Ferti lily cup

Hey guy,
I am just wondering if anyone has used the ferti lily conception cup.
I used this once cycle over a year ago and now have a 15 month old son. I then feel pregnant after 2month TTC.
This is my first month ttc back again.

I have used the ferti lily cup again but cannot remember last time if there was any leakage of semen/sperm? I feel like there may have been some leakage but not a great amount. I did have a vaginal birth with my son and he is my first birth.

The reason I tried the ferti lily cup was I felt that all my hubby semen was leaking out of me when we dtd. Does anyone else experience this or am I just going mad. I do feel extremely wet (apologise). This is the reason why I purchase the cup.

Please if anyone can share there experience it would be amazing.

I used it for the first time this cycle, still in the two week wait so can’t confirm if it worked.

Sooo TMI but needs must to respond to your question:

I found some times we DTD I still had a fair bit of leaking, but for my most fertile days I reluctantly stuck to “missionary” and was able to limit any spillage etc! Could be coincidence as apparently on most fertile days your cervical fluid is meant to help “suck up” the swimmers 🙈 or could be down to the positioning before putting in the ferti Lily.. who knows!

to put your mind at rest though, they say, anything that is heading that way will still make its way to the right place! The rest, whilst sadly falling out… is just spare!

@lottieb92
Hey thanks for the reply.
Previously to my successful pregnancy we used "doggy" position and this is the position I used this cycle.
How did you feel when you removed the cup. Did you feel more wet(apologise once again)

@rimx I also added that into the mix too! But think it was a few days prior to my ovulation day! Both positions meant to be optimum for getting it where it needs to go 🙈

to be honest, I didn’t check too much! But I assume so yes.. I pretty much consistently feel that way afterward and there was usually something in the ferti Lily. But almost all the times we DTD, I went to bed immediately after bar once! They say in the instructions that is normal to have something left over as usually just other fluid going around and as long as you’re keeping it in for the right time you should be fine!

I found the using easy enough, but the cleaning and glamour of it all was a bit awkward!

However, the great reviews and of course your success make it all sound promising 🤞🏻

Hi everyone hope you don't mind me joining. I'm a year & half ttc #2 & am really interested in trying the cup. Is it easy to use ?
Thanks in advance

rimx · 11/04/2023 00:49

Hey.

Hope your okay. It does take getting used too. I would say to trial run in with your partner first before you use during the fertile window.
It is easy to use once you've gotten use to
One thing I did struggle with is popping the stem back into the cupping position once inserted. I did however get pregnant after one use and I didn't attempt to pull at the stem once it was in as I didn't want to risk pulling the stem too hard and then the cup coming out. Hope this make sense xx

Good luck xx

Thank you! Yes good advice I can imagine it takes a bit of getting used to. First time of using wow that's amazing! How long were you ttc before you used the cup of you don't mind me asking? X

rimx · 11/04/2023 10:19

Personally I was TTC for 2months and then on my third cycle I fell pregnant.
But I do know if someone who has been trying to get pregnant for over a year and she fell pregnant straight away with the ferti lily cup

I’ve just started using it this cycle, after 6m TTC.

I was VERY nervous to try it, I don’t know why! Had visions of the stem breaking off (why is it so stretchy?!).

I had a practice with some lubricant so I knew what to expect.

We’ve now used it twice after DTD. Both times I think I lost a little ‘product’ when I was putting it in, and popping it back down in to a cup shape was quite hard especially when it’s slippery 😂 very unglamorous.

when removing it there was a lot of liquid in the cup so it defs kept a good amount up there, despite losing a little at the start.

remember it’s not the actual liquid that passes in to your cervix, it’s the sperm within it. So you will always lose the whole lot eventually, it’s just about keeping it up there as long as poss.

good luck!

Rayofsunshine22 · 11/04/2023 19:11

Thanks ladies it's really helpful and good to hear from others who have used it & success stories. I'm gonna get one they are cheap enough & it's defo worth a shot. X

fairgame84 · 11/04/2023 20:59

I got pregnant first time using it after ttc for 14 months.

Amyjones86 · 14/04/2023 06:28

I started using a knock off version lol from an ebay shop for a tenner as I thought I’d see what it was like. I actually compared it in boots and it is the same! Anyway, started using that in December 2021 and conceived in Jan 2022. Unfortunately I had 5 recurrent MCs last year but used the cup along with preseed each time, including December 2022 and am now nearly 13
weeks pregnant. I think it definitely works. I also took a cough medicine with the ingredient Guaifenesin to loosen mucus (sorry!) and thin that worked too. Good luck all.

