Preparing to TTC in 2023

DanisEndo · 31/10/2022 09:36

Hi,

I'm part of a lovely thread which was started in 2021 for those planning to start TTC in 2022 and it was such a supportive group! we've now seen lots of positives and given each other a lot of support and tips through ups and downs.

I'm now 'pausing' TTC until after my wedding in 2023 and thought it'd be nice to start up a similar thread to see if there is anyone else now prepping and getting excited for next year!

On the last thread everyone introduced themself by saying their age, what they're trying for and when they plan on starting - I'll then keep a list up to date and post so everyone can easily see others who are at the same stage as them!

I'll go first:

Age: 27
TTC no: 1
Starting: Sep 23

Between now and then I'm going to be taking folic acid, try and loose some lbs to get closer to a healthy BMI, save some money in a baby pot and enjoy some 'baby free' activities (i.e., wine, gin, sushi and surfing!). I have endometriosis and PCOS so going to try and get my periods more regular and pain management via diet.

@LeopardLover I really will !! 😂 I get really itchy feet if i dont have a few things on the go + a healthy to do list to work through. Although i anticipate a newborn comes with plenty to do 😂😍 even thinking about the busy stressful smelly crying tired parts gives me butterflies! I want it so much!

@DanisEndo huge congrats! It sounds like everything is lining up perfectly for you.

@LeopardLover Ive just finished ‘it starts with the egg’ too and found it really interesting. I’ve bought some glass containers to replace our old plastic ones (Aldi special buy!) and DH has started taking folate as well (he previously discounted it as ‘something for women’).

We’re both doing dry Jan, and normally DH doesn’t stick to it, but he went for lunch with work today and didn’t drink because ‘he knows how important health is for fertility’. I was so happy, he’s really getting into it all now.

LeopardLover · 13/01/2023 16:55

@DanisEndo There is one super mum in our NCT course who is still doing ALL the things so you'll probably be like her! 😍 So cute. It's true, it's exhausting but so incredible! I loved being pregnant too.

@Mushroo Oh it's so lovely that your DH is getting really into it. I love glass storage! I guess I need to stop buying prepackaged meals in plastic too 🙈

Betsy21 · 13/01/2023 17:11

Hi all 😀A bit of a long one here, please bare with me. Currently on cycle 1 of TTC with PCOS. I am hoping someone may be able to shed some light please.
I had bloods done on 23rd December due to my PCOS, they measured my PCOS and progesterone levels, however I'm slightly confused.
When they took my progesterone levels on 23rd Dec they stated I was borderline ovulating and advised to get some further tests done (1 week before my next period) I'm due these bloods next Friday. My period in December was 6-8th December and Flo app states my ovulation phase was 10th - 19th Dec (ovulation day the 17th). Is it possible I ovulated late?
My Jan period was 1st - 4th with ovulating phase of 8th - 14th (ovulating day being today the 13th). I've been taking OPK's since the 9th and these are all coming back low and yet to reach peak.
Again is it possible I am ovulating later or is this just my PCOS playing up?
Thanks!

Hopefulhoney6 · 13/01/2023 17:43

@Betsy21 quick response as I am rushing out…. But I had my period on the 1st too and I ovulate on day 18 (regular 28 day cycles no PCOS), so a chance you could be ovulating late. But OPKs don’t always show you’re ovulating. even if you get a peak, with PCOS you still might not ovulate.
I do BBT as well and the temp rise is a way of confirming you did ovulate retrospectively so might be something to try xx

Hopefulhoney6 · 13/01/2023 17:44

@Betsy21 so what I meant to say is that I haven’t got a peak on OPKs yet either (I’m using clear blue advanced and I have started getting highs from yesterday).

Hopingforno2in2023 · 14/01/2023 06:45

CD1 today and am going to BBT to confirm ovulation this month so hopefully by the end of January I will have my AMH results, fatigue results and confirmation of ovulation and can feel confident that all is well with me before booking the reversal.

LightHousePanda · 14/01/2023 09:45

On the holiday question. I hope to book a holiday this year but just in the UK. I have a 1-year-old so can't face taking a flight anywhere. If you're trying for baby no. 1 I'd say definitely go abroad and have a nice holiday that's not going to be as easy when you have a baby.

misslomi · 14/01/2023 16:20

Can I join please?

We had a miscarriage in August 2022 and we are now TTC starting today!

So excited for the future!

Thank you for the response it's been really helpful. I have regular cycles with the average length being 26 days, I thought because I had a regular cycle that the OPKs may work since they were regular.

