Hey ladies I have been brave and started new thread.
Aquababe will not have to look at her thread opener again.

OP posts:

cece have just got back from follow up appt with consultant. there wasn't really a lot to say as we knew what was wrong with baby before it happened. he was just checking i was ok emotionally i think. not really sure if i am or not!
NSNA i completely understand your dilemma about trying again, and like you we have just decided not to do anything to prevent it for a while and we'll see what happens.
xx

ClairePO · 02/04/2008 12:20

Hello feb, not sure if I've said hello to you yet. Do you feel that having seen the consultants has helped?

NotSoNewAnymore · 02/04/2008 12:30

Mollie I know exactly what you mean about the comments - I cringe to think of some of the 'support' I have offered to friends who have mc'd over the years. I keep saying to my DH that one (of the many) things that I have learnt from this whole experience is to actually think about what I say to people who are in a similar situation and never tease people about when they will start a family. You just never know what goes on behind closed doors and the most 'innocent' comments can really hurt.

napa · 02/04/2008 12:43

Hi! ladies, hope its ok if I join you. had mmc at 10+5 weeks (baby sized at 9+5) only had ERPC yesterday but planning to start trying again straight away. consultant knows I'm the least patient person on earth so has just said go for it and come see me for a scan in epu a couple of weeks after a BFP and we'll take it from there.
don't know how long it might take. i have 4yo dd who took 22 months of trying then this one took just 2 months so who knows.

should have asked docs but anyone know if am i still likely to have pg hormones that would make a test positive don't want any disapointments if you know what i mean. think we're just planning to try and if i haven't had a period in 5-6 weeks maybe do a test. does this sound ok?

thanks and sorry for all the questions straight away

quarkee · 02/04/2008 13:11

Hi napa lovely to meet you, very sorry about your mc {{{hugs}}} I havent a clue re hormones as I am still enw to this myself but I bet you get an answer pdq

mistlethrush · 02/04/2008 13:16

Napa sorry that you've had to join us. I'm not really a good person to ask about this as I seem to take a long time to get HSG levels down after mc. One autumn 06 was still getting +ve 3 months and 3 afs after mc which was getting me completely paranoid as have had mp in past. I think that it is meant to go by the time you get 1st af, but don't know what its like between erpc and then. However, given my past, I've never been one to start ttc until I am absolutely sure that all's -ve

napa · 02/04/2008 13:18

might do a test in a couple of weeks just to check then
thanks

ClairePO · 02/04/2008 13:20

NotSoNewAnymore 'never tease people about when they will start a family' that is so true, I have joked 'it'll be you next' with people and will never do so again and feel ashamed I ever did.

Welcome napa sorry about you mc too many new people joining us at the moment. I would get somepregnancy tests in and test in a week or so, if that is positive test a week after etc I got a negative two weeks after my mc. Just buy cheapies from Asda/Tesco etc. Good with ttc and have some of this lovely tarte tartin that mistlethrush left!

MollieMooma · 02/04/2008 13:53

Napa Hello and welcome, so sorry you had to join us like Claire said there are far too many people joining lately, we need some good news! I tested -ve 2/3 weeks after my ERPC but we started ttc straight away. Wish you luck and baby dust

NotSoNewAnymore · 02/04/2008 15:56

Hi Napa, welcome to the board (but sorry you had a reason to join)

I had a miscarriage last week Thursday. I was 10 weeks but the baby measured 6 weeks. I took a HPT today (The bleeding seems to have stopped) and it was a very faint, barely there, positive. I would take Claire's advise and keep trying every week or so.

After TTC and hoping for a positive test, it does seem weird to be hoping for a negative result!

cece · 02/04/2008 15:57

scully thanks for the link. I live about 3 miles form Knaphill. Have driven through it but wouldn't say I know it at all. Apart from the big Sainsburys and HOmebase!

For those who want places to stop on the way to Cornwall. I will ask my friend who still lives there for those that are 'hot' at the moment. I am guessing you want lunch/play area sort of place.

quarkee · 02/04/2008 16:00

that would be great cece

napa · 02/04/2008 16:47

thanks for the welcome and the info re the tests

elibumbum · 02/04/2008 18:48

Napa - sorry about your mc and welcome to the thread. You can get some cheap tests from access diagnostics (£5 for 20).

NSNA - I know what you mean about it feeling weird to actually want a negative result. Same with AF - I couldn't wait to get mine!

On that subject, my AF arrived yesterday 4 weeks and 1 day (not that I was counting!) after the ERPC. Normally have a shortish cycle so could well ovulate in about a weeks time. Bring on the ttc!

ClairePO · 02/04/2008 19:03

just got my usual day before my period spotting, which came after a temp drop this morning

Upsetting this month as had hoped to be pregnant again before my edd and this was last chance. Feel like crying.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 02/04/2008 19:15

Blimey, there's ben a lot of action on the thread.

