Is this ovulation test positive? (Pic)

Hi ladies,

this is my first month ttc. I got some cheap ovulation tests, and was wondering if it’s positive? I took it because I noticed today I had ewcm and I’m usually quite dry otherwise. Also high libido etc.

i have used ovulation tests before but that was to avoid fertile days, so usually the test line for me is quite faint. But not sure if this is strong enough to count as ovulation?

@DBBW also yes I did both tests, clear blue and internet cheapies every day, just so I could see what ‘high’ and ‘peak’ actually looks like on my line darkness and also as like confirmation. So good idea! ☺️

It won’t be happening tonight but hopefully tomorrow and the next day may give me a chance, it’s nice to know my levels may be becoming normal since being off the pill for sometime!
fingers crossed for you, keep me updated! I’ve been symptom spotting for almost 7 months, I swear when I’m in the TWW I just make them up in my head now x

DBBW · 03/02/2023 16:23

@Peachyplumm still getting flashy smiley faces on my clear blue, starting to get fed up as I’m on day 19 of my cycle. Did a cheapo test and it’s not as dark as the control line so don’t think I’m ovulating yet (pic below) 🤷🏼‍♀️! How long did you have flashy smileys for? Xx

@DBBW how many days have you had that? I had it for about 4/5 days. But I didn’t start using the digital till about 20dpo cos I was monitoring with my cheap opks and was waiting to see it get dark before doing digital. I’ve heard some girls have flashing for 10 days before peak!

im 6dpo today, had period like cramps first for a few days after ovulation, now I’m bloated and have heart burn and a (single!) sore left nipple. Very strange but wanted to update! Will be testing on Tuesday at 10dpo x

That makes me feel slightly better, 4th day now so will see what tomorrow brings. That's a really good idea as the clear blue ones are expensive and I feel like I’m just wasting them! I’ll be out this month as my partner is away for the weekend but I’d just love to know I’m actually ovulating so hopefully it will turn static soon.

one single sore nipple kinda sounds like a good sign to me. Let me know how you get on. I love to hear other peoples stories and I’ll have my fingers crossed for you xx

DBBW · 05/02/2023 13:34

@Peachyplumm got my first static smiley today and confirmed it with a cheap ovulation test too! Finally… although it’s day 21 of my cycle so that feels like it’s a bit too late to ovulate?
Will DTD today but then my partner is away for work so I don’t think this month will be my time xx

yayyy congrats!! Sending baby dust your way. You have 24-36 hours after getting your peak before actually ovulating so you defo have a great chance!! I got my peak CD 23, it just depends on each person, I have very irregular periods bc I ovulate late. So you can ovulate any time really! That’s why cycles are very long sometimes. Happy BD’ing! ☺️ X

@DBBW hey how’s it been? Did you get bloods results? I’ve had a hell of a 2ww. I had 2 false positive pregnancy tests with FRER, very upsetting. I’m now 14dpo and expecting AF any moment, I haven’t been temping but I checked this morning and noticed it was super low, so defo means AF coming. So sad!

@Peachyplumm sorry I’ve been meaning to update you but been upset the past couple of days. My first bloods came back normal but my other results said I’m not ovulating and I had to Google them as the doctors won’t speak to me for two weeks so my brain is going into over drive. I did get the static smiley on my clear blue though so I’m just confused :(
2 false positives seems unusual. Are you going to test again? I’ve been reading lots of forums on here since my results and I read someone similar to you and their temp had changed but they went onto have a successful pregnancy so I have my fingers crossed for you that AF isn’t coming. Can completely understand why you are so sad as Ive been crying a lot xx

So sorry to hear that. I am not sure if I’m ovulating either despite getting a static smiley! What are you going to do? So weird they wouldn’t speak to you about it! Surely they’d want to give you some treatment to help you ovulate?

AF still isn’t here and I’m one day late. I bought internet cheapie pregnancy tests and I’m just gonna test them as the days go by. Still negative atm. I really just want to know either way soon, Idc if it’s AF at this point! I hate the not knowing!

They have said they’ll try get a doctor to call me in two weeks and knowing my luck whilst at work I’ll miss it. I don’t really know what else to do as don’t have the money to go private. It’s just upsetting, it may not be important to them but to me it’s my entire life if that makes sense.
I‘m due on soon but hard to know exactly when with my irregular cycles but I guess all I can do is keeping trying each month until the doctors will give me the time of day 😞.
any update with you?
I completely understand, when I had a long cycle I just wanted my AF to turn up as I’d rather that then the constant wondering and testing.
I hope soon you’ll either get a BFP or AF as it’s better to know one way or another xx

Do you have pcos? I have it and my only symptoms are irregular periods and have cysts in there. Because of that I have no idea when I’m ovulating and some months I don’t ovulate. Well I’ve measured my BBT temp for 3 days now and it turns out I haven’t ovulated at all this month either. Even though I also got a static smiley on the digital opk. looks like the digital opk or any opk don’t work with people with pcos! Because all it detects is a LH spike attempting to ovulate, but with pcos it’s not always successful which is why it can be ages till you get a period, and your body keeps trying by sending lh spikes. So annoyed to find that out now after everything!

The cramps I’ve had for the past 2 weeks on and off must just be a symptom of pcos as it can cause pelvic pain sometimes. I only had it once before but I do remember it lasted this long.

