Bookmarking :) CD6 for me and we’re coming home from holiday tomorrow.

bunnykins123 · 13/06/2022 09:22

@curliegirlie I think it depends on how todays test was? But otherwise I would agree that CD14 was your peak. I don't think it would be a failed attempt of O, I have those strips and if you look on the packet they say that a line the same colour as the control or darker is considered a peak.

In case anyone is interested, I've just got back from holiday and have my referral blood letter through for the NHS miscarriage clinic. The bloods they do is:

Thyroid Peroxidase Ab
Thyroid functions tests
Free T3
U/E
Liver profile
Fbc and Diff
Lupus inhibitor screen
25 OH vitamin D
Oestradiol
Prolactin
Anti cardiolipim IgG
NK cell count
Ana Panel
AMH
Fsh
LH

@Totoro1234 I think you should see the GP as that could be related to something that's very treatable. I agree with @FfayeN it could be thyroid related. Do you feel well within yourself ie not tired etc?

@Indianna2006 yay to your surge! Fingers crossed for you 🤞🤞

curliegirlie · 13/06/2022 10:09

@calimc83 hopefully...fingers crossed I get the temp rise tomorrow.

Totoro1234 · 13/06/2022 10:17

@bunnykins123 i had my thyroid tested recently and it’s fine thankfully. Hoping to maybe have some more hormone blood tests as they just tested for androgens etc which can be related to PCOS/ ovulation issues. I’m not sure whether to go again to the GP or give it another cycle to see how things go. I’ve just had the one miscarriage so far so not sure how much to push for further testing. Thanks for sharing what they are testing for, that’s really useful.

Thank you so much for this sharing!! @bunnykins123, I had a miscarriage in Feb and have started trying again after cycle returned but I ve always wondered about the reasons leading to it and wanted to get a check. NHS only gives checking after 3 rounds of miscarriage, is there a way for me to have this checked either with NHS or privately after one miscarriage? would appreciate any input!Smile! Thank you for sharing again, very helpful!

Totoro1234 · 13/06/2022 11:42

@Yoyoathome I was going to ask the same thing! Not sure whether to push for these tests after 1 MC or wait and see what happens? I wouldn’t be as bothered about further testing if it wasn’t for my periods being strange and all over the place. Such a frustrating time!

curliegirlie · 13/06/2022 12:07

@bunnykins123 the photo I posted was a bit blurry, but I agree with Premom that the test line hadn't got as dark as the control at that point. I'm just hoping the LH level zoomed up and down in that 4 hour window, which would mean I'm ovulating today. Today's OPK back down to 0.25. So fingers crossed for temp rises over the next few days.

For all those discovering thyroid issues, completely agree that they're no biggie once you're on the meds. I had really silly cycles before I was diagnosed whilst TTC my first, but the combination of agnus castus and levothyroxine worked for me, and following 10 months when I hardly ever ovulated and had really long cycles, I was then pregnant 6 months later!

FfayeN · 13/06/2022 17:32

@bunnykins123 thanks for posting this list! In a mixture of private and NHS tests I've had most of these but the NK and ANA tests are the ones I am intrigued about, I don't think my NHS do these but will definitely ask at my appt on Friday. Do you mind sharing which NHS trust you come under?

bunnykins123 · 13/06/2022 19:51

@FfayeN sure! It's Epsom and St Helier trust. It took 3 months for my referral to finally come through as it's basically the trust that Dr Shehata is a consultant for so lots of women try to get referred to him. I didn't realise until lots of women said their referrals took about a month and mine seemed to take an eternity. He specialises in reoccurring miscarriages and NK Cells so I wonder if that's why they test in that trust?

@curliegirlie I think so, it certainly looks like that could be the case. Have you had other signs such as EWCM and O pains?

@Yoyoathome @Totoro1234 I had 3 early miscarriages and never registered any of them with a GP as I wanted to get to 6 weeks. The last one I called my GP and she referred me straight away (took a while for mine to come through though). So maybe you could try that? I think it depends on how long you've been trying also.

FfayeN · 13/06/2022 21:03

@bunnykins123 thank you! Yeah I imagine that's why! I'm with Prof Quenby in Coventry but also with my local NHS (I don't think Epsom will accept from outside the area). I'll ask anyway as I have my first appt this Friday from my March miscarriage, it's a shame you have to play the postcode lottery and get whatever your NHS does. x

bunnykins123 · 14/06/2022 08:12

@FfayeN I've heard good things about Prof Quenby. I might have totally got that wrong so apologies if so, but im sure I read online that you can request to be referred to Dr Shehata but it may take longer. I think that's why my referral took so long to come through due to the volume of referrals. There is no harm in asking your GP though and seeing what they say! I agree, it shouldn't be that one trust gets more extensive testing than another.

Mabelledox · 14/06/2022 08:40

My Gp wouldn't refer me after 2 miscarriages even though they should now so eventually I rang back the EPU who eventually referred me. Been sent through the first appointment date (which I already can't go to) in August. We booked in to see Dr.Shehata privately after my Mmc in April so have paid to have the full set of tests done. I'm slightly more anxious because my mum had a couple of miscarriages and I'm actually an IvF baby so was very worried I could have inherited an issue.

My results all came back good except one of the immune tests came back with high cytokines so he's prescribed me some drugs to lower my immune system. Not sure if anyone else has started taking immune suppressants but I'm very nervous of the side affects! Also starting to question whether it's all necessary after only 2 miscarriages when people have had more before getting tested but hopefully it prevents another!