Hello to all the Feb and Napa. Am really sorry that you've had to join us. But hopefully it'll be a short stay and then you'll be buggering off to join the ante-natal threads .

Can't remember who said it, but I've also noticed that there seem to be MILLIONS of preggers ladies about. Everywhere I sodding turn at the moment there's a large bump infront of me . And now Natasha Kaplinksy has announced her pg. (double ).

And Quark - I take my hat off to you. What a fantastically strong woman you are. I'm pretty sure that I'd be in a heap on the floor if I'd been given your diagnosis.

Count me in on the bubbly and any/all food (apart from rice cakes - barf). Anyone else want to eat their own bodyweight in choc at the moment?

Seems as if you're all placed around the country. Who lives in Gloucestershire? DH and I were supposed to be getting married at Clearwell Castle in the Forest of Dean. That's before the git got me up the duff with DD2 and we had a shotgun wedding when I was five months pg .

Am also on the AF countdown since the m/c. Not even sure if I've ov'd this month . Hmmmm, wondering whether to start temping as well...... everything and anything to suceed right?! xxx

elibumbum · 02/04/2008 19:16

Claire - so sorry. Sending you a big hug and some chocolate.

What does the temp drop mean?

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 02/04/2008 19:21

Claire - just crossed posts with you. So sorry that it hasn't worked out this month hon. I know it's pants, but there will be other chances. Try and keep your chin up and know that we're all here to get you thru the rough patches. Can I maybe tempt you with a lovely glass of cold white wine, pan roasted salmon, fresh green beans and some creamy mashed potato. Followed by a HUGE slab of Green and Blacks.... Big vat of sticky baby dust coming your way for next month. You will succeed. xx

ClairePO · 02/04/2008 19:26

Thanks ladies. Spooky GeorgieGirl because for dinner I'm having pan fried trout fillet, new potatoes and green beans and a bloody huge glass of wine.

Eli - the temp drop when charting means my period is on its way, if you're pregnant your temps stay high.

quarkee · 02/04/2008 19:44

HTGG Clearwell's lovely - we looked at it, looked at our bank account and looked away we ended up with the Pump Rooms in Cheltenham - owned by the council and so vv cheap but with a big WOW factor (this was back in 1999, I think they've cottoned on now) - that all seems so far away now though...
I am surrounded by pg people esp at work - drives me mad altough am obv v happy for them
Sorry its not this time Claire - onwards and upwards though. You'll get there.

The trout sounds delish - DH is doing a pasta bake tonight but he is a good cook so I am hoping for a sooper dooper version. Am going off to watch ANTM (blush] on SkyPlus with my big glass of wine - 'tis my TV vice...

quarkee · 02/04/2008 19:45

oops i meant

MollieMooma · 02/04/2008 20:31

Claire Pooh! but it's not over til the fat red witch sings! I was a bridesmaid at Clearwell Castle, it was a lovely setting. So if your in Gloucestershire and Quarkee is in Cheltenham?? we're all quite local, I'm in Hereford!

I'm up for the salmon, oh and definately the Green & Blacks

cece · 02/04/2008 21:10

quarkee and for anyone else heading to Cornwall.

Having spoken to my friend and she has recommended a few places. Please bear in mind though that she is childfree, and although I said it had to be child friendly she is not always aware of certain aspects we may be!

OK

Near Exeter is a nice pub with play area called The Travellers Rest. Think this is the address (from google)
Tedburn Rd
Whitestone, Exeter, EX4 2HQ
01392 811217
It is apparently not far off the A30, once you leave the M5.

Further down the A30. Turn off at Okeahmpton.

  1. turn up into the village of Belstone where there some small palces with nice cream teas.
  2. Apparently there is a new cafe in Okehampton which seems popular at the top of the arcade. Please don't go to the one at the bottom... Just ask any local. Park in the car park at Simmons Park and short 5 min level walk up Kemply Road.
  3. Again park at Simmons Park and there is a cafe in the swimming pool with a little play area outside. I have eaten here and it was nice but I think there may be new management so not sure what the food is like now. But if nice they have tables outside.
  4. There is a cafe in The Red Lion Yard called the Dovecote. Also has tables outside if nice. Park in Waitrose car park for this one.

A bit further along the A30 still, 2 nice pubs. I go to these two fairly regulary whenever I am down there.
In a village called Bridestowe. The pub is called The White Hart. I am assured they let kids in and the food is yummy.
On the road towards Sourton is a bup called The Fox and Hounds.

Hope that helps.

ClairePO · 02/04/2008 21:22

ooh thanks cece!

MollieMooma · 02/04/2008 21:42

Cheers CeCe At least I don't have to worry about it being child friendly, just dh friendly IYKWIM
