New to mumsnet 🙋‍♀️ and I've seen loads of threads where everyone is so lovely and supportive so thought I'd post. This is our 4th cycle ttc #2, 1st cycle giving SMEP a try as I've seen so many success stories. With our first, we got so lucky and ended up pregnant on our first month trying so this waiting is a bit of a shock, although I know out 1st was the exception not the norm! Would love to hear any success stories, or any other ladies that want to compare notes this month x

Hey ladies -
so just got back from the GPs - positive experience atleast. Got my bloods drawn, so she’s checking for all hormone levels … I asked about Vit D she said everyone has a deficiency In Scotland and should take supplements.
I also managed to get her to book me in for day 21 bloods on the 19th to confirm ovulation.
so fingers crossed everything is ok 🤞 and atleast I can have a bit of peace of mind.

how is everyone? X

NatGee · 01/09/2022 15:33

@NSx really? did you know that? I am a little surprised in all honesty. if that's the case are people told? In scandinavian countries, everyone eats these vit d gummy bears everyday because of the long winters, including children. My GP said low vit d impacts on vit e metabolisation as well. will they still check your bloods for it? the good thing is you cant overdose
I am glad everything went well, its always nice to have a good experience at the doctors xx

NSx · 01/09/2022 15:40

@NatGee nope I didn’t know -
she said they were advertising about it during covid - but I wasn’t in the UK at that point, I was still living in the UAE so I defo didn’t see it. 😂
I lived in the Middle East for 9 years up until November last year so not sure if my vitamin d levels are low but I’m going to get some supplements anyways.
I asked her to check don’t know if she will or won’t but will check with my results next week.
I’m just glad she booked me in for my day 21 bloods because it means atleast I will know for definite if my body is ovulating again instead of just guess work on charts 😂😂 x

EdinburghGirl1 · 01/09/2022 15:56

@NSx that's good you had a positive experience and are booked in for day 21. I did know about vitamin D. It's recommended everyone take a supplement especially in the winter. I take a multi vitamin as does my DD so got it covered with that

NSx · 01/09/2022 15:58

@EdinburghGirl1 do u know what dosage we should take, I just asked the pharmacist in my work she said normally 400 but I’m not sure if that’s what you get with a multi vit?

EdinburghGirl1 · 01/09/2022 16:05

@NSx I think it's 10mcg which is 400 IU and I'm sure you get that in a multi vitamin. I checked pregnacare and it's double that

Mum2DD89 · 01/09/2022 16:18

@NSx aw thats great you had a good experience, and so nice your GP actually listened to you!

@Mum2DD89 yes hopefully ill get some positive news that all is well 🤞…
when will you test ? I’m waiting tentatively for your good news I have a good feeling x

EdinburghGirl1 · 01/09/2022 16:26

@NSx if you take pregnacare id say you're covered but could always ask next time

NSx · 01/09/2022 16:27

@EdinburghGirl1 thank you, how u feeling today?

EdinburghGirl1 · 01/09/2022 16:37

@NSx I'm ok thanks. Was a bit nauseous this morning and feeling tired this afternoon. Can't wait to chill later. Starting to feel a bit more real now as got first midwife appointment and scan all booked today

NSx · 01/09/2022 16:40

@EdinburghGirl1 how exciting 🎉💜 that’s lovely to hear

allgoodthings84 · 01/09/2022 17:20

@EdinburghGirl1 how exciting!!

allgoodthings84 · 01/09/2022 17:25

Sakes I think I’m going to peak tomorrow tomorrow 😩😩 which means ovulation on the one and only day all cycle we cannot dtd

I’ve attached this cycle and last cycle’s opk’s so you can see how it’s following same pattern this cycle (the cycle before was covid month and one before that surged the same ways but peaked CD13) so I know it’s going to be tomorrow which is so annoying. Oh well we will dtd tonight and tomorrow night and Sunday night and hope for the best

I really hope ovulating CD12 isn’t an issue. I don’t think it is as later than the 10 days they consider short

allgoodthings84 · 01/09/2022 17:27

At least I’m regular 😂

NatGee · 01/09/2022 17:38

@allgoodthings84 i think you have your bases covered with your plan
rooting for you xx

allgoodthings84 · 01/09/2022 17:47

@NatGee I hope so. It’s a shame I can’t do ovulation day itself but I can’t change life. It’s the wedding of my partners cousin so is what it is

NSx · 01/09/2022 17:56

@allgoodthings84 i think before ovulation is more important than the day itself - you want the sperm waiting for the egg to be released, I wouldn’t stress too much 🤗

allgoodthings84 · 01/09/2022 18:14

@NSx nah I’m not going to stress as I’m not expecting anything anyway because of my spotting before AF issues. At least hopefully can find out why soon

NSx · 01/09/2022 18:59

How many days before AF do you spot? I read somewhere a few days can be normal? @allgoodthings84

EdinburghGirl1 · 01/09/2022 19:22

@allgoodthings84 I ovulated on CD12 last month so clearly wasn't a problem

allgoodthings84 · 01/09/2022 20:11

@NSx i think it’s normal as in not a danger but depending on why it’s happening will depend if it’s an issue for ttc. If it’s a because of a hormone imbalance like progesterone dropping or estrogen rising too much in the LP it could possibly be a problem. Might not be that though of course. My resting HR doesn’t start to drop until 2 days before AF and doesn’t fully drop until the middle/end of AF. I start to spot CD10 and AF starts CD13 so 3 days of spotting. It’s so light I wouldn’t know if I didn’t look at the toilet paper though as never get in in my knickers and it’s not every time I wipe. I could have had it for years without realising as I never used to look at toilet paper when wiping but was made aware of it at my smear last September by the nurse. It wasn’t even enough to invalidate the test so very light but it’s still there so surely my lining starting to come away at 10dpo isn’t a great sign? She said it was fine and normal but I wasn’t ttc then so I wasn’t bothered once she said that
