7dpo bleeding but NOT implantation

Hi everyone,

I am hoping to find someone who may have experienced something similar as I am at a loss. We started TTC 3 months ago. I can pinpoint ovulation through OPK and tracking temp. Roughly 7DPO I get bleeding which I initially thought was implantation bleeding but I’ve not had any BFP. The bleeding comes the same time every cycle, lasts for about a week on and off (not enough to fill a pad but can have sudden gushes that leak through my underwear and some clotting - usually dark brown) and then finishes and my periods comes. It’s definitely not my period as my BBT remains elevated and it’s on and off - my period is always on time and lasts 5 days with no on/off. This cycle I had very bad cramps with the bleeding too - I never normally have bad cramps. This literally only started when TTC and it’s clearly not implantation, and it’s been 3 cycles in a row so it’s not a one off. I’ve had my progesterone tested and my levels came back as normal. Not been on hormonal birth control in years, I eat clean, am a healthy weight and regularly exercise. Any help would be SO much appreciated- I am losing my mind! Thank you xxx

@HollyP21 That's good progress. Mine started 9dpo, my temps looks really good so thought it might be IB but brighter spotting last two days, temp drop and - test so I'm out. Tempted to get prolactin, thyroid and fsh/lh checked this month but waiting to see what Dr says next week. Only been three cycles but I keep thinking somethings wrong and it won't happen. Someone at work made a passing comment about me going on maternity leave to get a break and I had to stop myself crying.

Lollywhite · 19/04/2023 19:13

@HollyP21 @Mushroo
just trying to catch up sorry I’ve missed loads! I’m just waiting on my referral coming through for second ultrasound but have decided to book a private one in meant time for next Wednesday. I think it’s transvaginal so I believe their meant to be more accurate!

i also can’t face doing OPKs again this month, i was so obsessed and tracking every day like you mention @HollyP21 !

this month I’m trying Ovusense and recording BBT! Xx

Wonderingwoes · 19/04/2023 20:24

This is month 4 TTC, came off the pill in December after 10 years, ovulated really quickly after stopping and seem to get regular periods back straight away 26-28 day cycle but I’ve had the pinky spotting getting more read the nearer I get to AF. Was really hopeful at 7 dpo thinking when it hadn’t come then when it did thought it was IB but 3 days later that’s not looking likely, it’s off and on for me though and only when checking CM. Haven’t temped this month but temps always stay up until day before period so feel like it’s not necessarily progesterone related. Had bfn’s so far xxx

Mushroo · 19/04/2023 20:56

@Wonderingwoes your story sounds very familiar and seems you’re in the same boat as the rest of us.

@Lollywhite seems like some progress at least, let us know how you get on

Un7breakable · 20/04/2023 15:48

This has sent me into a tail spin today. Found a research paper that said leutual bleeding significantly reduced the chance of pregnancy, then found out in my area you have to be trying 2 years to get NHS funded IVF 😭 I can't cope with the thought of waiting that long.

@Un7breakable I'm with you on the downward spiral. Bleeding started yesterday, then temp dropped this morning so did a test and it was negative 😭😭😭 so hard to keep picking yourself up each month especially as I really thought this was going to be it this month because the bleeding hadn't started.

Can you not just tell your doctor it's been longer? I also thought if you're 35 then the nhs don't wait as long so it might not be as bad as you think!

A friend of mine just got pregnant accidentally and she doesn't want it. So hard to be there for her. Felt like an absolute stab in the heart when she told me 💔

At least we all know we're not going through this alone xxx

@HollyP21 that's so difficult. It's bad enough when friends are pregnant and want it.

Unfortunately when I went to see about the spotting my GP asked why I was concerned and said TTC, age asked how long and I answered honestly. Kicking myself now.

Everything I've read on NHS says you have to been trying over a year at 35 then two years for IVF(even if older)

HollyP21 · 20/04/2023 17:25

@Un7breakable ahh no that's so frustrating!

You'll find this an interesting read:

genesisresearchtrust.com/askrobert-questions-and-answers/laparoscopy-hysterosalpingogram/

Make sure to read the doctors reply at the end of the post too! Might be worth pushing for that scan! I've found hysterosalpingogram scans for around £700 private but the laparoscopy is so expensive privately! Xx

Thanks for that. I'll look into it. I'm assuming my GP will say wait till we get to a year TTC then start other investigations.

Mushroo · 20/04/2023 19:00

If this gives anyone hope I’ve had the worlds faintest second line! DH assured me he can see it (i only tested with not good wee just now as we wanted to go to the pub!).