Sierra26 · 14/04/2023 08:04

@Amyjones86 sorry for your losses 💕 Lovely to hear that you’re 13 weeks now though, congratulations. And thanks for the tips! I might try the cough meds next month if I’m not successful this cycle 😂 I’m also adding aspirin from now (3DPO) to help with implantation. Willing to try any of the tricks 🤞🏻

Rayofsunshine22 · 14/04/2023 16:39

Cough medicine & aspirin! I haven't heard these. What does the aspirin do please?
That's amazing about the cup. So pleased it has worked for you. Yes I've seen there are lots of versions of the 'cup' out there now.

Amyjones86 · 14/04/2023 21:47

Thanks @Sierra26 it was a tough year, last year! Both of my consultants, private and NHS recommended 150mg of aspirin rather than the previously recommended 75mg. The NHS consultant said he prescribes it for anyone TTC, regarded of miscarriage or not which was interesting?
Thanks @Rayofsunshine22 yeah the one I got was so much cheaper than the branded one so why jot save money when we spend so much on everything else TTC related! I was prescribed aspirin to try and prevent pregnancy loss, it can help thin the blood which the consultant said can help support the implantation of the embryo and the formation of the placenta. I have no idea but it seems to have worked for me. Wishing you both the best of luck Xx

Rayofsunshine22 · 14/04/2023 21:55

That's really interesting, how much aspirin were you recommend to take each day? & Is that every day or just certain times of cycle? I'm at the point of trying everything now. I'm going to order a cup now 🤞

Sierra26 · 14/04/2023 22:30

@Amyjones86 thanks for sharing that!

@Rayofsunshine22 I think aspirin has quite an immediate effect so I’m taking it from today 3DPO for the next week probs to cover the potential implantation period. I don’t think any need to take outside of that window. I have 75mg tablets (“baby aspirin” ironically) but might take two to up it to 150mg as @Amyjones86 consultant recommended! Can’t do any harm xx

Rayofsunshine22 · 14/04/2023 23:18

Thank you yes I agree its worth a shot like everything else 👍🤞 fingers crossed for you 🤞

Rayofsunshine22 · 16/04/2023 15:54

I've ordered a cheap 'cup' off eBay which looks identical to the Fertilily branded one. I presume it won't come with any instructions etc so can I ask ... How do you know when it's in /up right/far enough? I'm seriously rubbish at this stuff.
Thanks in advance.

Sierra26 · 16/04/2023 20:43

@Rayofsunshine22 basically keep pushing until it doesn’t go any further!! 😆 flip it like an upside down umbrella and push it all the way up. it’s gonna slide around A LOT but try keep it in that shape. Then once you think it’s all the way in, keep a bit of pressure on the cup and pull the stem so it pops back in to a cup shape. Mine sucks up a bit further when I do that bit and seems to find the right place to rest.

That all said, I’ve only used it twice so who knows if I’m doing it right!!

I have a high cervix so the stem is basically disappeared once it’s all the way in for me. A bit disconcerting at first but I know now I can get it out with a bit of bearing down and gentle pulling/hooking

let us know how you get on!

Rayofsunshine22 · 16/04/2023 20:59

@Sierra26 thank you for that. I was going to ask if much of the stem is left once it's in. Yes I think I have a tilted cervix when I have smear tests they get me to put my hands under my bum to tilt. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it. How do you lay when inserting it? Just on your back /legs up? God I can imagine loads escaping when trying to insert it!

I will have a practice before my fertile week for sure. I will let you know 👍🤞

Sierra26 · 16/04/2023 21:30

@Rayofsunshine22 yep just lay flat with my knees bent up. The second time though I wasn’t sure if it was in right so went to the bathroom and tried to reposition it sat on the loo, didn’t work well so I ended up lying on the bathroom floor and sorted it 😂

it kind of scoops everything up there as it goes in so not too much escaped

Rayofsunshine22 · 16/04/2023 22:17

@Sierra26 👍👍 the things we do 🤣 thank you I'm excited & nervous to try it out. Have you slept with it in? Can you do that? We always DTD late at night. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞

lottieb92 · 16/04/2023 23:28

@Rayofsunshine22 I know people who sleep with moon cups in! But the ferti Lily instructions say 20mins-1 hour.

I fell asleep … not sure how long for, but I whipped it out as soon as I realised and woke up maybe 1/2hrs later 🤡🙈

sadly it didn’t work for us this month, but I am much more confident using it going into this month! Good luck x

fairgame84 · 17/04/2023 05:55

Don't sleep with it in for 2 reasons.

  1. It suction itself tight in there and it's really hard to get out.
  2. I got BV when I left it in overnight. BV can make it hard to conceive and it also delayed my hsg test.
Rayofsunshine22 · 17/04/2023 06:38

@lottieb92 sorry it wasn't your month this time. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞
Thanks for the advice @fairgame84 I defo won't keep it in longer than an hour. I'll have to set an alarm!
