly quiet on here today as I shouldn't be posting that much as I have a ton of quotations to write. Of course, I will still pop on every now and again, a girl cant work all day without a break.

Sounds like everyone had a good evening, especially LL with her walking dc!

Catch up with you all later.

popcornprincess · 19/02/2008 09:02

have I missed antything? Any BFP's since I was on last Friday?

NatalieJane · 19/02/2008 09:04

Good morning

How are we all today? (No need to answer Kay We know how you are!! )

Well I have a day of clearing up and cleaning ahead, DS1 is doing his room, DS2 has an extra long date with CBeebies, we're all gonna be busy bee's today.

We're used to having another person in the bed, we'll see about the body pillow thing... have gone from being 100% sure that was the way to go, to now being a bit erm... undecided! It doesn't really matter yet though, have to keep reminding myself that we are still in February, and I am not even likely to find out about any pregnancy till June+, but you never know if the result of Valentines day, or all of the dipping in since has been enough! No no no, don't go thinking down that road Nat, never gonna happen!

Ohhh and well done to LL's little girls DS2 is 14 months and still not walking, just like his big brother!

NatalieJane · 19/02/2008 09:10

Sorry forgot to say, BB, I don't think there is a special name for them, some companies calls them 3-in-1's, some 2-in-1's, some Pushcahirs +, some 'Pram Mode', you just have to look to see if the pushchair bit can be turned into a carrycot type thing, or if there is a seperate carrycot. I loved having the carrycot when DS2 was tiny, it seemed 'right' to be able to put him into a 'Pram', better than putting a newborn DS1 into a flat Graco, he never grew into it properly until he was about 6 months, and the carrycot was much warmer, and also let you show him off a lot easier

popcornprincess · 19/02/2008 09:13

I can recommend the Bugaboo cameleon. I agree with NJ about the carrycot. The baby just seesms so happy and comfortable in a carrycot. Oh and protected from the elements.

BeMyLilBaby · 19/02/2008 10:32

thanks you guys, im defo gonna go for one where the carrycot fits to the framw, so that as you say you can have them facing you for longer without having to have them in the car seat all the time...

i dunno if graco do a version... i know nj hates graco!!

anyway im boooored...x

Teuch · 19/02/2008 10:38

I love my carrycot and it doubled-up as bed when visiting family for a spell after he grew out of moses basket as was much roomier

It is imperative that they are not in car seats for long periods of time - our niece used to be in hers constantly (they used it like a bouncer too) and even had a spell of sleeping in it as she kept being sick . I had to say something, even though I would never normally do that...

Our location meant lots of long journeys, so it was great to get DS out and lying flat in the pram.

NatalieJane · 19/02/2008 10:43

Graco, it is one of those things I would avoid like the plague, but for some people it is all they need/want, and they are very popular. The accessories are cheap as well.

I think Graco tend to do the baby nest things, they are like a soft carrycot that fits on to the seat, I don't think they do a proper hard carry cot, I could be wrong though.

I couldn't cope with just using the carseat when they are small, you are only supposed to leave a baby in a car seat for up to 2 hours, that wouldn't give me enough time to get on the bus, get into town, go round town, get back on the bus and get home. But again, that is my life style, others will have different ideas.

NatalieJane · 19/02/2008 10:45

Teuch, when DS1 was little he used to sleep in his, the 2 hour rule wasn't known then! I remember telling his HV that he wouldn't go to sleep without me feeding him, and she said to put him in the carrier and rock him gently, I expect some of them still spout the same crap!

popcornprincess · 19/02/2008 10:47

I agree. I don't think its right for a baby to be stuck in the curved position for a long time. They should be able to stretch out. Someone told me that the Americans say that the baby should be in the car seat for no longer than 30 minutes if it can be avoided. Thats ok if you have no life and don't go far in the car!!