Not getting excited but it’s more progress than I’ve ever had!

(it’s definitely a squinter…)

Lana32 · 20/04/2023 19:22

@Mushroo I 100% see that second line - I don’t even think you can call that a squinter! Are you going to test again to be sure?

Mushroo · 20/04/2023 19:26

@Lana32 thank you! Just might have expected more at 12dpo. Will test tomorrow with FMU and report back.

If it is true, then I definitely had bits of spotting as I’ve been moaning for the last few days so there is hope for us all. It was lighter this month but 100% still there enough to be noticeable.

Seeds ftw!

Un7breakable · 20/04/2023 19:32

@Mushroo Congratulations. I see it and I'm rubbish at seeing lines. 🤞 It's a sticky one. Guess yours this month was IB?

Lana32 · 20/04/2023 19:34

@Mushroo I think the line on a strip test was around the same for me at 12DPO! I’d imagine if you used a FRER it would be much stronger.

I also had bleeding before my BFP on the month I conceived - like you, much lighter than other months but definitely still there!

Mushroo · 20/04/2023 20:29

@Un7breakable @Lana32 thank you both.

Given the spotting I don’t think I’ll relax until I have a clear blue ‘pregnant’ and a very late period. Keeping fingers crossed!

HollyP21 · 20/04/2023 21:45

@Mushroo that's amazing!! Definitely a line! Keep us updated! Xxx

OP posts:
Mushroo · 21/04/2023 07:18

Did another test this morning and there’s definitely a line, I can’t quite believe it. Don’t feel I can relax until way past AF which is due tomorrow.

Thank you all for being so supportive, I know how rubbish it is seeing BFPs when AF arrives (about a week ago I was getting irrationally annoyed at all the accidental ‘we had sex once’ threads).

If I can get there, you all can I’m sure. The only things I did differently this month were:
seed cycling
opks and SMEP
this sounds so ‘woo’ and before TTC I was not that sort of person, but I just ‘believed’ I would get pregnant. Any negative thoughts I completely shut down and imagined I would be pregnant. (I know this sounds mad). The positivity did NOT last in the TWW.

Piglet34 · 21/04/2023 10:13

@Mushroo ooooh exciting I can definitely see that line! Tentative congratulations ✨ and also interesting to know you still had light spotting, I guess there really are no definites when it comes to TTC!

Mushroo · 21/04/2023 10:15

@Piglet34 thank you! Todays still isn’t wow but there. Going to locate a pregnancy test that wasn’t a giant box from amazon I think..

Definitely! This month I had spotting 7dpo - 11dpo. Very light but there. And I am a serial spotter, always happens before AF so hopefully this is sticky and can give us all some hope.

HollyP21 · 24/04/2023 19:27

@Mushroo any updates? Keeping fingers crossed for you xx

Mushroo · 25/04/2023 06:58

Hi @HollyP21 definitely pregnant having done a bazillion tests but still spotting so I can’t relax at all!

It’s super light, not getting worse and only about once a day but definitely happening, so once I hit 5 weeks (on Saturday) I’m going to see the EPU I think. From googling could be cervical erosion (assuming not the worst).

I’ll report back with the outcome as it seems like something that could happen to us all on this thread so I’ll make sure to let you all know what the midwives / doctors think.

I have loads of pregnancy symptoms though so trying to keep positive :)

HollyP21 · 25/04/2023 07:21

@Mushroo yes please let us know how you get on! Try not to worry - even getting this far is so positive! It shows that you can get pregnant which is huge! Xxx

OP posts:
Mushroo · 25/04/2023 07:27

@HollyP21 exactly! The fact I’ve had a BFP is so reassuring regardless of the outcome. Will let you know how I get on when I speak to the doctor.

Keeping fingers crossed for you all as well xxx

Un7breakable · 25/04/2023 13:14

@Mushroo Fingers crossed everything works out.

It's very reassuring for the rest of us.

HollyP21 · 26/04/2023 13:26

Update: MRI results came back and it's bad news. I have endometriosis on both ovaries. The one on the left ovary is really big and will probably need surgery to remove. This also means there aren't any good eggs on my left side and only my right. They also found it on my pelvis and posterior and some other stuff I can't understand.

I had no symptoms of endo at all except for this bleeding. My ultrasound and transvaginal as well as my bloods didn't pick anything up. Would highly recommend getting an MRI if any of you are the same as me.

Feeling so devastated 😭 wait list for surgery is over 2 years for endo where I am and chances of getting pregnant naturally are low. 💔💔💔