Indianna2006 · 14/06/2022 18:36

@curliegirlie hmm I possibly think you maybe missed your surge and you did ovulate. Did you have your all other signs like mucus etc. and do you usually ovulate that day and have set cycles?

i got a temp shift today and so ovulated yesterday as I felt it. So officially in 2ww and 1DPO.
we go on holiday next week though. So gonna be fairly chill about it as for that to sort.

AF is due mid holiday. Do I wait it out? Take tests to check? Or pack tests to check if it’s late? Or wait until I’m back 😂 ugh. Decisions decisions.

it’s due like 2 days into holiday. So if I waited I’d be like 5/6 days late and like 19dpo 😂

curliegirlie · 14/06/2022 19:20

@Indianna2006 @bunnykins123 I maybe had some (not loads) of EWCM, but I never get ovulation pain so I've noticed and my cycles have been a bit variable this time round (cycle 4: this will be the second one I've definitely ovulated if so). This is why I'm so dependent on OPKs and bbt! 🙄 Although this would be the second month in a row I've ovulated on CD15 if that's correct, so maybe I'm becoming a bit more regular 🤞

bunnykins123 · 15/06/2022 08:23

@curliegirlie that's great your cycles are regulating! Do you think you will test early or just go with the flow?

@Indianna2006 welcome to the TWW! So I went away a few weeks ago just before AF was due. I didn't take any but that was mainly as I thought if I did, it would massively jinx it plus I thought it might actually be quite fun hunting down some pregnancy tests whilst abroad. Alas, I never got to play that game as AF arrived bang on time 😂 it's totally up to you and how you'd feel either getting a BFN or AF not arriving.

@Mabelledox I've not but I really suspect there will be something with my bloods so will likely be joining you. How long have you been on the medication for?

Cdoc · 15/06/2022 08:56

Morning everyone
hope you are all doing okay.

I am 22 days post medical management for mmc and got a static smiley on a clear blue this morning. IC is also showing positive so I think I’m ovulating soon.

Couple of questions as I’m getting myself quite anxious, is it normal to ovulate late after a miscarriage?

Second question is am I more likely to miscarry if we try on this ovulation before I’ve had an AF? I am so desperate to be pregnant again, I have no other children.

Sorry if these have been asked before I’m just getting myself worked up. Thank you in advance x

Cegbee · 15/06/2022 09:09

Hi @Cdoc, sorry for what you're going through, it's really hard. I didn't ovulated until 6 weeks after my D&C, I think it just depends on how long it takes for your bhcg to drop low enough. I thought I was about to have a period but it didn't come so i tested with an OPK and it was positive- just had bad ovulation pain. I had a period bang on two weeks later 2 months after my D&C. It did take around 5/6 weeks for my home preg tests to stop being v faintly positive though. Hope that helps.

Cegbee · 15/06/2022 09:11

Oh and you're not more likely to have another MC. I was told I could TTC again immediately, I didn't need to wait for AF. I think that advice was just to make dating a subsequent pregnancy raiser but dating scans are more accurate these days.

Cdoc · 15/06/2022 09:21

@Cegbee thank you for responding, and sorry you had to go through it too. I feel like it’s thrown up all the anxieties I had before and made the a hundred times worse.

That is so helpful thank you, it sounds like our cycles can be completely thrown by mmc, it was so hard still seeing positive pregnancy tests knowing there was nothing there so I guess it’s not surprising our bodies don’t know what’s going on.

think we will go for it then! I don’t want to miss out on a month in case it takes a long time. Thank you again for responding 😊

curliegirlie · 15/06/2022 09:29

@bunnykins123 I suspect I won’t hold out all the way until AF is due, but I’ll try and sit on my hands until next weekend (CD27/12DPO). At least then a positive would be slightly less of a squinter…

Cegbee · 15/06/2022 09:30

@Cdoc no problem, keep posting if it helps, I totally get the anxiety. Wishing you all the luck for this cycle and beyond.

TheBirdintheCave · 15/06/2022 09:46

@Indianna2006 I didn't bother taking any tests when I went abroad. AF was due five days into our holiday but showed up two days early 🙄Oh well. Holidays are a great distraction though. I found that the two week wait flew by as I was so busy planning and packing.

theblueflowers · 15/06/2022 11:01

Morning! I'm officially 1DPO today so the TWW begins! AF due on the day that I also go on holiday- wonderful timing!

I got my peak on CD25 so it's been a very knackering few weeks!

@Cdoc I'm on my second cycle since my mmc, and mine are all over the place still. There is no reason to wait, but I know quite a few women just need that mental space from it.

calimc83 · 15/06/2022 15:33

Good luck to all those in the 2WW. I have everything crossed 🤞🏻 for you..so had an interesting chat with my GP today. She's also gone through a MC so she seemed to just 'get it'...which helped! Anyhow, I'd had my basic bloods done last week. I called up and was told all results were back and no further action required, but, when I actually called and asked to speak with the same GP turns out my Iron is at the lowest end of the normal threshold so advised to boost this via diet/supplements. Turns out the folic acid test hadn't come back 🙄..so that's been re requested. Thyroid, vit D etc all fine so that's something. She advised to drink 2L of water a day to help with CM and she said she'll refer me for a pelvic US..so that's something I guess. X

Cdoc · 15/06/2022 20:36

@theblueflowers thank you! That’s good to know, though sorry your cycles are all over the place. Hope they settle down soon 🤞🏼I can understand the need for mental space, it’s a complete battle between that and wanted to fill the hole that has been left behind
