SMEP - anyone giving this a try this month and want to join me?

New to mumsnet 🙋‍♀️ and I've seen loads of threads where everyone is so lovely and supportive so thought I'd post. This is our 4th cycle ttc #2, 1st cycle giving SMEP a try as I've seen so many success stories. With our first, we got so lucky and ended up pregnant on our first month trying so this waiting is a bit of a shock, although I know out 1st was the exception not the norm! Would love to hear any success stories, or any other ladies that want to compare notes this month x

@allgoodthings84 oh yes I remember you saying now. I also remember I and few others said it should be fine :) enjoy yourself, that'll be two days where youll be suitably distracted from all this ttc malarkey!

@NatGee hopefully so but these days I feel it’s not going to happen until I sort the issue that is causing the spotting before AF anyway so I won’t be thinking about it too much in the 2ww.

My partner says the same. He wants to wait 5-7 days after AF due before testing just to be sure even though I’ve explained to him if I don’t come on day AF due then I’m pregnant or something is wrong as I ALWAYS come on 13 days after ovulation without fail. If I don’t start spotting in 10dpo I think that will give me an inkling anyway but then again I don’t know if I will still spot even if pregnant but no AF. I guess that depends on the cause of the spotting

So I don’t know what’s happening. I’ve not missed my peak before. I’m going to hold until 8pm then do another test but it’s really confused me. I’ve had EWCM since Tuesday

@allgoodthings84 i want to help but I hate that app with every inch of my being. Do you also use a CB OPK? personally that is my main tracker, with the strips as back up

@NatGee nope I really don’t want to get the CB ones as they are so expensive and these have always worked perfectly before. I know I might be in this for the long haul so need the cheaper option at the moment

@NatGee - is your DH my DH?! He literally said last night 'well what's the actual point in testing? If you don't get a period you're pregnant and if you do, you know then too' 😅 I wish my thoughts were so simple!
I'm going to wait until Sunday to test. I'm dreading the BFN, so at the moment actually quite enjoying the not knowing. I'm totally confused by my cycle. I've only actually used OPKs for two cycles. Prior to this always just relied on the Flo app, but after months of unsuccessful hoping for the best, thought I better put more effort in. First month of OPK, ovulated on the day Flo said I would and AF arrived on the day Flo said it would so I thought, well, pretty typical cycle over here. This cycle, ovulation was way later and no no sign of AF. Obviously can't know if I've ever ovulated this late before and am now late or if this is a completely out of normal cycle and AF is just around the corner. Only time will tell... 😬

@allgoodthings84, sorry ovulation is likely falling at the worst time for dtd! Isn't that always the way?! Hope you enjoy the wedding at least! Least you can have a fizz or two without any worry!

I think we all get a weird, longer cycle here and there. The first one after starting ttc was like that thankfully I knew a lot less than I do now and was super relaxed about the entire thing. The story would be very different if it were to happen now
Is the flo app worth it ?

@fsr111 no drinking for me unfortunately I’ve got to drive home after to get my daughter back early the next morning to see her dad as it’s his weekend this weekend but she’s with me for the wedding. The wedding isn’t local

@NatGee, nah, not compared to actual scientific body-testing stuff! Definitely not getting my hopes up for this cycle, just sort of want AF to arrive so I can move on! DH sick of me talking about it. Any one else's DPs get like this? I struggle because it's on my mind so much, but also aware I'm like a broken record at the moment

@fsr111 yes! My partner is getting very fed up with it even though I’m the one doing all the testing etc. he really wants a baby but I think he thought it would be easy. He doesn’t even think about the 2ww as soon as I’ve ovulated he stops thinking about it. I think the planned sex is taking a toll on him too to be honest.

@NatGee we are saving for a new house before a baby arrives so every penny counts. Weirdly it’s back up to 0.64 now. It’s nearly as dark as the test line so I’m ignoring the numbers but it’s not a positive. No idea if it was a false start for the surge earlier or if my urine was too concentrated or something even though I stopped drinking and had a hold same length of time as always. I’ll know tomorrow/Sunday if my resting heart rate goes 60bpm or over that I have ovulated so it’s not the end of the world I just like seeing those 2 dark lines 😂. I’ve definitely had EWCM and my LH levels are doing something so maybe I’m just going to miss this peak. My resting heart rate has gone up by 2bpm in the last few days which usually means ovulation is coming then it goes up again after ovulation

@NSx No we didn't follow it to a T. We ended up DTD all 3 days before ovulation and on ovulation day so it was 4 days in a row but we didn't do day after

@allgoodthings84 it only takes once and last night and CD10 will still count. Have you tested this morning?

