Congrats Emmsy! Wishing you lots of luck with this one xx

Cece when will it all end for you? All this hanging about is so frustrating isn't it. Still waiting for my first post mc AF, I keep having little bleeds and then nothing. Acupuncture tomorrow, so hopefully that will help. xx

Emmsy1 · 14/02/2008 05:34

Thanks jules I have 4 beautiful children, all these problems only started approx 18 months ago, first had strep B Sep 07 then vetigo for 2 weeks, then episcleritis then joint pains and finally dry eye, (whats next I ask myself?) I don't really want to know too much because I am a bit of a worrier, just really want to face things as and when they happen (if and when pain is bad) Sorry for being greedy, about wanting another child when I have so many I just can't help myself, just one last newborn! I think I will ring midwife today to see what they suggest about BA, I won't take one today just incase, thanks for the advice X

MollieMooma · 14/02/2008 11:07

Hi guy
Having a bad morning at work this morning, the woman being interviewed on the desk next to mine had a tiny tiny newborn in a sack thingy on her chest (not sure of correct name) the baby kept looking up at her whilst lying on her chest and the looks that passed between them just put a dagger in my heart, it's what I want to experience so badly, had to finish my interview swallowing lots and blinking then virtually ran to the toilets for a huge cry, unfortunately now everyone keeps asking if I'm OK coz I look all red and blotchy
But CeCe you make me laugh, your comments about BD last night and your question you then answered thanks for that x

cricri · 14/02/2008 12:05

Mollie It's so hard seeing small babies isn't it? Especially having to deal with the associated emotions at work. Hope you feel a bit better now (((hugs to you)))
Emmsy Hope you get some answers to your questions.
Hope everybody else is OK?

MollieMooma · 14/02/2008 14:36

OK I give up one of my work colleagues just came in with her 6 wk old baby called Grace (the name we liked for a girl) first time she's been to show her off, course all the women are clucking round her like I normally would be, couldn't even face going near her, felt physically sick. I just feel like such a drama queen but so not coping today. Roll on 5pm and copious amounts of wine!

cricri · 14/02/2008 16:19

Oh Mollie Poor you, you're really going through the mill today with all these babies. Only 45 minutes to go until hometime - enjoy your wine tonight. Maybe have two glasses... Well, it is Valentine's Day after all

cece · 14/02/2008 17:39

Glad I made someone smile

Mollie - I know exactly how you feel. Finally plucked up the courgae to go and see my neighbours new baby (a month old but hadn't felt able to go before), and spent the rest of afternoon crying.

Emmsy - did you speak to the midwife?

I am sort of hoping AF has arrived. Not 100% sure though as have been spotting on and off for about a week now, same as you by the sounds of it hackneybird. Let me know how you get on with the acupuncture. Didn't realise that it helped that sort of thing.

Emmsy1 · 14/02/2008 17:51

hello girls, mollie sorry your feeling low, hope all will be ok for you!
cece and jules I have spoken to the EPU today, I told her my history and she said "she didn't think that BA would do me any harm but she could not be 100% sure and that I should really consult my Dr before I take it" I think she was trying to tell me to take it anyway! I will discuss it again with doctor when I register my pregnancy, but have decided to take it for now. Thanks again for all your support XXX

mistlethrush · 14/02/2008 18:12

Hello - can I join you? Some names I recognise on this thread, lots that I don't.

Last mc Nov07, previous Oct 06. Just managed to get referral to recurrent mc unit due to mc prior to ds.

Having spent much of last evening in A&E due to allergic reaction probably to paracetamol (and having had a possible allergic reaction to codine on New Years Eve) currently wondering whether, if I do get pregnant, there will be any painkillers I can use in an emergency. Is it worth going on when have lovely ds anyway?

Emmsy1 · 14/02/2008 20:14

welcome mistlethrush sorry about your M/C's but I'm glad that you have managed to get referred to the recurrent miscarriage unit. I always thought that you couldn't be referred unless you had 3 consecutive miscarriages?? This may give hope to many m/n on this thread!

mistlethrush · 14/02/2008 23:05

I had one, then ds, then two more. What might have made a bit of a difference is that I got mp after the first mc - and then hormone levels took a long time dropping back to normal after mc2 - which meant that I was paranoid that mp coming back (took about 3months after mc to get all-clear) - and I got a similar situation, although less drawn-out, after latest mc.

So, you can certainly ask after 2 in a row, but everyone's circumstances a bit different....

hackneybird · 14/02/2008 23:59

Hi cece

A nurse at the EPAU recommended acupuncture when I had the mc. I went for a session last week, which was immediately followed by cramping all week, and today my AF finally arrived. Hooray.

Had another session today and another next week. Apparently acupuncture can really help regulate your cycle by focusing your bloodflow to the uterus, and is used more and more by couples trying to conceive. I read quite a few threads on it here on MN using the search facility and there was a lot of positive feedback.

After next week I'm to go back for a few more sessions to make sure my cycle is as regular as can be.