I know how you feel that you don’t have the budget for private but there are other things you can do that aren’t necessarily interventions by the doctor. I’ve been looking up ‘ myo-inositol’ a supplement for people with pcos that helps regulate ovulation and actually make it happen. ‘Soy isoflavones’ also seems to be one of them! I thought I’d give it a try cause why not. If you want to, myprotein is having a massive sale right now so I got a big pack of Myo-inositol for £4! (Down from £22).

the docs will get back to you and help you for sure, just be patient ❤️ but in the meantime there’s many options! Despite my periods being like this I actually got pregnant last year (though didn’t take it to full term)

OP posts:
DBBW · 13/02/2023 16:34

I am wondering if perhaps I do have that but never been tested as when I was around 15 the doctors just put me on the pill which regulated my periods and stopped the pain but I think when I eventually do get to speak to them I may ask for some testing if possible as I reckon this could be the case for me also.

Ah, sounds horrible. I don’t have lots of pain like that but I did used to when I was younger to the point where I’d be on the floor crying.

thanks for the tips, I’ll take a look after work tonight to see if there is anything else I can buy. I also went to Holland and Barrets and brought female multiple advanced as it has folic acid along with lots of other stuff that’s meant to balance out hormones and It has b6 which I’ve heard is good to try regulate so will see how it goes! Only been taking them a few days and this is a bit TMI but I’ve never had such yellow wee in my life 😂.

Patience has never been my strong point but that’s all I can do for the time being. It’s nice to chat about it as my partner obviously cares but he has a lot going on work wise too.
Sorry to hear about your loss. It means you eventually did ovulate or it wouldn’t have happened at all. Let’s hope we can both get our bodies ovulating and pregnant by the end of the year 🤞 xx

@Peachyplumm been a little bit since we spoke on here so just wanted to check in to see how you are doing? Xx

Hiya, it’s been a bit of a whirlwind but I think I’ve learned a lot. I finally got my period (on cycle day 55). It’s actually not unusual for me to have a long cycle, I was only thrown off because I got false positives on ovulation tests. I’ve learned it doesn’t really work for people with pcos so won’t be using opk to indicate that again.

I started temping and it did show I ovulated, just quite late, so that was reassuring. So I started focusing on how to just make my cycle shorter, looking up supplements for pcos. They seem to target different things, so just bought a female hormone blood test to see what I need to focus on. results just came back yesterday. Looks like my levels are all normal except for testosterone which is high, and estrogen low. Inositol is the supplement most used for that, so I’ll be started that soon. :) it’s good to have some answers at least, as gp never did a blood test for me, only an ultrasound which showed cysts a few years ago.

How have you been doing? Did you get any results or AF come?

It’s been a big whirlwind here too but I’m glad
your AF finally arrived as sometimes it’s even more torture just waiting for it. The good thing is now you know not to rely on them and I also think I’ll be ditching ovulation tests because they are causing too much stress for me.
i was looking at starting to temp this month, do you have any recommendations of one to buy? I was looking at one that pairs with an app so it records it directly to your phone each time but the reviews are hit and miss.

that’s a really good idea for the blood test, do you mind if I ask where you got it from? I also started taking vitamins but more just overall ones, not for certain levels. I spoke to a doctors finally about my blood and they think the first doctor who booked me in did the dates totally wrong so not reliable so need to start from scratch again.
The past two weeks have been horrible for me if I’m honest, I had implantation bleeding and then got a positive test the day after… a week later I’ve started bleeding heavily and still bleeding now and my tests is now negative so it looks as if I’ve had a chemical pregnancy and I just feel so devastated. On the plus side, I can get pregnant but the down side is I feel emotionally drained and if I do fall pregnant again (who knows when) it’s just terrifying to think it’s going to happen again and get my hopes up

So nice to hear from you as was wondering if you were ok xx

@DBBW I’m so sorry to hear about your loss, but positive news that you can get pregnant. I think it’s a good idea to take vitamins to make sure that everything is balanced. I honestly never thought so much went into it! Yes opk add a lot of stress, I think the less stress the better!

i don’t use a thermometer that connects to an app, but the one I use saves the last reading, so I can take it in the morning and put it away, then later when I’m up I just look at the saved reading and type it in my app. I don’t have to do it immediately etc. i use this one, it’s cheap and does the trick, and it beeps when the reading is done. Honestly doesn’t even need to be backlit amzn.eu/d/7rhjMD3

this was the hormone test I did. It’s a bit pricey but you can search for coupons online x
www.medichecks.com/products/female-hormone-check-blood-test

what’s your luteal phase like? I heard that shorter luteal phases can result in chemicals more (like 10 days ish). If yours is short maybe you can focus on supplements to extend it? Or perhaps blood test from gp can tell you if you have enough progesterone during Luteal phase, as some women need to take shots or pessaries initially to sustain the pregnancy. Might be worth telling and asking gp! Shocking that they’ve been so organised for you

DBBW · 08/03/2023 20:57

@Peachyplumm Ah thank you for sending that through, I’m going to take a look and get one ordered now that my bleeding has stopped I’m going I’ll ovulate eventually again.

I’ll take a look at the hormone test as I’m not sure I’m going to get very far with the doctors. It may be worth the money in the long run.

I think that could be my issue as my cycles are so irregular and my ovulation is all over but I do think I have a shot luteal phase of around ten days and I did read somewhere about certain things that can help so these vitamins I’m taking are meant to help extend the length but who knows!

At the moment, I’ve given up with the doctors and I think once my period arrives again I’ll contact them to get the blood tests booked back in to test my levels and hopefully they’ll do them on the correct dates this time xx
