Preparing to TTC in 2023

Hi,

I'm part of a lovely thread which was started in 2021 for those planning to start TTC in 2022 and it was such a supportive group! we've now seen lots of positives and given each other a lot of support and tips through ups and downs.

I'm now 'pausing' TTC until after my wedding in 2023 and thought it'd be nice to start up a similar thread to see if there is anyone else now prepping and getting excited for next year!

On the last thread everyone introduced themself by saying their age, what they're trying for and when they plan on starting - I'll then keep a list up to date and post so everyone can easily see others who are at the same stage as them!

I'll go first:

Age: 27
TTC no: 1
Starting: Sep 23

Between now and then I'm going to be taking folic acid, try and loose some lbs to get closer to a healthy BMI, save some money in a baby pot and enjoy some 'baby free' activities (i.e., wine, gin, sushi and surfing!). I have endometriosis and PCOS so going to try and get my periods more regular and pain management via diet.

@DanisEndo Well done for eating well and working out! It's been my birthday month and then my gym trainers broke so I'm going to reset in Feb haha. At least I'm still taking all my other vitamins in preparation 😊

@circleinthesands Welcome!! Although it might be more challenging there's still hope 😊 a friend of a friend's sister conceived naturally at 46 and had beautiful and healthy twins! Are you taking vitamins?

@fleur89 Congratulations! Such wonderful news🎊

@Summer022 You DTD the day before your static which is great! And there's still time once you get peak so I think your set. I swear by the Clearblue but I know they aren't for everyone!

Hopefulhoney6 · 28/01/2023 15:33

@Lindsey02 if you’ve still got a peak today, tonight should be good! The closer to ovulation the better, but CD12 should still be your fertile window. Esp if you’ve had EWCM!

Tbark · 28/01/2023 16:33

Hi all, i hope its ok to post on this thread.

I took a little break from.here as I was getting far too obsessed over symptom spotting but I need people's opinions and couldn't think of a better place to ask :)

I'm 12 dpo and have been having some symptoms but let's be honest ever since ttc I've managed to symptoms spot most months haha. I was tidying up today and had a random opk lying about so I peed on it just because and it came up super dark! I then peed on one of the cheaper hcg sticks that came in the pack as it came with about 40 and I swear I can see a line.....but worried it may be an indent as I've read that a lot on this page over the last few months! I just need to know if I'm going mad or if anyone else can squint and see a line?!

Lindsey02 · 28/01/2023 16:39

@Tbark I can def see a line!! Sorry are the hcg ovulation tests or ovulation test? X

Tbark · 28/01/2023 16:44

@Lindsey02 sorry I didn't explain myself very well.....think I'm just freaking out haha. The test on the blue wrapper with the darkest line is an ovulation test (opk) the one on the pink is a hcg pregnancy test. That's the one I'm trying to decide if it's an indent or a faint positive xx

Lindsey02 · 28/01/2023 16:56

@Tbark sorry it’s me I’ve not seen the hcg ones before. To me it looks like a line and pretty clear really. Does it feel dented?

Tbark · 28/01/2023 17:04

@Lindsey02 that's OK, I'd not seen them before I ordered this brand before, they came with the OPKs! No it doesn't feel dented....I think maybe I just need to test in the morning again to see if the line is darker. I don't want to waste money on digital tests if its an indent or chemical.....I can't help but not believe it hahah!

Lindsey02 · 28/01/2023 17:26

@Tbark fingers crossed for you hun xx keep me updated x

Wonkyjelly · 28/01/2023 17:35

@Tbark thats 100% a positive pink pregnancy test. I use them and that’s not an indent - it’s a faint BFP with plenty of colour to it! Congratulations - grab a frer to put your mind at rest. ✨🤗

Tbark · 28/01/2023 17:46

@Wonkyjelly thank you for the positive message! I've obviously done a horrendous amount of googling since I got the line came up and now I'm panicking that it is quite light for 12dpo. I think I may repeat it in the morning and then get a FRER if it's darker by the morning. Don't think I can quite tell the hubby yet as I don't quite trust it 🤣 xx

Wonkyjelly · 28/01/2023 18:33

I think it’s about right on a cheapie for 12dpo personally. I was 12 dpo with my second when I tested positive. And remember you can roughly estimate your ovulation but you can have late implantation 🤗 I know the feeling you’ll be having of not getting too excited, but I have everything crossed you get a darker line in a couple of days. X

Keep repeating every few days, this is from my first - I took a test every day 😂 There were 4 negatives in the days running up to the one at the top, turns out I was positive the whole time but my hormones hadn't yet risen enough to create a line.

Love seeing all these BFP’s!! 💖

I had a peak smiley on my CB opk yesterday but negative on the cheapies. When I ejected the CB from the holder, the little window where the lines are was flooded with blue so it must have meant it wasn’t correct, I may have left it in slightly more than the 15 seconds. I have done a cheapie this evening which was negative but much darker than yesterday, so I’m hoping my peak is on its way. Taking its time this month as I’m currently CD16 😩 Are cheapie strips known for gradually getting darker as the LH rises, or are they supposed to find just your peak?

fleur89 · 28/01/2023 20:02

Also, you can see the line fluctuates a bit each time as I took the tests at different times of the day, different levels of hydration, etc.

Tbark · 28/01/2023 20:24

Thanks @fleur89 ! If you don't mind me asking, when did you ever use a clear blue or a.digital to triple check and if so at how many days after your positives above? Xx

I used clear blue digital the same day I got my first definite faint positive (the one at the top).

Today I just found out I'm pregnant again, my daughter is 11 months old (the one from the strip of test sticks 😂). I tested for the first time today as thought I had implantation bleeding, looked the same as with DD1. I hadn't yet had a period so it was a surprise! A nice one though as we planned to start trying once my period came back. The test strip floating at the top is from today (11am), I took a clear blue digital test a few hours later (1pm)

Many congratulations to you too 🎉 I'd have done the same and bought a digital asap to double check - actually that's literally what I did today 😂 Let's hope these little ones stick for us 🙏

If all goes to plan they will be ~18 months or so apart, I'm exhausted just thinking about it 😆 ❤️

I’ve just been daydreaming about the future. I can’t see myself with a teenager or an adult child. I know that’s easily 15 years away, but I just cannot see myself navigating those issues. Waiting up till late for someone to come in. Navigating boyfriend/girlfriend dramas. Paying another mobile phone bill. Paying for residential trips abroad. Dealing with the hormones 😂

Someone tell me IABU! I just cannot envisage it, haha. I can see myself with a baby and a toddler and a child until the end of primary but then what?! I know we will be older and more weathered parents by then, but it’s just such a crazy thought. Anyone else?

Lindsey02 · 29/01/2023 09:39

I totally get you! Whilst I can't 'see myself' as a parent to teenagers/adults, I also can't see myself as a 50yo and what I'll be like, where I'll be, what I'll be doing for a living. I guess we just have to ride that wave!

Hi all. Nice to see so many have had bfps since I was last here. Congratulations!

We were planning to wait to try until spring due to some travel and work things, and wanting our 18 m.o. boy to be a bit older (trying for 2nd baby). But we threw caution to the wind and went for it last night lol. Only day 6 of my cycle, but I tend to ovulate on day 11 due to short cycle (first time i got pregnant was day 7 or 8- we thought we were taking a break that month from charting etc after months of stressful ttc, then presto!) So I guess I'm in it for this month and feeling a tiny bit hopeful, though I know it's unlikely. I doubt we'll try again unprotected until we agreed to actually start in spring.

Any other early ovulators/short cycle ladies here?
