Preparing to TTC in 2023

Hi,

I'm part of a lovely thread which was started in 2021 for those planning to start TTC in 2022 and it was such a supportive group! we've now seen lots of positives and given each other a lot of support and tips through ups and downs.

I'm now 'pausing' TTC until after my wedding in 2023 and thought it'd be nice to start up a similar thread to see if there is anyone else now prepping and getting excited for next year!

On the last thread everyone introduced themself by saying their age, what they're trying for and when they plan on starting - I'll then keep a list up to date and post so everyone can easily see others who are at the same stage as them!

I'll go first:

Age: 27
TTC no: 1
Starting: Sep 23

Between now and then I'm going to be taking folic acid, try and loose some lbs to get closer to a healthy BMI, save some money in a baby pot and enjoy some 'baby free' activities (i.e., wine, gin, sushi and surfing!). I have endometriosis and PCOS so going to try and get my periods more regular and pain management via diet.

@Mushroo Thanks, that's reassuring! So it's more that it would be horrible to have to deal with a miscarriage if it happened while flying than that it increases the risks in any way?

Random, but I’ve seen the most adorable unisex sleepsuit on Vinted, it’s new with tags. I’d love to get it as a little token of the beginning of the journey, I wouldn’t go overboard and buy loads but then on the other hand it could be said to be tempting fate. And maybe it’s weird! 😅

Is anyone else drawn in by the baby aisle in supermarkets?

@happyfeet5 I have a few children's books that I've bought at various points over the past couple of years, I think before I was even consciously thinking about it. I think I'd be scared to buy a babygro because that would feel more of a pressure to have around than some books.. But I have been lingering a bit in the relevant aisles yes!

I keep looking at stuff happy especially was we are more financially secure this time but I won’t buy anything until 12 week scan happens (if we are lucky enough to conceive).

I can definitely see a line on that one too!

Today I'm in a big old grump - I'd talked myself into thinking my one day wonder at the start of the month was my first AF after my coil came out (light, but I always had been pre-coil so hardly a surprise). Maybe it was, but it's back again today which has made me dead sad about my optimism that I had the beginnings of a sort of regular cycle post-coil :(

So, in a bid to better understand my fertility and cycles, I hope someone more knowledgable than me can advise on these ovulation signs

I don’t know when I’ve ovulated, basically, as I’ve just come off the pill. I had my withdrawal bleed on Dec 27th, so this is day 15. I believe my cycles should be 28/29 days, as this is what they were the last time I had a break from the pill.
I have an app to track my cycles and it was predicting ovulation for yesterday obviously as that’s day 14. I am just not sure how I’d know if I did ovulate?
On Day 12 I had a sharp pain for maybe 10 seconds at the left hand side, no discharge or other symptoms so might’ve been unrelated. Yesterday on day 14 I had pink spotting and a headache all day, then in the evening a little bit of EWCM. Today (15) I’ve had more EWCM. Sorry for TMI but it hasn’t been there all day, only this evening

So my questions are:
Based on this could anyone have a guess at when I might have ovulated? Does it sound like it was yesterday? Can EWCM be present after ovulation or is it only the same day?

Not trying this month just trying to get to grips with it all!

EWCM usually in the run up to ovulation @happyfeet5 but can be a bit random. Unfortunately without temping there’s no way to guarantee you ovulated.

Agree with @CRbear - EWCM is normally in the run up to ovulation so I’d say it could have been today or might happen tomorrow.

At the moment, the app is just guessing based on an average woman, so don’t go by that.

I’ve found having been off the pill for around 18 months, I tend to just know roughly when I ovulate, based on a mix of how I’m feeling, EWCM and my heart rate on my Fitbit.

I have longish cycles so I normally ovulate around day 19.

I had absolutely no change to cm when ovulating after getting the coil out so I used a clearblue OPK and got my BFP cycle 1 😊

Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing ok on this crazy rollercoaster journey!

we’ve been ttc since late august, had a chemical pregnancy in September and nothing since. Got some blood results back from the GP this week that suggest I have PCOS so I’ve been stressing about that!!

just got home from work and done this test on a whim, fully expecting BFN……omg I am literally in shock!!!! Chucked my pee straight away as well or I’d do another 50 😂
haven’t even told my partner yet, he’s on nights as well and I feel bad waking him up 😂

definitely thrilled but also terrified, I have one FRER so I’m going to use that when I wake up this afternoon as technically that will be my FMU.

Hey, congrats to those already successful. I'm going to be ttc in 2023.

TTC no: 2
Starting: June 23
(My first is a summer baby so hoping for a spring baby this time though don't know if we'll be as lucky as last time which was just 2 cycles for success)

TTC for 7th cycle now after a surprise pregnancy (and miscarriage at 9 weeks 😔) last year made me realise how much I want to get pregnant (even though my morning sickness was awful!) I thought it would be super easy as the first time was a fluke and getting a bit disheartened by all the BFNs 😞 but keeping fingers crossed for everyone this year!