@fsr111 yeah for sure, DH doesn't even respond anymore, all I get is silence 🤣 thank the gods for you gals 🥰
I agree, apps can aid but nothing beats getting to know your body

@allgoodthings84 I concur as long as you dtd a couple of times during this period you should be ok! Hope you have a fab time

I am feeling positively deflated as bbt is steadily dropping 😟Funnily enough at this point of my last cycle my bbt was super high, and obviously I didn't fall.
I feel like testing will just be a waste of an frer....

@NatGee, sorry temp is dropping. I think i would hate that about BBT. I ended up testing this morning. Am working today and decided if it was a BFN, it could ruin my day at work, rather than ruin my day off tomorrow. Anyway, BFN it was so looks like I'm definitely out. Hoping AF arrives soon so I can just move on to the next cycle... 😑

@fsr111 oh no 😢 bfns are THE worst I'm sorry to hear.... When's your af due ? Like you say at least you know now. Onto the next one ! x

i did another test at 11.30pm before bed and it was a peak reading. Not sure if it was my actual peak but it was over 1 this mornings was lower so it happened between 5pm and this morning. I also had ovulation pain starting around midnight time for about an hour or so which I tend to get just before ovulation and my resting heart rate has gone up so think maybe I ovulated early this morning. If not will be some point today. I think I ovulate pretty quickly after my peak

We are off to have a breakfast buffet for brunch shortly as the wedding meal won’t be until after 5 and no way will my 7 year old wait until then with no food since her early breakfast. I will be WAY over my calories today but it’s a treat day so sod it

@NatGee I'm feeling ok thanks. I've had a bit of nausea this morning and notice I need to eat much sooner after getting up but that's it really. Still feels so surreal and weird having this massive secret that no one else knows

Sorry to hear your bbt is dropping. How many dpo are you again? I checked my HR from my Apple Watch and mine is gradually been going up this week which is interesting. I know it tends to when your pregnant

@allgoodthings84, I'm now 13/14dpo. Only have the OPK peak to go on so don't know absolutely exactly. @NatGee, expecting AF anytime...! When is yours due again? Beginning of next week? Are you going to test tomorrow or hold on for now?

@allgoodthings84 sounds like it and that's no bad thing. Enjoy yourself today hope your dd has a great time and you'll be back on it tomorrow. Besides the best days to dtd are before ovulation anyway so it's onto your tww now. Hope this is your cycle 🙏🏽

@EdinburghGirl1 not too bad then, did you get morning sickness with your first ? When will you start letting family and friends know ? I am pretty certain ill tell my cousin and sister pretty much off the bat because I'm close to them and no longer have my mum

I'm sorry it's been going down too, 12dpo today and zero symptoms. Well, actually, my boots have gotten sore but I don't want to think about it as it could be af.
I'm tracking my resting heart rate too and yes it's meant to progressively increase with your pregnancy, it is really interesting isn't it? All these things we are never taught in school

@fsr111 oh I think I'll just wait for af now... everything is pointing to a bfn (lowering bbt and my heart rate has decreased too) so yeah, prepping for the next cycle!
Will still smep, but will add pressed to my routine. I tried the fertilily but did not like it one bit. Shame cos its so expensive lol only got two uses out of it

@fsr111 @NatGee until AF is here you’re not out. That couple days before AF is the worst bit I think.

I’ll count today as ovulation day as everything suggests that but I’ll still dtd tomorrow night too in case it’s tomorrow as I can’t test again today to check on it. Then I know not to get excited if AF doesn’t come on 16th as it could be 17th depending but won’t be any later if it’s going to arrive. As well as ttc I love knowing when AF is coming so can be prepared

@EdinburghGirl1 did you DTD before those 4 days ? I’m considering doing the same as when I fell pregnant in feb I dtd 2 days before ovulation and ovulation … I’m not sure how to approach it this month 😂😂😂