I shall look in to the temperature checks, thank you xx

Just checking in — now is the time I should remove my coil in order to be fertile in March but we’re not ready. I was really excited to know that the night of our civil partnership was the first night of trying 😔

My partner started smoking (he was an ex-smoker) during a stressful period last year for three months and then continued vaping and has really struggled to give it up. Raising children in a smoke free home is important to both of us so it’s not the right time yet. He’s only vaped once since Christmas Eve so hopefully it won’t be too long

TunnocksTCake · 16/01/2023 10:58

@LongDistanceLife what a shame you are going to have to push it back, but that sounds like the best plan for you. The only thing I would suggest is maybe getting the coil removed anyway and using condoms/ other non hormonal methods, as it can take a while for your cycle to get back to normal after it is removed, mine was wonky for 4/5 months after and I found it so frustrating! Also then you will have a few months to get used to your cycle and you will know exactly when you are fertile when the time comes!

I am now in the TWW, had a peak OPK on Friday and managed to DTD Tues, Thurs, Fri and Sunday so hopefully we are pretty well covered. I hate this bit, it will be the longest 2 weeks 😤

lottie198 · 16/01/2023 10:58

Hi I'd love to join !
We have decided to start trying for our second around sept/October 2023. Our first baby is 1 years old and was conceived via IVF. There is a possibility of natural pregnancy although chances are lower. I have pcos and my partner has a low sperm count. We want to try for 1-2 years before thinking about IVF again. I am 26, will be 27 in March.

@DanisEndo I'm 14 weeks Wednesday as have had my due date changed a few times, so now it's sticking to the 19th July. Sickness is still here but subsided lots. Appetite is normal and don't seem to be ridiculously hungry. Some days I have a bump and other days my tummy is pretty flat. I seemed to show more with my last baby. Boobs are no longer tender, but nipples are and i'm producing a bit of yellow clear liquid, but I did breastfeed a total of 3 years and had an over supply with the last one. Sleeping great and have stopped needing to get up in the night for a wee. 2nd trimester is ok so far, but a bit emotional.

babybrainfart · 16/01/2023 12:21

@lottie198 good luck and sticky baby dust

CRbear · 16/01/2023 12:29

Hi everyone! I’m now 11DPO. For all my big talk I did test yesterday and it was negative but I’m committed to waiting until Friday now! It’s so hard to think about anything else. Keep wondering if there’s a baby in there!

Very good advice but I know us and we’ll just end up not using condoms because we both really want a pregnancy.

Really hopeful for you 🤞🏻— I hope the TWW goes quickly!

DanisEndo · 16/01/2023 14:46

@Mushroo it really feels like it!! (knock on wood..) Ahhhh its so lovely your DH is getting into it!

@LeopardLover ahaha I can dream but i suspect I'll have some days where im fine with getting out for a walk being the biggest accomplishment 😂Pregnancy scares me more than parenthood at the moment if that makes sense and im not sure why. I think all the sickness, so much being out of your control and still a level of society expecting you to just get on with it scares me.

@babybrainfart sounds like you're getting on fantastically, cant believe how quickly time has flown by already. Hope the sickness continues to subside and the sleep continues to thrive!

Hey all! Happy Blue Monday!

im 12DPO- have been CONVINCED this is our month- I’ve had weird symptoms:
bad cramping, shooting pain in my hips, sore BBS, lower back ache to name a few…. So yeah convinced, been stroking my tummy THE LOT- like I felt pregnant.

done a early response this morning and it was negative- now I don’t feel pregnant anymore… isn’t it crazy what the mind can do!

x

@DanisEndo you've put my due date as July 2024, I hope to give birth in July 2023 if I could. That sounds like one hell of a long pregnancy otherwise 😂

No book an abroad holiday! You don't pay for a full seat until they're 2 so make the most of it! We took our little girl on a 4.5 hour flight when she was 4, 8 and 13 months. Worth it when you get there.

buckingmad · 17/01/2023 12:42

Was hoping to start TTC in Jan but pushed it back a month as I'm umming and ahhing about a new job. Hope to have a better idea before my next ovulation which will be in about 3-4 weeks.

Age: 28
TTC #2

Betsy21 · 17/01/2023 17:41

How do you all motivate yourselves to DTD? Today's my ovulation day and I have zero motivation

Mushroo · 17/01/2023 20:26

@Betsy21 😂 I’m normally a lot more in the mood when I’m ovulating so that helps.

Also I find taking a shower, having a bit of a pamper beforehand can get me in the mood. Generally though, we wouldn’t normally DTD in the week so it is a bit of a concerted effort to add it to the routine.
