Is this ovulation test positive? (Pic)

Hi ladies,

this is my first month ttc. I got some cheap ovulation tests, and was wondering if it’s positive? I took it because I noticed today I had ewcm and I’m usually quite dry otherwise. Also high libido etc.

i have used ovulation tests before but that was to avoid fertile days, so usually the test line for me is quite faint. But not sure if this is strong enough to count as ovulation?

Yes 😊

Peachyplumm · 29/12/2022 23:10

Thank you ☺️

does this mean I’m ovulating right now, or that I’m gonna ovulate soon? Not sure when to have sex or if it already happened and I missed it

I think it means you are ovulating. In my experience I'm most fertile in the 3-5 days before ovulation.

CAA121 · 29/12/2022 23:58

I think the line gets darker as you approach ovulation (good indication to start DTD) and then at peak is when the line is darker than the control line (positive), if you test the next day and the line isn’t as dark it’s shows the peak was the actual peak and LH has dropped again. From google it suggests ovulation happens anywhere from 8 to 20 hours after the peak LH (positive OPK)
hope this helps :)

Peachyplumm · 30/12/2022 05:33

Thanks so much guys

i took another test just before bed (too one was from the afternoon, bottom one is from now) and I think it’s even darker than the control line now.

me and my partner DTD earlier today and a few days ago so I hope I’m good! I stayed with my legs up for like 20 mins and usually it will leak out of me when I stand up but no leakage afaik. Will test again tomorrow and dtd once more 😂

I heard that doing it every day can actually be worse. Is that true?

I’ve read very mixed research on whether DTD every day is worse or better for conception and I think what it comes down to is whether sperm count is good or not. Some research says every other day, some say every day and some same doesn’t matter either way. I go with every day during the 3-5 days before ovulation and 1-2 days after peak but I’ve definitely read others who have DTD every other day or even once during fertile period and got pregnant

have you heard of SMEP? Sperm meet egg plan? If not, have a google, it recommends DTD certain days to ensure ‘exactly what it says on the tin’ hehe

Peachyplumm · 30/12/2022 16:38

i looked it up and it seems pretty interesting!

but also I ordered a digital ovulation test, the clear blue one which you can reuse by changing the sticks. And I’m so confused because I tested today using that and I got ‘low’. Were my other ovulation tests wrong somehow, or did my peak just fall that quickly?

I’ll be gutted if I wasn’t actually ovulating ? 😭

OP posts:
BuffaloCauliflower · 30/12/2022 16:40

Yes that’s positive. I wouldn’t bother with the digital ones, they add nothing and just cost more. It still helps to see the line darkening on the strips as you know you’re getting closer to ovulation even if the digital doesn’t count them as positive

BuffaloCauliflower · 30/12/2022 16:51

And yes - the peak can literally be for a couple of hours, so you can test one afternoon and be positive and the next morning it’s gone. After a positive test you’ll ovulate within roughly 24 hours, but you actually want to DTD in the 1-3 days before you ovulate so it’s helpful to see the line darkening

I’m so confused

I took another digital test and it still says no. But then I took the strip out the both lines are dark. I then also dipped in one of the cheapies again which shows a dark test line.

Hiya

I wouldn’t think it’s ovulation if you are still bleeding. I’ve read before that sometimes your body tries to have a LH surge but that doesn’t lead to ovulation. Especially with people who have PCOS. So maybe it’s a bit like that, your hormones are just balancing or adjusting after 3 years of depo.

Maybe I’m wrong tho, not sure

Hi everyone,
sorry to jump on this thread, new here and not sure how to create my own. Trying to conceive and not sure if this is a positive ovulation test, any thoughts? :)
thanks!

CAA121 · 03/01/2023 23:31

@DBBW yes I would say it’s positive, the left line is stronger than the control line on right :)

Peachyplumm · 04/01/2023 01:37

That’s defo a positive, it’s stronger than the control line :)

Thank you both! Finally a positive ovulation test after six months. I came off the pill a while back and no one ever warns you how long it can take to get your body starting to feel normal! Trying to conceive is hard work especially when your partner works away some of the week :(

CAA121 · 04/01/2023 09:08

@DBBW glad to hear you’ve finally had your positive OPK! Crazy how the pill can mess up cycles and take so long to go back to ‘normal’. My best friend took 5 months to get her cycles back but was very lucky and got pregnant in month 7. Good luck 🤞

I understand how difficult it can be with a partner that works away, my hubby is in the navy. He’s thankfully been land based last 8 months but he goes away today so really hoping he comes back to some good BFP news 🤞

DBBW · 04/01/2023 09:24

It really is mad! Hearing your friends story gives me some hope that it may happen soonish but find it really difficult sometimes as Im not telling people we are trying so getting asked once a week when I'm going to to have a kid is hard.

I’ll have everything crossed for you and fingers crossed you’ll have a BFP very soon.
From a young age you are told, if you have sex you will get pregnant and now I’m sitting here thinking well it’s not that easy for some 😣

CAA121 · 04/01/2023 09:29

@DBBW yeah the questions are difficult to navigate. Christmas was tough due to the constant baby questions around that time of year. My closest friends and parents know which has helped, if they are there when I get asked they’re good at changing the subject for me haha.

Sending you baby dust and lots of luck your BFP comes soon 🤞🤞

Hey guys,

So a lot has happened since my positive ovulation test. Me and partner dtd practically all throughout my ovulation period, and I lay with my legs up for at least 20-30 mins after.

well yesterday at 6dpo I started spotting brown blood, which only ever happened with my last pregnancy. Then this morning I woke up with a blinding migraine - again just like with my last pregnancy where I had one day of an excruciating migraine then just disappeared.

i have no other symptoms. I’m wondering if this is implantation? Seems so early! I was cramping all last night too, but cramping has stopped now. I’m just left with the migraine lingering and feeling a bit sicky (prob from the migraine)

when will I be able to test?

OP posts:
CAA121 · 04/01/2023 16:00

@Peachyplumm ooo I’m similar to you right now with spotting (minus migraine), 7 dpo with mild cramps and discharge is between yellowey light rust colour and once with a tiny speck of pale red (sorry if TMI). I’m pretty sure implantation can occur after 6dpo and can be brown so it may be implantation for you? My fingers are crossed for you that it is! I think early detection pregnancy tests can pick up a couple days before AF due but I’ve never had a positive before so after same advice :)

Peachyplumm · 04/01/2023 16:07

Omg that’s exciting, fingers crossed for you too!
I’ve heard that it takes a few days for the hcg to become detectable after implantation, so I’d usually wait until my period is due but since it’s so early I might test at 10dpo, as that will be 4 days since spotting.

have you had implantation bleeding this early before? My last pregnancy I started spotting at 10dpo so this is all quite intense! Lol

Test at 9/10 dpo 😊 good luck. Sounds very promising x