NatalieJane · 19/02/2008 10:48

BB, this is the only Graco on Mothercare with a carrycot type thing. 'Tis £300

Playingthewaitinggame · 19/02/2008 10:52

Hi all, still with the pushchair talk I see!! I do know what Natalie means about Graco's so I think I may have to side with her, sorry BB! Its not that there awful, but I think you get what you pay for and Graco are on the cheaper end of the scale so they can be heavy, plasticy and a bit cumbersome. But they are extremely popular for a reason, for the money you pay you tend to get a lot. Not sure I want one with a car seat too, not sure, I think it would be far too much to fiddle around with, to have to continually be straping it in and out of the car, would rather have a car seat permanaently fixed in the car. I do def want a "pram", you know baby lying flat facing you, but dont want one that is too heavy, quite liking M&P Pliko Pramette at the mo, but I expect to change my mind . I havent really looked into it at all yet to be honest, I am resisting the temptation, want to save pushchair shopping till I am actually pg!

NatalieJane · 19/02/2008 10:55

Mothercare version of it is £270

That link to the Mia Moda seems to be the cheapest with a carry cot included.

If you could afford (or maybe wangle!! ) £160-£200 for the buggy and car seat, and then push for the carry cot as an extra, or a pressie you would have much more choice

NatalieJane · 19/02/2008 10:59

Playing, you can buy a base that stays in the car permanently, so the seat clicks onto the base.

TBH the baby car seats are so easy to strap in, you will think nothing of getting it in and out of the car anyway.

I think if you have a car, it is just so much easier to have a travel system, makes it so much more versatile, and it does work out cheaper most of the time to buy a 'package' rather than separates.

NatalieJane · 19/02/2008 11:10

Just found this, Britax £199, including the carrycot, but you have to buy the foot muff, changing bag etc. separatly. Brittax are very good car seats, and are suitable in a wider range of cars, doesn't mean it will fit, but means it has more chance of doing so.

I am on a bit of a mission now, nothing can stop me So much for clearing the house up today!

BeMyLilBaby · 19/02/2008 11:30

thanks NJ, I have written them both down, think its between the mia mode and the britax, Didnt realise these things would be soooo expensive!!! any other suggestions gratefully recieved

i think cos its not certain that DP will be driving (he hasnt re-started his lessons yet), car seat, and fitting it into a car isnt so important, it just has to be easy-ish to manourver on buses!im lucky really cos there's a bus stop at the top of our road, so getting around wont be difficult.

i was looking at cots too, argos have one for about 60 quid, 3 positions, with a mattress, does that sound to good to be true? x

popcornprincess · 19/02/2008 11:33

Ladies - I need to just go off on a tanget for moment. I need to get my MIL a birthday present. Anyone got any fantastic ideas?

Diege · 19/02/2008 11:36

Morning! Well, meeting was cancelled, so have come home to 'work from home' instead . It is soooo cold outside - I can see the frozen canal through the window - but have all day to myself now as dh is picking dds up from school/nursery at 6. Bliss!!!
Re: Graco, I did get one for my very first buggy, just when the 3-wheelers were becoming really popular. TBH, I'd give them 6-10. No major issues, but very plasticy and quite cumbersome to get on/off buses (my life revolves around buses and trains!). I think the bugaboo bee also does forward facing for babies, although you need to get a baby nest insert to make it suitable from newborn (great resale price though!).
Hope I haven't out you off the pillow corpse support Nat! The girls on my antenatal thread swore by them! Still, as you say, there's plenty of time to think about it . My dipping onviously came to nothing this month (thankfully), but you never know with your ins and outs!

Diege · 19/02/2008 11:39

BB, £60 for cot with 3 positions sounds great - not too good to be true, as you can get cheaper from places like IKEA, though usually with just one (or no) adjustable levels.
POPCORN: MIL present? Arsenic? (sorry!) Hmm, will have a think. Is she a 'smellies' sort of MIL, or a bit more glam?

Teuch · 19/02/2008 11:45

Books, anything from M&S, slippers, photo frames, writing paper, foody stuff...

Teuch · 19/02/2008 11:45

is it a milestone birthday?

Playingthewaitinggame · 19/02/2008 11:49

nice chocolates, good bunch of flowers, spring bulbs from garden centre (actually anything for garden centre, they normally have good range of stuff), anything that relates to a particular hobby of hers (e.g cooking, walking, painting etc), jewellery, broom stick.
