SMEP - anyone giving this a try this month and want to join me?

New to mumsnet 🙋‍♀️ and I've seen loads of threads where everyone is so lovely and supportive so thought I'd post. This is our 4th cycle ttc #2, 1st cycle giving SMEP a try as I've seen so many success stories. With our first, we got so lucky and ended up pregnant on our first month trying so this waiting is a bit of a shock, although I know out 1st was the exception not the norm! Would love to hear any success stories, or any other ladies that want to compare notes this month x

Wow sorry for that super long post! I feel better already knowing I’m at least going to get the first discussion so even if I have to wait another 3 months. Although I’m hoping bloods can be done at least as I used to have the serious deficiency

@Aurora81 yes I think I will do the same next cycle as SMEP hasn’t worked so far 😅 so maybe do a sperm hold, before ttc alternate days just before ovulation maybe? i don’t know 🤷‍♀️ 😅💜 wish we knew all the answers

@allgoodthings84 they will check all your bloods etc, would your OH also go for tests or is that not an option? im just thinking of every possibility however I suspect there is nothing wrong at all, I think TTC is just one of these things - a bit hit and miss and unpredictable 😩 .. ur not out yet until AF shows anyways 💕🤞

@NSx if they recommended he had tests then he would as he really does want a baby. He would be gutted if it’s him but he would definitely want to find out. I wouldn’t even consider calling the doctors yet or thinking something could be wrong if it wasn’t for the spotting issue. Knowing my luck now I’ve set the cogs in motion I’ll get pregnant next cycle 😂 but that would be a great thing obviously

@NSx I’ve already warned him that he may need to have tests and he said as long as it’s not right after SMEP days 😂

@allgoodthings84 honestly I think it will be absolutely fine 🤞💜 I see people in my work who are trying for a baby for a year and eventually do get pregnant - and some are like in their twenties, so I think it comes to u when it’s meant to, even tho the wait kills us 😭😭😭😭 ttc is hard.
im glad your man is onboard for testing just Incase, has he ever tried the at home sperm tests u get? My fiancé tried one the first time around before we ttc just to make sure sperm count was good? All was fine ✨🤞

@NSx thank you for reading and helping put my mind at ease. I’m glad I listened to you all on here saying to just call and see what happens. Ooo I’ve not heard of those. Where can you get them? We both had covid early last month though so probably best for him to not take one for a couple months in case?

@allgoodthings84 no problem, we’re all going through this and we all have our worries and concerns, so sometimes it’s nice to get reassurance 💜

yes I do think covid is not great for ttc I remember I got my vaccines and they delayed my AF a lot, so it can’t be good.

it was the conceive + male fertility test it’s like £25 or something, would be worthwhile for your partners piece of mind more than anything 💕

@NSx ha ha at least it may help others too. I will mention that to him thank you. The vaccines didn’t change my cycles but covid itself made me ovulate nearly a week late which was last cycle (not this one just ending) this one was back to normal so didn’t seem to affect me for long but who knows what it’s done to the swimmers.

why do I have to be such an overthinker 😂

@allgoodthings84 we all over think things it’s normal, I mean I let my mind take me to the weirdest places at times but I have to reign it in a bit. 😂😃

Ok ladies, 1dpo today so the tww begins for us. Its all in nature's hands now! We're off to Portugal this weekend so I'll focus on that now. Hope to hold off from testing until at least 14dpo. Let's see. Baby dust to you all 🌌

@NatGee welcome to your tww. A holiday will definitely give you something to focus on and should help you relax during this tww

11 dpo and this happened... Massive temp dip to just above the coverline 😰

@Aurora81 just realised u tested at 10dpo, but still time ✨💕 it’s still early this might be an implantation dip xx

@NSx @NatGee I thought AF would arrive, but it didn't. I walked to work this morning and I had a tiny bit of spotting on my pantyliner, about the size of a small pea when I checked. Nothing since... 🤷🏻‍♀️
Definitely not testing for another 2 days, well AF might arrive before that... This has been a weird cycle 🥺

@Aurora81 i think your temp tomorrow will tell a lot - this may well be implantation bleeding- I would wait a few days before testing as I’d you’re implanting today, will take few days to show on HCG!

my resting heart rate dropped another 1bpm this morning. Still above what I am pre ovulation and ovulation day but it’s dropping steadily and never gets to lower levels until AF has been here a couple days. AF not properly here yet (due today) but I’m sure will be soon as the spotting is still going on and happens every cycle so isn’t implantation

@allgoodthings84 I am so sorry 😞 it's disheartening to hear that your bpm are going down. Definitely get your b12 levels checked too. Mine were 213 and I started taking a bcomplex about a month ago, so hopefully they are after rising. Also, I think docs focus a lot on female fertility and less so on male fertility issues.

@NSx yes, I really wonder what my temp will be like tomorrow 😬 I don't think I ever got a dip like that at 11dpo, so I'm not sure what's going on.

@EdinburghGirl1 thank you. I’ve had a couple days knowing so I’m ok now and just want AF here and gone so I can go again

@Aurora81 I did used to have to have b12 injections every 12 weeks as I had a serious deficiency. I do take vit b complex but my stomach can’t absorb it from food very well (which is why I was so deficient) so could be the same with tablets to be fair. I will definitely be asking them to check that and I’m sure they will do that quickly because of my history. After I had been on the injections for 3 years they needed to cut funding so tested everyone who was getting b12 shots and my levels had then improved so I was taken off them but I haven’t been tested in over 5 years so who knows now

AF is officially here right on cue. I do like that it’s always 13 days after ovulation so I always know when to expect it