Be warned, it isn't that cheap (I pay about 45 a go) and it's boring too. You just lie there for 20 mins at a time unable to move! But it's not painful and my therapist chats a lot when he is inserting the needles so you don't really notice them going in. I don't even have that many needles out in either.

xx

MollieMooma · 15/02/2008 09:26

Mistlethrush - Hi,sorry you've had to join us, but your very welcome! Glad to hear you've got the ball rolling following your recent m/c, fingers crossed for you. Hackney - how long has it been since your m/c? I'm still waiting for my AF and just wondered how much longer I should leave it before worrying (about something else!)
Feeling much better today and ready to face the world after my horrible day, thanks girls for the posts.
Verso - are you still about? How are you feeling?

bunnyinheadlights · 15/02/2008 09:40

a sad welcome to worzel and mistlethrush very sad that you have to join us, but hope you find the support here as i have.i hope you are doing all right after your erpc worzel. i found that physically it wasnt that bad but of course i was a mess emotionally so get lots of rest and .

hackney i have been reading up on acupunture and am seriously considering it and i am so glad to read your post! i wasn't sure if it will work and i am terrified of needles but at the same time i will do anything that will help prevent another mc. i hear that it can strengthen the uterus too. do you know of any good websites i can read? how did you find your accupuncturist?

i also read that drinking red raspbery or raspberry leaf tea also helps... does anyone know about this? or any other herbs that can help?

cece hope it al goes well for you when you finally see your doctor.

molliemooma yes it is tough isnt it? and it seems like after you have had an mc people pop up from all walks of life with their new babe or pregnancy and you almost think is someone up there trying to have a laugh? i hope it gets easier over time...but crying is normal (i think! as i do it all the time at random moments...and often in toilets...)

bunnyinheadlights · 15/02/2008 09:41

mollie our posts crossed - glad to hear that you are feeling better today

MollieMooma · 15/02/2008 10:17

Thanks bunny, well my questions about AF are redundant as she has just arrived which probably explains why I had problems coping yesterday! Have warned dh to be on best behaviour as still feeling a little hormonal and he's annoying me at the moment.

Seems to have been really quiet on our thread lately, hope everyone's OK starting to feel a bit paranoid that I'm the only one waffling!

Chocolate brownies on offer?

coolkat · 15/02/2008 12:34

Hey Molliemooma, don't fel like that, Although I have not added a post lately I still try to keep up. Never feel like you are ranting there are some wonderful people on here I am just not very good at saying anything constructive so follow silently.

Look after yourself and never hold back on here. X

Verso · 15/02/2008 13:01

Emmsy - just a quick post as I spotted your message about joint pains. I've had ongoing problems with joint pains since about six months after DD was born. I was sort-of hoping the m/c tests I had recently would show antiphospholipid syndrome or lupus but no. I've had tests for rheumatoid arthritis as well but all neg. I wonder if I'm borderline or something? I have a malar rash on my face but it's so faint no one takes it seriously lol. (It bugs me though.)

My temp is low (I'm tempting atm) - around 36.3 usually so I also wondered about thyroid but no.

Anyway - my GP said to focus on ttc at the moment and then we can address it later. He said the things it might be (but didn't say what) have "non-baby-friendly treatments" so while I'm ttc he wouldn't suggest doing anything. He's great though - took me seriously where my previous GP was reluctant even to do blood tests.

(Sorry for the big ramble about this - but I just had to share when I saw your post!)

My m/c consultant has put me on baby aspirin 75mg but it was making me feel weird last month so I'm now going to take it from a BFP (if I ever get one) rather than beforehand.

By the way I was thinking at 3am this morning that maybe I should give up ttc. It's too stressful .

MollieMooma · 15/02/2008 13:52

Verso - I'm sure if you get a BFP you will be so glad you didn't give up TTC. Do you have dc already? Sorry to hear your still feeling a bit frazzled, chin up hun

Emmsy1 · 15/02/2008 14:50

verso sorry to hear you have had joint pains, mine only hurt now and again, the pain is bearable. (poor sister suffers daily and is in terrible Agony)
In fact if they stayed just like they are, I would be very happy! fingers crossed for both of us! I really hope that you are only a border line case,(prefererbly not at all!) because it can seriously effect your organs I had one test for the rheumatoid factor approx 14 months ago, as the eye specialist was 98% sure I had RA, the test came back negative it was about a month later that the pains started, I was told that it could be a 'reaction' to the steroid drops that I had for my eye and that the symptoms should eventually stop! There still there and my eyes are crap! blurred most of the time, I have to put in ointment 4 times aday, I'm hoping that I can find something to work better, I'm supposed to be going back to work next year! good luck with everything xxx

mistlethrush · 15/02/2008 16:08

I go and have accupuncture - after 1st mc I wanted to try to clear system of nasty chemicals when trying to get bfp, so found a chinese herbalist - then when I got bfp went back when I had only just found out and she said that she would give me accupuncture instead. If I'd had to make an appointment for accupuncture I'd have got all worked up - but it was fine, and I have continued to go on and off - going once or twice a month at the moment as it helps with stress and sleeping. Thoroughly reccommend - come out on cloud nine sometimes.

cece · 15/02/2008 16:11

Hi everyone,

AF is finally here. So was feeling pleased to see her, but this afternoon the pains are starting to come back
Do hope whatever it is showed up on the scan and can be sorted quickly. So far they aren't as bad as last month... although I have had spotting on and off for the past week, which as never happened before, so maybe linked?
I am too scared ttc till been to docs. Luckily it is before I am due to ovulate so think I may say to DH we should wait till then.

The good news is that I am now going to stuff my face with a Belgian Bun [smile}

mistlethrush · 15/02/2008 16:22

Cece - sorry to hear you've got pain. I'd have thought that if things shown on the scan needed to have something done urgently then you would not have had to wait so long for an appointment - after 1st mc when I eventually managed to persuade them that things weren't right and got a scan I didn't get let out of the hospital! Also good that proper AF arrived - I just had bleeding and spotting and no proper AF after 1st mc. So fingers crossed that all's OK. ((hugs))

MollieMooma · 15/02/2008 17:01

CeCe - enjoy your bun and have a good weekend, hopefully the pain will lessen
